An issue related to using wood and wood products for building structures is to ensure their stability and durability during operation within wide limits. Therefore, the object of this study was a change in the properties of the polymer shell of powder paint on wood during thermal modification. It is proved that in the process of thermal modification of wood, its structure changes, and accordingly, during the polymerization of powder paint, degassing occurs, which affects the polymer shell. Namely, during the thermal polymerization of powder paint at a temperature of 180°C for untreated wood, shallow bubbles and craters are characteristic of the formed polymer shell. Instead, a smooth surface is marked for a sample of thermally modified wood. Thermogravimetric analysis data show thermogravimetric curves characterized by the loss of mass of the sample of the original wood with increasing temperature due to the processes of dehydration, destruction of hemicellulose and lignin. This is dehydration, accompanied by the destruction of the pyranose cycle, and carbonization to form a carbon residue and a complex mixture of volatile products. Due to this, bubbles and craters are formed in the polymer shell of the coating. Based on the obtained results of adhesion of the polymer shell on wood, which is treated with a mixture of epoxy polyester system with functional additives and a polymerization temperature of 180°C, the adhesion level is 2.1MPa. Reducing the polymerization temperature of a mixture of the epoxy polyester system with functional additives to 130°C increases adhesion by 1.75times, and the nature of the destruction passes through the polymer shell. For thermally modified wood, the level of adhesion is within 2.1MPa, and the destruction takes place through the wood. This is due to the increased fragility of the surface after thermal modification of wood

General Psychology - Abstract
The research aimed to check if the construction of narrative identity by adolescents at risk of maladjustment contributes to their adaptive social functioning. It also aimed to identify factors related to identity on which the adjustment of adolescents at risk of social maladjustment depends. A natural experiment was conducted in Poland among youths from sociotherapy centres (n = 60, aged 18–20 years, 33 women and 27 men). A group of graduates at these centres (n = 31, aged 21–24 years, 17 women and 14 men) was included in the exploratory study and compared with the group of students in terms of maladjustment, ego-resiliency, and identity. The experiment shows that the construction of a narrative identity through a life story interview contributes to better social adaptation, which means a lower risk of maladjustment. The diffuse-avoidant identity style predisposes to maladjustment, whereas ego-resiliency is associated with a higher level of adjustment. Thus the narrative interview method can find application in the therapy of adolescents at risk of maladjustment.

The problem that is solved in the research is to increase the efficiency of assessing the state of the monitoring object while ensuring the given reliability, regardless of the hierarchy of the monitoring object. The object of research is decision support systems. The subject of the research is the process of evaluating the monitoring object using bio-inspired algorithms. The hypothesis of the research is the need to increase the efficiency of the assessment of the state of the monitoring object with the given reliability. In the course of the research, an improved method of increasing the efficiency of decision-making based on bio-inspired algorithms was proposed. General provisions of artificial intelligence theory were used to solve the problem of analyzing the object state in intelligent decision support systems. The essence of improvement is to use the following procedures: −taking into account the type of uncertainty about the state of the monitoring object (full uncertainty, partial uncertainty and full awareness); −taking into account the degree of noise in the data on the state of the monitoring object. Noise refers to the degree of information distortion created by the enemy’s means of electronic and cyber warfare; −using the ant colony optimization algorithm and the genetic algorithm to find the path metric while assessing the state of the monitoring object; −deep learning of synthesized ants using evolving artificial neural networks. An example of using the proposed method in assessing the state of the operational situation of a group of troops (forces) is presented. The specified example showed a 15−22% increase in the efficiency of data processing using additional improved procedures

General Medicine - Abstract
The prospects of increasing the level of environmental safety of industrial enterprises as a result of the implementation of the latest sorption technologies for wastewater treatment are considered. An analysis of the effectiveness of the existing methods of sorption water purification, which contain compounds of heavy metals, was carried out. Highly effective magnetic sorbents were obtained by electroerosion dispersion, which contains polyvalent iron oxides. The effect of the method of introducing the sorbent into wastewater on the degree of its purification was investigated. The most effective results in water purification were achieved with the use of freshly obtained powder of electroerosion dispersion of iron in water in the form of a suspension, which allows to achieve a high degree of water purification from zinc ions - more than 99%. Such water meets the standards for washing parts in galvanic production with regard to the content of nickel ions. The expediency of recycling spent nano-sorbents in the composition of powder paint and varnish materials is shown. When a coating chemically stable in water treatment waste, which has ferromagnetic properties, is included in the composition, in quantity15% by weight high corrosion resistance of the coating is ensured and shielding of electromagnetic radiation increases approximately 3 times compared to the standard sample. The use of research results at enterprises will prevent environmental pollution with toxic substances, change outdated production technologies, ensure efficient and rational use of water, raw materials and energy in the industrial production system.

- Abstract
Exhausted etching solutions are the waste of industrial enterprises and contain toxic pollutants that have a detrimental effect on the environment. Currently, the processing of these solutions to obtain marketable products is important. The paper presents the results of research on the application of the ferritization method for processing of exhausted etching solutions of steel surfaces. Energy-saving activation of the process by alternating magnetic fields was used, which has undeniable advantages compared to traditional thermal activation. The influence of the initial concentration of iron ions in the reaction mixture of ferritization process and the methods of its activation on the treatment quality of exhausted etching solutions was studied. It was established that the best degree of extraction of heavy metal ions from exhausted etching solutions by ferritization is achieved when the reaction mixture is activated by alternating magnetic fields at an initial concentration of iron ions of 6.6 g/dm3 . At the same time, the residual concentration of iron ions in purified solutions does not exceed 0.03 mg/dm3 , that corresponds to degree of purification of solutions of 99.999%. Those solutions can be reused in situ. The qualitative and quantitative composition of ferritization sediments was studied. Phases of ferroxygite δ-FeOОН, magnetite Fe3O4 and maghemite ɣ-Fe2O3 were detected by X-ray phase analysis in the sediments. It was established that at the initial concentration of iron ions of 26.6 g/dm3 with thermal activation of the reaction mixture and 16.6 g/dm3 with alternating magnetic fields activation, the sediment exclusively contains the magnetite phase. The results of the study indicate the possibility of further use of sediments for the production of important industrial products and materials containing ferromagnetic compounds. The implamitation of improved ferritization process in industrial enterprises will allow to achieve decrease of energy consumption compared to known technologies of exhausted etching solutions processing.

The current state of the Ukrainianeconomy causes to resolve a range of questions related to the improvement of production and increasein the ecological safety of products, including paintand-varnishes materials, in combination with ensuring high operational properties of coatings based onthem. The formation of high-quality paints and varnishes with a long service life without compromising the ecology of the environment when usingthem, is largely determined by the composition andphysical and mechanical properties of paints andvarnishes. The main disadvantage of using liquid paints andvarnishes traditional for the Ukrainian market rangeis the content of solvents in their composition up to40%, which inevitably leads to their emission during production and application, as well as environmental pollution. This problem can be solved byscaling up production using eco-friendly powdercoating.According to the research results, we have obtained eco-friendly paint-and-varnishes coatings ofhigh corrosion resistance based on powder coatingcontaining silicates as a filler in the form of metakaolin and talc.Using the mentioned range of fillers in the powder coating contributes to the decrease in the peelingwidth to 2.13 mm and metal corrosion width to 1.38mm after testing in the salt spray chamber with thecondensation of 5 % of the sodium chloride watersolution and places obtained coatings into atmospheric corrosivity categories С3 and С4 accordingto ІSO 12944-2:2017, which creates conditions forusing these compositions in the context of the excessive corrosivity.

General Medicine - Abstract
Influence of the key parameter for the ferritization process - initial total concentration of heavy metal ions (СƩ) on the quality of galvanic sludge processing has been experimentally studied. It was determined, that at СƩ = 5.33 g/dm3 and electromagnetic pulse activation of the ferritization process, the lowest values of residual concentrations of heavy metal ions in the purified solution were obtained: for iron – 0,10; nickel – 0,19; copper – 0,12; zinc – 0,10 mg/dm3. The obtained values correspond to the average degree of extraction of these ions of 99,97%. The purified solution is suitable for reuse in electroplating facilities. As a result of structural studies of sediment samples, it was found that at total heavy metal concentration of 5,33 g/dm3 in the ferritization reaction mixture, regardless of the method of activating the process, phases containing crystalline ferromagnetic phases of ferrites (Ni, Cu, Zn) Fe2O4 exceeds 92%. The efficiency of resource-saving electromagnetic pulse activation of the reaction mixture in the ferritization process is confirmed. Using this method of activation, energy consumption is reduced by 1,5 times compared to thermal one. The proposed resource-saving ferritization technology prevents environmental pollution, ensures the rational use of raw materials and energy, as well as allows to obtain marketable products from industrial waste.

General Medicine - Abstract
The purpose of the study is to analyze the details of the media representatives` accreditation to one of the “A” list film festivals; to determine the specifics of the cameramen’s work at such cultural events; to highlight the process of preparing audiovisual material from the “A” list film festivals for the broadcasting on Ukrainian TV channels. The research methodology of this work includes the use of such methods as a generalization – the author’s search for and establishment of similar signs of the large film festivals functioning, the theoretical method – the analysis of the available scientific works on this topic by our foreign colleagues, the empirical method – the description and systematization of the author’s own experience gained while working at the major film festivals. Scientific novelty. For the first time a Ukrainian cameraman, who, not in theory, but practice, managed to study the work of the world’s most outstanding film festivals, summarizes and systematizes his experience, adding to this the relevant information from foreign sources, and teaches cumulative developments in this scientific work. Conclusions. In the process of researching a given topic, the author was able to investigate and analyze both the specifics of the “A” list film festivals functioning and the nuances of the cameramen’s work on them. The aggregated analysis of our own experience and the insufficiently studied works of foreign researchers made it possible to structure useful information, creating a foundation for further research, both for beginners and specialists in this area.

Background Tumors are complex tissues containing collections of phenotypically diverse malignant and nonmalignant cells. We know little of the mechanisms that govern heterogeneity of tumor cells nor of the role heterogeneity plays in overcoming stresses, such as adaptation to different microenvironments. Osteosarcoma is an ideal model for studying these mechanisms—it exhibits widespread inter- and intra-tumoral heterogeneity, predictable patterns of metastasis, and a lack of clear targetable driver mutations. Understanding the processes that facilitate adaptation to primary and metastatic microenvironments could inform the development of therapeutic targeting strategies. Results We investigated single-cell RNA-sequencing profiles of 47,977 cells obtained from cell line and patient-derived xenograft models as cells adapted to growth within primary bone and metastatic lung environments. Tumor cells maintained phenotypic heterogeneity as they responded to the selective pressures imposed during bone and lung colonization. Heterogenous subsets of cells defined by distinct transcriptional profiles were maintained within bone- and lung-colonizing tumors, despite high-level selection. One prominent heterogenous feature involving glucose metabolism was clearly validated using immunofluorescence staining. Finally, using concurrent lineage tracing and single-cell transcriptomics, we found that lung colonization enriches for multiple clones with distinct transcriptional profiles that are preserved across cellular generations. Conclusions Response to environmental stressors occurs through complex and dynamic phenotypic adaptations. Heterogeneity is maintained, even in conditions that enforce clonal selection. These findings likely reflect the influences of developmental processes promoting diversification of tumor cell subpopulations, which are retained, even in the face of selective pressures.

Microbiology (medical) ,Immunology ,Immunology and Allergy - Abstract
The article examines the essence of the macroeconomic model "Guns versus Butter" (a compromise between military and other state expenditures) and determines the relevance of its application in the study of the impact of military burden on the economy of Ukraine. In the course of the study, the following indicators were singled out for studying the relationship between military expenditures (expenditure on national security and defense) and social security expenditures (non-defense sector goods that improve public welfare): total GDP, share of GDP on defense (military burden on economy) and other governmental programs, as well as the tax burden. The article segments the main indicators of the state budget of Ukraine for the period 2014–2021, which indicate the processes that develop over time, depending on military, political, economic, geopolitical factors, etc. The results of empirical studies conducted for a number of least developed countries, developing countries and developed countries in different regions of the world testify to "two sides of the same coin", the unity of opposites that ensures the development of the system and its balance. The leading role in this balance is played by the relationship between economic growth and military spending, as well as the methodology for assessing the causal relationship between them. It was found that, depending on the geopolitical situation, potential or existing armed conflicts, military spending can play a key role in the protection of national security and defense, and therefore in economic development and stabilization of public welfare, through investment attractiveness, free market relations, innovative activity etc. The conclusion indicates the need to conduct quantitative micro-, meso-, and macro-economic studies in Ukraine during the period of independence, using methods and models for substantiating economic decisions.

The leading-edge of a substrate undergoing convective mass deposition is a region of significant local deposition rate compared to the mass deposition at the downstream Leveque concentration boundary layer. The local increase in mass deposition is due to an intrinsic topological transition at the leading edge, a transition which is usually in the chemistry or geometry of the target surface for deposition. We study two leading-edge cases for model convective electrodeposition: a flat and a corner/step transitions between the inert wall and active cathode. We find that mass deposition at the leading-edge is faster than at the boundary layer and is connected to the Pe\'clet number differently. Its rate is correlated with the transition length and decays downstream to match the deposition rate at the boundary layer.

We analyze the perturbative Relativistic Moduli Space approach, where the amplitudes of the Derrick modes are promoted to collective coordinates. In particular, we analyse the possibility to calculate the critical velocity, i.e., the initial velocity of kinks at which single bounce scattering changes into a multi-bounce or annihilation collision, in the resulting Collective Coordinate Model (CCM). We find that for a growing number of modes the critical velocity of the CCM approaches the full field theory value. This is verified in the case of the $\phi^4$ model, where we reach a $99\%$ accuracy. We also see such a convergence for a wide range of models belonging to the family of the double sine-Gordon and Christ-Lee theories, especially in those cases where the kinks do not reveal a too well pronounced half-kink inner structure., Comment: 12 pages

We consider a model of a Bloch band subjected to an oscillating electric field and coupled to a featureless fermionic heat bath, which can be solved exactly. We demonstrate rigorously that in the limit of vanishing coupling to this bath (so that it acts as an ideal thermodynamic bath) the occupation of the Floquet band is not a simple Fermi-Dirac distribution function of the Floquet energy, but instead it becomes a ``staircase'' version of this distribution. We show that this distribution generically leads to a finite rectified electric current within the optical gap of a metal even in the limit of vanishing carrier relaxation rates, providing a rigorous demonstration that such rectification is generically possible and clarifying previous statements in the optoelectronics literature. We show that this current remains non-zero even up to the leading perturbative second order in the amplitude of electric fields, and that it approaches the standard perturbative expression of the Jerk current obtained from a simpler Boltzmann description within a relaxation time approximation when the frequencies are small compared to the bandwidth., Comment: 18 pages, 4 figures

Revision surgery after gender-affirming genitoplasty is becoming more and more common as more patients gain access to surgical treatment. The complexity of genitoplasty and extensive dissection of delicate tissues predisposes patients to necrosis of the flap(s) employed, which can leave patients with complications ranging from poor aesthetics to total lack of genital sensation. The purpose of this report is to detail the revision surgery of a 32-year-old transgender woman who underwent vaginoplasty at an outside institution and presented to our clinic for clitoral reconstruction following necrosis and near-total loss of the neoclitoris. Physical exam showed extensive necrosis, and 3-Tesla magnetic resonance (MRI) revealed significant scarring of the pudendal nerve branches at the level of the pubic symphysis. Healthy nerve was identified at the level of the right inferior pubic ramus, and total clitoral reconstruction with an innervated first dorsal web space free flap anastamosed to the deep inferior epigastric vessels was performed. Complications included donor site cellulitis with partial loss of the skin graft and formation of hypertrophic scar tissue. This was treated 6 months postoperatively with excision of scar tissue in the webspace and placement of an additional full-thickness skin graft. At follow-up, the patient reported tactile and erogenous sensation of the neoclitoris itself and subjective satisfaction with the aesthetic outcome. Our results provide evidence that this flap is a feasible option to create an aesthetic and sensate neoclitoris in the setting of previous neoclitoral necrosis. This case report also describes the novel use of 3-Tesla MRI in target selection for nerve coaptation.

Economics and Econometrics ,Law - Abstract
The Digital Markets Act, as proposed by the Commission, alongside with discussed Parliamentary amendments and ECN specifications, has triggered ‘a Copernican transformation of the field’. Together with comparable in terms of their significance bills, drafted by the US House Judiciary Committee, US President Executive order 14036 and remarkable developments taking place in other important antitrust jurisdictions, a new generation of competition rules are shifting the area of the digital economy towards a ‘regulatory Big Bang’. An unprecedented recalibration of the rules regulating the functioning of competition in the digital markets has catalysed diverse reactions among the main stakeholders. The proposed approach to regulating gatekeepers will have a paradigmatic impact on European consumers, businesses and public institutions. It will have equally significant implications for the theoretical foundations of competition law, economics and policy. While formally the DMA is complementing, not substituting, existing provisions of competition de lege lata, such a substantial extension of the rationale and instruments of competition policy is likely to have significant implications also for the application of ex-post rules. The entire apparatus of competition law will be extended by the new modality. On one hand, such an extension may be seen as an enrichment. For decades, the great variety of the ideas about economic competition and its regulation have been substantially narrowed down and standardised by the Law & Economics analysis. Clearly, such a limitation was put in place for good reasons: homogenisation, commensuration, universalisation, expediency, predictability and calculability are among the undisputable advantages of analysing competition through the lens of neoclassical microeconomics. The optimisation, however, comes at a cost. Evidently, the value of economic competition is not always reduceable to a singular metric particularly if such a monovalent methodology is underpinned categorically by a monovalent normative ethos of non-intervention. Supposedly, the phenomenon of competition is more diverse and not as rigid and singular as the prevalent approach claims it to be. To an extent, the DMA epitomises this broader vision. By introducing a new type of competition rules, it essentially embodies a new role of competition policy in the constitutional constellation of public goals and values. In this sense, the proposal reflects a more general trend, that is not exhausted by the processes taking place in the area of ex-post competition policy internally. On the other hand, however, the proposed recalibration is likely to raise many additional issues and challenges for the discipline. Some of them are discussed in this article. Out of the wide spectrum of changes introduced by the DMA/DSA proposal, this article identifies and analyses one of the central – though not so commonly discussed – elements of the transformation. It asks a normative question about what kind of competition in the digital markets the European Union should seek to establish, and a methodological question about procedural and substantive legal mechanisms used for shaping such a new format.

33. Spectral walls in antikink-kink scattering in the ϕ6 model

We show that thick spectral walls exist in antikink-kink collisions in the $\phi^6$ model. In this model, they are triggered by the so-called $delocalized$ $modes$ which do not exist in the single-soliton sector but emerge in antikink-kink ($\bar{K}K$) collisions. Therefore, spectral walls are a rather common phenomenon that should occur in many solitonic collisions involving non-symmetric kinks as, e.g., in the $\phi^8$ or higher power models., Comment: 6 pages, 4 figures

Competition (economics) ,Market economy ,Business - Abstract
The EU competition policy is on the verge of significant reform. The main provisions of the reform are set out in the draft legislative document, the Digital Markets Act, initiated by the European Commission. However, its content goes beyond this Act. The project is subject to detailed and multilateral discussion in the EU. In view of the direct link between the economies of the EU and Ukraine and the prospects of Ukraine’s membership in the EU, there is an ongoing general adaptation of Ukrainian legislation and technical regulations to EU requirements and standards. Naturally, this reform will soon become part of the harmonization process. Given the complexity and multifaceted nature of this reform, not only its coverage of legislation, but also changes in the modality of relations between competition authorities and the largest players in the digital economy, it is advisable to initiate such a discussion today while the bill is under development. With this in mind, as well as the general novelty of this process, the three main components of the reform are analyzed. The external preconditions that prompted the European Commission to take such innovative (and rather controversial) legislative steps are considered, and the context and driving forces are described. The main procedural elements of the bill are highlighted, the original formula of selection among the subjects of the digital economy exclusively of its largest system participants and imposing on them a wide range of obligations to protect and encourage competition in the EU digital markets is shown. The material side of the new responsibilities envisaged by the reform is described, the importance of its adoption or at least an in-depth analysis for Ukraine is emphasized.

Today, there is an increasing interest of the world community in the movement of veteran athletes, including wrestlers who specialize in Sambo (sports). Given the above, the leading and important role is played by scientific and methodological support of key components of the professional activities of veteran athletes who specialize in Sambo. The choice of the optimal technical and tactical arsenal of wrestlers of the studied category, considering their individual and typological features, allows to achieve the main goal – maintaining optimal sports form and winning competitions of various ranks in the selected Martial Arts. As a result of theoretical research, members of the research group developed a Program to improve the Technical and Tactical training of veteran Sambo wrestlers in the System of their annual training cycle. We expect that the introduction into the System of long-term training of veteran Martial Arts who specialize in Sambo wrestling programs to improve their Technical and Tactical training will increase the activity and effectiveness of competitive actions, which will ensure their successful performance in competitions of various ranks. Prospects for further research in the chosen direction of scientific research include testing the Program to improve the Technical and Tactical training of veteran Sambo wrestlers in the System of their annual training cycle, taking into account their individual typological and physiological characteristics.

The new book by two prominent competition law thinkers Maurice E. Stucke (Professor of Law at the University of Tennessee) and Ariel Ezrachi (Professor of Law at the University of Oxford) 'Competition Overdose: How Free Market Mythology Transformed Us from Citizen Kings to Market Servants' (Harper Business, USA, 2020, pp. 402) has triggered a vivid discussion over the ever-fading question on the goals of competition law, economics and policy and – more broadly – on the very nature of the multifaceted phenomenon of competition. The previous blockbuster of the tandem 'Virtual Competition: The Promise and Perils of the Algorithm-Driven Economy' (2016) has generated vocal and diverse feedback, and the authors continue their market success with publishing another thought-provoking piece. The book provokes not only thoughts. From its very title, subtitle, name of chapters, normative position, methodological argumentation and the choice of preprint reviewers, across the selection of case studies and to its very writing style, the book is designed to generate discussion. And for the right reasons. The times when competition policy was perceived as an axiomatic, mathematised, highly technical and pretty much non-controversial area of Law & Economics have gone. Over the last decade, competition has become a great theme again. Full of ideological appeals and statements, mindful of their political pedigree, competition law, economics and policy are transitioning from the mechanistic field of microeconomic modelling to the real world of geopolitical chessboards.A quick look at the composition of the book, makes clear the authors' intention to transpose their well-established and highly influential academic reasoning from the narrow world of competition theorists to the broader and more diverse audience. The key objective of the book in this respect is to convince such broader societal circles of the need to reform competition policy – or rather to revise our perception of the very essence and the very mission of economic competition as such. The book is in several senses iconoclastic. As skilful diagnosticians, the authors reveal weakness after weakness of the market-centred ethics. The main cures offered by the book – both in terms of the normative propositions as well as the politicised vocabulary and intentionally approachable argumentative apparatus – will be appealing to many. The authors aim to raise (or perhaps to refine) the ethical dimension in the otherwise morally neutral phenomenon of economic competition and its regulation, and this book's objective and mission are remarkable in themselves. It is hard to find a reasonable person disagreeing with the normative premises of the book. It is much easier to find one disagreeing with the enforceability of these intentions. In what follows I’ll try to articulate ten polemical points, written as a reflection on the book. Only a few of these points express disagreement. All are written with deep and sincere respect to both authors – the Masters of the discipline. We agree on most of the things, disagreeing rather on nuances. I believe though that some of those nuances are important.

BACKGROUND Infants with a positive cystic fibrosis (CF) newborn screen, only one identified CFTR mutation (NBS+/1 mut), and an initial intermediate sweat chloride (30-59 mmol/L) should have repeat sweat chloride testing (SCT). However, the outcome of repeat SCT and the relationship between initial sweat Cl and subsequent CF diagnosis have not been reported. OBJECTIVE The objective of this study was to analyze the outcomes of repeat SCT and subsequent CF diagnosis in NBS+/1 mut infants based on their initial sweat chloride concentration. METHODS We retrospectively identified all infants born in Indiana from 2007 to 2017 with NBS+/1 mut and initial SCT in the intermediate range. For each infant, we recorded the initial and repeat SCT results and/or a final CF diagnosis. RESULTS From 2007 through 2017 there were 2822 NBS+/1 mut infants of which 2613 (82%) had at least one SCT result. No infants with an initial SCT of 30-39 mmol/L were subsequently diagnosed with CF. Of the 31 infants with an initial SCT of 40-49 mmol/L, only 1 was subsequently diagnosed with CF. In contrast, 61% of those with SCTs of 50-59 mmol/L were later diagnosed with CF. CONCLUSION These results suggest that infants with a positive NBS for CF and one CFTR mutationwhose initial sweat chloride concentration is 50-59 mmol/L need to be monitored more closely forCF with strong consideration for earlier repeat SCTs and immediate genotyping.

History ,Classics - Abstract
The paper analyzes different sources of anthroponyms in the original and final texts of P. Kulish’s novel “Chorna Rada: Khronika 1663 Roku” (“The Black Council: A Chronicle of the Year 1663”). Three types of sources have been identified: the historical prototypes, names and surnames of Kulish’s friends, and archival (documentary) records. In addition, numerous notes in the early editions of the Russian novel contain references to the works of various people (M. Markevych, D. Bantysh-Kamenskyi, V. Kokhovskyi, etc.). The last group of anthroponyms stands outside of the plot, and the paper does not focus on it. The historical and autobiographical sources of anthroponyms are generally known. Among the first are prototypes of two hetmans — Yakym Somko and Ivan Briukhovetskyi, military secretary M. Vukhaievych, regimental osaul M. Hvyntovka. The second group comprises the occasional characters Hordii Kostomara (a historian M. Kostomarov), Ivan Yusko (a teacher I. Yuskevych-Kraskovskyi), Hulak (M. Hulak, the founder of The Brotherhood of Saints Cyril and Methodius), Bilozerets (Kulish’s brother-in-law V. Bilozerskyi), Petro Serdiuk (Kulish’s close friend Petro Serdiukov), Oleksa Senchylo (teacher Oleksa Senchylo-Stefanovskyi). In the novel, Kulish drew the love line as a projection of his relationship with Oleksandra Bilozerska and her mother Motrona. The characters of Petro Shramenko, Lesia Cherevanivna and her mother Melaniia have an autobiographical basis. Accordingly, Lesia’s name was also taken from real life. The third group of sources supplying the anthroponyms is archival records. The paper analуzes Kulish’s extracts from the roster of Cossack regiments of the Hetmanate (1741). This source wasn’t used previously. It contains the anthroponyms Vasyl Nevolnyk (‘Slave’), Puhach, Petro Serdiuk, Taranukha, Chepurnyi, Cherevan, Tur, Shramko and Shramchenko, Shkoda, which the author used in various editions of the novel.
