A semi-supervised learning based EEG signal detection method was studied in this paper. The feature engineering system of this paper was established, which contains novel AutoEncoders mapping features. The optimal channel combination for all subjects was determined to improve recognition accuracy by ReliefF algorithm and recursive feature elimination. What’s more, the semi-supervised learning method based on pseudo-labelling was introduced to the character recognition method, in which the training samples were dynamically reorganized and updated, so that the proposed method could complete the symbol recognition with limited number of training samples. Based on the features extacted and the optimal channel combination, the recognition accuracy of the character recognition method can reach up to 100%. &nbsp

OBJECTIVE To investigate the outcomes of patients with mucoepidermoid carcinoma of the palate undergoing pedicled facial-submental artery island flap (FSIF) reconstruction following resection. PATIENTS AND METHODS 41 patients with early stage disease and 9 patients with advanced-stage disease underwent radical excision and neck dissection. 37 IIb, 4 class IIa and 9 IIIb maxillary defects were reconstructed with FSIF, folded FSIF or folded FSIF with titanium mesh respectively. The skin paddles were 3 × 8 to 5 × 15 cm and 3 × 8 to 5 × 14 cm, respectively. 5 patients with high grade disease were treated with cobalt 60 adjuvant radiotherapy after operation. RESULTS One flap failure occurred, yielding a success rate of 98.0% in the reconstruction of palate II and III defects with FSIF or titanium mesh. The patients were seen for follow-up for 16-60 months postoperative. 76.0% patients alive with no disease (AND); 14.0% patients alive with disease (AD) and 10.0% died of disease (DD). Myocardial fibrosis is the characteristic pathology of diabetes-induced cardiomyopathy. Therefore, an in-depth study of cardiac heterogeneity and cell-to-cell interactions can help elucidate the pathogenesis of diabetic myocardial fibrosis and identify treatment targets for the treatment of this disease. In this study, we investigated intercellular communication drivers of myocardial fibrosis in mouse heart with high-fat-diet/streptozotocin-induced diabetes at single-cell resolution. Intercellular and protein–protein interaction networks of fibroblasts and macrophages, endothelial cells, as well as fibroblasts and epicardial cells revealed critical changes in ligand–receptor interactions such as Pdgf(s)–Pdgfra and Efemp1–Egfr, which promote the development of a profibrotic microenvironment during the progression of and confirmed that the specific inhibition of the Pdgfra axis could significantly improve diabetic myocardial fibrosis. We also identified phenotypically distinct Hrchi and Postnhi fibroblast subpopulations associated with pathological extracellular matrix remodeling, of which the Hrchi fibroblasts were found to be the most profibrogenic under diabetic conditions. Finally, we validated the role of the Itgb1 hub gene-mediated intercellular communication drivers of diabetic myocardial fibrosis in Hrchi fibroblasts, and confirmed the results through AAV9-mediated Itgb1 knockdown in the heart of diabetic mice. In summary, cardiac cell mapping provides novel insights into intercellular communication drivers involved in pathological extracellular matrix remodeling during diabetic myocardial fibrosis.

The implementation of quantum repeaters needed for long-distance quantum communication requires the generation of quantum entanglement distributed among the elementary links. These entanglements must be swapped among the quantum repeaters through Bell-state measurements. This study aims to improve the entanglement generation rate by frequency multiplexing the Bell-state measurements. As a preliminary step of the frequency-multiplexed Bell-state measurements, three frequency modes are mapped to a temporal mode by an atomic frequency comb prepared in $\mathrm{Pr^{3+}}$ ion-doped $\mathrm{Y_2SiO_5}$ crystals using a weak coherent state, and Hong-Ou-Mandel interference, which is a measure of the indistinguishability of two inputs, is observed in each frequency mode by coincidence detection. The visibility for all the modes was 40%-42% (theoretically up to 50%). Furthermore, we show that a mixture of different modes is avoided. The differences in plaque histology between symptomatic and asymptomatic patients have been widely accepted. Whether there is a heterogeneity of cells between symptomatic and asymptomatic plaques remains largely unclear. To reveal the potential heterogeneity within different plaques, which may contribute to different stroke incidences, we obtained the scRNA-seq data from symptomatic and asymptomatic patients and identified eight cell types present in plaques. Further analysis of endothelial cells (ECs) revealed three distinct EC subpopulations appeared to be endowed with specific biological functions such as antigen processing and presentation, cell adhesion, and smooth muscle cell proliferation. Of note, the differentially expressed genes of the EC 2 subpopulation showed that the genes involved in cell adhesion were up-regulated in asymptomatic plaques compared to symptomatic plaques. Integrating the data of intraplaque haemorrhage and plaque stability, the 5th top-enriched biological process was cell adhesion in the stable or non-haemorrhaged plaques compared to unstable plaques or haemorrhaged plaques. Among these cell adhesion-related genes, the intersection gene AOC3 may play a vital role in plaque haemorrhage and plaque stability. Targeting cell adhesion and the specialized genes may provide potential new therapeutic directions to prevent asymptomatic patients from stroke.

The annual burden of severe acute respiratory infection (SARI) is enormous, and environmental factors may have a vital role in respiratory infections. This study aimed to investigate the potential effects of the atmospheric environment on SARI. A time-series analysis was performed on the relationship between atmospheric environment and 136,989 SARI cases by distributed lag non-linear model. Wind speed, PM10, PM2.5, O3, and CO exhibited differential effects at a range of lag times or exposure ranges. Air pressure, temperature, and diurnal temperature range showed risk effects in the full range. The lag effect of high pollution was stronger, appeared earlier, and lasted longer than that of low pollution. Most environmental factors had a certain non-linear lag relationship with SARI. Low wind speed and high air pollution may be increasing risk factors for SARI.

Under the current epidemic of the coronavirus disease of 2019 (COVID-19), there is a need to distinguish the differences between the laboratory examinations of COVID-19-infected patients, tumor patients with fever, and those with normal fever patients. We aimed to investigate the temperature of tumor patients with different tumor burdens, stages, and cancer types.We recruited 3 groups of patients to this study: fever patients with malignant tumors, ordinary fever patients, and confirmed cases of COVID-19, with 31, 55, and 28 cases in each group, respectively.The levels of leukocytes and neutrophils were the highest among non-tumor patients, and the count of COVID-19 was the lowest, with a P value of 0.000. Among the leukocytosis group, non-tumor patients had the highest proportion (43.6%), while that of COVID-19 was only 3.6% (P=0.000). Similarly, there were significant differences in the grading of neutrophils, where most of the infected patients were in the normal group and the P value was 0.000. The lymphocyte count of the tumor group was significantly reduced, with an average of (0.97±0.66) ×109/L (P=0.004). In the lymphocyte grades, most of the infected patients were the normal group (71.4%), while tumor patients in the lymphocytopenia group accounted for 63.1% (P=0.006). There were also significant differences in the neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio (NLR) (P=0.006). There was a significant difference in temperature between different tumor burden groups (P=0.014).The normal fever group had the highest count of leukocyte and neutrophils, whereas the infected group had the lowest relative count. The NLR was the lowest in the infected group. The NLR was higher in the bigger tumor load group.

Since the pandemic of coronavirus disease-19 (COVID-19), the incidence of influenza has decreased significantly, but there are still few reports in the short period before and after the pandemic period. This study aimed to explore influenza activity and dynamic changes before and during the pandemic.A total of 1 324 357 influenza-like illness (ILI) cases were reported under the ILI surveillance network from January 1, 2018, to September 5, 2021, in Nanjing, of which 16 158 cases were detected in a laboratory. Differences in ILI and influenza were conducted with the χThe number of ILI cases accounted for 8.97% of outpatient and emergency department visits. The influenza-positive ratio (IPR) was 7.84% in ILI cases. During the COVID-19 pandemic, ILI% and IPR dropped by 6.03% and 11.83% on average, respectively. Besides this, IPR rose slightly in Week 30-35 of 2021. Not only differences in gender, age, and employment status, but also the circulating strains had changed from type A to B through the COVID-19 pandemic.The level of influenza activity was severely affected by COVID-19, but it seems that it is inevitable to be vigilant against the co-circulation in the future.

The ability to transmit quantum states over long distances is a fundamental requirement of the quantum internet and is reliant upon quantum repeaters. Quantum repeaters involve entangled photon sources that emit and deliver photonic entangled states at high rates and quantum memories that can temporarily store quantum states. Improvement of the entanglement distribution rate is essential for quantum repeaters, and multiplexing is expected to be a breakthrough. However, limited studies exist on multiplexed photon sources and their coupling with a multiplexed quantum memory. Here, we demonstrate the storing of a frequency-multiplexed two-photon source at telecommunication wavelengths in a quantum memory accepting visible wavelengths via wavelength conversion after 10-km distribution. To achieve this, quantum systems are connected via wavelength conversion with a frequency stabilization system and a noise reduction system. The developed system was stably operated for more than 42 h. Acidification can seriously affect the growth of tea trees and the yield and quality of tea leaves. In this study, we analyzed the effects of acidification on the physicochemical properties, microorganisms and metabolites of tea rhizosphere soils with different pH values, and the results showed that with the increase of soil pH, the organic matter content, cation exchange capacity, microbial biomass carbon, microbial biomass nitrogen, microbial respiration intensity, bacterial number and actinomyces number in tea rhizosphere soil all showed an increasing trend, while the fungi number decreased. The results of soil metabolite analysis showed that 2376, 2377 and 2359 metabolites were detected in tea rhizosphere soil with pH values of 3.29, 4.74 and 5.32, respectively, and the number of similar compounds reached 2331, accounting for more than 98%. The results of soil metabolite content analysis showed that with the increase of soil pH, the total contents of metabolite of tea rhizosphere soil increased significantly. The results of correlation analysis between physicochemical indexes of soil and microorganisms and soil metabolites showed that physicochemical indexes of soil and microorganisms were significantly correlated with 221 soil metabolites, among which 55 were significantly positively correlated and 166 were significantly negatively correlated. Based on correlation interaction network analysis, 59 characteristic compounds were obtained and divided into 22 categories, among which 7 categories compounds showed a significant increasing trend with the increase of soil pH, while the other 15 categories compounds showed the opposite trend. Based on the functional analysis of characteristic metabolites, this study found that with the increase of soil pH in tea rhizosphere, the diversity and number of soil microorganisms increased, and the cyclic ability of C and N of tea rhizosphere soil was enhanced, which in turn might lead to the enhancement of resistance of tea tree and promote the growth of tea tree.

Precision spectroscopy contributed significantly to the development of quantum mechanics in its early stages. In the twenty-first century, precision spectroscopy has played an important role in several fields, including fundamental physics, precision measurement, environmental monitoring, and medical diagnostics. An optical frequency comb is indispensable in determining the frequency axis in precision spectroscopy and it is useful as a light source for spectroscopy. Dual-comb spectroscopy uses two frequency combs with slightly different repetition rates and has the potential to surpass conventional Fourier-transform infrared spectrometers. The resolution of dual-comb spectroscopy is limited by the frequency spacing of the comb components, that is, the repetition rate of the comb. We demonstrate dual-comb spectroscopy in the visible-wavelength region using wavelength-converted frequency combs from Er-doped fiber combs. The repetition rates of the combs are relatively low at 19.8 MHz, resulting in relatively high resolution in the dual-comb spectroscopy. The observed spectral shape in dual-comb spectroscopy agrees well with the fitting result based on the hyperfine structure of molecular iodine. The realized dual-comb spectroscopy using wavelength-converted Er-doped fiber combs is reliable (maintenance free) and applicable in other experiments at visible wavelengths.

BackgroundThere is a lack of data on the efficacy of oral Azvudine in Coronavirus Disease treatment. This study aimed to assess the association between Azvudine treatment and clinical outcomes in a cohort of patients infected with the SARS-CoV-2 Omicron variant.MethodsThis is a retrospective study conducted in two mobile cabin hospitals. All consecutive patients with a diagnosis of COVID-19 admitted from August to October 2022 were included in the study. Linear regression models and Cox proportional hazards models were used to assess the association between Azvudine treatment and time to obtain the first negative nucleic acid test results.ResultsA total of 207 patients were analyzed, of whom 166 patients (80.2%) received Azvudine treatment after hospitalization, and the rest did not. Linear regression models showed that Azvudine treatment was associated with reduced time to obtain the first negative nucleic acid test results after adjusting for age and gender [mean difference = −1.658; 95% CI: −2.772 to −0.544, P = 0.0039]. The multivariable Cox analysis conforms to the results from the linear regression model (hazard ratio = 1.461; 95% CI: 1.01 to 2.11, P = 0.044).ConclusionAzvudine treatment was associated with reduced virus shedding time. Further studies are needed to confirm our findings.

A computational scheme was used to screen physical solvents for CO2 pre-combustion capture by integrating the commercial NIST database, an in-house computational database, chem-informatics, and molecular modeling. A commercially available screened hydrophobic solvent, diethyl sebacate, was identified from the screening with favorable physical properties and promising absorption performance. The promising performance to use diethyl sebacate in CO2 pre-combustion capture has also been confirmed from experiments. Water loading in diethyl sebacate is very low, and therefore, water is kept with H2 in the gas stream. The favorable CO2 interaction with diethyl sebacate and the intermediate solvent free volume fraction leads to both high CO2 solubility and high CO2/H2 solubility selectivity in diethyl sebacate. An in-house NETL computational database was built to characterize CO2, H2, N2, and H2O interactions with 202 different chemical functional groups. It was found that 13% of the functional groups belong to the strong interaction category with the CO2 interaction energy between -15 and -21 kJ/mol; 62% of the functional groups interact intermediately with CO2 (-8 to -15 kJ/mol). The remaining 25% of functional groups interact weakly with CO2 (below -8 kJ/mol). In addition, calculations show that CO2 interactions with the functional groups are stronger than N2 and H2 interactions but are weaker than H2O interactions. The CO2 and H2O interactions with the same functional groups exhibit a very strong linear positive correlation coefficient of 0.92. The relationship between CO2 and H2 gas solubilities and solvent fractional free volume (FFV) has been systematically studied for seven solvents at 298.2 K. A skewed bell-shaped relation was obtained between CO2 solubility and solvent FFV. When an organic compound has a density approximately 10% lower than its density at 298.2 K and 1 bar, it exhibits the highest CO2 loading at that specific solvent density and FFV. Note that the solvent densities were varied using simulations, which are difficult to be obtained from the experiment. In contrast, H2 solubility results exhibit an almost perfect positive linear correlation with the solvent FFV. The theoretical maximum and minimum physical CO2 solubilities in any organic compound at 298.2 K were estimated to be 11 and 0.4 mol/MPa L, respectively. An examination of 182 experimental CO2 physical solubility data and 29 simulated CO2 physical solubilities shows that all the CO2 physical solubility data are within the maximum and minimum with only a few exceptions. Finally, simulations suggest that in order to develop physical solvents with both high CO2 solubility and high CO2/H2 solubility selectivity, the solvents should contain functional groups which are available to interact strongly with CO2 while minimizing FFV.

In the engineering applications, the distribution of objects is mostly random. Therefore, scattering analysis of randomly distributed objects has been one of the important problems in broadband electromagnetic calculation field. To resolve the problem, the Asymptotic Waveform Evaluation technique in conjunction with Monte Carlo Method is presented. First, the stochastic distribution is modeled by the Monte Carlo Method, and then the Asymptotic Waveform Evaluation technique using Padé approximation is utilized to achieve the Radar Cross Section at a wide frequency band. Numerical results show that the Asymptotic Waveform Evaluation technique can solve the random distributed object problems efficiently and accurately.

In this study, sheep manure fertilizers with different dosages were used for five consecutive years to treat acidified tea plantation soils, and the effects of sheep manure fertilizer on soil pH value, nitrogen transformation, and tea yield and quality were analyzed. The results showed that soil pH value showed an increasing trend after a continuous use of sheep manure fertilizer from 2018 to 2022. After the use of low dosage of sheep manure fertilizer (6 t/hm2–15 t/hm2), tea yield, the content of tea quality indicators (tea polyphenols, theanine, amino acid, and caffeine) and soil ammonium nitrogen content, ammoniating bacteria number, ammoniating intensity, urease activity and protease activity showed increasing trends and were significantly and positively correlated to soil pH value, while the related indexes showed increasing and then decreasing trends after the use of high dosage of sheep manure fertilizer (18 t/hm2). Secondly, the nitrate nitrogen content, nitrifying bacteria number, nitrifying intensity, nitrate reductase activity, and nitrite reductase activity showed decreasing trends after the use of low dosage of sheep manure fertilizer and showed significant negative correlations with soil pH value, while the related indexes showed decreasing trends after the use of high dosage of sheep manure and then increased. The results of principal component and interaction analysis showed that the effects of sheep manure fertilizers with different dosages on tea yield and quality were mainly based on the transformation ability of ammonium nitrogen and nitrate nitrogen in the soil, and the strong transformation ability of ammonium nitrogen and the high ammonium nitrogen content in the soil were conducive to the improvement of tea yield and quality, and vice versa. The results of topsis comprehensive evaluation and analysis showed that the most influential effect on the fertilization effect was the ammonium nitrogen content in the soil and long-term treatment with 15 t/hm2 of sheep manure fertilizer had the highest proximity to the best fertilization effect. This study provided an important practical basis for the remediation and fertilizer management in acidified tea plantation soils.

A trace ratio optimization problem over the Stiefel manifold is investigated from the perspectives of both theory and numerical computations. At least three special cases of the problem have arisen from Fisher linear discriminant analysis, canonical correlation analysis, and unbalanced Procrustes problem, respectively. Necessary conditions in the form of nonlinear eigenvalue problem with eigenvector dependency are established and a numerical method based on the self-consistent field (SCF) iteration is designed and proved to be always convergent. As an application to multi-view subspace learning, a new framework and its instantiated concrete models are proposed and demonstrated on real world data sets. Numerical results show that the efficiency of the proposed numerical methods and effectiveness of the new multi-view subspace learning models.

Periocular infantile hemangioma (pIH) is associated with a risk of vision loss and requires urgent medical intervention. We evaluated the outcomes of the comprehensive management of 44 pIH patients (aged 2-6 months) with superficial (n = 11), deep (n = 15), and mixed (n = 18) subtypes, treated with a standard propranolol dose (2 mg kg -1 d -1 ) without any obvious side effects. Obvious and slight improvements were observed in 70.5% and 29.5% of patients, respectively. Obvious improvement was found in 96.3% of patients 3 months or younger but only 29.4% of patients older than 3 months ( P = 0.036) after 4 weeks of treatment. Thirteen patients demonstrated slight improvement and were treated with an increased propranolol dose (3 mg kg -1 d -1 ) in combination with corticosteroid injections or plastic surgery, which led to good outcomes. The patients were followed up for 12 to 18 months, with no cases of amblyopia or ametropia. Oral propranolol was effective in the treatment of pIH. Earlier propranolol use was associated with better outcomes. An increased propranolol dose combined with corticosteroid injections or plastic surgery is appropriate for patients with propranolol resistance.

This data set contains data and Matlab code to produce components of figure 3 and 4. The data set contains calculated response parameters from tentative PNs and LNs to familiar and novel odors. The Matlab codes compare the response differences to familiar and novel odor before and after familiarization process.

This data was used to produce the article "Novelty detection in early olfactory processing of the honey bee, Apis mellifera." This data set contains the raw time stamps from extracellular recordings and time stamps of stimuli. These time stamps are contained in a Matlab file. The accompanying Python code analyzes these time stamps and classify the extracellular units into tentative projection neurons and local interneurons. The results of this analysis are presented in figure 2 and 5.

Head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) is the most common malignant tumor of the head and neck, and the prognosis of patients is poor due to chemotherapeutic resistance. Interestingly, patients with HNSCC induced by human papillomavirus (HPV) infection are more sensitive to chemotherapy and display a better prognosis than HPV-negative patients. The biological relevance of HPV infection and the mechanism underlying chemosensitivity to cisplatin remain unknown. Herein, SERPINB3 is identified as an important target for regulation of cisplatin sensitivity by HPV-E6/E7 in HNSCC. Downregulation of SERPINB3 inhibits cisplatin-induced DNA damage repair and enhances the cytotoxicity of cisplatin. In detail, decreasing SERPINB3 expression reduces the USP1-mediated deubiquitination of FANCD2-FANCI in the Fanconi anemia pathway, thereby interfering with cisplatin-induced DNA interstrand crosslinks repair and further contributing to HNSCC cell apoptosis. To translate this finding, pH-responsive nanoparticles are used to deliver SERPINB3 small interfering RNA in combination with cisplatin, and this treatment successfully reverses cisplatin chemotherapeutic resistance in a patient-derived xenograft model from HPV-negative HNSCC. Taken together, these findings suggest that targeting SERPINB3 based on HPV-positive HNSCC is a potential strategy to overcome cisplatin resistance in HPV-negative HNSCC and improves the prognosis of this disease.

Objective Carotid body tumors (CBTs) are benign but challenging. This study compared outcomes of 3 techniques of the surgical treatment of CBTs. Study Design This retrospective observational study was conducted from April 2013 to March 2019. The 38 patients enrolled in the study had primary tumors, including 1 with bilateral tumors and another with adrenal gland pheochromocytoma. We collected data on age, sex, size of tumor, Shamblin classification, treatment, blood loss, operative time, hospital stay, complications, and recurrence. Statistical analyses were performed using IBM SPSS Statistics version 20 software. Results Twenty-four patients were male, and 12 were female, and they ranged in age from 11 to 71 years. Cases were assigned to Shamblin groups I (n = 6), II (n = 19), and III (n = 14). Tumor size ranged from 2.0 × 2.0 cm to 5.0 × 6.0 cm. Eleven CBTs underwent blunt dissection (BD), 20 underwent BD plus resection of external carotid artery division plus vessels of encapsulation with allograft dermal matrix (BD + RECA + VE), and 8 tumors underwent surgical resection of tumors plus common carotid artery–internal carotid artery artificial vascular reconstruction (SR +C-IAVR). No perioperative death or stroke occurred. There was a significant difference between Shamblin groups I, II, and III in terms of the size of the tumor, type of treatment used, blood loss, operative time, hospital stay, and complications. Six patients had mandibular branch facial nerve transient paresis; 7 patients had hypoglossal nerve dysfunction; 3 patients had Horner syndrome; and dysphasia occurred in 2 patients. The patients were seen in follow-up for 16 to 45 months, and 1 recurrence was observed. Conclusions Three surgical techniques—BD, BD + RECA + VE, and SR + C-IAVR—are safe and feasible for the treatment of CBTs according to Shamblin classifications.

Background Atherogenic index of plasma (AIP) as a newly discovered blood lipid parameter was shown to be strongly correlated with coronary artery disease (CAD). However, the blood lipid levels changed with age, so we speculated that the correlation between AIP and CAD was also affected by age. Methods A retrospective study was performed on male patients with confirmed or suspected CAD who underwent coronary angiography (CAG) from July 2017 to March 2021. Patients were divided into younger, middle early, middle late, and elderly groups. Patients in each age group were further divided into the non-coronary artery disease (n-CAD) and CAD subgroups according to the CAG diagnostic results. The relationship between blood lipid parameters and CAD was assessed in each age group. Results Age-dependent changes of blood lipid levels were mainly found in CAD patients but not in n-CAD patients. With increased age, the levels of triglyceride, total cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) and AIP were gradually decreased, whereas high-density lipoprotein cholesterol concentration was increased in CAD patients. Multivariate logistic regression analyses showed that AIP was an independent risk factor for CAD in middle early (OR 2.601; CI 1.160–5.832, P = 0.02) and middle late age group (OR 2.707, CI 1.201–6.100, P = 0.016), but not in the younger and elderly groups. LDL-C was an independent risk factor for CAD in all age groups. The areas under curve of AIP for detecting CAD in the middle early and middle late age groups were not higher than that of other blood lipid parameters. Conclusion Although this was a single-center study for males only, the correlation between AIP level and CAD risk was age-dependent. AIP was an independent risk factor for CAD in the middle-aged groups. However, the predictive value of AIP for detecting CAD was not better than that of the traditional blood lipid parameters such as LDL-C.

Diabetes-induced cardiomyopathy is characterized by myocardial fibrosis as a main pathology. In-depth study of cardiac heterogeneity and cell-to-cell interactions will help to reveal the pathogenesis of diabetic myocardial fibrosis and provide potential targets for the treatment of this disease. Here, we insighted into the intercellular communication drivers underlying myocardial fibrosis in mouse heart with high-fat-diet (HFD)/streptozotocin (STZ)-induced diabetes at single-cell resolution. Intercellular and protein-protein interaction networks of fibroblasts and macrophages, endothelial cells, as well as fibroblasts and epicardial cells reveal critical changes in ligand-receptor interactions such as Pdgf(s)-Pdgfra and Efemp1-Egfr, which promote the development of a profibrotic microenvironment during diabetes progression and confirm that specific inhibition of Pdgfra axis can significantly improve diabetic myocardial fibrosis. We further identified the phenotypically distinct Hrchi and Postnhi fibroblast subpopulations that are associated with pathological extracellular matrix remodeling, of which Hrchi fibroblasts are the most profibrogenic under diabetic conditions. Finally, we validated the role of Itgb1 hub gene mediated intercellular communication drivers of diabetic myocardial fibrosis in Hrchi fibroblasts, and confirmed the result by AAV9-mediated Itgb1 knockdown in the heart of diabetic mice. In summary, cardiac cell mapping provides novel insights into intercellular communication drivers underlying pathological extracellular matrix remodeling during diabetic myocardial fibrosis.

According to the current situation of domestic transportation, this paper identifies and analyzes the characteristics and causes of accidents in ro-ro operation of dangerous goods in port. Combined with the quantitative risk assessment of accident consequences, this paper emphatically analyzes mutual safety influence with the surrounding environment. Based on that, safety design for dangerous goods ro-ro terminal engineering is demanded. The research results may serve as a reference for improving the inherent safety of dangerous goods ro-ro terminal engineering.

SR-T100 gel, containing solamargine extracted from Solanum undatum (synonym: Solanum incanum), had good therapeutic effects on actinic keratosis (AK) in human and ultraviolet B-induced papilloma in mice. This study aimed to investigate the immunohistochemical changes in the human skin after SR-T100 treatment. An immunohistochemical study was performed and the changes in photocarcinogenesis and photoaging markers after 16-week SR-T100 gel treatment were documented. SR-T100 gel treatment for 16 weeks resulted in complete remission in nine AK lesions and partial remission in four AK lesions. SR-T100 gel abolished the expression of mutant p53 and SOX2 and restored the expression of NOTCH1. Additionally, SR-T100 gel improved wrinkling in human skin, while restoring the expression of lamin B1 and increasing synthesis of new elastic fibers. SR-T100 gel had therapeutic effects on photocarcinogenesis and photoaging of photodamaged skin with AK.

Circular RNA_0000429 (circ_0000429) is an identified circular RNA (circRNA) that is correlated with cancer progression. However, the role of circ_0000429 in NSCLC remains unknown. In the present study, we aimed to investigate the function of circ_0000429 in NSCLC and the underlying mechanism.Methods: The expression patterns of circ_0000429 were determined using qRT-PCR in NSCLC samples and cell lines. The subcellular distribution of circ_0000429 in NSCLC cells was analyzed by fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH). Cell proliferation was examined utilizing the CCK-8 assay. Cell migration and invasion were evaluated using the transwell assay. We used the bioinformatics software TargetScan and miRanda to predict circRNA–miRNA and miRNA–mRNA interactions.Results: Our results showed that circ_0000429 expressions were significantly upregulated in NSCLC tissues and cell lines. Knockdown of circ_0000429 significantly inhibited the cell proliferation, migration, and invasion of NSCLC cells in vitro. Furthermore, we demonstrated that circ_0000429 acted as a sponge to absorb microRNA-1197 (miR-1197) and promoted MADD expression.Conclusion: Collectively, our results demonstrated that circ_0000429 exhibited a carcinogenic role by sponging miR-1197 and regulating CMADD expression in NSCLC. These findings provided evidence for understanding the role of circ_0000429 in NSCLC tumorigenesis.Keywords: circRNA_0000429, miRNA-1197, MADD, NSCLC
