JCTCV:22(1), Objective: The objective of this retrospective study was to study the outcome of surgical management of pectus excavatum at the CHU of Tours and to assess the level of patient satisfaction. Materials and methods: All patients undergoing pectus excavatum surgery at the CHU of Tours from December 2005 to August 2016 were studied. Patients were subjected to a standardized questionnaire assessing satisfaction and quality of life. Results: A total of 25 procedures were performed according to the Nuss technique and 16 using the Ravitch procedure. Two patients from the Nuss group reported an unsatisfactory aesthetic result, which was followed by a new Nuss procedure for one patient and a surgical Ravitch revision for the other. Two patients in the Ravitch group were reoperated for disjunction and migration of material. A patient died as a result of a severe hemorrhagic complication during a Nuss procedure. In total, 93.4% of patients surveyed reported a high level of satisfaction. Conclusion: The level of satisfaction of patients after surgical correction of pectus excavatum was high. Hemorrhagic complications are rare but severe and must be explained to the patient.
