To explore the photophysical properties of coordination compounds with bright blue fluorescence an azomethin-zinc complex was synthesized and characterized by various techniques (EA, TG, IR- mass-spectroscopy). The crystal structure was determined by X-ray diffraction analysis. Through thermal characterization this complex was proved to have good thermal stability. Photoluminescence spectra were recorded both in solution and in the solid state, and the complexes showed noteworthy photoluminescence with a maximum in the blue region. The results of time-dependent density functional theory calculations indicated that the origin of luminescence for the title complex is due to a combination of monomer and eximer emissions. The light emission performance of the zinc complex in organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs) was investigated, and the results indicated superior electroluminescnce properties as a blue fluorescent light source (max. brightness 17000 cd/m2, max. EQE = 5%).

Synthesis and properties of new luminescent amphiphilic Tb(III) complexes [TbL3·2H2O]·3H2O, TbL3·bipy, [H3O][TbL4]·6H2O and [H3O][TbL′3L]·H2O, where HL is 1-phenyl-3-methyl-4-stearoylpyrazolone-5 and HL′ is 1-phenyl-3-methyl-4-formylpyrazolone-5, are reported. The complexes have been characterized by elemental and thermal analysis, FTIR and luminescence spectroscopy methods. Formation and properties of Langmuir–Blodgett films of the complexes are described.

CAPLUS AN 2012:1719850(Journal; Online Computer File); Two partly new [Fe(Intz)6](BF4)2 complexes with n = 3 and 4 (I3tz = 1-isopropyl-1H-tetrazole, I4tz = 1-isobutyl-1H-tetrazole) were synthesized and characterized by x-ray powder diffraction, magnetic susceptibility measurements, vibrational, electronic and 57Fe-Mossbauer spectroscopy as well as DSC. The [Fe(I3tz)6](BF4)2 complex was re-studied and shows an incomplete spin transition at Tc ∼ 109 K, while the [Fe(I4tz)6](BF4)2 features a complete but rather gradual spin transition with T1/2 = 223 K. In the lack of suitable crystals of [Fe(Intz)6](BF4)2 with n = 3 and 4, the authors synthesized crystals of [Ni(Intz)6](BF4)2 with n = 3 and 4, detd. their x-ray crystal structures, and proved them to be homeotypic with the resp. Fe-complexes by X-ray powder diffraction. DSC measurements showed an endothermic peak for the [Fe(I3tz)6](BF4)2 around T = 260 K not corresponding to a spin transition and suggesting a structural phase transition at this temp. A well-developed peak at Tp = 225 K matches the spin-transition temp. T1/2 = 223 K for [Fe(I4tz)6](BF4)2. [on SciFinder(R)]

Based on 1-(cyclohexylmethyl)-1H-tetrazole (C6mtz), a series of mononuclear iron(II) spin-crossover (SCO) complexes with the general formula [Fe(C6mtz)6]X2, where X is the non-coordinating anion BF4ˉ (1), ClO4ˉ (2), or PF6ˉ (3), have been synthesized and characterized. Temperature dependent magnetic susceptibility measurements for 1, 2 and 3 show reversible one-step spin crossover behavior between high spin (HS, S = 2) and low spin (LS, S = 0) states without hysteresis. The PF6ˉ compound shows spin transition at T1/2 = 213 K at a considerably higher temperature than the other compounds, BF4ˉ (T1/2 = 126 K) and ClO4ˉ (T1/2 = 119 K). Temperature dependent far-IR and Mössbauer spectra of 2 and 3 were compared with the measured magnetic susceptibility and confirm the one-step spin crossover behavior of the compounds.
