- Abstract
O objetivo do estudo foi identificar ferramentas educativas que promovam saúde bucal entre os pacientes da terceira idade. Trata-se de uma revisão de literatura, com uma busca sistematizada nas bases de dados, Biblioteca Virtual em Saúde, Scielo e Google Acadêmico, empregando os descritores: saúde bucal, idoso, promoção de saúde, jogos e brinquedos. Os critérios de inclusão foram: estudos qualitativos e relatos de experiências. A busca resultou em 1.108 artigos e após a verificação dos critérios de elegibilidade foram incluídos quatro artigos. Os resultados evidenciaram que as ferramentas educativas utilizadas na promoção da saúde bucal entre os idosos foram: atividades lúdico-educativas, palestras e rodas de conversas, orientação de higiene bucal e distribuição de escovas e cremes dentais. Assim, as ferramentas educativas podem capacitar e apoiar os idosos nas tomadas de decisões a fim de garantir um cuidado seguro, confiável e que promova longevidade com qualidade de vida, bem como auxiliar na manutenção da saúde geral e saúde bucal dos mesmos.

Maternal postpartum depression, one of the most prevalent and incapacitating side effects of motherhood, is frequently underdiagnosed and undertreated. However, treatment results are still far from ideal. It has recently come to light that dietary changes are linked to changes in gut flora, which raises health risks and makes people more susceptible to a number of diseases. The gut microbiota plays a significant regulating role in the progression of psychiatric illnesses such postpartum depression. Probiotics and prebiotics have recently acquired popularity in studies on mental health and disease. In this review, the authors explore the connection between postpartum depression and gut microbiota, risk factors and how probiotic bacteria work to lessen symptoms, as well as the possibility of using probiotic bacteria as a useful postpartum depression therapy component.

12. Comparison of Adjuvant Effects of Montanide ISA-720 and Heat Shock Protein 27 in Increasing Immunostimulatory Properties of HIV-1 Nef-Vif Fusion Protein Construct

Introduction:: Effective T-cell-mediated immunity has emerged as an essential component of human immunodeficiency virus-1 (HIV-1) vaccination. Thus, inducing an immune response against HIV proteins such as Nef and Vif, two major accessory proteins with critical roles in HIV pathogenesis and immune evasion, may lead to an effective approach. Aim: Our goal is to evaluate and compare Montanide ISA-720 and heat shock protein 27 in increasing immunostimulatory properties of HIV-1 Nef-Vif fusion protein as a vaccine candidate. Methods: In this study, the nef-vif fusion gene with and without the heat shock protein 27 (hsp27) gene was cloned in the prokaryotic pET24a (+) vector. Then, the recombinant Nef-Vif and Hsp27-Nef- Vif proteins were generated in the E. coli system. Finally, their immunostimulatory properties were evaluated in mice. Indeed, the potency of Hsp27 as an endogenous natural adjuvant was investigated to enhance HIV-1 Nef-Vif antigen-specific immunity compared to Montanide ISA-720 as a commercial adjuvant in protein-based immunization strategy. Results: Our results approved the role of Hsp27 as an effective adjuvant in the stimulation of B- and T-cell immunity. The linkage of Hsp27 to antigen could elicit higher levels of IgG1, IgG2a, IFN-γ, IL- 5 and Granzyme B than antigen mixed with Montanide ISA-720. Moreover, the ratios of IFN-γ/IL-5 and IgG2a/IgG1 were significantly increased in groups receiving Nef-Vif protein + Montanide ISA- 720 and Hsp27-Nef-Vif protein indicating the direction of the immune response pathway toward strong Th1 response. These ratios were higher in the group receiving Hsp27-Nef-Vif protein than in the group receiving Nef-Vif protein + Montanide ISA-720. Conclusion: Our findings suggest that Hsp27 can be used as an effective adjuvant to enhance antigenspecific immune responses in HIV-1 infectious models for therapeutic vaccine development.

Computed tomography exams are considered diagnostic imaging exams that generate significant radiation dose to the patient. Justification, optimization, and dose limitation are radiological protection principles used to minimize patient and staff exposure, ensuring the quality of the service provided. The objective of this study was to analyze CT scan data, analyzing the number of exams, the patients' effective cumulated dose, and the repeatability of the exams. The study data covers the 2013 to 2022 period during which a progressive increase was observed in the number of exams performed over time, with exams doubling in this period. The most used Computed Tomography protocols were brain/skull (27.4%), pelvis (17.3%), and abdomen (13.7%) during the study period. Approximately 76.3% of patients have a cumulative dose of less than 25 mSv, while about 1% accumulated more than 100 mSv. The repeatability of CT scans for the same patient over a short period varies, reaching until 17 scans in 30 days for a single patient. The results indicated a necessity to develop strategies for individual dose management methods for the institution’s internal practices. An intervention could be implemented by creating periodically updated handouts and guidelines based on professionals' knowledge.

17. Physiological Response of a Natural Central Incisor Tooth to Various Loading Conditions: A 3D Finite Element Study

This study evaluates the influence of different loading angles and the area of loading on the ensuing stress distribution and the physical response of a natural central incisor tooth, using a 3D finite element analysis. The CAD model of the incisor tooth assembly (including enamel, dentin, periodontal ligament, pulp, gingiva and jaw bone) was subject to an external (chewing) load of 100 N, over four different areas and at four different angles along the vertical. It was observed that the tooth experiences high von-Mises equivalent stresses and high bending when the load applied is closer to the incisal edge of the crown. Also, the stresses on the dentin, in general, increased with the increase in the loading angle regardless of the area of loading; with the highest stress (~70 MPa) generated at 45° angle. The percentage change observed in dentin von-Mises stresses was higher than that of enamel when the loading angle was increased from 0° to 45°, because of the higher stiffness of enamel and structural differences in enamel and dentin. The numerical results indicated that applying loads on incisal edge would simulate a severe loading condition for the incisor tooth.

18. Failure to post-dilate BeSmooth peripheral stents to adult vessel size diameters during benchside tests

Background: Low-profile stent implantation remains a rescue treatment for aortic coarctation and branch pulmonary arteries stenosis in small children. Stent re-expansion to cope with vascular growth remains problematic. Objectives: To evaluate ex vivo feasibility and mechanical behaviour of over-dilating BeSmooth peripheral stents (Bentley InnoMed, Germany). Methods: Three BeSmooth peripheral stents in diameters of 7, 8, and 10 mm were dilated to nominal pressure and then 13 atm. BeSmooth Ø7 × 23 mm was sequentially post-dilated using 12, 14, and 16 mm high-pressure balloons. BeSmooth Ø10 × 57 mm was post-dilated with a 14 mm balloon and then with a 48 mm bare-metal Optimus XXL stent hand-mounted on a 14 mm balloon (stent-in-stent). BeSmooth Ø8 × 57 mm was directly post-dilated with a 48 mm bare-metal Optimus XXL stent hand-mounted on a 16 mm balloon (stent-in-stent). The stents’ diameter and length were measured. Digital inflation pressure was noted. Balloon rupture and stent fracture patterns were closely evaluated. Results: At 20atm pressure, BeSmooth Ø7 × 23 mm shortened to 2 mm forming a 12 mm diameter solid ring circle and the woven balloon ruptured radially. At 10 atm pressure, BeSmooth Ø10 × 57 mm fractured longitudinally in various dispatched breaking points at a diameter of 13 mm without shortening and ruptured the balloon with multiple pinholes. At 10 atm pressure, BeSmooth Ø8 × 57 mm fractured centrally at three different points at a diameter of 11.5 mm without shortening and the balloon broke radially in half. Conclusions: In our benchmark tests, extreme shortening, severe balloon rupture, or unpredictable stent fracture patterns at small balloon diameters limits safe post-dilation of BeSmooth stents beyond 13 mm. BeSmooth stents are not ideal candidates for off-label stent interventions in smaller patients.

BACKGROUND: Moderate-intensity interval training (MIIT) may be a viable exercise format for improving body composition, aerobic fitness, and health-related variables. OBJECTIVES: This randomized trial aimed to analyze the effect of MIIT or high-intensity interval training (HIIT) on aerobic fitness, body composition variables, and resting metabolic rate (RMR) in women with overweight or obesity. METHODS: 31 sedentary adult women with overweight or obesity performed 7 weeks × 3 weekly sessions of either HIIT or MIIT. Physical and physiological tests were applied before and after training. RESULTS: In both analyses (intention-to-treat and by adherence to the training), aerobic fitness showed a time effect (p= 0.041 and p= 0.015), but without differences between groups (p> 0.05). No group (HIIT vs. MIIT), time (pre vs. post), or interaction effects (group vs. time) were found for RMR, body composition markers (fat mass, body fat percentage, lean mass), or body mass index – BMI (p> 0.05). In addition, MIIT induced a relatively high drop-out rate. CONCLUSIONS: This study suggested that the short-term (7-weeks) interval exercise training was effective for increasing aerobic fitness, and moderate-intensity intervals were as effective as high-intensity intervals. However, neither training format was effective for changing RMR, body composition variables, or BMI of women with overweight or obesity. Clinical trial ID: RBR-9jd7b7.

20. POVOS INDÍGENAS: MULTICULTURALISMO E RECONHECIMENTO

For many years, indigenous peoples have been the target of a civilization attempt, resulting in their oppression, through an ethnic discrimination, living in a complex and difficult circumstance, which is characterized by situations of poverty and exclusion, where the cultural ethos is not recognized, consequently destructing the original cultural identity of these peoples. In contemporary society, with the ongoing process of globalization, where the prominence of economic development is unleashed over the other dimensions of social life, instead of bringing to light a scenario of cooperation and dialogue between different countries, peoples and cultures, it threatens to constitute a monologue and cultural imposition, urging the need of recognizing the characteristics of each cultural space. In this sense, the proposal is to reflect on the perspectives of indigenous cultures that are strongly disrupted by the unique thinking that was imposed all over the world, which, to be legitimized, uses legal and moral arguments to defend certain universal values. A stereotyped image of indigenous peoples has been established, as if they were an obstacle for the development of our societies, arising an attempt at cultural hegemony. Social conflicts are increasingly related to issues of differences recognition that figure in a highlight position when it comes about the fights for multiculturalism, where one seeks to promote universal respect for shared humanity and esteem for different cultures due to their specificities. The recognition policy that will be discussed works together with the redistribution policies, where one does not replace or exclude the other, in order to stimulate the interaction between differences and protection of human rights, otherwise, the forces that promote inequality and oppression would be reenforced, rather than acting towards the recognition of indigenous peoples.

PurposeWhen improving business processes, process analysts can use data-driven methods, such as process mining, to identify improvement opportunities. However, despite being supported by data, process analysts decide which changes to implement. Analysts often use process visualisations to assess and determine which changes to pursue. This paper helps explore how process mining visualisations can aid process analysts in their work to identify, prioritise and communicate business process improvement opportunities.Design/methodology/approachThe study follows the design science methodology to create and evaluate an artefact for visualising identified improvement opportunities (IRVIN).FindingsA set of principles to facilitate the visualisation of process mining outputs for analysts to work with improvement opportunities was suggested. Particularly, insights into identifying, prioritising and communicating process improvement opportunities from visual representation are outlined.Originality/valuePrior work focuses on visualisation from the perspectives – among others – of process exploration, process comparison and performance analysis. This study, however, considers process mining visualisation that aids in analysing process improvement opportunities.

Negli ultimi anni vi è stato un incremento dell'incidenza e della prevalen- za del tumore in Italia e nel mondo. Anche il tasso di mortalità post-pan- demico è in aumento rispetto agli anni precedenti. La CoViD-19 ha, infatti, creato un ritardo diagnostico e un inizio di cura tardivo, riducendo così in molti casi la probabilità di guarigione. Nei siti ufficiali dedicati all'informazione sul cancro in Italia (Aimac, Airc), nei report di associazioni nazionali come l'Associazione Italiana Oncologia Medica (Aiom) e nella pagina "prevenzione dei tumori" del Ministero della Salute sono ri- portati i fattori di rischio della malattia oncologica, ma non sono citati gli aspetti psicologici nonostante le evidenze sempre più numerose sul loro significativo contributo. La seguente revisione narrativa ha lo scopo di evidenziare, grazie ai complessi meccanismi epigenetici, l'influenza sulla carcinogenesi dei fattori di rischio più noti e condivisi come gli stili di vita e l'ambiente, ma anche di quelli meno pubblicizzati, come il contesto sociale e la percezione del sé. Questa complessa multifattorialità della malattia oncologica può rappresentare per i professionisti sanitari l'op- portunità di riorientare lo sguardo di cura in ottica Pnei promuovendo un approccio integrato.

O presente trabalho analisou os direitos fundamentais, em específico o direito à saúde, dos povos indígenas da Amazônia brasileira frente ao contexto da pandemia da COVID-19. A pesquisa teve como base o ordenamento jurídico brasileiro, por meio da aplicação dos direitos fundamentais, tendo como enfoque o direito à saúde dos indígenas da Amazônia brasileira diante do contexto de pandemia e como o Estado e as autoridades governamentais atuaram em relação a essa problemática para sanar os empecilhos para isso, a fim de fazer valer o que está previsto em muitos mecanismos normativos. A metodologia da pesquisa utilizada possui caráter teórico-analítico através de uma conciliação entre os métodos qualitativos e quantitativos. Posteriormente, foi demonstrado um levantamento de dados de pesquisas estatísticas que foram realizadas por instituições como a Articulação dos Povos Indígenas do Brasil (APIB) e a coordenação das Organizações indígenas da Amazônia Brasileira (COIAB) durante os períodos mais críticos de contaminação e óbitos causados pela COVID-19 entre a população indígena, através dessa análise comparativa notou-se que havia uma subnotificação de casos. Por fim, concluiu-se que apesar das medidas tomadas durante o período para o combate a pandemia da COVID-19 o dever de cooperação entre as instituições foi insuficiente.

26. Coming to practice differently in the workplace: a practice architectures exploration of workplace learning in times of change

The recent pandemic resulted in significant changes in workplaces that saw people come to live and work differently. What was previously experienced and understood to be the ‘workplace’, along with associated work practices, has shifted and the construct of the workplace has become multiple as more people work remotely. We propose that these changes have also shifted practices of working, providing significant insights into how learning may be happening, not in ‘workplaces’ but rather in reformed ‘sites’ of work. To explore changed work and learning practices in sites of work, we adopt the Theory of Practice Architectures to explore how workers in managing roles learned to practise their work differently in newly formed sites of work. This article provides evidence from semi-structured interviews with 12 managers during the changes wrought during the pandemic in Australia using the ‘Interview to the double’ approach. We highlight how the managers understood their changes in work and shows empirically how the concept of ‘workplace learning’ requires a reconceptualization of learning that rejects a focus on learning as defined by process and instead adopts a practice-based definition of learning as ‘coming to practice differently’.

O objetivo do estudo é analisar o financiamento e operacionalização da política de assistência social a partir da Emenda Constitucional 95 de 2016, relacionados ao desenvolvimento dos municípios da 7ª Regional de Assistência Social sediada em Pato Branco, Paraná. A metodologia incluiu a triangulação de métodos quantitativos e qualitativos, com pesquisa documental e entrevistas. O grupo amostral foi constituído por dois contadores e seis gestores dos municípios da Regional com os três maiores e os três menores Índices de Desenvolvimento Humano Municipal. Os resultados indicam que os principais problemas e desafios relacionados ao financiamento e operacionalização da assistência social a partir da Emenda, e agravados durante a pandemia de Covid-19, dizem respeito à imprecisão orçamentária, insuficiência de recursos, gestão da força de trabalho, manutenção da estrutura física e atendimento das necessidades sociais da população. Mesoporous titanosilicates (TiSil) with a size of almost 25 nm were prepared by an alkali-assisted hydro-thermal route, as an choice for developing efficient adsorbents of Th(IV) ions. TiSil were functionalized with the amino functional group (-NH2) from 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane (APTES) by post-preparation method. The obtained amino-grafted titanosilicates (TiSilNH2) were characterized by Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Brunauer–Emmett–Teller (BET), X-ray Diffraction (XRD) and Fourier-Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) techniques. Adsorption of Th(IV) ions on TiSilNH2 was examined in aqueous solution. Response surface methodology (RSM) based on central composite design (CCD) was applied to optimize the four essential process variables namely initial pH and initial concentration of Th(IV) ions of aqueous solution, amount of adsorbent, and adsorption process temperature for the Th(IV) removal. The adequacy of the model was investigated, and it was deemed to be statistically significant. The optimal predicted adsorption capacity of TiSilNH2 for Th(IV) ions was 83.04 mg/g and the actual value was 84.8 mg/g. The equilibrium adsorption data were fitted to Langmuir, Freundlich, Dubinin–Radushkevich and Temkin isotherm models. The equi-librium data were best re-presented by Langmuir isotherm model, showing maximum monolayer adsorption capacity of 87.71 mg/g. The thermodynamic parameters indicated that the Th(IV) adsorption on the TiSilNH2 was a spontaneous, and endo-thermic process at the studied temperatures and occurred via physisorption. Adsorbent recovery by using 0.5 M HNO3 solution for adsorbent reuse indicated that the adsorbent was regenerable and could be employed frequently.

In neonatal Ebstein’s anomaly of the tricuspid valve, prolonged ductal patency in patients without anatomic pulmonary valve atresia can be deleterious. Circular shunts may develop in patients with different degrees of pulmonary and tricuspid insufficiency. Closure of the arterial duct may result in haemodynamic improvement in particular scenarios. The transcatheter approach is a valuable closure alternative despite some technical difficulties in large-sized arterial ducts and low birth weight neonates. Herein, we report on two consecutive term newborns with Ebstein’s anomaly and large arterial ducts in whom mechanical stimulus of the arterial duct during failed attempts of transcatheter closure led after two days to definitive closure followed by good clinical outcomes.

Breast cancer is the most common type of cancer in women worldwide, with the luminal subtype being the most widespread. Although characterized by better prognosis compared with other subtypes, luminal breast cancer is still considered a threatening disease due to therapy resistance, which occurs via both cell- and non–cell-autonomous mechanisms. Jumonji domain-containing 6, arginine demethylase and lysine hydroxylase (JMJD6) is endowed with a negative prognostic value in luminal breast cancer and, via its epigenetic activity, it is known to regulate many intrinsic cancer cell pathways. So far, the effect of JMJD6 in molding the surrounding microenvironment has not been explored. Here, we describe a novel function of JMJD6 showing that its genetic inhibition in breast cancer cells suppresses lipid droplet formation and ANXA1 expression, via estrogen receptor alpha and PPARα modulation. Reduction of intracellular ANXA1 results in decreased release in the tumor microenvironment (TME), ultimately preventing M2-type macrophage polarization and tumor aggressiveness. Implications: Our findings identify JMJD6 as a determinant of breast cancer aggressiveness and provide the rationale for the development of inhibitory molecules to reduce disease progression also through the remodeling of TME composition.

PURPOSE Binary cardiac response assessment using cardiac biomarkers is prognostic in light chain amyloidosis. Previous studies suggested four-level cardiac responses using N-terminal prohormone of brain natiuretic peptide improves prognostic prediction. This study was designed to validate graded cardiac response criteria using N-terminal prohormone of brain natiuretic peptide/brain natiuretic peptide. PATIENTS AND METHODS This retrospective, multicenter study included patients with light chain amyloidosis who achieved at least a hematologic partial response (PR) and were evaluable for cardiac response. Four response criteria were tested on the basis of natriuretic peptide response depth: cardiac complete response (CarCR), cardiac very good partial response (CarVGPR), cardiac PR (CarPR), and cardiac no response (CarNR). Response was classified as best response and at fixed time points (6, 12, and 24 months from therapy initiation). The study primary outcome was overall survival. RESULTS 651 patients were included. Best CarCR, CarVGPR, CarPR, and CarNR were achieved in 16%, 26.4%, 22.9%, and 34.7% of patients, respectively. Patients in cardiac stage II were more likely to achieve CarCR than patients in cardiac stage IIIA and IIIB (22% v 13.5% v 3.2%; P < .001). A deeper cardiac response was associated with a longer survival (5-year overall survival 93%, 79%, 65%, and 33% for CarCR, CarVGPR, CarPR, and CarNR, respectively; P < .001). Fixed time-point analyses and time-varying covariates Cox regression analysis, to minimize survivorship bias, affirmed the independent survival advantage of deeper cardiac responses. Four-level response performed better than two-level response as early as 12 months from therapy initiation. CONCLUSION Graded cardiac response criteria allow better assessment of cardiac improvement compared with the traditional binary response system. The study re-emphasizes the importance of early diagnosis, which increases the likelihood of deep cardiac responses.

33. Evaluation of Snowfall Retrieval Performance of GPM Constellation Radiometers Relative to Spaceborne Radars

This study assesses the level-2 snowfall retrieval results from 11 passive microwave radiometers generated by the version 5 Goddard profiling algorithm (GPROF) relative to two spaceborne radars: CloudSat Cloud Profiling Radar (CPR) and Global Precipitation Measurement (GPM) Ku-band Precipitation Radar (KuPR). These 11 radiometers include six conical scanning radiometers [Advanced Microwave Scanning Radiometer for the Earth Observing System (AMSR-E), its successor sensor AMSR2, GPM Microwave Imager (GMI), and three Special Sensor Microwave Imager/Sounders (SSMIS)] and five cross-track scanning radiometers [Advanced Technology Microwave Sounder (ATMS) and four Microwave Humidity Sounders (MHS)]. Results show that over ocean conical scanning radiometers have better detection and intensity estimation skills than cross-track sensors, likely due to the availability and usage of the low-frequency channels (e.g., 19 and 37 GHz). Over land, AMSR-E and AMSR2 have noticeably worse performance than other sensors, primarily due to the lack of higher than 89-GHz channels (e.g., 150, 166, and 183 GHz). Over both land and ocean, all 11 sensors severely underestimate the snowfall intensity, which propagates to the widely used level 3 precipitation product [i.e., Integrated Multi-satelliteE Retrievals for GPM (IMERG)]. These conclusions hold regardless of using either KuPR or CPR as the reference, though the statistical metrics vary quantitatively. The conclusions drawn from these comparisons apply solely to the GPROF version 5 algorithm.

A novel approach to designing the encapsulation for a high-temperature ultrasonic transducer to be capable of continuous operation over a temperature range of 25 to 650 °C is proposed. The transducer’s active element is a heavily damped lithium niobate disc of 3 MHz resonance frequency, operating in pulse-echo mode. The initial encapsulation design is developed based on the geometrical, thermal, mechanical, electrical, and ultrasonic requirements. Two finite element modeling systems are developed to analyze the thermal-induced stresses in the transducer at low and high temperatures as well as its ultrasonic performance. The simulation results are used to optimize the design before manufacturing a transducer prototype. The prototype is tested at room and elevated temperatures to verify performance.

Background. Mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA) is a commonly used endodontic biomaterial. The physicochemical properties of MTA have a crucial role in designating clinical outcome, and different factors can affect these properties. Various methods have been used for mixing MTA, including manual, mechanical, and ultrasonic. The aim of this systematic review was to evaluate the effect of different mixing methods on the physicochemical properties of MTA. Materials and Methods. Electronic databases including PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, and Scopus were searched up to May 2022. In order to cover gray literature, the ProQuest and Google Scholar databases were also searched to detect theses and conference proceedings. For quality assessment of the included studies, we used a modified version of the Cochrane risk of bias tool for randomized controlled trials (RCTs). Experimental studies which had assessed at least one property of MTA and compared at least two different mixing methods of MTA were included in this study. All animal studies, reviews, case reports, and case series were excluded. Results. Fourteen studies were included. The results showed that the ultrasonic mixing method significantly improved some MTA characteristics, including microhardness, flowability, solubility, setting time, and porosity. However, the mechanical mixing method improved other properties including flowability, solubility, push-out bond strength, and hydration. The manual mixing method showed inferior results compared to other mixing methods in terms of microhardness, flowability, solubility, setting time, push-out bond strength, porosity, and hydration. Different mixing methods had a similar effect on compressive strength, sealing ability, pH and calcium ion release, volume change, film thickness, and flexural strength of MTA. Conclusion. Mechanical and ultrasonic mixing methods are superior to the manual mixing method in terms of improving physicochemical properties of MTA. No report of selection bias and varieties in methodologies were limitations of evidence.

This study uses a form of literature study research by applying several journals that discuss human resources in an organization, based on journal searches through several journal search sites. These journals were selected using the keyword criteria available in this study. Then, after the selection of criteria is completed. So next, it will use drawing conclusions from various journals and strengthened by theories drawn from various references. In the results of the study, several conclusions were obtained, the results of which were as follows; (1) Human resource aspects have been widely used and utilized in organizational structures. The results of this study are in determining the relationship between strategic human resource management practices and employee commitment has a direct impact on employee commitment. Quality control tests are mandatory and essential to monitor Magnetic Resonance Imaging equipment. These assist in determining improper functioning or parameters below established reference levels. The objective of this study was to perform quality control tests in magnetic resonance imaging equipment and to compare their methodology with both FLUKE and KONEX phantoms. Different protocols were used for their evaluation, including the American Association of Physics in Medicine, the American College of Radiologists, and the Brazilian National Health Surveillance Agency. In this study, we demonstrated the results for the most critical tests: slice thickness accuracy, slice position accuracy, high-contrast spatial resolution, low-contrast resolution, magnetic field, and slice thickness uniformity. The results are that, although both phantom objects are efficient for carrying out the tests required in Brazilian regulations, the KONEX phantom consumes less time, as it requires less to image all its structures. The FLUKE phantoms need a longer acquisition time to obtain all test structures and object images. Nevertheless, the results obtained in both are within limits required by Brazilian regulations and limits suggested by the manufacturers' manuals. This work is expected to be a basis for other physicians and services using similar phantoms.

I ricordi non trattati di un trauma sono spesso frammentati, disorganizzati e possono essere facilmente attivati sotto forma di pensieri intrusivi per cui i soggetti traumatizzati sperimentano varie forme di disagio psicologico. L'intervento di scrittura espressiva si è dimostrato essere un valido strumento come supporto nelle situazioni di stress evidenziando un generalizzato effetto positivo sulla salute. La scrittura espressiva, traducendo i pensieri e le emozioni traumatiche in linguaggio, aiuta i soggetti traumatizzati a dare un senso agli eventi sconvolgenti, a gestire le emozioni negative e migliora le loro connessioni con il mondo sociale. Questa ricerca si è posta l'obiettivo di verificare l'effetto di un protocollo di scrittura espressiva in un contesto non clinico, rappresentato da un campione di giovani adulti studenti universitari ed in particolare, ha inteso studiare gli effetti della scrittura espressiva nel mitigare eventuali problematiche psicologiche legate a eventi stressanti e/o traumatici.I risultati hanno confermato una discreta efficacia del protocollo di scrittura espressiva soprattutto nel sostenere un potenziamento delle risorse di coping personali e di adattamento rispetto agli esiti degli eventi stressanti vissuti.

Objectives Early-life disadvantage (ELD) relates to lower late-life cognition. However, personality factors, including having an internal locus of control (LOC) or a conscientious personality, relate to resilience and effective stress coping. We explore whether personality factors convey resilience against the negative effects of ELD on cognition, by gender, in Mexico. Methods Using the 2015 Mexican Health and Aging Study, we estimated expected cognition using multiple ELD markers to identify a subsample in the lowest quartile of expected cognition given ELD (n = 2,086). In this subsample, we estimated cross-sectional associations between personality and having above-median observed cognitive ability (n = 522) using logistic regression. Results Among those in the lowest quartile of expected cognition, a more internal LOC (β = 0.32 [men] and β = 0.44 [women]) and conscientious personality (β = 0.39 [men] and β = 0.17 [women]) were significantly associated with having above-median cognitive ability in models adjusted for demographic confounders. Larger benefits of conscientiousness were observed for men than women. Associations between personality and having above-median cognitive ability remained statistically significant after further adjustment for health, stress, and cognitive stimulation variables, regardless of gender. Discussion Personality factors may convey resilience among individuals who experienced ELD, potentially breaking the link between ELD and worse late-life cognition. Structural factors and gender roles may affect how much women benefit from personality factors.

A long-standing recognition that information from human genetics studies has the potential to accelerate drug discovery has led to decades of research on how to leverage genetic and phenotypic information for drug discovery. Established simple and advanced statistical methods that allow the simultaneous analysis of genotype and clinical phenotype data by genome- and phenome-wide analyses, colocalization analyses with quantitative trait loci data from transcriptomics and proteomics data sets from different tissues, and Mendelian randomization are essential tools for drug development in the postgenomic era. Numerous studies have demonstrated how genomic data provide opportunities for the identification of new drug targets, the repurposing of drugs, and drug safety analyses. With an increase in the number of biobanks that enable linking in-depth omics data with rich repositories of phenotypic traits via electronic health records, more powerful ways for the evaluation and validation of drug targets will continue to expand across different disciplines of clinical research.
