The rapidly increasing number of drones in the national airspace, including those for recreational and commercial applications, has raised concerns regarding misuse. Autonomous drone detection systems offer a probable solution to overcoming the issue of potential drone misuse, such as drug smuggling, violating people’s privacy, etc. Detecting drones can be difficult, due to similar objects in the sky, such as airplanes and birds. In addition, automated drone detection systems need to be trained with ample amounts of data to provide high accuracy. Real-time detection is also necessary, but this requires highly configured devices such as a graphical processing unit (GPU). The present study sought to overcome these challenges by proposing a one-shot detector called You Only Look Once version 5 (YOLOv5), which can train the proposed model using pre-trained weights and data augmentation. The trained model was evaluated using mean average precision (mAP) and recall measures. The model achieved a 90.40% mAP, a 21.57% improvement over our previous model that used You Only Look Once version 4 (YOLOv4) and was tested on the same dataset.

The aim of the paper is to investigate the reception of The Flights by Olga Tokarczuk in Spanish-speaking countries on the basis of the press reviews published in 2019/2020. In total 29 texts have been analysed, mainly reviews. The texts have been analysed in regard to the content and key words. Two main tendencies of reading have been discerned: biographical and universal. It has been demonstrated that Tokarczuk was recognized in Spain after having been awarded Nobel Prize and she started to be perceived as a discovery and a new woman’s voice in European literature. Celem artykułu jest zbadanie recepcji Biegunów Olgi Tokarczuk w hiszpańskojęzycznym kręgu kulturowym w oparciu o teksty dziennikarskie opublikowane na przełomie 2019 i 2020 roku. Zbadano łącznie 29 tekstów o różnym charakterze, głównie recenzji. Teksty poddano analizie pod względem zawartości i słów kluczy. W omawianych artykułach zaobserwowano dwie tendencje w sposobie odczytywania powieści: lekturę biograficzną i uniwersalną. Wykazano, że Tokarczuk została dostrzeżona w Hiszpanii dopiero po otrzymaniu Nagrody Nobla i zaczęła być traktowana jako odkrycie i nowy głos kobiety w literaturze europejskiej.

In the Mediterranean, field survey has been the most widely used method to detect archaeological sites in arable fields since the 1970s. Through survey, data about the state of preservation of ancient settlements have been extensively mapped by archaeologists over large rural landscapes using paper media (e.g., topographical maps) or GPS and GIS technologies. These legacy data are unique and irreplaceable for heritage management in landscape planning, territorial monitoring of cultural resources, and spatial data analysis to study past settlement patterns in academic research (especially in landscape archaeology). However, legacy data are at risk due to often improper digital curation and the dramatic land transformation that is affecting several regions. To access this vast knowledge production and allow for its dissemination, this paper presents a method based on student internships in data digitisation to review, digitise, and integrate archaeological primary survey data. A pilot study for Central–Southern Italy and the Iberian Peninsula exemplifies how the method works in practice. It is concluded that there are clear benefits for cultural resource management, academic research, and the students themselves. This method can thus help us to achieve large-scale collection, digitisation, integration, accessibility, and reuse of field survey datasets, as well as compare survey data on a supranational scale.

Ribociclib plus an aromatase inhibitor and ovarian function suppression is the preferred first-line option for pre-/perimenopausal women with hormone receptor-positive/human epidermal growth factor receptor-2-negative advanced or metastatic breast cancer. We opened an italian managed access program (MAP) that permitted access to ribociclib to selected patients and allowed to collect informative results on the clinical impact of the therapy. The MAP (April 2018–May 2020) included 64 premenopausal patients, with characteristics similar to those of the MONALEESA-7 trial. Of 57 patients with a known response, 48 (84.2%) achieved a clinical benefit (i.e., complete response, N = 7 (12.3%); partial response, N = 17 (29.8%); stable disease, N = 24 (42.1%)), while 9 (15.8%) experienced tumor progression. Some patients (N = 15–23.4%) needed ribociclib dose reduction because of adverse events. Thereafter, the treatment was well tolerated, and no new safety signals emerged. Our study is the first reported Italian real-world evidence of ribociclib effectiveness in premenopausal HR+/HER2− advanced breast cancer patients. Response and clinical benefit rates were particularly encouraging compared with those of the ribociclib group of MONALEESA-7. Our work confirms that ribociclib in combination with endocrine therapy is highly effective in the treatment of premenopausal HR+/HER2− advanced breast cancer patients with an expected safety profile.

GIS technologies are convenient for collecting spatial data, providing in detail a way to control, analyze and demonstrate them. GIS maps have become an important tool for making optimal decisions in a variety of areas, including urban planning, environmental management, and disaster response. This article presents important methodologies in the creation of the GIS map. The article will also discuss the various GIS programs and their features that are currently available when creating maps.

Background Schools provide opportunities to improve the quality of children's diet, whilst reducing inequalities in childhood diet and health. Evidence supports whole school approaches, including consistency in food quality, eating culture and food education. However, such approaches are often poorly implemented due to the highly complex environments in which schools operate. We aimed to develop a school food systems map using a systems thinking approach to help identify the key factors influencing primary school children’s dietary choice. Methods Eight workshops were conducted with 80 children (from schools from varying locations (region of England/UK; urban/rural), deprivation levels and prioritisation of school food policies)) and 11 workshops were held with 82 adult stakeholders across the UK (principals, teachers, caterers, school governors, parents, and local and voluntary sector organisations) to identify factors that influence food choice in children across a school day and their inter-relationships. Initial exploratory workshops started with a ‘blank canvas’ using a group model building approach. Later workshops consolidated findings and supported a wider discussion of factors, relationships and influences within the systems map. Strengths of the relationship between factors/nodes were agreed by stakeholders and individually depicted on the map. We facilitated an additional eight interactive, in-person workshops with children to map their activities across a whole school day to enable the production of a journey map which was shared with stakeholders in workshops to facilitate discussion. Results The final ‘CONNECTS-Food’ systems map included 202 factors that were grouped into 27 nodes. Thematic analysis identified four key themes: leadership and curriculum; child food preference; home environment; and school food environment. Network analysis highlighted key factors that influence child diet across a school day, which were largely in keeping with the thematic analysis; including: 'available funds/resources', 'awareness of initiatives and resources', 'child food preference and intake', 'eligibility of free school meals', 'family circumstances and eating behaviours', 'peer/social norms', 'priorities of head teachers and senior leaders'. Conclusions Our systems map demonstrates the need to consider factors external to schools and their food environments. The map supports the identification of potential actions, interventions and policies to facilitate a systems-wide positive impact on children’s diets.

A study was conducted to record the effect of modified atmospheric packaging (MAP), storage conditions (ambient, zero energy cool chamber and refrigerated) as well as storage period on shelf-life and quality of tomatoes produced through Subhash Palekar natural farming (SPNF) and chemical farming (CHEM) systems. Freshly harvested tomatoes (SPNF and CHEM) packed in LDPE pouches (25.40 μm and 10 pin holes/100 cm2 area) and without packaging were stored under ambient (27±2 °C and 70±2% RH), zero energy cool chamber (ZECC) (17±2 °C and 82 ±2 % RH) and low temperature conditions (10±2 ºC and 90 % RH) for shelf-life studies. The shelf-life comparison was done at every two days’ interval up to 24 days based on physiological loss in weight (PLW) and spoilage percentage. SPNF and CHEM tomatoes were compared on the basis of quality attributes (firmness, acidity, TSS, sugars, total phenols, antioxidant activity etc.), mineral content and sensory characteristics. Results revealed that tomato stored in refrigerated condition had significantly (p ˂0.05) lowest PLW and spoilage incidence and highest sensory acceptability up to 24 days and was at par with ZECC stored tomatoes. Quality evaluation indicated that tomatoes grown under SPNF system contained a higher amount of total solids, total sugars, reducing sugars, ascorbic acid, total phenols and ash. The results showed that tomatoes with MAP and stored under refrigerated storage condition retained maximum quality up to 24 days followed by tomatoes stored under ZECC (18 days) compared to 12 days at ambient conditions.

The aim of this article is to show how a Ricœurian approach to space and place is likely to raise issues about geography and even cartography, rather than just ontological topology in a Heideggerian fashion. Two steps will lead towards that conclusion: the first concerns the role of Ricœur’s long détour in the transition from a transcendental—therefore empty—notion of place to the concrete plurality of places, which turns them into matters for interpretation; the second shows how the task of interpreting of places implies distanciation and even objectification, through which they are constituted as objects of scientific and critical investigation. Maps will be introduced at that point as specific interpretations of places, halfway between text and images, between the subject and the object, and between science and art.

Data visualisations are intimately connected to the emergence of public health as a discipline and policy area. Besides the mapping of cases and deaths, the COVID-19 pandemic has seen an explosion of attempts to track policy responses. They have come from actors sometimes initially unfamiliar with public and global health. In this paper, we analyse seven of the most successful tracker initiatives that have sought to map governments’ reactions to COVID-19 and reflect on our own. When not led by international organisations, the trackers primarily rely on networks of volunteer country expert contributors (who need to be incentivised in the medium term). The vertical crowdsourcing approach means that, despite good intentions, contributors have a relatively limited agency in shaping the trackers. Maps and timelines comparing countries are the most popular visualisations; they suggest that (some) policy solutions can be found abroad and rely on policy taxonomies established by the trackers’ core teams. We contend that such taxonomies, which compete with each other, constitute attempts to frame the complex issue of which policies matter in responding to COVID-19. All the projects are large and complex and often without a well-defined intended audience. We hypothesise that the popularity (in terms of backlinks) of the most successful tracker arises from the fact that it sums up COVID-19 policies in one easily visualisable indicator. We suggest that the trackers are a more helpful emergency policy tool when they provide contextual information, keep policy details or refer to them (rather than only reduce them to categories), and suggest ways to link different elements—including the relationship between health or societal outcomes and policies.

This study aims to describe the process of developing problem-based learning, analyze the results of the device development, describe student's problem solving with problem-based learning on the scale materials on the map. This research uses research and development (R&D) type, namely 4D-Model (Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate). The developed learning tools are including; lesson plans (RPP), LKPD, and a problem-solving ability test (KPM). The results of the development of the scale learning device on the map is valid, practical and effective. The validity of the learning tools is as follows: the average RPP validation is 3.68 or 91.91% in the valid category; LKPD of 3.39 or 84.75% in the valid category; and the KPM test of 3.12 or 78% in the valid category. Therefore, based on the results of the assessment of the validator, problem-based learning tools can be used for learning activities. Practicality of learning tools: the ability of teachers to manage learning is 3.48 or the percentage of implementation is 87% with the category of good implementation; student activity in learning activities is 97.5%. Therefore, it could be claimed as effective. The effectiveness of learning tools: the percentage of changes in KPM of positive students is 75%; the increase in KPM gets an N-Gain score of 0.59 in the medium category, the completeness of percentage in classical learning is 90% thus, it could be claimed as complete, while the student response in positive learning is in an average score of 97 %. Based on the results of the research on the learning device scale on the problem-based map based on good criteria which is valid, practical and effective so that it can be used for learning activities., Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan proses pengembangan perangkat pembelajaran berbasis masalah materi skala pada denah, menganalisis hasil pengembangan perangkat, mendeskripsikan pemecahan masalah siswa dengan pembelajaran berbasis masalah materi skala pada denah. Penelitian ini menggunakan jenis penelitian dan pengembangan atau research and development (R&D) yakni 4D-Model (Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate). Perangkat pembelajaran yang dikembangkan meliputi RPP, LKPD, dan tes kemampuan pemecahan masalah pada materi skala pada denah. In this study, two packaging materials, modified polypropylene (MPP) and polyethylene terephthalate/aluminum/ low-density polyethylene (PETFA-Al-LDPE) were studied under various atmospheric conditions: 100% CO2, 70% N2 - 30% CO2, 80% N2 - 20% CO2 for packing probiotic ultrafiltered (UF) white brined cheese. pH, titratable acidity, moisture content, Lacticaseibacillus paracasei viability and overall acceptability were monitored within a 12-week period. The control samples were packaged in atmospheric air. Results revealed that samples packaged in PETFA-Al-LDPE with the combination of 70% N2 - 30% CO2 had the lowest pH, highest acidity and moisture content. The viability of Lacticaseibacillus paracasei was reported to be 4*106 CFU/g within 12 weeks. The highest and lowest overall acceptability was for the cheese packaged in 70% N2 - 30% CO2 and the control sample, respectively., U ovom istraživanju je ispitivana mogućnost primjene dvaju ambalažnih materijala - modificiranog polipropilena (MPP) i polietilen tereftalata/aluminij/polietilen niske gustoće (PETFA-Al-LDPE) u različitim uvjetima modificirane atmosfere (100 % CO2, 70 % N2 – 30 % CO2, 80 % N2 - 20 % CO2) za pakiranje probiotičkog sira iz salamure proizvedenog iz ultrafiltriranog (UF) mlijeka. Tijekom 12 tjedana čuvanja uzorcima sira su određivani pH, titracijska kiselost, sadržaj vlage, preživljavanje soja Lacticaseibacillus paracasei i prihvatljivost. Kontrolni uzorci su pakirani u normalnoj atmosferi (zrak). Dobiveni rezutati ukazuju kako uzorci pakirani u PETFA-Al-LDPE i modificiranoj atmosferi 70 % N2 - 30 % CO2 imaju najniži pH, te najveću kiselost i sadržaj vlage. Preživljavanje soja Lacticaseibacillus paracasei je bilo oko 4x106 CFU/g tijekom 12 tjedana. Najnižu i najvišu prihvatljivost su imali uzorak pakiran u atmosferi 70% N2 - 30 % CO2 te kontrolni uzorak.

The goal of this work is to present challenges and opportunities for the development of 4th generation district heating in future decarbonized scenarios for the Italian city of Milano. The work has been developed in the framework of a Climate-KIC project to support Milano municipality in developing decarbonization measures. The first part of the work consists in the evaluation of a geographical distribution of the civil sector heat demand according to a bottom-up approach based on open data. Thanks to this statistical tool, also buildings retrofit can be analysed. Three retrofit scenarios are simulated according to policy goals for 2030 and 2050, foreseeing a retrofit priority of worst energy performances buildings, resulting in 8.8TWh, for the first two scenarios, and 9.4TWh for the last one. The areas characterized by the majority of retrofit can be identified as the most suitable for low temperature district heating development. Renewables and low temperature waste heat sources are also assessed, resulting in 9.8TWh of available heat. The application of district heating in combination with the identified renewables is assessed in these scenarios with a clustering approach. The evaluation of potential diffusion of 4GDH is based on the comparison between the overall cost of district heating and the competing individual systems costs: district heating is considered feasible only in retrofitted buildings where district heating cost is lower than individual systems cost (about 0.7TWh in each scenarios). The retrofitting scenarios combined with the diffusion of renewable based 4GDH are assessed also in terms of environmental impact. The current greenhouse gas emissions related to the actual heating systems, evaluated through the Thermal Systems Regional Cadastre database, is compared to the district heating development scenarios and to individual heat pump system scenarios. The results show the highest reduction of emission in the district heating scenarios (65%).

Broccoli raab, is a typical Italian vegetable, extensively cultivated in Southern Italy. The edible portion is represented by the central inflorescence and has a very appreciated light-bitter taste. A greater increase in consumption could come from a ready-to-use product, however they are very perishable, and technologies aimed to prolong product shelf-life are necessary. In this work active and passive modified atmosphere packaging (MAP) were investigated in order to achieve and maintain the optimal atmosphere composition during cold storage: 1) polypropylene/polyamide microperforated bags (PPPA MF) (22×32 cm), with initial gas composition of 2% O2/ 98% N2; 2) polypropylene bags (PP) (22×32 cm), with initial gas composition of 4% O2/96% N2; 3) passive MA in shrink-wrap packaging (pMAP); 4) air (CTRL) within macro perforated bags. Fresh cut broccoli raab consisting of compact florets with stems ~10-cm long, including tender leaves, were stored as described up to 12 days at 5±1°C. PPPA MF and PP accumulated after 12 days of storage approximately 10% of CO2, reaching instead different O2 percentage: 1 and 10% for PP and PPPA MF, respectively. The final atmosphere composition led to a difference in the sensorial evaluations, with PP showing the higher off odor score and PPPA MF intermediate value if compared to control sample. PPPA MF stored broccoli raab obtained the best visual quality score and no significant differences were found between treatments regarding chemical and physical parameters (DHA, vitamin C, TPC, AC and firmness). The three tested materials allowed to reduce weight losses compared to air storage. PPPA MF showed the best performance in maintaining quality losses during storage of fresh cut broccoli raab, but a shelf life shorter than 12 days should be considered in order to minimize off odor development.

Big Data is a collection of data with a large and complex size, consisting of various data types and obtained from various sources, overgrowing quickly. Some of the problems that will arise when processing big data, among others, are related to the storage and access of big data, which consists of various types of data with high complexity that are not able to be handled by the relational model. One technology that can solve the problem of storing and accessing big data is Hadoop. Hadoop is a technology that can store and process big data by distributing big data into several data partitions (data blocks). Problems arise when an analysis process requires all data spread out into one data entity, for example, in the data clustering process. One alternative solution is to do a parallel and scattered analysis, then perform a centralized analysis of the results of the scattered analysis. This study examines and analyzes two methods, namely K-Medoids Mapreduce and K-Modes without Mapreduce. The dataset used is a dataset about cars consisting of 3.5 million rows of data with 400MB distributed in a Hadoop Cluster (consisting of more than one engine). Hadoop has a MapReduce feature, consisting of 2 functions, namely map and reduce. The map function performs a selection to retrieve a key, value pairs, and returns a value in the form of a collection of key value pairs, and then the reduce function combines all key value pairs from several map functions. The results of the cluster quality evaluation are tested using the Silhouette Coefficient testing metric. The K-Medoids MapReduce algorithm for the car dataset gives a silhouette value of 0.99 with a total of 2 clusters.

Latar Belakang : Preeklampsia tetap menempati peringkat pertama sebagai penyebab tingginya Angka Kematian Ibu (AKI) di Surabaya dari tahun 2013-2017 sebesar 28.92 %. Tingginya angka preeklampsia bisa dicegah dengan dilakukannya skrining preeklampsia yang mudah dilakukan pada trimester I dan II yaitu dengan dilakukannya skrining Mean Arterial Presure (MAP) , Roll Over Test (ROT) , Indeks Masa Tubuh (IMT) di fasilitas kesehatan dasar. Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk mengetahui hubungan antara Skrining Preeklampsia (MAP, ROT, IMT) yang dilakukan pada ibu hamil trimester I dan trimester II serta kejadian preeklampsia. Metode : Penelitian ini adalah penelitian Retrospektif, Case Control dengan sampel pada kelompok kasus yaitu pasien preeklampsia pada saat trimester I dan II yang dilakukan skrining preeklampsia sedangkan untuk kelompok kontrol, ibu hamil normal yang juga dilakukan skrining preeklampsia pada trimester I dan II. Hasil : Didapatkan besar sampel 189 ibu hamil dengan preeklampsia selama 1 tahun, pengambilan sampel dengan teknik consecutive sampling . Hasil pemeriksaan diperoleh pada kelompok kasus didapatkan pasien dengan MAP (+), ROT (+), IMT (+) berturut-turut adalah 43 (95.6 %), 18 (40 %) dan 18 (40 %), sedangkan pada kelompok kontrol diperoleh hasil 18 (40 %) sampel MAP (+), 26 (57.8 %) ROT (+), 5 (11.1 %) IMT (+). Hasil uji statistik Chi Square menunjukan adanya hubungan signifikan antara skrining MAP dan IMT dengan kejadian preeklampsia dengan nilai p berturut-turut (p 0.0001, OR = 32.250 dan p 0.002, OR = 5.333 ), namun tidak didapatkan hubungan antara skrining ROT dengan kejadian preeklampsia (p 0.092 OR = 0.487). Didapatkan hubungan ketiga skrining (MAP, ROT, IMT) dengan kejadian preeklampsia (p 0.001, OR 4.529). Kesimpulan : Pasien MAP (+) dan IMT (+) mempunyai resiko sebesar 32 kali dan 5 kali pada preeklampsia. Skrining ROT (+) tidak mempunyai hubungan dengan kejadian preeklampsia. Abstract Background : Preeclampsia still ranks first as the cause of the high Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) in Surabaya from 2013-2017 at 28.92%. The high rate of preeclampsia can be prevented by conducting pre-eclampsia screening that is easy to do in the first and second trimesters by doing Mean Arterial Presure (MAP) screening, Roll Over Test (ROT), Body Mass Index (BMI) in basic health facilities. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between Preeclampsia Screening (MAP, ROT, BMI) performed in first trimester and second trimester pregnant women and the incidence of preeclampsia. Methods : This study was a retrospective study, case control with samples in the case group, namely preeclampsia patients during the first and second trimesters of preeclampsia screening, while for the control group, normal pregnant women who were also screened for preeclampsia in the first and second trimester. Results There was a sample of 189 pregnant women with preeclampsia for 1 year, taking samples by consecutive sampling technique. The results of the examination were obtained in the case group obtained patients with MAP (+), ROT (+), BMI (+) respectively 43 (95.6%), 18 (40%) and 18 (40%), while in the control group obtained results of 18 (40%) samples of MAP (+), 26 (57.8%) ROT (+), 5 (11.1%) BMI (+). The Chi Square statistical test results showed a significant relationship between MAP and BMI screening with the incidence of preeclampsia with p values in a row (p 0.0001, OR = 32,250 and p 0.002, OR = 5,333), but no association between ROT screening and the incidence of preeclampsia ( p 0.092 OR = 0.487). Obtained the third screening relationship (MAP, ROT, BMI) with the incidence of preeclampsia (p 0.001, OR 4,529). Conclusion : MAP (+) and BMI (+) patients have 32 times and 5 times higher risk of preeclampsia. Screening for ROT (+) has no relationship with the incidence of preeclampsia.

Single-cell approaches are quickly changing our view on biological systems by increasing the spatiotemporal resolution of our analyses to the level of the individual cell. The field of plant biology has fully embraced single-cell transcriptomics and is rapidly expanding the portfolio of available technologies and applications. In this review, we give an overview of the main advances in plant single-cell transcriptomics over the past few years and provide the reader with an accessible guideline covering all steps, from sample preparation to data analysis. We end by offering a glimpse of how these technologies will shape and accelerate plant-specific research in the near future.

Background In Benin, access to water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) remains an issue. This study aims to provide an overview of household access to basic WASH services based on nationally representative data. Method Secondary analyses were run using the ‘HOUSEHOLD’ dataset of the fifth Demographic and Health Survey 2017–2018. The dependent variables were household access to individual and combined basic WASH services. The characteristics of the household head and those related to the composition, wealth and environment of the household were independent variables. After a descriptive analysis of all study variables, multivariate logistic regression was performed to identify predictors of outcome variables. Results The study included 14,156 households. Of these, 63.98% (95% CI = 61.63–66.26), 13.28% (95% CI = 12.10–14.57) and 10.11% (95% CI = 9.19–11.11) had access to individual basic water, sanitation and hygiene facilities, respectively. Also, 3% (95% CI = 2.53–3.56) of households had access to combined basic WASH services. Overall, the richest households and few, and those headed by people aged 30 and over, female and with higher levels of education, were the most likely to have access to individual and combined basic WASH services. In addition, disparities based on the department of residence were observed. Conclusion The authors suggest a multifactorial approach that addresses the identified determinants.

Low temperature storage is the most effective technology for keeping quality and extending the postharvest life of fresh horticultural produce. However, horticultural produce of tropical and subtropical in origin such as marula fruit are susceptible to chilling injury (CI) when stored at temperatures below their critical minimum temperatures. Therefore, low temperature storage alone is not ideal for produce of tropical and subtropical in origin. The aim of this research was to elucidate the influence of modified atmosphere packaging (MAP) on CI of marula fruits. Storage temperature below 12ºC significantly (P < 0.05) increased CI incidence and severity, and proline content of marula fruit. Marula fruit in MAP had significantly (P < 0.05) lower electrolyte leakage than fruit stored in Air. The results further showed that marula fruit stored at 12?C in MAP had significantly longer shelf-life of 21 days than fruits in Air stored at various temperatures which had a shorter shelf life. It was concluded that marula fruits be stored in MAP at 12°C plus 90-95% RH to alleviate CI incidence and severity and maintain fruit quality and extend shelf-life. Fresh-cut lettuce is a very well-known salad for today's routines because it obliges minimal preparation to minimize the loss of health beneficial vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and other phytochemicals. It is a prodigious challenge to serve its consumers fresh. Quality of freshly processed lettuce under high CO2 modified atmosphere packaging (MAP) has been investigated as a realistic alternative technique for its preservation. Storage under high CO2 atmospheric treatments exhibited a significant impact in microbial development, electrolyte leakage, volatile metabolites and sensory quality of fresh-cut iceberg lettuce. This storage condition (MAP 1: 5 kPa O2 and 20 kPa CO2 balanced by N2 at 7 °C for 6 days) inhibited the growth of mesophilic bacteria and yeasts; delayed the enzymatic browning (cut-edges and intact surface) of fresh-cut iceberg lettuce and overall visual quality was also in acceptance limit. The development of off-odors was perceived in high CO2 MAP as a consequence of volatiles (ethanol and acetaldehyde) accumulation which was persisted at an inexcusable level during 6 days of storage periods.

Environmental samples are often used to classify the paratuberculosis status of cattle herds. The disease is caused by Mycobacterium avium subsp. paratuberculosis (MAP), predominantly through oral ingestion during infancy. In this explorative study, the presence of MAP was determined in the barn environment of a paratuberculosis-infected vaccinated dairy goat herd. A total of 256 bedding, dust, feed, and water samples were collected at eight time points and examined using culture and qPCR. Detection rates of both methods were compared, and factors determining MAP confirmation were identified. MAP was cultured from 28 bedding and one dust sample, while MAP DNA was detected in all materials (117/256). Samples from high animal traffic areas and those collected during the indoor season were more likely to yield positive culture and qPCR results. Cultivation of MAP from kidding pens indicated this area as a possible infection site. Dust proved to be the most suitable material for detecting MAP DNA, as bedding was for MAP culture. Environmental sampling was demonstrated to be an effective way to detect MAP in a dairy goat herd. qPCR results could confirm herd infection, while culture results provided insight into crucial areas for MAP transmission. These findings should be considered when designing farm-specific paratuberculosis control plans.

Burrata is a fresh pasta filata cheese manufactured in Italy. Its demand on the worldwide market is constantly growing, and prolonging its shelf-life is an important challenge for the Italian dairy industry. In the present study, combining a commercial bio-protective starter and modified atmosphere packaging (MAP) was evaluated as a strategy to delay the spoilage of product quality. Three experimental samples of burrata were produced by experimental trials at the industrial level and stored for 28 days under refrigerated conditions. Two samples contained the protective starter but were packaged differently (under MAP and immersed in water), and one did not contain the starter and was packaged under MAP. A sample of burrata without a starter and immersed in water was also prepared and used as a control. The combination of MAP and bio-protective starter delayed the degradation of lactose and citric acid, used as indices of microbial activity. In fact, lower counts of Enterobacteriaceae and Pseudomonas were observed in this sample. In contrast, control burrata had the highest level of total Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) at the end of the storage period, because of higher microbial activity. Even though all samples were judged to be unacceptable after 28 days from the sensory point of view, the sample with bio-protective starter under MAP had the best score after 21 days, obtaining a shelf-life extension of about 7 days with respect to control. In conclusion, the combination of MAP and protective starter culture could be an easy way to extend the shelf-life of burrata stored under correct refrigerated conditions.

Fresh chicken meat is a very perishable good, even at refrigerated storage conditions, due to psychrophilic microbial growth and physicochemical changes. The present study focuses on the use of rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis L.) essential oil (REO), supercritical CO2 processing and their synergism to increase the microbial inactivation in chicken breast meat. E. coli and L. innocua were inoculated on the chicken breast surface, and the inactivation effects of two different processes, namely SC-CO2 and SC-MAPCO2, were compared with or without the addition of REO. Moreover, the impact of the treatments on the superficial color of the meat was considered. The study demonstrated a synergic effect with 1% REO and supercritical CO2 for the inactivation of E. coli on chicken meat, while for L. innocua, there was no synergism. Regarding SC-CO2 treatment, the E. coli reduction was 1.29 and 3.31 log CFU/g, while for L. innocua, it was 1.42 and 1.11 log CFU/g, respectively, without and with the addition of 1.0% of REO. The same amount of REO allowed us to obtain a reduction of 1.3 log CFU/g of E. coli when coupled with SC-MAPCO2. For L. innocua, no reduction was obtained, either with SC-MAPCO2 or together with REO. The synergism of SC-MAPCO2 with 1% REO was confirmed for the total psychrophilic bacteria, demonstrating a strong dependence on the microorganism. The color modification induced by the SC-MAPCO2 process was lower than the SC-CO2 treatment. Overall, this study demonstrated a possible synergism of the technologies which can support the development of innovative methods to improve the safety and shelf-life of chicken breast meat.

Background: Bacteria are capable of responding to various stressors, something which has been essential for their adaptation, evolution, and colonization of a wide range of environments. Of the many stressors affecting bacteria, we can highlight heavy metals, and amongst these, copper stands out for its great antibacterial capacity. Using Mycobacteriumtuberculosis (Mtb) as a model, the action of proteins involved in copper homeostasis has been put forward as an explanation for the tolerance or adaptive response of this mycobacteria to the toxic action of copper. Therefore, the aim of this study was to confirm the presence and evaluate the expression of genes involved in copper homeostasis at the transcriptional level after challenging Mycobacterium avium subsp. paratuberculoisis (MAP) with copper ions. Methodology: Buffer inoculated with MAP was treated with two stressors, the presence of copper homeostasis genes was confirmed by bioinformatics and genomic analysis, and the response of these genes to the stressors was evaluated by gene expression analysis, using qPCR and the comparative ΔΔCt method. Results: Through bioinformatics and genomic analysis, we found that copper homeostasis genes were present in the MAP genome and were overexpressed when treated with copper ions, which was not the case with H2O2 treatment. Conclusion: These results suggest that genes in MAP that code for proteins involved in copper homeostasis trigger an adaptive response to copper ions.

The aim of the present work was to evaluate the effect of various hurdles such as aw and pH as well as the storage atmosphere on the microbiological and sensory changes of minimally processed (lightly brined or marinated with acetic or citric acid) European sea bass (Dicentrarchus labrax) fillets. The results indicated that the shelf-life of brined fillets stored aerobically was 6 d while that of vacuum and MAP-stored was 12 d, since a reduced growth rate of spoilage bacteria was recorded. The physicochemical characteristics such as aw and water phase salt (WPS) were not considerably changed, while the oxygen levels into the packages ensure the microbiological safety of the product. The fillets marinated with acetic acid exhibited a longer shelf-life at 30 and 40 d under aerobic and reduced oxygen conditions, respectively, while the products marinated with citric acid were at 25 and 35 d respectively. A low pH resulted in reduced or even limited microbial levels, especially for the fillets marinated with acetic acid; something that ensures microbiological safety as well. The low or limited microbial levels in conjugation with the sensory attributes indicated that spoilage may be due to other mechanisms such as autolysis rather than microbial activity. Overall, the present work highlights the potential for further research and development of minimally processed, microbiologically safe and stable with extended shelf-life value added seafood to satisfy the corresponding consumer demands.

OBJECTIVE: Focal cortical dysplasias (FCDs) are a common cause of drug-resistant focal epilepsy but frequently remain undetected by conventional magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) assessment. The visual detection can be facilitated by morphometric analysis of T1-weighted images, for example, using the Morphometric Analysis Program (v2018; MAP18), which was introduced in 2005, independently validated for its clinical benefits, and successfully integrated in standard presurgical workflows of numerous epilepsy centers worldwide. Here we aimed to develop an artificial neural network (ANN) classifier for robust automated detection of FCDs based on these morphometric maps and probe its generalization performance in a large, independent data set. METHODS: In this retrospective study, we created a feed-forward ANN for FCD detection based on the morphometric output maps of MAP18. The ANN was trained and cross-validated on 113 patients (62 female, mean age ± SD =29.5 ± 13.6 years) with manually segmented FCDs and 362 healthy controls (161 female, mean age ± SD =30.2 ± 9.6 years) acquired on 13 different scanners. In addition, we validated the performance of the trained ANN on an independent, unseen data set of 60 FCD patients (28 female, mean age ± SD =30 ± 15.26 years) and 70 healthy controls (42 females, mean age ± SD = 40.0 ± 12.54 years). RESULTS: In the cross-validation, the ANN achieved a sensitivity of 87.4% at a specificity of 85.4% on the training data set. On the independent validation data set, our method still reached a sensitivity of 81.0% at a comparably high specificity of 84.3%. SIGNIFICANCE: Our method shows a robust automated detection of FCDs and performance generalizability, largely independent of scanning site or MR-sequence parameters. The author presents the proposal for a map as a model based on the current concepts in the philosophy of science. It is the attempt to define a map within the general theory of the model – in its ontological, semantical, and epistemological aspect. Treating a map as a model of reality boils down to specifying several characteristics determining its character. The article primarily aims at broadening the discussion on what a map is and what defines it as a model of reality. A new definition has been proposed in effect of the deliberations based on the analysis of models’ typology in the sphere of philosophy.

The term ‘packaging’ refers to the technological intervention aimed at the protection of food from a variety of factors, which provokes the product detriment. Packaging is considered as one of the most interesting technological aspects and a constantly evolving issue in food production. This paper aims at the evaluation of the properties of packaging currently used in the meat industry and analyses the advantages, the disadvantages and the microbiota involved. Packaging is a coordinated system, which prepares the products for transportation, distribution, storage, marketing and consumption. Even if several packaging alternatives are proposed, the common purpose is to guarantee high standards, yet maintaining the required characteristics as long as possible. Meat is a dynamic system with a limited shelf-life and the nutritional and sensory properties may change during storage due to microbial activity and physical or chemical changes. Microbial spoilage, for instance, determines an impact in meat, producing unattractive odours, flavours, discolouration, gas and slime.

Much cell-to-cell communication is facilitated by cell surface receptor tyrosine kinases (RTKs). These proteins phosphorylate their downstream cytoplasmic substrates in response to stimuli such as growth factors. Despite their central roles, the functions of many RTKs are still poorly understood. To resolve the lack of systematic knowledge, we apply three complementary methods to map the molecular context and substrate profiles of RTKs. We use affinity purification coupled to mass spectrometry (AP-MS) to characterize stable binding partners and RTK–protein complexes, proximity-dependent biotin identification (BioID) to identify transient and proximal interactions, and an in vitro kinase assay to identify RTK substrates. To identify how kinase interactions depend on kinase activity, we also use kinase-deficient mutants. Our data represent a comprehensive, systemic mapping of RTK interactions and substrates. This resource adds information regarding well-studied RTKs, offers insights into the functions of less well-studied RTKs, and highlights RTK-RTK interactions and shared signaling pathways.

Big data analytics gain significant interest over the traditional data-processing methodologies that engage in extracting the hidden patterns and correlations from the massive data, termed as big data. With the aim of relieving the computational complexity the clustering method plays a significant role. With the knowledge of the clustering algorithms, the big data arriving from the distributed sources is processed using the MapReduce framework (MRF). The MRF possesses two functions, namely, map function and reduce function, such that the map function is based on the proposed Fractional Sparse Fuzzy C-Means (FrSparse FCM) algorithm and reduce function is based on particle swarm optimisation-based whale optimisation algorithm (P-Whale). Initially, the optimal centroids are computed using the proposed algorithm in the mapper phase that is optimally tuned in the reducer phase, and it is clear that the proposed FrSparse FCM-based MRF ensures the parallel processing of the big data. Experimentation is performed using the Skin data set and the localisation data set taken from the UCI machine learning repository, and the analysis is progressed using the metrics, such as accuracy and DB Index. The analysis proves that the proposed method acquired a maximum accuracy of 90.6012% and a minimum DB Index of 5.33.

The authors perform a comparative analysis of the efficiency of two types of low-power wind energy conversion systems with horizontal and vertical axis in the meteorological conditions of Latvia. The analysis is based on long-term wind speed measurements over the period of two years conducted by a network of 22 observation stations at the height of 10 m above the ground. The study shows that in the conditions of Latvia wind turbines with a horizontal axis are expected to work with greater efficiency than similar installations with a vertical axis. The paper presents the models of the spatial distribution of average wind speed, Weibull wind speed frequency distribution parameters and the values of the expected operational efficiency for small wind turbine generators. The modelling results are presented in the form of colour contour maps. Overall, the results of the study can serve as a tool for forecasting annual energy production and for estimating the feasibility of commercial use of wind energy at the height of 10 m in the territory of Latvia.

PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to develop the relationship among the three-dimensional-shaped (3D) knitwear on the flat knitting machine in a three-dimensional (3D) design model and the corresponding knitting in a two-dimensional (2D) pattern.Design/methodology/approachTo do this, map functions are defined to convert the expression of the 3D-shaped knitwear to the horizontal and the vertical knitting. When the inverse functions of the map functions exist, one type is knitting in the 2D pattern can be determined with the aid of the knitwear expression in the 3D design model, when another type of knitting is in the 2D pattern.FindingsThe simulations indicate that the proposed scheme can implement the conversion from the 3D-shaped knitwear in the 3D design model to the corresponding knitting in the 2D pattern. In addition, the generated knitting by the proposed method can meet the technological requirements, which means that the knitting in the 2D pattern, converted by the proposed scheme, can be implemented in reality and the differences between the real knitwear can also be obtained as same as the map functions.Practical implicationsThe generated 2D pattern can facilitate accelerating the design development of the 3D-shaped knitwear. Meanwhile, after accomplishing the 3D design, the relationship between 2D patterns in the two knitting directions is established through map functions.Originality/valueMap functions proposed in this paper can be used in the 3D design model of the 3D-shaped knitwear so as to obtain the relatively accurate 2D paper appropriate for machine-knitting direction, which omits the process of designer's single 2D pattern after accomplishing the 3D design and saves the developing time.

The heterogeneous stock (HS) is an outbred rat population derived from eight inbred rat strains. HS rats are ideally suited for genome wide association studies; however, only a few genotyping microarrays have ever been designed for rats and none of them are currently in production. To address the need for an efficient and cost effective method of genotyping HS rats, we have adapted genotype-by-sequencing (GBS) to obtain genotype information at large numbers of single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs). In this paper, we have outlined the laboratory and computational steps we took to optimize double digest genotype-by-sequencing (ddGBS) for use in rats. We also evaluate multiple existing computational tools and explain the workflow we have used to call and impute over 3.7 million SNPs. We also compared various rat genetic maps, which are necessary for imputation, including a recently developed map specific to the HS. Using our approach, we obtained concordance rates of 99% with data obtained using data from a genotyping array. The principles and computational pipeline that we describe could easily be adapted for use in other species for which reliable reference genome sets are available.

The synthesis of quinoxaline derivatives were heterogeneously catalyzed by phosphate-based catalyst fertilizers, MAP, DAP, or TSP. The reaction affords the desired products in excellent yields at ambient temperature. A series of studies were conducted to investigate the effect of solvent reaction, its volume, and catalyst amount. A study of the recyclability of catalysts removed from the reaction mixture by simple filtration was also carried out to find that the three phosphate-based catalysts retain their catalytic activities up to six cycles.

This paper introduces the use of co-nomination as a method to map research fields by directly accessing their knowledge networks organised around exchange relationships of intellectual influence. Co-nomination is a reputation-based approach combining snowball sampling and social network analysis. It compliments established bibliometric mapping methods by addressing some of their typical shortcomings in specific instances. Here we test co-nomination by mapping one such instance: the idiosyncratic field of CERN-based heavy flavour physics (HFP). HFP is a 'hyper-authorship' field where papers conventionally list thousands of authors alphabetically, masking individual intellectual contributions. We also undertook an illustrative author co-citation analysis (ACA) mapping of 2310 HFP articles published 2013-18 and identified using a simple keyword query. Both maps were presented to two HFP scientists for commentary upon structure and validity. Our results suggest co-nomination allows us to access individual-level intellectual influence and discern the experimental and theoretical HFP branches. Co-nomination is powerful in uncovering current and emerging research specialisms in HFP that might remain opaque to other methods. ACA, however, better captures HFP's historical and intellectual foundations. We conclude by discussing possible future uses of co-nomination in science policy and research evaluation arrangements.

Assessment of site suitability for water harvesting in Sentul City is an important, because the Sentul City area often problems with water supply and is expected to prediction a water deficit in 2050, other problems are floods often occur in the downstream during the rainy season. This study aims to analyze the suitability of the location for small dam and reservoirs determine the number of small dam and reservoirs that can be built in Sentul City based on location suitability maps. Identifying locations for the construction of small dam and reservoirs can use of Geographic Information System (GIS), the approach used multi criteria analysis and weighted overlay techniques with software ArcGIS. Six criteria were considered for this study, which include topographic factors (slope), land use, soil texture, rainfall, and distance to the river and distance to the road. The multi criteria analysis approach, each criterion was assigned a weight with slope being considered as the most important factor. Weighted overlay analysis was performed in ArcGIS and determination of suitable small dam and reservoir site was done from the summation of weight of each contributing factor. A final suitability map was generated which indicated that 34% of the total study area showed that the area was not suitable, 31% highly suitable, 27% was suitable, 6% was moderately suitable and 2% was low suitable for dam construction. Based on suitable map, 5 (five) samall dam and 9 (nine) reservoir can be used to water harvesting that can be used as raw water sources in Sentul City.

Fresh (acid coagulated) cheeses belong to a group of soft unripen cheeses which are very popular among consumers. However, owing to the specific composition and properties, these cheeses have a limited shelf life. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of modified atmosphere packaging (MAP) onto fresh cheese and to compare it with the commonly used packaging under atmospheric air and vacuum. The produced fresh cheese was packed under normal atmosphere (air), vacuum and modified atmosphere of following composition: (1) 60%N(2):40%CO(2); (2) 70%N(2):30%CO(2). All cheese samples were cool stored for 18 days, whereby the sampling and analyses were conducted every 3 days. During the storage period, there was a continuous decrease in acidity (from 4.66 to 4.47), while the viable counts of the monitored microorganisms increased in the control sample. However, in samples packaged under vacuum and modified atmosphere a slighter decrease in acidity (no result under 4.50) and inhibited microbiological growth were detected. Scores of sensory evaluations were high for all samples (17.63–19.73), whereby the sample packed under MAP with ratio 70%CO(2):30%N(2) obtained the best average score of 17.72 at the end of the 18-day storage period. Other analyses confirmed that vacuum and MAP prolong the shelf life of fresh cheese while preserving its physico-chemical and sensory characteristics. Postharvest losses of fresh produce constitute the biggest portion of the total food losses occurring in food chains globally. The main driver behind the postharvest losses of fresh fruits and vegetables is temperature abuse occurring mainly during transportation and storage. This is a particular problem for small-acreage producers, who frequently have limited access to postharvest handling resources like optimum refrigeration conditions. Passive modified atmosphere packaging (MAP) is a relatively inexpensive intervention that does not require specialized equipment and has demonstrated some potential for maintaining the quality and extending the shelf life of fresh produce stored in nonoptimum temperatures. Our objective was to determine the effect of passive MAP on the quality and storage life of spinach (Spinacia oleracea cv. Corvair) when stored in nonoptimum temperatures. Mature spinach leaves (≈320 g) were packaged in passive MAP bags, developed using the BreatheWay technology, and non-MAP produce bags and subsequently stored at 13 or 21 °C. Spinach physical and nutritional quality was evaluated throughout its storage life in terms of overall quality, water loss, leaf tenderness, surface color, chlorophyll content, electrolyte leakage, chlorophyll fluorescence, antioxidant capacity, total phenolic content, and vitamin C content. Spinach that was stored in MAP bags reached headspace equilibrium at ≈6% Ο2 and 11% CΟ2 at 13 °C and ≈4% Ο2 and 8% CΟ2 at 21 °C after 2 days of storage for both temperatures. The spinach stored in passive MAP at 13 or 21 °C demonstrated significantly higher overall quality during storage and 2 and 1 day longer storage life, respectively, when compared with the control. The spinach in passive MAP demonstrated a slower rate of yellowing and water loss during storage. The limiting factor for the spinach stored in MAP was decay due to condensation at 13 °C and yellowing at 21 °C. There were no statistical differences in the examined nutritional quality parameters between the spinach stored in MAP and produce bags. This study shows that passive MAP can be a valuable tool for reducing the food losses occurring in small-acreage fruit and vegetable operations that have limited access to cooling and refrigerated storage.

Proteins’ tertiary structure, which is determined by its amino acid sequence via the protein folding process, have essential role in the function of protein. Protein fold recognition is one of the interesting studies in bioinformatics. In this paper, to address this issue, we propose a Feature Selection (FS) method based on Map_Reduce framework and Vortex Search Algorithm (VSA). FS is one of the most important steps of pre-processing data, which aims to select a variable subset of relevant features. In unparalleled mode and typical data, over hundreds of feature selection and dimension reduction algorithms have been provided such as Principle Component Analysis, Linear Discriminant Analysis, and so on. Nevertheless, these algorithms are not implemented for real-world applications when data instances increasing in three-dimensional: volume, velocity and variety that called Big Data, actually if we want to use previous feature selection methods on Big Data, volume of large and complex computing will be required. VSA was inspired from the vortex pattern created by the vortical flow of the stirred fluids. In Map_Reduce framework, Map and Reduce functions executed in parallel mode. In the proposed method, in each step of Map function, a VSA is employed to find an optimized subset of features and decrease feature search space. In the light of the above consideration, we evaluate the proposed method in classification of a benchmark dataset for protein fold recognition. The experimental results indicate that the proposed method improves prediction accuracy considerably.

Maps are a primary method of displaying statistical data that comes from a geographical frame. Maps are esthetically appealing and make it easier to identify geographic patterns in a dataset. However, few introductory statistical texts and courses explicitly present maps as a way to display data. In this article, we will present examples of different types of statistical maps and illustrate how these maps can be used in the instruction of an introductory statistics course.

The article discusses the functions of the map in the journalism and poetry of Michał Książek (Droga 816, Jakuck, Nauka o ptakach, Północny wschód). The author asserts that the map creates multiple tensions between the sign and reality and releases the emotions which accompany the journey, both in space and time. Książek constantly seeks correspondence between the world of the map and reality, which he merges in his travel narratives and observations.

Background and Objectives: Chaotic behavior is one of the fundamental properties of nonlinear dynamical systems, including maps. Chaos can be most easily and reliably diagnosed using the largest Lyapunov exponent, which will be positive for the chaotic mode. Unlike flow dynamical systems, the presence of zero Lyapunov exponent in the spectrum is not an obligatory condition for maps. The zero exponent in the spectrum of a map will indicate the possibility of embedding such a map in a flow. In the framework the present paper, using as an example a three-dimensional discrete Lorenz-84 model, it is shown that there can appear chaotic attractors whose Lyapunov exponent spectrum contains one positive, one zero, and one negative exponents. Such a specific attractor represents the production of a two-dimensional torus and the Hénon attractor and was called the Quasi-periodic Hénon attractor. A scenario of development of such kind behavior is an open problem. Materials and Methods: The discrete Lorenz-84 oscillator obtained by discretizing the three-dimensional flow Lorenz-84 model is considered as an object of the present research. The dynamics of the map is studied numerically. The main analysis is carried out using the charts of dynamical regimes based on the calculation of Lyapunov exponents. Lyapunov exponents were calculated by the Benettin method with Gramm-Schmidt orthogonalization. Results: The scenario of occurrence of the Quasi-periodic Hénon attractor via a cascade of invariant curve doubling bifurcations is described. Conclusion: We study the discrete Lorenz-84 oscillator, which is a three-dimensional map (three-dimensional diffeomorphism). In the map the possibility of implementing a steady state of equilibrium, an invariant curve, a torus-attractor, and chaos with zero Lyapunov exponent in the spectrum was shown. It is also demonstrated that the chaotic mode with zero Lyapunov exponent, the Quasi-periodic Hénon attractor, can appear as a result of a cascade of doubling bifurcations of the invariant curve. Typical structures on the parameter plane, such as CrossRoad-Area, Spring-Area, whose base mode is an invariant curve, are illustrated. These structures and chaotic oscillations can arise on the basis of various invariant curves.

The crystallization of ammonium dihydrogen phosphate (MAP) is largely affected by certain metal ions such as Fe (III), and the influence seems to be pointed at both ends. Therefore, the industrial-grade MAP products can only be obtained by purifying the neutralized MAP solution from wet-process phosphoric acid (WPA). The extraction kinetics of Fe (III) from MAP solution using di-2-ethylhexyl phosphoric acid (D2EHPA) in sulfonated kerosene mea­sured by the Lewis cell. The extraction mechanism is discussed and confirmed on the basis of the dimeric model of D2EHPA in non-polar solution. From the temperature dependence of reaction rate, the value of E a and K f are cal­culated and the extraction regimes are deduced to be mixed controlled with dif­fusion and chemical reaction for Fe (III). Ultimately, the rate equation for the ext­ract­ion reaction of Fe (III) with D2EHPA is obtained as follows: R f = 0.028 c Fe 3+ 1.2 c H 2 A 2 0.81 c H + -0.85.

Persistent Scatterer Interferometry (PSI) is a consolidated tool for detecting and monitoring ground surface displacements. The availability of satellite data with free access policy and high monitoring capabilities (in terms of resolution and acquisition frequency) is increasing. Moreover, the first continental displacement map of Europe will be freely available in quarter one 2022 by the latest Copernicus Service, the European Ground Motion Service (EGMS). The EGMS will provide ground displacement maps, updated every year, delivering valuable information to a wide range of users, such as public or governmental institutions, industry, academia, and citizens. This vast amount of information needs semi-automatic tools and methodologies to derive user-oriented products that can be easily used by land use and urban planning decision-makers, who are often unfamiliar with PSI. This work proposes a semi-automatic procedure to identify damage prone areas in urban environments from wide-area PSI displacement maps. The proposed method identifies the most significant Active Deformation Areas (ADAs) to calculate three products based on the displacement intensity gradient: the Gradient Intensity Map, the Gradient Vectors and Time Series, and the Potential Damage Map. These products allow identifying buildings and urban structures exposed to potential damage, which could be followed by a more detailed building-based vulnerability and risk assessment. The methodology has been applied to an area of the province of Granada (Andalucía, Spain) but it can be applied to any other urban environment where PSI displacement maps are available. To demonstrate the advantages and limitations of the proposed method, results are discussed in five coastal resorts (Cerro Gordo, Punta de la Mona, Marina del Este, Alfa Mar, and Monte de los Almendros), strongly affected by slope movements. The methodology allowed to derive 175 ADAs from about 200,000 measurement points. About 15% of the resulting area has been found to correspond to high or very high gradient intensity class, and 192 out of 633 buildings have been identified to be prone to moderate or high potential damage. A damage prediction test has been realized through Receiver Operating Characteristic (ROC) analysis, based on a damage inventory map derived from field surveys. The results demonstrate the effectiveness of the methodology to localize damaged or potentially damaged buildings, substantially reducing the time of analysis. © 2022
