The article presents the results and conclusions of a series of tests of wedge-shaped blocks armoring carried out on a new experimental facility (‘Hydraulic Experimentation Facility - Luis Ruano’) in quasi-prototype conditions. The article describes the singular testing facility that was built at the inlet channel of the Acequia de Sora channel, immediately upstream of the Laverné reservoir (Zaragoza, Spain). The inflow of the testing facility has a maximum discharge of 9 m3s-1. The aim is to perform experimental research on technologies to protect embankment dams and dikes against overflowing erosion under quasi-prototype conditions. The results of the tests showed the ability of the WSBs to withstand high unit discharges under extremely negative conditions. Furthermore, conclusions were drawn about potential threats to the sound behavior of the armor.

El objetivo de la presente investigación es determinar la relación entre el clima organizacional y satisfacción laboral en una empresa industrial peruana durante el año 2020. La investigación se desarrolló bajo el enfoque cuantitativo, de diseño y nivel no experimental correlacional, de tipo básica, en la que se empleó el método descriptivo; la muestra estuvo constituida por los 316 empleados o colaboradores de una empresa industrial peruana ubicada en Lima. Se aplicaron los instrumentos de clima laboral y de satisfacción laboral de 20 y 16 ítems, respectivamente. Los resultados descriptivos indican que el 71.20% de los trabajadores perciben el clima organizacional como regular, mientras que la satisfacción laboral es percibida por el 80.70% de los trabajadores con un nivel regular. Se concluye, que existen evidencias suficientes para afirmar que la variable clima organizacional tiene relación positiva media (Rho = 0,559) y significativa (p= 0,000 < 0,05) con la variable satisfacción laboral de una empresa industrial peruana durante el año 2020.

En esta comunicación se expone el estudio realizado para la mejora de la capacidad de desagüe de aliviaderos en tecla de piano mediante la optimización de su diseño geométrico en base a modelación numérica validada físicamente. Se muestra para un cierto diseño base de aliviadero en tecla de piano, el patrón de flujo que induce la geometría y su influencia en la capacidad de desagüe. Se observó una reconducción del flujo por los voladizos del aliviadero, lo que provoca zonas de baja velocidad y concentración de líneas de corriente, dificultando el desagüe. Una vez estudiado el patrón flujo se procedió al rediseño de la geometría del aliviadero, en base a la detección en el modelo numérico de las zonas de baja velocidad inducidas por el contorno geométrico. La nueva geometría de aliviadero optimizada se modeló numéricamente, observándose un aumento de la capacidad de desagüe respecto a la geometría base.

The paper presents an overview on the computational tools developed in CIMNE for the analysis of the behavior of rockfill dams in overtopping scenarios, as well as for the design of protections systems against overtopping. In this latter case two different applications are presented: the design tool for a wedge shaped blocks (WSB) shoulder protection and the computational models for the analysis of the hydraulic performance of highly convergent spillways. Advanced finite element techniques are combined with particle techniques and artificial neural networks in the framework of the Kratos Multiphysics for reaching the optimal solution procedure for any of the above mentioned problems. An extensive validation is carried out using experimental data provided by the SERPA group of the Technical University of Madrid.

Current paper focuses on the analysis of radial gated spillways, which are analyzed by the solution of a numerical model. The Oliana Dam study case is considered and the discharge capacity is predicted both by the application of a level-set based free-surface solver and by the use of traditional empirical formulations The results of the analysis are then used in training an Artificial Neural Network so to allow real-time predictions of the discharge in any situation of energy head and gate opening within the operation range of the reservoir. The comparison of the results obtained with the different methods shows that numerical models can be useful as a predictive tool for the analysis of the hydraulic performance of radial-gated spillways, and highlights some drawbacks regarding the application of the empirical formulas.

The Tsukamurella paurometabola C-924 strain, previously isolated from banana rhizosphere as antagonist of phytoparasitic nematodes, was shown to display other beneficial effects in plants. This work was aimed at determining its growth-promoting activity, and characterizing the main mechanism involved in this process. It was confirmed that T. paurometabola C-924 displays growth-promoting activity in plants through various mechanisms. Therefore, under the tested conditions, T. paurometabola C-924 was able to release indoleacetic acid, solubilize phosphate, produce ammonia from organic matter and release lytic exoenzymes, which may protect plants during the attack of phytopathogens. Its compatibility with other soil microorganisms used as biofertilizers (Rhizobium leguminosarum, Pseudomonas fluorescens and Azotobacter chrococcum) was also tested, favoring the colonization process of mycorrhizogen fungi and stimulating the formation of arbuscular mycorrhizae. It was further determined that T. paurometabola C-924 stimulates the development of economically relevant crops, such as: beans, corn, banana and lettuce, by increasing height, structuring of the radicular system, foliage and dry weight. This was the very first report ever on the growth promoting activity of T. paurometabola, and also in the Tsukamurella genera, describing the processes involved. That strain bears potentialities for application as biofertilizer in different agricultural systems. This research granted the 2013 Award of the Cuban National Academy of Sciences.
