1. Deep learning based enhancement of ordered statistics decoding of LDPC codes

Abstract

Aiming at designing plausible decoders with channel information free, low complexity, high throughput, and approaching maximum likelihood performance, we put forward a streamlined architecture which concatenates sequentially three components. Specifically, to tackle the decoding failures of normalized min-sum, the whole decoding trajectory, not limited to the last iteration information conventionally, is fed into a trained convolutional neural network to yield new reliability metric for each sequence bit, termed decoding information aggregation. Then an adapted order statistics decoding, following the suggested decoding path, is adopted to process the sequence ordered with new metric more efficiently in that many invalid searches contained in conventional methods otherwise are evaded. The role of decoding information aggregation is elaborated via statistics data to reveal that it can arrange more error-prone bits into the fore part of most reliable basis of order statistics decoding, which is vital for the effective decoding enhancement. We argue the superposition of improved bitwise reliability of the most reliable basis and the imposed rigorous code structure by OSD enables the proposed architecture being a competitive rival of the state of the art decoders, which was verified in extensive simulation in terms of performance, complexity and latency for short and moderate LDPC codes., 9 pages, 6 figures, 2 tables

Abstract

Background: Neuroimaging is an important tool in early detection of Alzheimer’s disease (AD), which is a serious neurodegenerative brain disease among the elderly subjects. Independent component analysis (ICA) is arguably one of the most widely used algorithm for the analysis of brain imaging data, which can be used to extract intrinsic networks of brain from functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI). Method: Witnessed by recent studies, a more flexible model known as restricted Boltzmann machine (RBM) can also be used to extract spatial maps and time courses of intrinsic networks from resting state fMRI, moreover, RBM shows superior temporal features than ICA. Here, we seek to employ RBM to improve the performance of classifying individuals. Experiments are performed on healthy controls and subjects at the early stage of AD, i.e., cognitive normal (CN) and early mild cognitive impairment participants (EMCI), and two types of data, i.e., structural magnetic resonance imaging (sMRI) and fMRI data. Results: (1) By separately employing ICA for sMRI and fMRI, the features extracted from fMRI improve classification accuracy by 7.5% for CN and EMCI; (2) instead of applying ICA to fMRI, using RBM further improves classification accuracy by 7.75% for CN and EMCI; (3) the lesions at the early stage of AD are more likely to occur in the regions around slices 4, 6, 10, 14, 19, 51 and 59 of the whole brain in the longitudinal direction. Conclusion: By using fMRI instead of sMRI and RBM instead of ICA, we can classify CN and EMCI more efficiently.

Abstract

OBJECTIVE The objectives of this study were to measure the global impact of the pandemic on the volumes for intravenous thrombolysis (IVT), IVT transfers, and stroke hospitalizations over 4 months at the height of the pandemic (March 1 to June 30, 2020) compared with two control 4-month periods. METHODS We conducted a cross-sectional, observational, retrospective study across 6 continents, 70 countries, and 457 stroke centers. Diagnoses were identified by their ICD-10 codes and/or classifications in stroke databases. Abstract

Space diversity is one of the important techniques of overcoming the influence of atmospheric turbulence on laser communication. Having analyzed the theory of diversity technique, the paper has focused on researching the space diversity technique and established the joint probability density function of the threshold value. Outage probability is studied in laser communication and get the variation curve of power gain and the number of antenna in different atmospheric turbulence. Based on the BPSK modulation mode, the bit error ratio mode of the multi-input multi-output (MIMO) is set up and reach the conclusions that maximum power gain is obtained with an equal amount of transmitting antenna and receiving antenna and the total amount should be not greater than nine. The space diversity technology can effectively reduce the bit error ratio of the system.

Abstract

An improved Rapidly-exploring Random Tree∗ (RRT∗) algorithm was given, which focused on the problem of UAV path planning in 3-D dynamic environment. By considering the constraint of the UAV, the frequency of collision checking in the searching stage was reduced. And this could save searching time. D∗ Lite algorithm was introduced to RRT∗ to solve the dynamic path planning problem. The information of the length and the collision checking results on the route segments was saved to construct a road map. By using the road map, D∗ Lite algorithm could be more efficient. The simulation results show that the improved RRT∗ algorithm can find the result more quickly, and when a sudden threat arise, the algorithm can find a substituted route fast.

Abstract

By in-situ investigation and datum collection, the natural environment, social and economic condition in Changgou county of Zhalong national natural reserve (short for Zhalong N N R) were introduced, and it's influence on habitat that stoped off in Zhalong N N R was analyzed. Results show that food-hunt conflict between local human being living and hooded crane stopped over in Changgou County exists, which may affect hooded crane survival. Agriculture income is the main living source, with less than 2000 RMB a−1. Total amount of food hunted by hooded crane reached to 60 t a−1 when stopover in Changgou during the spring and fall immigration to breeding and live-through-winter habitat. Such great amount of food requirement would influence local farmer's living quality somewhat. According to the survey, 85 per cent farmer would choose to drive hooded crane out of their agricultural land when viewing crane catching crops. Some funds devoted by local government and reserve management system for compensating foodstuff caught by hooded crane is a way to settle conflict between local living and hooded crane survival.

Abstract

The Probabilistic Roadmap Method (PRM) has been successfully implemented in the motion planning field. But, when the sampled points are being connected to each other, collision check is an inevitable step, which is the most time-consuming operation of this method. A new method is proposed, in which the collision check operation is not necessary, and speed up the path planning operation. Based on the paths planed using this method, with the objective of minimizing the time that the UAVs used to complete all the tasks, an optimization method that uses multiple colonies of ants working together to solve the task allocation problem is designed. The simulation results show that it outperforms the genetic algorithm.

Abstract

For finite geometry low-density parity-check codes, heavy row and column weights in their parity check matrix make the decoding with even Min-Sum (MS) variants computationally expensive. To alleviate it, we present a class of hybrid schemes by concatenating a parallel bit flipping (BF) variant with an Min-Sum (MS) variant. In most SNR region of interest, without compromising performance or convergence rate, simulation results show that the proposed hybrid schemes can save substantial computational complexity with respect to MS variant decoding alone. Specifically, the BF variant, with much less computational complexity, bears most decoding load before resorting to MS variant. 10. Fast Reliability-based Algorithm of Finding Minimum-weight Codewords for LDPC Codes

Abstract

Despite the NP hardness of acquiring minimum distance $d_m$ for linear codes theoretically, in this paper we propose one experimental method of finding minimum-weight codewords, the weight of which is equal to $d_m$ for LDPC codes. One existing syndrome decoding method, called serial belief propagation (BP) with ordered statistic decoding (OSD), is adapted to serve our purpose. We hold the conjecture that among many candidate error patterns in OSD reprocessing, modulo 2 addition of the lightest error pattern with one of the left error patterns may generate a light codeword. When the decoding syndrome changes to all-zero state, the lightest error pattern reduces to all-zero, the lightest non-zero error pattern is a valid codeword to update lightest codeword list. Given sufficient codewords sending, the survived lightest codewords are likely to be the target. Abstract

Oral epidemic diseases of exposure personnel in long-term low-dose radiation yet have rarely been studied. Referred to WHO oral health survey method and symptom grading standard, data of 341 exposure persons in long-term low-dose radiation including α particle, β particle, and γ rays, etc., were collected from one camp in China in 2011 with cluster sampling and analyzed? with Foxpro 6.0 and SPSS 16.0 software. The exposure persons worked in low-dose radiation for a long time aged between 23 and 56, whose average age were 27.1 years old.In addition, their lengths of service were from 2 to 34 years (average 7.9 years) and average exposure time was 8 hours a day each year for more than three months. Average annual radiation dose equivalent was from 1.8 to 16.5 mSv (average 7.3 mSv). Total radiation dose equivalent was from 3.8 to 425.0 mSv (average 97.3 mSv).

Abstract

In northwest China, between Tianshan Mt. and the Qunlun‐Altun Mountains lays the Tarim Basin — at 560 000 km2, the country’s largest intracratonic basin. Tarim is different from other cratonic basins, basins with geosynclines, or transitional basins between cratons and geosynclines. It is a giant complex basin composed of a Paleozoic craton overlain by a Mesozoic‐Cenozoic basin. The petroleum system of the Tarim Basin can be characterized by Cambrian‐Ordovician, Carboniferous‐Permian, Triassic‐Jurassic, and Lower Cretaceous‐Eocene source rocks; a favorable reservoir/seal combination; effective migration and trap; and abundant hydrocarbon trap types.
