The pulse velocity of the ultrasonic wave in the soil can reflect the elastic parameters and characteristics of the soil. In order to study the feasibility of using ultra-sonic pulse velocity (UPV) to detect hard foreign matter in the soil of farmland (within 40cm), sand was selected as the research object, and an ultrasonic pulse velocity test device was designed and used with non-metal ultrasonic detector. The acoustic parameters of the soil samples before and after the embedding of hard foreign bodies were measured, and the feasibility of the application of the detection of hard foreign bodies in the farmland tillage layer by ultrasonic pulse velocity test was analyzed. The results show that it is feasible to use the ultrasonic pulse velocity test to detect the hard foreign object embedded in the farmland layer according to the variation of the ultrasonic wave propagation velocity and the amplitude of the sound wave in the soil medium. This study provides an experimental basis for the next stage of the project.
