The ameloblastoma (AB) is a true neoplasm of enamel organ type tissue which does not undergo diff erentiation to the point of enamel formation. AB is locally invasive and recurs despite adequate surgical removal. It is of varied origin, although the stimulus initiating the process is unknown. The study of molecular and genetic alterations associated with the development and progression of the AB will help to predict the course of the tumor and lead to the development of new therapeutic concepts for their management. An attempt has been made at compiling about molecular pathogenesis of AB.

r-2-Alkoxycarbonyl-c-3-aryl-1,4-thiazane 1,1-dioxides were obtained as the stereoselective product, when the aldehyde used was o-substituted benzaldehyde while the p-substituted benzaldehydes gave a trans product. The relative configuration of the adjacent alkoxycarbonyl and aryl groups was assigned from the vicinal coupling constant, 3J = 10.6 Hz in the trans isomer and 3.2 Hz in the cis isomer, and from the multiplicity pattern, i.e., a doublet for the H-2 proton of the trans isomer and a triplet for the H-2 proton of the cis isomer. The unusual, large long-range coupling (4J = 2.8 Hz) because of the "W" arrangement between H-2e and H-6e across the ring type was very useful for confirming the cis configuration and chair conformation of the isomer. The various 1H and 13C NMR assignments were made with the help of 1H–1H COSY, 1H–13C COSY, HMBC, and NOESY spectral analyses.Key words: 1H and 13C NMR, 1H–1H COSY, 1H–13C COSY, HMBC, NOESY, stereoselectivity, 1,4-thiazane.

The piperidine and cyclo­hexane rings in the title compound, C19H25NO3, are trans-fused and adopt boat and chair conformations, respectively. The phenyl and ester substituents are oriented axially with respect to the deca­hydro­quinoline moiety. The N atom of the piperidine ring exists in a planar configuration. The keto O atom of the ester group exhibits positional disorder, with an 80:20 population ratio. The crystal structure is stabilized by C—H⋯O hydrogen bonds.

2-Aryldecahydroquinolin-4-ones, unlike mere piperidines, do not form dithiocarbamic acids on addition of carbon disulphide under alkaline condition. Invariably, xanthates are formed when carbon disulphide is added to the amine in the presence of alcohol. In the present study dithiocarbamato complexes involving 2-aryldecahydroquinolin-4-ones and Ni(II) and Cu(II) metal ions are reported for the first time. The deprotonation of 2-aryldecahydroquinolin-4-ones takes place in a NH3/NH4 Cl buffer medium (pH=10) in acetonitrile followed by the addition of carbon disulphide and the corresponding aqueous solution of the metal ion. The isolated complexes were of the formula M(Ldtc)2; M(II) = Ni(II) and Cu(II), Ldtc = 2-aryldecahydroquinolin-4-onedithiocarbamate anion derivatives. The thia­zine ring in the title compound, C14H19NO5S, adopts a slightly distorted chair conformation. The substituents, viz. the ethoxy­carbonyl and methoxy­phenyl groups, are located cis to one another. In the crystal structure, the inversion-related mol­ecules exist as C—H⋯O hydrogen-bonded dimers, and these are linked by N—H⋯O and C—H⋯O interactions to form layers parallel to the ac plane.

Aspergillus niger or Aspergillus tamarii when grown as mixed cultures with toxigenic A. flavus inhibits biosynthesis of aflatoxin by A. flavus, owing primarily to its ability to produce inhibitors of aflatoxin biosynthesis and to their ability to degrade aflatoxin. Gluconic acid partly prevents aflatoxin production. The other factors such as changes in pH of the medium and the effect on the growth of A. flavus have no role in imparting capabilities to these cultures to inhibit aflatoxin production by A. flavus.

Background/purpose: Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a common and extremely burdensome skin disorder with limited therapeutic options. Ultraviolet (UV) phototherapy is a well tolerated, efficacious treatment for AD, but its use is limited by a lack of guidelines in the optimal choice of modality and dosing. Given this deficit, we aim to develop suggestions for the treatment of AD with phototherapy by systematically reviewing the current medical literature. Methods: Data sources: All data sources were identified through searches of MEDLINE via the Ovid interface, the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, and a complementary manual literature search. Study selection: Studies selected for review met these inclusion criteria, as applied by multiple reviewers: controlled clinical trials of UV phototherapy in the management of AD in human subjects as reported in the English-language literature. Studies limited to hand dermatitis and studies in which subjects were allowed unmonitored use of topical corticosteroids or immunomodulators were excluded. Data extraction: Included studies were assessed by multiple independent observers who extracted and compiled the following data: number of patients, duration of treatment, cumulative doses of UV radiation, adverse effects, and study results. Data quality was assessed by comparing data sets and rechecking source materials if a discrepancy occurred. Results: Nine trials that met the inclusion criteria were identified. Three studies demonstrated that UVA1 is both faster and more efficacious than combined UVAB for treating acute AD. Two trials disclosed the advantages of medium dose (50 J/cm2) UVA1 for treating acute AD. Two trials revealed the superiority of combined UVAB in the management of chronic AD. Two additional studies demonstrated that narrow-band UVB is more effective than either broad-band UVA or UVA1 for managing chronic AD. Conclusion: On the basis of available evidence, the following suggestions can be made: phototherapy with medium-dose (50 J/cm2) UVA1, if available, should be used to control acute flares of AD while UVB modalities, specifically narrow-band UVB, should be used for the management of chronic AD.

Low cost supplementary products using maize were developed and made using extrusion. Beta-carotene rich sources like curry leaf, carrot, red palm oil were used at different level to increase vitamin A precursor Levels and, therefore, vitamin A. Incorporation of curry leaf powder and carrot powder at 30 percent level and 30:70 blend of red palm oil and groundnut oil were found to be more acceptable than the products made with other levels. These products were tasted for acceptability by preschool children and were analysed for energy, protein, fat and beta-carotene contents. The control, fresh and stored supplementary products contained 1.707, 1.922, 1.919 MJ, 11.0, 11.6, 10.36 g protein, 10.2, 10.4, 9.64 g fat, 0, 7.37, 6.72 mg beta-carotene per 100 g, respectively. The loss of beta-carotene in processing and storage of curry leaf and carrot supplemented products was 13.69, 6.25 and 20.24, 8.06 percent, respectively.

Others provide nutritional support and some increase the regenerative potential of tissues while others act with anti-inflammatory responses. This article reviews the uses of the plant in different fields of medicine and dentistry.

Multicystic peritoneal mesothelioma is an unusual mesothelial lesion that deserves separate consideration because of its characteristic histologic picture and its benign behavior. In the past, this lesion was often confused with cystic lymphangioma, mesenteric lymphatic cyst, diffuse mesothelioma, and disseminated form of mucin-producing adenocarcinoma. Diagnostic accuracy and long-term follow-up are needed due to high incidence of recurrence. We report a rare case of huge multicystic peritoneal mesothelioma in a 36-year-old woman. At follow-up 18 months after surgery, the patient remained asymptomatic with no further growth.
