IntroductionIn the elder population, both low hemoglobin (Hb)/anemia and osteoporosis (OP) are highly prevalent. However, the relationship between Hb and OP is still poorly understood. This study was to evaluate the correlation between Hb and OP in Chinese elderly population.MethodsOne thousand and sisty-eight individuals aged 55–85 years were enrolled into this cross-sectional study during June 2019–November 2019. Data on the demographics and clinical characteristics were recorded. Detections of complete blood count, liver/kidney function, glucose metabolism and lipid profile, and thoracolumbar X-ray were performed, and bone mineral density (BMD) at lumbar spine 1–4, femur neck, and total hip was measured by dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA). Univariate and multivariate linear regression analyses were employed to evaluate the correlation between Hb with BMD T-score. Logistic regression analysis was performed to access the correlation between different Hb levels and the odds ratio (OR) for OP.ResultsCompared with non-OP group, OP patients had lower level of Hb. Univariate linear regression analysis indicated Hb level was positively related to the BMD of lumbar spine 1–4, femur neck and total hip, and this relationship remained after adjusting confounding variables [gender, age, body mass index (BMI), diabetes mellitus (DM) and morphological vertebral fracture]. Logistic regression analysis showed the ORs for OP decreased with the increase of Hb. Compared with the subjects with the lowest quartile of Hb, the OR for OP in the highest quartile group was 0.60 (0.41–0.89) after adjusting for gender, age and BMI, and the OR for OP was 0.62 (0.41–0.92) after further adjustment for gender, age, BMI, DM, and lipid indexes.DiscussionIn conclusion, Lower Hb level is related to lower BMD in the elderly population. However, whether Hb level could be used to predict the risk of OP needs to be further determined in more longitudinal clinical studies.

Mining structured knowledge from tweets using named entity recognition (NER) can be beneficial for many downstream applications such as recommendation and intention under standing. With tweet posts tending to be multimodal, multimodal named entity recognition (MNER) has attracted more attention. In this paper, we propose a novel approach, which can dynamically align the image and text sequence and achieve the multi-level cross-modal learning to augment textual word representation for MNER improvement. To be specific, our framework can be split into three main stages: the first stage focuses on intra-modality representation learning to derive the implicit global and local knowledge of each modality, the second evaluates the relevance between the text and its accompanying image and integrates different grained visual information based on the relevance, the third enforces semantic refinement via iterative cross-modal interactions and co-attention. We conduct experiments on two open datasets, and the results and detailed analysis demonstrate the advantage of our model.

Highly contagious respiratory illnesses like influenza and COVID-19 pose serious risks to public health. A two-in-one vaccine would be ideal to avoid multiple vaccinations for these diseases. Here, we generated a chimeric receptor binding domain of the spike protein (S-RBD) and hemagglutinin (HA)-stalk-based vaccine for both SARS-CoV-2 and influenza viruses. The S-RBD from SARS-CoV-2 Delta was fused to the headless HA from H1N1 (H1Delta), creating a chimera that forms trimers in solution. The cryo-electron microscopy structure of the chimeric protein complexed with the RBD-targeting CB6 and the HA-stalk-targeting CR9114 antibodies shows that the trimeric protein is stable and accessible for neutralizing antibody binding. Immunization with the vaccine elicited high and long-lasting neutralizing antibodies and effectively protected mice against the challenges of lethal H1N1 or heterosubtypic H5N8, as well as the SARS-CoV-2 Delta or Omicron BA.2 variants. Overall, this study offers a two-in-one universal vaccine design to combat infections caused by both SARS-CoV-2 variants of concern and influenza viruses.

The crowd flows prediction plays an important role in urban planning management and urban public safety. Accuracy is a challenge for predicting the flow of crowds in a region. On the one hand, crowd flow is influenced by many factors such as holidays and weather. On the other hand, sample data about crowd flows are generally high-dimensional, which not only has a negative impact on the prediction accuracy but also increases computational complexity. In this paper, an efficiency-enhanced model is constructed for predicting citywide crowd flows based on multi-source data using deep learning techniques. Specifically, a data reconstruction mechanism is built with Bernoulli restricted Boltzmann machine (BRBM), for the purpose of reducing the dimension of sample data. A collaborative prediction mechanism is introduced to improve the prediction accuracy of crowd flows, in which a spatio-temporal data oriented prediction model is constructed based on bottleneck residual network that can reduce the effectively computational complexity of model training, and an auxiliary prediction to further optimize the prediction accuracy based on the fully-connected network. The proposed method is evaluated by using two open datasets. The experimental results show that our method can significantly improve the prediction accuracy and reduce the training time of the prediction model, compared with other methods.

Extracting cybersecurity entities such as attackers and vulnerabilities from unstructured network texts is an important part of security analysis. However, the sparsity of intelligence data resulted from the higher frequency variations and the randomness of cybersecurity entity names makes it difficult for current methods to perform well in extracting security-related concepts and entities. To this end, we propose a semantic augmentation method which incorporates different linguistic features to enrich the representation of input tokens to detect and classify the cybersecurity names over unstructured text. In particular, we encode and aggregate the constituent feature, morphological feature and part of speech feature for each input token to improve the robustness of the method. More than that, a token gets augmented semantic information from its most similar K words in cybersecurity domain corpus where an attentive module is leveraged to weigh differences of the words, and from contextual clues based on a large-scale general field corpus. We have conducted experiments on the cybersecurity datasets DNRTI and MalwareTextDB, and the results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Enterprise relation extraction aims to detect pairs of enterprise entities and identify the business relations between them from unstructured or semi-structured text data, and it is crucial for several real-world applications such as risk analysis, rating research and supply chain security. However, previous work mainly focuses on getting attribute information about enterprises like personnel and corporate business, and pays little attention to enterprise relation extraction. To encourage further progress in the research, we introduce the CEntRE, a new dataset constructed from publicly available business news data with careful human annotation and intelligent data processing. Extensive experiments on CEntRE with six excellent models demonstrate the challenges of our proposed dataset.

To pursue a sustainable and efficient approach for aliphatic nitroester preparation from alcohol, europium-triflate-catalyzed nitration, which directly uses commercial nitric acid, has been successfully developed. Gram scalability with operational ease showed its practicability.

Background: The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) had become a health care event endangering humans globally. It takes up a large number of healthcare resources. We studied the impact of COVID-19 on patients with ovarian cancer by comprehensively analyzing their admissions before and after the epidemic, and made reasonable suggestions to improve their current situation.Methods: We randomly divided the enrolled patients into three groups, PreCOVID-19 Group (PCG) (2019.8.20–2020.1.20), COVID-19 Group (CG) (2020.1.21–2020.6.14), and Secondary Outbreak COVID-19 Group (SOCG) (2020.6.15–2020.10.10). One-way ANOVA and chi-square test were used for analysis.Results: The number of patients from other provinces decreased significantly (p < 0.05). The total hospital stay during the epidemic was substantially more extended (p < 0.05). Before the epidemic, our department performed more open surgery while during the epidemic outbreak, we tended to choose laparoscopy (p < 0.01). We took a longer surgery time (P < 0.05). Patients had significantly less post-operative fever during the epidemic (p < 0.001).Conclusion: During the COVID-19 epidemic, no patient was infected with COVID-19, and no patient experienced severe post-operative complications. We recommend maintaining the admissions of patients with ovarian cancer during the epidemic following the rules: 1. The outpatients must complete a nucleic acid test and chest CT in the outpatient clinic; 2. Maintain full daily disinfection of the ward and insist that health care workers disinfect their hands after contact with patients; 3. Increase the use of minimally invasive procedures, including laparoscopy and robotics; 4. Disinfect the ward twice a day with UV light and sodium hypochlorite disinfectant; 5. Patients need to undergo at least three nucleic acid tests before entering the operating room.

Pneumonia is a kind of inflammation, which can cause high morbidity and mortality, and the treatment of pneumonia has received widespread attention. Heme oxygenase-1 (HMOX1) is a cell protective enzyme and can generate an anti-inflammatory response. Here, we demonstrate that degradable carbon dots (from L-ascorbic acid, CDs-1) can up-regulate the expression of HMOX1 in animal cells and tissues, which has a therapeutic effect on LPS-induced acute lung injury in mice. It was confirmed from in vitro experiments that CDs-1 could significantly up-regulate the expression of mRNA and the protein of HMOX1, which can increase the expression of HMOX1 by 5 times in a short time, decreasing the reactive oxygen species level in a cellular inflammation model induced by LPS. Furthermore, a series of in vivo comparative experiments show that CDs-1 could effectively treat acute lung injury and improve the survival rate of mice to 80%. Our work provides a practical way for the treatment of acute inflammation and the promising application of CDs in anti-inflammation.

Carbon-based nanomaterials (CNMs) have been widely applied to various fields, such as catalysis, sensing and biomedicine. The understanding of the toxicological impacts of CNMs could better help us to make use of these materials. Carbon dots (CDs), a new member of the carbon nanomaterials' family, have become a hot topic in scientific research due to their excellent water solubility, easy modification and unique optical properties. Herein, degradable CDs, which could be degraded under visible light, were synthesized by a one-step electrolytic method. These CDs have further demonstrated their toxic effects on Chlorella vulgaris. The algae growth, oxidative stress, cell morphology and photosynthetic activity were assessed for evaluating the toxicology of the obtained CDs. Results showed that the CDs were detrimental to the growth of Chlorella vulgaris and the EC50 for the growth of Chlorella vulgaris after 4 days was 70 μg mL−1 based on the growth rate. The CDs can cause oxidative stress by producing amounts of ROS and increasing the activities of SOD by 49%. Furthermore, CDs can disrupt the photosynthetic system of Chlorella vulgaris. They changed the cells' photosynthetic pigment content, decreased the Rubisco activity (−32%) and inhibited the transcription of photosynthesis-related genes.

This article studied the harmlessness of SPL. The generation, composition, and toxicological characteristics of SPL are introduced. Under the conditions of no strong acid, no strong alkali, and normal temperature, by leaching and chemical reaction, the harmful substances such as cyanide and fluoride in slurry are transformed into nontoxic products. The technical principle and experimental results of the wet acid-free treatment process of SPL are expounded. The process is described in detail, and the industrial application results of wet acid-free technology in SPL are introduced.

Structural basis of HCoV-19 fusion core and an effective inhibition peptide against virus entry

Changes in labile carbon (LC) pools and microbial communities are the primary factors controlling soil heterotrophic respiration (Rh ) in warming experiments. Warming is expected to initially increase Rh but studies show this increase may not be continuous or sustained. Specifically, LC and soil microbiome have been shown to contribute to the effect of extended warming on Rh . However, their relative contribution is unclear and this gap in knowledge causes considerable uncertainty in the prediction of carbon cycle feedbacks to climate change. In this study, we used a two-step incubation approach to reveal the relative contribution of LC limitation and soil microbial community responses in attenuating the effect that extended warming has on Rh . Soil samples from three Tibetan ecosystems-an alpine meadow (AM), alpine steppe (AS), and desert steppe (DS)-were exposed to a temperature gradient of 5-25°C. After an initial incubation period, soils were processed in one of two methods: (a) soils were sterilized then inoculated with parent soil microbes to assess the LC limitation effects, while controlling for microbial community responses; or (b) soil microbes from the incubations were used to inoculate sterilized parent soils to assess the microbial community effects, while controlling for LC limitation. We found both LC limitation and microbial community responses led to significant declines in Rh by 37% and 30%, respectively, but their relative contributions were ecosystem specific. LC limitation alone caused a greater Rh decrease for DS soils than AMs or ASs. Our study demonstrates that soil carbon loss due to Rh in Tibetan alpine soils-especially in copiotrophic soils-will be weakened by microbial community responses under short-term warming.

A simple impregnation–calcination method has been proposed to produce excellent photocatalytic Z-scheme Zn3(VO4)2 porous nanoflower/g-C3N4 nanosheet (ZV-CN) heterostructure photocatalyst. The optical, morphological and photocatalytical properties were investigated in details. Interestingly, after coupling Zn3(VO4)2 with g-C3N4, the hybrids exhibited the extended spectral response and obviously enhanced photocatalytic MB dye mineralization activity. Particularly, the high stable and reusable 5-ZV-CN photocatalyst possessed excellent photocatalytic performance (95.45%) for MB degradation as compared to g-C3N4 (57.66%) and Zn3(VO4)2 (36.71%), which could be attributed to the drastically improved separation efficiency of photoinduced carries, the stronger oxidation and reduction ability via direct Z-scheme transfer as well as the porous surfaces. This present work provides a new kind of g-C3N4 based Z-scheme heterojunctions with high photocatalytic activity.

In this paper, a novel Ta3N5/g-C3N4 metal/non-metal nitride hybrid was successfully synthesized by a facile impregnation method. The photocatalytic activity of Ta3N5/g-C3N4 hybrid nitrides was evaluated by the degradation of organic dye rhodamine B (RhB) under visible light irradiation, and the result indicated that all Ta3N5/g-C3N4 samples exhibited distinctly enhanced photocatalytic activities for the degradation of RhB than pure g-C3N4. The optimal Ta3N5/g-C3N4 composite sample, with Ta3N5 mass ratio of 2%, demonstrated the highest photocatalytic activity, and its degradation rate constant was 2.71 times as high as that of pure g-C3N4. The enhanced photocatalytic activity of this Ta3N5/g-C3N4 metal/metal-free nitride was predominantly attributed to the synergistic effect which increased visible-light absorption and facilitated the efficient separation of photoinduced electrons and holes. The Ta3N5/g-C3N4 hybrid nitride exhibited excellent photostability and reusability. The possible mechanism for improved photocatalytic performance was proposed. Overall, this work may provide a facile way to synthesize the highly efficient metal/metal-free hybrid nitride photocatalysts with promising applications in environmental purification and energy conversion.

In this paper, amorphous Ta 2 O 5 /g-C 3 N 4 nanosheet (ATCN) hybrid was firstly constructed by a facile ultrasonic dispersion process. In this way, amorphous Ta 2 O 5 nanoparticles anchored evenly onto the surface of g-C 3 N 4 nanosheets, forming the intimate interfacial contacts. The as-prepared ATCN composites exhibited significantly enhanced photocatalytic activities for the degradation of RhB compared to pure g-C 3 N 4 and amorphous Ta 2 O 5 nanoparticles under visible light illumination (λ > 420 nm). The optimal ATCN-3 photocatalyst possessed the highest visible-light photocatalytic activity (99.14%) and the degradation rate constant was 2.0055 h −1 , which was almost 6.2 and 14.9 times as high as those of individual g-C 3 N 4 and amorphous Ta 2 O 5 , respectively. Particularly, ATCN sample had good reusability and stability even after four cycles. Interestingly, amorphous Ta 2 O 5 /g-C 3 N 4 nanosheet hybrid showed higher photocatalytic activity than crystalline Ta 2 O 5 /g-C 3 N 4 . The enhanced photocatalytic performance was assigned to the synergistic effects including high surface area, enhanced visible light harvesting, efficiently interfacial charge transfer and reduced charge recombination. The plausible mechanism for improved photocatalytic properties was elucidated.

MYB family genes act as important regulators modulating the response to abiotic stress in plants. However, much less is known about MYB proteins in cotton. Here, we found that a cotton MYB gene, GhMYB73, was induced by NaCl and abscisic acid (ABA). Silencing GhMYB73 expression in cotton increased sensitivity to salt stress. The cotyledon greening rate of Arabidopsis thaliana over-expressing GhMYB73 under NaCl or mannitol treatment was significantly enhanced during the seedling germination stage. What's more, several osmotic stress-induced genes, such as AtNHX1, AtSOS3 and AtP5CS1, were more highly induced in the over-expression lines than in wild type under salt treatment, supporting the hypothesis that GhMYB73 contributes to salinity tolerance by improving osmotic stress resistance. Arabidopsis lines over-expressing GhMYB73 had superior germination and cotyledon greening under ABA treatment, and some abiotic stress-induced genes involved in ABA pathways (AtPYL8, AtABF3, AtRD29B and AtABI5), had increased transcription levels under salt-stress conditions in these lines. Furthermore, we found that GhMYB73 physically interacts with GhPYL8 and AtPYL8, suggesting that GhMYB73 regulates ABA signaling during salinity stress response. Taken together, over-expression of GhMYB73 significantly increases tolerance to salt and ABA stress, indicating that it can potentially be used in transgenic technology approaches to improve cotton salt tolerance.

This paper presents a multi-UAV 3D path planning method based on sparse A* algorithm. Firstly, the UAV performance constraints model is established. Secondly, the improved three-dimensional sparse A* path planning algorithm is proposed. Thirdly, the collaborative path planning correction mechanism under a dynamic environment is designed, which uses an established correlation-impact degree model. Finally, based on an assumed battlefield environment, the method is simulated. The results show that the algorithm can carry out multi-UAV path planning and meet the time-space coordination, the collaborative path planning correction mechanism can effectively deal with the sudden threat.

It\'s well known to all that operating an UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) safely and efficiently under endpoint constraints can be challenging in an interactive environment. And how to autonomously generate the optimal decision policy of UAV maneuvering is one of the key issues of solving this matter. In this paper, we proposed an autonomous maneuvering decision algorithm based on deep reinforcement learning to train the UAV agent for generating efficient maneuvers under endpoint constraints in an interactive environment. Finally, according to the self-developed simulation examples, a desirable maneuvering decision policy is developed by the algorithm we proposed.

An interlayer structure hybrid photocatalyst of TiO2 hollow sphere/g-C3N4 (TOCN) has been successfully constructed via a facile impregnation process. The photocatalytic activity was evaluated by degrading Rhodamine B under visible irradiation. TOCN-2 with 33 wt.% g-C3N4 had much higher photocatalytic efficiency (98.09%) than pure g-C3N4 (18.62%) and TiO2 hollow sphere (16.37%). Significantly, TOCN-2 showed much superior photocatalytic performance than TiO2 nanoparticle/g-C3N4 composite (53.16%), indicating the hollow morphology of TiO2 also played a crucial role for RhB degradation. In TOCN system, both the morphology effect of TiO2 and the synergistic effects between TiO2 and g-C3N4 resulted in significantly enhancing photocatalytic performance.

In order to achieve unmanned aerial vehicle operation control “human — machine — environment” coherence as a typical example of the application of loop control, the design and development of the modern unmanned aerial vehicle ground control station (GCS) is widely use human engineering. However, due to the extreme lack of human data in the actual environment, GCS human reliability analysis and evaluation work is seriously limited. Thus, with the CGS human engineering evaluation background, this paper relies on low-cost hardware equipment Leap Motion to carry out human data capture technology. First of all, the feasibility of GCS manpower data acquisition on Leap Motion was proofed by analyzing the space adaptability, capture speed accuracy adaptability and secondary development ability etc. Then those key technologies including action capturing, action modeling and information processing were studied and specific work processes and application opportunities were discussed. From the final results, gestures and motions of virtual hands were same as real ones. The building processing speed was far from minimum demand of 15 frames per second. The accuracy and real-time performance of analysis demonstrated the movements accurately capture and data processing ability on the whole, which satisfied real time and accuracy requirements for the manpower data capturing.

This study used three-factor linear regression orthogonal design to examine the impacts of traditional Chinese herbal medicine on egg quality and egg-laying hens’ biochemical indexes. 495 and 210d Hy-Line gray commercial egg-laying hens were selected and spirulina powder was added to their diet at 5 g/kg, 10g/kg, 15g/kg in the diet, rchmannia glutnosa polysaccharides were added at 2.5g/kg, 3 g/kg, 3.5 g/kg, and Leonurus Japonicas was added at 0.7 g/kg, 0.9g/kg, 1.1 g/kg. The hens were randomly allocated to a control group and ten test groups, in order to study the herbs’ effects on laying performance and immunity parameters. The results showed that: (1)When spirulina-Chinese herbal medicine was added, the average egg weight, yolk color, and Hartz unit increased significantly.(2) When spirulina powder levels were increased, the egg yolk color and iron content significantly increased while the cholesterol and triglyceride levels were significantly lower (P>0.05). With the increase of rchmannia glutnosa polysaccharides extracts, eggshell strength increased significantly (P>0.01). Egg yolk color and eggshell strength increased significantly (P>0.05 and P>0.01, respectively) when Leonurus Japonicas increased. (3) Spirulina powder and rchmannia glutnosa polysaccharides extracts were significantly antagonistic to average egg weight and eggshell strength (P>0.01). Leonurus Japonicus and rchmannia glutnosa polysaccharides were significantly antagonistic to eggshell strength and cholesterol levels (P>0.05).

Human Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor 2 (HER2) is an ideal target for anti-tumor drug development especially for breast cancer. Based on this target, either for new drug, bio-better, bio-similar screening at discovery level, or for drug substance and drug product release at QC or industry level, a reliable and robust biological potency assay is urgently needed. In this study, a BT-474 cell based anti-proliferation biological potency assay targeting HER2 was developed after an optimization of some key aspects, including cell line, seeded cell density, incubation time, and usable method for viable cell staining. Following optimization, the assay was validated to identify its specificity, precision, accuracy, linearity, range, and robustness. A novel ionic liquid modified copolymer hydrogel (PAMDA) was successfully synthesized by a simple water solution copolymerization using acrylamide (AM), dimethyldiallylammonium chloride (DADMAC) and ionic liquid (1-allyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride; [Amim]Cl) as copolymerization monomers. The structure and morphology of as-prepared copolymer hydrogel PAMDA were confirmed by Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR), field-emission scanning electron microscope (FE-SEM) and thermogravimetric analysis (TG). The copolymer hydrogel was applied as a novel adsorbent for the rapid removal of Cr (VI) from aqueous solution. The effects of several parameters such as the content of ionic liquid [Amim]Cl, solution pH, contact time, adsorbent dosage and initial Cr (VI) concentration on the adsorption were also investigated. The modification of [Amim]Cl significantly enhanced Cr (VI) adsorption. The adsorption equilibrium data fitted with Langmuir isotherm model better than Freundlich isotherm model. The maximum adsorption capacity for Cr (VI) ions was 74.5 mg L(-1) at 323 K based on Langmuir isotherm model. The removal rate could reach 95.9% within 10 min at 323 K and the adsorption process of Cr (VI) on PAMDA was well described by the pseudo-second-order kinetic model. The activation energy of adsorption was further investigated and found to be 1.094 kJ mol(-1), indicating the adsorption of Cr (VI) onto PAMDA was physisorption.

The objective of this study was to analyze the clinical manifestation, imaging characteristics, genotype, and the relationship between the three aforementioned parameters in two pedigrees suffering from spinocerebellar ataxia. To evaluate the clinical manifestation of the two pedigrees and to compare the characteristics, we performed the MRI analysis of some patients from both pedigrees, while 2 ml of the peripheral blood sample was collected for gene analysis. The gene analysis data showed that pedigree 1 was certified spinocerebellar ataxia type-2 (SCA2); the CAG repeats in the proband, proband’s mother, and proband’s brother were 44, 36, and 38, respectively. The MRI revealed brainstem cerebellar atrophy and “cross sign” and “ordinate sign” of pons. Pedigree 2 was certified SCA1; the CAG repeats of the proband, proband’s aunt, and proband’s asymptomatic cousin were 60, 51, and 52, respectively. The MRI revealed cerebellar atrophy in these individuals. We, therefore, concluded that it was difficult to diagnose the SCA subset solely through the clinical manifestation. The imaging characteristics analysis and final diagnosis depended basically on gene analysis data.

To study the bioactive metabolites produced by sponge-derived uncultured symbionts, a metagenomic DNA library of the symbionts of spongeGelliodes gracilis was constructed. The average size of DNA inserts in the library was 20 kb. This library was screened for antibiotic activity using paper dise assaying. Two clones displayed the antibacterial activity againstMicrococcus tetragenus. The metabolites of these two clones were analyzed through HPLC. The result showed that their metabolites were quite different from those of the hostE. coli DH5α and the host containing vector pHZ132. This study may present a new approach to exploring bioactive metabolites of sponge symbionts.
