Slika Hansa Holbeina Tijelo mrtvoga Krista u grobu imala je snažan utjecaj na refleksiju o mogućnosti uskrsnuća u kasnom djelu Fjodora Mihajloviča Dostojevskoga. Tom se slikom posve izravno i intenzivno bave likovi romana Idiot, a rasprava o Holbeinovoj slici u djelu Dostojevskoga najčešće se ograničava na taj roman. Usuprot tomu, autor u članku istražuje mogućnost da Dostojevski u romanu Idiot nije zaključio raspravu o Holbeinovoj slici. Usporedna analiza tekstova dvaju romana ostavlja mogućnost da je rasprava o mrtvom tijelu starca Zosime u romanu Braća Karamazovi zapravo nastavak rasprave Dostojevskoga o Holbeinovoj slici Tijelo mrtvoga Krista u grobu., Hans Holbein’s painting The Body of the Dead Christ in the Tomb greatly influenced Dostoevsky’s reflections on the possibility of the Resurrection in his late works. The painting is the subject of direct and intense reflection in the novel The Idiot, and the discussion on Holbein’s Dead Christ is usually limited to this novel. In the article, however, the author examines the hypothesis that Dostoevsky did not conclude his discussion on Holbein’s Dead Christ in the Tomb in The Idiot. A comparative analysis of the two novels seems to allow for the possibility that Dostoevsky’s discussion on Elder Zosima’s dead body is in fact a continuation of Dostoevsky’s discussion on Holbein’s Dead Christ.

U članku se daje ocrt Schellingova poimanje objave; ono nije svedeno na teološki shvaćen pojam objave, nego ga pokazuje u širini autorove filozofske misli, od njegovih filozofskih početaka preko filozofije slobode pa do pozitivne filozofije. Pojam objave pokazuje se u svojoj tijesnoj povezanosti s poimanjem slobode – Božje i čovječje – i s mogućnošću i potrebom da se promišlja umu onostrani Apsolut a da nije »ukonačen« u imanenciju uma i njegova umovanja. Objava je shvaćena kao slobodna povijesna manifestacija Apsoluta, ponuda i apel čovječjoj slobodi i čovjekovu djelovanju u povijesti; ona je također moment života Boga koji sam ispostavlja stvorenje i ide mu ususret te ga vodi k cilju: da on, Bog, bude sve u svemu., Im Artikel werden die tragenden Konturen des Offenbarungsbegriffs im Denken Schellings hervorgehoben. Der Begriff hat den christlichen Hintergrund, wird aber von Schelling nicht auf konfessionelle Ebene festgelegt oder reduziert. Schelling nimmt ihn als Realität in der geschichtlichen Erfahrung der Menschheit; als solcher ist er interessant für die Philosophie. Das Thema der Offenbarung markiert bereits die erste Periode des Schellingschen Denkens: mit ihm wird die erkenntnismässige Entdeckung der Unbedingtheit und Autonomie der menschlichen Freiheit verbunden und zwar im Zusammenhang mit dem deutsch-aufklärerischen Verständnis der christlichen Religion als Erzieherin des Menschengeschlechts in moralibus. In der zweiten Periode, die man mit Schellings Freiheitsschrift beginnen und mit den Weltaltern fortsetzen lässt, wird der Offenbarungsbegriff im Zusammenhang mit der Problematik des Bösen, der Freiheit und der Schöpfung behandelt. Er signalisiert die Freiheit des Absoluten und seiner schöpferischen Wirkung und Präsenz in Natur und (Religions)Geschichte der Menschheit – allerdings wird das Böse als notwendiges Moment der Offenbarung verstanden. In der letzten Periode seines Denkens (Philosophie der Mythologie und der Offenbarung) behandelt Schelling die Offenbarung (vor allem Offenbarung in Christo) als freie geschichtliche Manifestation des Absoluten, die zugleich als Angebot und Apel an seine freie Annahme von Seiten des Menschen verstanden und dargestellt wird. Die positive Philosophie Schellings ist keineswegs eine verkappte christliche Theologie; mit einem gewissen Recht könnte man sie vielleicht als Philosophie der christlichen Religion nennen. Ihr geht es darum, die Inhalte der christlichen Religion durchzudenken, ohne damit den Interessen der Kirchen Dienst in ihren Anliegen erweisen zu wollen, aber auch ohne mit den Interessen der Religionskritik gehemmt zu sein. Die Philosophie der Offenbarung versucht Leben und Wirken Gottes zu beschreiben, der seiner Schöpfung zuvorkommt und sie zur Vollendung zu führen beabsichtigt – auf dass Gott alles in allem wird.

Premda je po vlastitom priznanju svoj cjelokupni teološki rad usmjerio prema interpretaciji religijskih simbola kako bi postali razumljivi svim ljudima, Paul Tillich sa svojom teorijom simbola odnosno religijskog jezika izazvao je brojne polemike, stoga ćemo nastojati prikazati njene bitne odrednice. Uže područje istraživanja nekoliko je njegovih ključnih eseja, a pored toga metoda proučavanja odnosi se i na analizu relevantnih ideja njegovih glavnih kritičara. Kritičkom analizom autor je došao do zaključka da je Tillich prije svega želio prevladati pogubne posljedice ‘doslovnog’ i ‘nadnaravnog’ tumačenja vjerskih učenja, zbog čega je zagovarao filozofiju religije koja bi pomogla osnaživanju značenja simbola i rasvjetljavanju simboličke prirode glavnih vjerskih učenja. Pritom je posebno naglašavao da se simboli nipošto ne smiju poistovjećivati s onim što simboliziraju, kako ne bi došlo do njihova demoniziranja, odnosno do tog da se apsolutiziraju te tako postanu sami sebi svrhom i predmetom idolopokloničkog obožavanja; nego da kao ‘sredstvo’ ukazivanja na Sveto moraju sadržavati i svoju vlastitu negaciju, a što je zapravo afirmacija one stvarnosti koja nam u svojoj biti ostaje do kraja nespoznatljiva. U tom smislu simbol raspetog Krista na križu najviše odgovara sadržaju i značenju vjere, a kao konačni kriterij svih religijskih simbola predstavlja glavnog čuvara protiv njihova demoniziranja., Although Paul Tillich, as he himself confessed, directed his whole theological work towards an interpretation of religious symbols so that all people could understand them, he caused a great deal of polemics with his theory of symbols, or religious language. The focus of the research is on several of his key essays and the study methodology also includes an analysis of relevant ideas of his most prominent critics. Through critical analysis, the author concluded that Tillich primarily wanted to overcome the devastating consequences of ‘literal’ and ‘supernatural’ interpretation of religious teachings, which is why he advocated a philosophy of religion that would help strengthen the significance of the symbols and shed light on the symbolic nature of the main religious teachings. In doing so, he especially emphasized that the symbols must never be identified with what they symbolize, so they wouldn’t be demonized or turned into the absolutes, and in that way become their own purpose and an object of idolatry. Instead, as an ‘instrument’ of pointing to the Holy, the symbols must also include their own negation, which is in fact the affirmation of the reality that in its essence remains unknowable to us in its entirety. In this sense, the symbol of the Christ crucified on the cross meets the content and meaning of faith to the greatest extent, and as the final criterion of all religious symbols, it represents the main guardian against their demonization.
