JAK-STAT3 signaling pathway widely participates in cell proliferation and apoptosis. Suppressor of cytokine signaling 3 (SOCS3) is a negative regulator of JAK-STAT3. SOCS3 downregulation is associated with drug resistance in breast cancer and leukemia. However, its role in bladder cancer drug resistance is still unclear. This study established ADM resistant bladder cancer cell model to investigate the role of SOCS3-JAK/STAT3 signaling pathway ADM resistance.ADM drug resistant cell line T24/ADM was established. SOCS3, p-JAK2, p-JAK3, and Bcl-2 expressions in T24/ADM, T24, and HBEC cells were compared. Cell proliferation and apoptosis were evaluated by flow cytometry. T24/ADM cells were divided into five groups, including control, pSicoR-blank, pSicoR-SOCS3, FLLL32, and pSicoR-SOCS3 + FLLL32 groups. Cell proliferation was determined by EdU staining.SOCS3 was reduced, while p-JAK2, p-STAT3, and Bcl-2 expressions upregulated in T24 cells compared with HBEC cells. T24/ADM cells exhibited lower SOCS3, higher p-JAK2, p-STAT3, and Bcl-2 levels than T24 cells. Cell apoptosis was higher, whereas cell proliferation was weaker in T24 cells compared with T24/ADM cells. SOCS3 overexpression and/or FLLL32 treatment significantly downregulated p-JAK2, p-STAT3, and Bcl-2 expressions, attenuated cell proliferation, and elevated sensitivity to ADM induced cell apoptosis.SOCS3 reduction was associated with bladder cancer sensitivity to ADM. SOCS3 overexpression decreased JAK-STAT3 signaling pathway activity, declined Bcl-2 expression, inhibited cell proliferation, elevated cell apoptosis, and enhanced ADM sensitivity in T24 cells.

Recent researches have proved that circular RNAs (circRNAs) play important roles in many diseases. Thyroid cancer is one of the most common malignant tumors worldwide. Therefore, the aim of this study was to investigate the role of circ-ABCB10 in thyroid cancer.Circ-ABCB10 expression in 40 paired thyroid cancer tissues and adjacent normal tissues was monitored by Real Time-quantitative Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-qPCR). Subsequently, circ-ABCB10 was silenced or overexpressed in thyroid cancer cells. Function assays were conducted to explore the role of circ-ABCB10 in the proliferation and invasion of thyroid cancer in vitro. Furthermore, RT-qPCR and Western blot assay were performed to elucidate the potential underlying mechanism.Circ-ABCB10 expression was significantly higher in thyroid cancer tissues than that in adjacent tissues. The growth ability of thyroid cancer cells was significantly inhibited after circ-ABCB10 silence. However, the growth ability of thyroid cancer cells was remarkably promoted after circ-ABCB10 was overexpressed in vitro. Similarly, the invasion of thyroid cancer cells was significantly inhibited or promoted after circ-ABCB10 silence or overexpression, respectively. Besides, the expression of KLF6 was markedly up-regulated by the silence of circ-ABCB10. However, KLF6 expression was down-regulated by overexpression of circ-ABCB10.Circ-ABCB10 was first identified as a novel oncogene in thyroid cancer. Furthermore, it significantly enhanced the proliferation and invasion of thyroid cancer by targeting KLF6. Our findings suggested that circ-ABCB10 could be used as a potential therapeutic target in thyroid cancer.

Bacterial canker caused by a virulent strain of Pseudomonas syringae pv. actinidiae (Psa biovar 3) has a significant impact on kiwifruit vine health and results in loss of production worldwide. Psa was first recorded in China in 1986 in commercial crops of Actinidia deliciosa in Hunan province. From 2008, outbreaks of Psa in Italy and New Zealand have been devastating for Actinidia chinensis cultivars, which are generally more susceptible to the disease than those of A. deliciosa. Kiwifruit germplasm varies in its susceptibility to Psa, with some showing an apparent tolerance to the disease. Identification of resistant cultivars in breeding programmes is an important strategy for disease control. There is little knowledge of the importance of wild repositories of kiwifruit species and the possibility of endemic Psa. The objective of this work was to find wild Actinidia species distributed in the large area of the Jinggang mountainous region of Jiangxi province and to isolate and identify bacteria associated with the vines. Many species of Actinidia have been sourced from this area for breeding programmes at the Sichuan Provincial Academy of Natural Resource Science in Chengdu. Twenty-nine vine samples were collected, including A. chinensis, Actinidia eriantha, Actinidia callosa var. henryi and an unknown species, from 406-1414 m above sea level. The GPS position of each vine was noted. Only suspected die-back symptoms of Psa were observed on vines in this survey. Vine tissue from the 29 Actinidia samples was transferred to plates of bacterial medium (KBC). One hundred and thirty isolates were recovered from the wild and 25 isolates from the cultivar 'Hongyang' in eight commercial orchards and purified on plates, and DNA was then extracted for PCR analysis. Neither Psa biovar 3 nor P. syringae pv. actinidifoliorum (Pfm) were detected from Actinidia vines collected in the Jinggang mountain region, whereas Psa biovar 3 was detected in 11 isolates from four 'Hongyang' orchards.

目的 比较诱导化疗联合或不联合自体造血干细胞移植（auto-HSCT）治疗初治年轻弥漫大B细胞淋巴瘤（DLBCL）患者的疗效。 方法 回顾性分析90例年龄≤60岁、年龄调整的国际预后指数（aa-IPI）≥2分的初治DLBCL患者的临床资料，根据治疗方案将患者分为R-CHOP组（32例，利妥昔单抗联合CHOP方案化疗）、增强免疫化疗组（25例，利妥昔单抗联合EPOCH、Hyper-CVAD/R-MA或ESHAP方案化疗）和auto-HSCT组（33例，增强免疫化疗序贯auto-HSCT），进行疗效及相关预后因素分析。 结果 ①90例患者中男40例（44.4%）、女50例（55.6%），中位年龄43（18~60）岁，中位随访时间42（3~110）个月。②R-CHOP组、增强免疫化疗组、auto-HSCT组5年无进展生存（PFS）率分别为（33.5±10.7）%、（55.3±10.1）%、（65.8±13.6）%（P=0.012），5年总生存（OS）率分别为（49.7±9.0）%、（61.6±10.2）%、（78.6±7.8）%（P=0.035）。R-CHOP组与增强免疫化疗组比较，5年PFS、OS率差异均无统计学意义（P=0.519，P=0.437）；auto-HSCT组5年PFS率高于增强免疫化疗组（P=0.042）。③auto-HSCT组IPI分层高危患者（26例）、R-CHOP组低危患者（12例）、增强免疫化疗组低危患者（8例）的5年PFS率分别为（62.3±14.3）%、（58.3±18.6）%、（51.4±18.7）%（P=0.686），5年OS率分别为（69.2±13.9）%、（62.5±15.5）%、（58.3±18.6）%（P=0.592）。④高危患者比较，auto-HSCT组（26例）较R-CHOP组（20例）、增强免疫化疗组（17例）有更高的5年PFS率[（62.3±14.3）%、（41.1±13.5）%、（21.9±11.6）%，P=0.002]和5年OS率[（69.2±13.9）%、（51.5%±14.0）%、（35.4±13.6）%，P=0.019]。⑤R-CHOP组生发中心来源（GCB）亚型（16例）患者3年PFS、OS率均高于非生发中心来源（non-GCB）亚型患者（16例）（P=0.030，P=0.041）；增强免疫化疗组GCB亚型患者（12例）3年PFS、OS亦高于non-GCB亚型患者（13例）（P=0.044，P=0.047）；auto-HSCT组GCB亚型（15例）、non-GCB亚型患者（18例）3年PFS、OS率差异均无统计学意义（P=0.199，P=0.093）。⑥多因素结果分析显示，细胞来源（GCB/non-GCB）是影响R-CHOP组[PFS：HR=0.274（95% CI 0.094~0.800），P=0.018；OS：HR=0.408（95% CI 0.164~1.015），P=0.045]和增强免疫化疗组[PFS：HR=0.423（95% CI 0.043~1.152），P=0.048；OS：HR=5.758（95%CI 0.882~6.592），P=0.035]PFS率、OS率的独立预后因素，但不是影响auto-HSCT组PFS率、OS率的独立预后因素。 结论 增强免疫化疗序贯auto-HSCT可改善年轻初治高危DLBCL患者（特别是non-GCB亚型）的预后。

OBJECTIVE: To explore the application accuracy of virtual preoperative plan after the condylectomy via intraoral approach under computer assisted surgical navigation, and to analyze the location and cause of the surgical deviation to provide reference for the surgical procedure improvement in the future. METHODS: In the study, 23 cases with condylar hypertrophy (11 with condylar osteochondroma and 12 with condylar benign hypertrophy) in Department of Oral and Maxilloficial Surgery, Peking University School and Hospital of Atomatology from December 2012 to December 2016 were treated by condylectomy via intraoral approach under computer assisted surgical navigation. The patient’s spiral CT data were imported into ProPlan software before operation, and the affected mandibular ramus was reconstructed three-dimensionally. The condylar osteotomy line was designed according to the lesion range, and the preoperative design model was generated and introduced into the BrainLab navigation system. Under the guidance of computer navigation, the intraoral approach was used to complete the condylar resection according to the preoperative design of the osteotomy line. Cranial spiral CT of the craniofacial region was taken within one week after operation. Three-dimensional reconstruction of the mandibular ramus at the condylectomy side was performed, and the condylar section was divided into six segments (anterolateral, anterior, anteromedial, posteromedial, posterior, and posterolateral) and the corresponding regional measurement points P1 to P6 were defined. Then the preoperative virtual model and the postoperative actual model were matched by Geomagic studio 12.0 to compare the differences and to analyze the accuracy of the operation. RESULTS: All the patients had successfully accomplished the operation and obtained satisfactory results. Postoperative CT showed that the condyle lesion was completely resected, and the condylar osteotomy line was basically consistent with the surgical design. No tumor recurrence or temporomandibular joint ankylosis during the follow-up period. The postoperative accuracy analysis of the condylar resection showed that the confidence intervals measured by the six groups of P1 to P6 were(-2.26 mm, -1.89 mm), (-2.30 mm, -1.45 mm),(-3.37 mm, -2.91 mm),(-2.83 mm, -1.75 mm),(-1.13 mm, 0.99 mm), and(-1.17 mm, 0.17 mm), where P3 group was different from the other 5 groups. There was no significant difference between the P5 and P6 groups and the difference between the other four groups was statistically significant. CONCLUSION: Under the guidance of computer navigation, the intraoral approach can be performed more accurately. The surgical deviation of each part of the osteo-tomy surface is mainly due to excessive resection. The anterior medial area of the anterior medial condyle represents the most excessive resection. The posterior and posterior lateral measurement points represent the posterior condylar area. The average deviation is not large, but the fluctuation of the deviation value is larger than that of the other four groups. The accuracy of computer-assisted subtotal resection has yet to be improved.

The forming process of automobile covers is relatively complicated, various defects often appear. Insufficient resistance to external pressure is one of them. To solve this problem, this paper proposes to increase a pre-stretching process before the stamping process. Through building a series of finite element models for an automobile cover forming process, the influence of different pre-stretching amounts on the thickness and resistance to external pressure are compared. Finally determine the appropriate pre-stretching amount.

The aim of this study was to investigate how dietary supplementation of nanosize zinc oxide affect zinc retention, egg production and eggshell quality, immune response and serum parameters of aged layers. In trial 1, twenty white Leghorn laying hens (68 weeks-old) were assigned to the control, ZnO, organic-Zn (Zn-methionine) and nano-Zn (nanosize ZnO) groups. The Zinc was maintained at a 60 mg/kg level in the treatment groups’ diet, while the control group’s diet contained 40 mg/kg Zn to evaluate the nutrient retention and zinc bioavailability. In trial 2, eighty old white Leghorn laying hens (68 weeks-old) were randomly allotted to four dietary treatments (as trial 1) to evaluate the egg production and eggshell quality, immune response and serum parameters. The gage cutter is the key component in a tunnel boring machine (TBM); this part affects the machine’s cutting efficiency and maintains the tunnel diameter. In this study, a series of rock cutting tests with different parameters (cutting spacing, penetration depth, and installation angle) is conducted using the mechanical rock fragmentation experimental platform of Beijing University of Technology to study the influences of these parameters on the rock-breaking performance of a TBM gage cutter. During the tests, the triaxial cutting forces and rock chips are collected and analyzed. The test results show that the average normal force of the cutter will decrease with the installation angle increasing at the same penetration depth and cutting spacing, but the average rolling force has the opposite change tendency. The side force is influenced by the installation angle significantly. The side force of the gage cutter plays a more important role in the rock fragmentation than does the side force of the normal cutter. Moreover, the cutting efficiency of the normal cutter is higher than that of the gage cutter. An inclined disc cutter is more conducive to producing rock chips under a large cutting spacing than is a vertical disc cutter, and the optimal cutting spacing under different installation angles is different. This study can provide a reference for TBM gage cutter design and TBM operation parameter optimization.

s This study is to investigate the clinical effect of uterine artery embolism in the treatment of refractory postpartum hemorrhage. Retrospective analysis of 50 patients with refractory postpartum hemorrhage admitted to PLA Group 83 Military Hospital from July 2014 to July 2018, using uterine artery embolization (observation group) and hysterectomy (control group), compared the effective rate of hemostasis, total bleeding volume, operation time and postoperative complications (fever, pain, infection) between the two groups. The effective rate of hemostasis was 96% in the observation group and 92% in the control group. There was no significant difference between the two groups (P > 0.05). The total blood loss was 2237.34 ±548.33 ml and 39.02 ±12.14 min in the observation group and 3427.55 ±667.42 ml in the control group, and 74.21 ±16.16 min in the control group. ‘EnSpray 99’ mineral oil has good efficacy against first instar Pseudaulacaspis pentagona and its residues prevented crawler settlement for approximate 12 days after oil application. Oil application was safe when applied to ‘Hongyang’ kiwifruit to control P. pentagona at the first generation 1st instar (4-18 days after fruit set). 1% oil application during the second generation crawler peak (67-74 days after fruit set) caused 3.6-17.6% speckling damage to the fruit skin, and no damage occurred following oil application 83 days after fruit set. 1% oil application on the first generation 1st instar and later the second generation 1st instar reduced the number of P. pentagona infested fruit and safe to ‘Hongyang’ kiwifruit.

In comparison of a traditional cultivar of red-fleshed kiwifruit- ‘Hongyang’ (A. chinensis var. rufopulpa Liang et Ferguson), the genetic characteristics of morphology, cellular and molecular level of a new strain of red-fleshed kiwifruit (A. chinensis var. rufopulpa) ‘SF-F0809’ were evaluated by means of biological observation, somatic chromosome number counting and ISSR marker analysis. The results indicate that the biological characteristics of the flowers, leaves, fruits, etc. of the ‘SF-F0809’ are significantly different from those of the ‘Hongyang’, and its comprehensive properties are better in general. Chromosome number of both ‘SF-F0809’ and ‘Hongyang’ is the same, 2n=2x=58, both are diploid; 67 bands are generated in seven pairs of ISSR primers, and 35 of them are polymorphic bands, accounting for 52.24%. Two to nine polymorphic bands are generated by each primer. All data reveal that there are genetic differences between ‘Hongyang’ and ‘SF-F0809’.

MiR-222-3р has been implicated in tumor cell proliferation and has an important role in the differentiation and maturation of myogenic cells. However, its role in skeletal myoblast proliferation is still unclear. In this study, we found that miR-222-3р expression increases initially and then decreases during C2C12 myoblast proliferation. Using synthetic miRNA mimics and inhibitors in gain- or loss-of-function experiments, we snowed that miR-222-3р overexpression in C2C12 cells promotes myoblast proliferation and represses myofiber formation, while miR-222-3р downregulation has the opposite effect. Using a prediction program, BTG2 was identified as a possible target gene of miR-222-3р. During myogenesis, miR-222-3р mimics repress BTG2 expression, while miR-222-3р inhibitors promote BTG2 expression. Using dual-luciferase reporter assay, we further demonstrated that miR-222-3р specifically targets BTG2. Additionally, we show that siRNA-mediated downregulation of BTG2 expression in C2C12 myoblasts promotes the proliferation and suppresses differentiation. In conclusion, we provide a novel insight into the mechanism by which miR-222-3р regulates the proliferation and differentiation of C2C12 myoblasts by targeting BTG2. This information contributes to our understanding of the role of miRNAs in skeletal muscle development.

Two new microstrip triple-mode resonators loaded with T-shaped open stubs using axially and centrally symmetric spiral structures, respectively, are presented. Spiraled for circuit size reduction, these two half-wavelength resonators can both generate three resonant modes over a wide frequency band by loading two T-stubs with different lengths. Due to the structural symmetry, they can be analyzed by odd- and even-mode method. To validate the design concept, two compact bandpass filters (BPFs) using these two novel resonators with center frequencies of 1.76 GHz and 2.44 GHz for the GSM1800 and WLAN/Zigbee applications, respectively, have been designed, fabricated and tested. The center frequencies and bandwidths can be tunable through the analysis of resonant frequency responses, fractional bandwidths and external quality factor versus the resonator parameters. The final measured results have achieved good consistence with the simulations of these two BPFs.

To investigate the role of TGF-b1 in autophagy and invasion ability in human gastric carcinoma cell line SGC7901.Cultured SGC7901 cells were treated with different concentrations of TGF-b1 for 24 h. The protein expression levels of autophagy relative marker LC3 and Beclin1 were detected by Western blot. The effect of TGF-b1 on invasion ability of SGC7901 cells was detected with transwell method.The results demonstrated that TGF-b1 was able to induced autophagy of SGC7901 cells in a dose-dependent manner. Autophagy inhibitor 3-MA could inhibit TGF-b1 upregulated autophagy. Furthermore, TGF-b1 significantly enhances the invasion ability of SGC7901 cells. However, autophagy inhibitor 3-MA could effectively reverse this process.TGF-b1 enhances SGC7901 cells migration by inducing autophagy.

To study the expression profile and role of microRNA miR-34a in Leukemia stem cells (LSC) and during its metastasis. We examined upon the enforced expression of miR-34a in TIM3 positive leukemia stem cells and study the impact of leukemia stem cells and its metastasis.Samples were collected from acute myeloid leukemia (AML) children along with controls. Immunohistochemistry analysis was performed with TIM3 antibody followed by Sorting of TIM3 positive cells by flow cytometry and the expression level of miR-34a was quantified by qRT-PCR assay.Immunohistochemistry in accordance with Sorting of TIM3 positive cells by flow cytometry concludes that the leukemia stem cells (LSC) were present in the samples. Induced expression of miR-34a in TIM3 positive leukemia stem cells (LSC), inhibits the clonogenic expansion, tumor progression and metastasis of leukemia.The enforced expression of miR-34a in TIM3 positive leukemia stem cells inhibits the leukemia stem cells and its metastasis. Our study illustrates that miR-34a is a key regulator and which will be developed as a novel therapeutic agent against leukemia stem cells (LSC).

To investigate the clinical possibility of low ligation of inferior mesenteric artery (IMA) and lymph nodes dissection in laparoscopic low anterior resection.Data was collected retrospectively from 216 patients who underwent laparoscopic low anterior resection in our hospital from June 2011 to January 2015.Patients were divided into control group (132 cases) and observation group (84 cases). The observation group was treated with low ligation of IMA and lymph nodes dissection, and the control group was cured by high ligation of IMA and lymph nodes dissection. We analyzed the operation time, the number of lymph nodes dissection, the number of lymph nodes removed around the root of IMA, the rate of lymph node metastasis around the root of IMA, the incidence of anastomotic leakage and the ventilation time after the operation.There was no significant difference between the two group in the pre-operative data, operation time, the number of lymph nodes dissection the number of lymph nodes removed around the root of IMA, the rate of lymph node metastasis around the root of IMA and the incidence of anastomotic leakage (P0.05). The observation group were significantly better than the control group the in the ventilation time after the operation (P0.05). The follow up time was 12 to 67 months. The median follow up time was 37 months. One patient in observation group died of cardiovascular disease. One patient in control group died of metastatic carcinoma.Detection of low ligation of inferior mesenteric artery and lymph nodes dissection in laparoscopic low anterior resection is safe and practicable, which should be widely applied.

In this paper, authors present a highly flexible tooling system based on reconfigurable multi-point thermoforming (MPTF) methodology, which has been developed within an EU-granted FP7 project. The MPTF technology employs an actuated-punch matrix to dynamically configure a controllable tool working surface through digitally adjusting relative displacement of each punch in the matrix. Novel MPTF methods have been proposed through re-changing configurations of actuated-punch tooling system according to rapid thermoforming principles and relevant cladding applications. The tooling system includes an industrial-scale prototype of an MPTF tooling integrated with functional CAD/CAE/CAT software interfaces. The numerical simulation with an explicit FEM predicts the unexpected deformation defects of dimples and wrinkles regarding to discrete contact boundaries between punches and the sheet blank. Innovative techniques of variable blank-holder and deformable cushion have been implemented to suppress wrinkling and eliminate dimpling effectively. The tooling system has been successfully applied to manufacture complex double-curved panels, which are described as application examples. Compared with conventional fixed moulds, the flexible tooling offers robust, rapid and re-changeable means to make mould-less manufacturing large freeform panels.

This paper presents a combined experimental and theoretical study on the fundamental thermomechanical properties of high-porosity, wire-woven bulk Kagome (WBK) cellular cores fabricated using a newly developed technique. Particular focus is placed upon the influence of brazing on the strength, forced air convection characteristics, and effective thermal conductivity of thematerial. Upon uniaxial compressive loading, brazing of the WBK joints increases the core strength more than 10 times compared with that without brazing. Thermally, althoughbrazinghas no effect on the effective thermal conductivity, it leads to significantly enhanced heat dissipation under forced convection. In the absence of fluid flow, heat spreading along the lateral ligaments plays no part in conduction, whereas the tortuous ligaments along the direction of conduction act to reduce the effective conductivity. However, under forced convection, the activation of convection from the lateral ligaments as a result of brazing leads to pronounced enhancement of the overall heat dissipation capability.

Multi-point forming (MPF) is a dieless forming method. The upper and lower dies of MPF are composed of discrete height-adjustable punches. However, defect will be generated as some particular dimples crease on the smooth surface parts. Therefore, the addition of elastic cushion between the sheet metal and multi-point die is needed to improve the forming quality of surface parts. In this paper, we investigate the forming quality changes of workpiece through dividing polyurethane elastic cushion of the same thickness into different layers. Besides, spherical parts are selected as the study objects. The dynamic explicit algorithm is used to simulate the MPF process and static implicit algorithm is used to simulate springback. The results demonstrate that the values of the strain, stress and residual stress are smaller in process of multi-layers than that of one layer, and the distributions of the stress and strain are more uniform. Based on the results, it was also found that the layered polyurethane elastic cushion can effectively improve the quality of forming parts in MPF.

Neuronal circuitry between the inferior mesenteric ganglion (IMG) and the distal colon as well as the rectum, forming the intestino-intestinal reflex pathway, was investigated in the dog using immunohistochemistry combined with retrograde tract tracing and denervation experiments. Virtually all IMG neurons were tyrosine hydroxylase (TH)-immunoreactive. Of these ganglionic neurons, about 64% were also immunoreactive for calbindin (Calb), some 35% for neuropeptide Y (NPY), and 2% for vasoactive intestinal peptide (VIP). The retrograde tracer experiments revealed that both Calb/TH neurons and NPY/TH neurons projected to the distal colon and the rectum. In these intestinal walls, Calb/TH positive varicose fibers were found in the myenteric and submucous ganglia as well as in the longitudinal muscle layer, while NPY/TH positive fibers were mainly distributed around the vascular walls. Around Calb/TH neurons of the IMG, abundant varicose nerve fibers immunoreactive for VIP, dynorphin (DYN), calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP), enkephalin (ENK), substance P (SP) and bombesin (BOM) were distributed. These immunoreactive fibers disappeared after the total denervation of the IMG. After the application of Fast Blue into the IMG or distal stumps of transected lumbar colonic and hypogastric nerves, retrogradely labeled neurons occurred in the myenteric plexus with increasing density along the distal colon and rectum, and were immunoreactive for VIP, DYN, CGRP, ENK, SP or BOM. Double immunostaining of nerve fibers in the distal stumps of the ligated colonic and hypogastric nerves revealed the presence of viscerofugal fibers containing VIP with DYN and/or CGRP and those containing ENK with SP and/or BOM. These results demonstrate for the first time that the efferent limb of the canine intestino-intestinal reflex arch via the IMG consists of Calb-immunoreactive ganglion neurons projecting to the longitudinal muscles in addition to the enteric plexus of the lower intestine and also of NPY-immunoreactive ganglion neurons projecting to the intestinal blood vessels, and that the afferent limb is composed of at least two discrete groups with different peptide contents, i.e., myenteric neurons containing VIP with DYN and/or CGRP and those containing ENK with SP and/or BOM.

The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of dietary supplementation of nanoparticle trivalent chromium on nutrient utilization, growth performance and serum traits of broilers. This study included two trials. In trial 1, 32 three-week-old broilers were divided into four groups: the control, chromium chloride (CrCl3), chromium picolinate (CrPic) and nanoparticle chromium picolinate (NanoCrPic). Chromium was added at a 1200 μg/kg level to evaluate the nutrient and chromium utilization. In trial 2, 160 one-day-old broilers were randomly divided into four groups as in trial 1, with four replicates. The results of trial 1 indicated that the chromium utilization is as follows: NanoCrPic > CrPic > CrCl3 and control groups, with significant differences between groups (p < 0.05). Crude fat utilization in CrCl3 group was lower than in that the control group (p < 0.05). The results of trial 2 indicated that feed intake of 4-5 weeks showed better result in the CrCl3 group than that in the CrPic group (p < 0.05). The results of serum traits indicated that the LDL-cholesterol in the NanoCrPic groups was lower than that in the CrPic group (p < 0.05). The NanoCrpic and CrPic groups showed significantly increased serum chromium concentration when compared with the control and CrCl3 groups; the triglyceride level in the CrCl3 group was lower than that in the CrPic group (p < 0.05). This study concluded that compared with CrPic, NanoCrpic supplementation could increase chromium utilization and lower the serum LDL-cholesterol of broilers.

The dsz gene cluster of Rhodococcus erythropolis IGTS8 comprises three genes, dszA, dszB, and dszC, whose products are involved in the conversion of dibenzothiophene (DBT) to 2-hydroxybiphenyl and sulfite. This organism can use DBT as the sole sulfur source but not as a carbon source. Dsz activity is repressed by methionine, cysteine, Casamino Acids, and sulfate but not by DBT or dimethyl sulfoxide. We cloned 385 bp of the DNA immediately 5' to dszA in front of the reporter gene lacZ of Escherichia coli. We showed that this region contains a Rhodococcus promoter and at least three dsz regulatory regions. After hydrazine mutagenesis of this DNA, colonies that were able to express beta-galactosidase in the presence of Casamino Acids were isolated. Sequencing of these mutants revealed two possible regulatory regions. One is at -263 to -244, and the other is at -93 to -38, where -1 is the base preceding the A of the initiation codon ATG of dszA. An S1 nuclease protection assay showed that the start of the dsz promoter is the G at -46 and that transcription is repressed by sulfate and cysteine but not by dimethyl sulfoxide. The promoter encompasses a region of potential diad symmetry that may contain an operator. Immediately upstream of the promoter is a protein-binding domain between -146 and -121. Deletion of this region did not affect repression, but promoter activity appeared to be reduced by threefold. Thus, it could be an activator binding site or an enhancer region.
