BackgroundChild sexual abuse (CSA) has become a focal point for lawmakers, law enforcement, and mental health professionals. With high prevalence rates around the world and far-reaching, often chronic, individual, and societal implications, CSA and its leading risk factor, pedophilia, have been well investigated. This has led to a wide range of clinical tools and actuarial instruments for diagnosis and risk assessment regarding CSA. However, the neurobiological underpinnings of pedosexual behavior, specifically regarding hands-on pedophilic offenders (PO), remain elusive. Such biomarkers for PO individuals could potentially improve the early detection of high-risk PO individuals and enhance efforts to prevent future CSA.AimTo use machine learning and MRI data to identify PO individuals.MethodsFrom a single-center male cohort of 14 PO individuals and 15 matched healthy control (HC) individuals, we acquired diffusion tensor imaging data (anisotropy, diffusivity, and fiber tracking) in literature-based regions of interest (prefrontal cortex, anterior cingulate cortex, amygdala, and corpus callosum). We trained a linear support vector machine to discriminate between PO and HC individuals using these WM microstructure data. Post hoc, we investigated the PO model decision scores with respect to sociodemographic (age, education, and IQ) and forensic characteristics (psychopathy, sexual deviance, and future risk of sexual violence) in the PO subpopulation. We assessed model specificity in an external cohort of 53 HC individuals.ResultsThe classifier discriminated PO from HC individuals with a balanced accuracy of 75.5% (sensitivity = 64.3%, specificity = 86.7%, P5000 = 0.018) and an out-of-sample specificity to correctly identify HC individuals of 94.3%. The predictive brain pattern contained bilateral fractional anisotropy in the anterior cingulate cortex, diffusivity in the left amygdala, and structural prefrontal cortex-amygdala connectivity in both hemispheres. This brain pattern was associated with the number of previous child victims, the current stance on sexuality, and the professionally assessed risk of future sexual violent reoffending.ConclusionAberrant white matter microstructure in the prefronto-temporo-limbic circuit could be a potential neurobiological correlate for PO individuals at high-risk of reoffending with CSA. Although preliminary and exploratory at this point, our findings highlight the general potential of MRI-based biomarkers and particularly WM microstructure patterns for future CSA risk assessment and preventive efforts.

We present the multi-band dual triply irreducible local expansion (D-TRILEX) approach to interacting electronic systems and discuss its numerical implementation. This method is designed for a self-consistent description of multi-orbital systems that can also have several atoms in the unit cell. The current implementation of the D-TRILEX approach is able to account for the frequency- and channel-dependent long-ranged electronic interactions. We show that our method is accurate when applied to small multi-band systems such as the Hubbard-Kanamori dimer. Calculations for the extended Hubbard, the two-orbital Hubbard-Kanamori, and the bilayer Hubbard models are also discussed.

This paper provides an overview development and the real estate cadastre maintenance in the Republic of Serbia. The State has recognized that an effective national property rights system is prerequisite for economic growth and broadening economic prosperity through the land and housing development, wise stewardship of national resources, increased use of property, increased property tax collection and efficient land markets. The State and International Development Association concluded the Development Credit for the Real Estate Cadastre and Registration Project in Serbia signing it in 2004. This paper also provides an overview of the existing records of real estates. It points out the advantages of the Real Estate Cadastre as the unified records of real estates and presents the current situation in the creation of the Real Estate Cadastre in Serbia.

Novel therapies for patients with recurrent gliomas are urgently needed, given their dismal prognosis,. Oncolytic measles virus strains derived from the Edmonston vaccine lineage are an attractive option for glioma therapy, because of their significant antitumor effect (Phuong et al, 2003). MV-CEA is an Edmonston lineage measles virus strain engineered to express the marker protein carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA), the levels of which can be monitored by a simple blood test and serve as a correlate of viral gene expression. In support of a clinical trial administering MV-CEA intracerebrally to patients with recurrent gliomas, we assessed the neurotoxicity of MV-CEA in five adult male rhesus macaques (Macaca mulatta).The animals were stereotactically administered either vehicle (n=1), 2|[times]|105 (n=2), or 2|[times]|106 (n=2) TCID50 MV-CEA in the right frontal lobe in two injections five days apart. Macaques were intensely monitored through clinical observations for neurotoxic effects, body weights, temperatures, CBC, CEA, clinical chemistries, coagulation, complement levels, immunoglobulin, measles antibody titers, viremia, and shedding (buccal swabs). Additionally, cisterna magna spinal taps were performed on day 9 post first article administration, and samples were analyzed for protein, glucose, cell differential, and presence of MV-CEA. After the first 3 month close follow-up period, the macaques entered a long-term observational period for an additional 9 months. MRIs were performed between 4 and 5 months post administration to assess for subclinical neurotoxicity. At the time of this abstract submission, and with a median follow up of 11 months, macaques have been remarkably tolerant of the treatment. There was no clinical or biochemical evidence of toxicity, including lack of neurological symptoms, fever, or other systemic symptoms and lack of immunosuppression. QRT- PCR analysis of blood, buccal swabs, or CSF was negative for MV- CEA at all time points. Vero cell overlays of CSF cells and supernatant have been negative for measles-related pathology. There was no CEA detection in serum or CSF at any time point. MRIs were negative for imaging abnormalities and showed no signs of encephalitis. Conclusions: Our results support the safety of CNS administration of MV-CEA. A clinical trial in patients with recurrent gliomas is planned to be activated later this year.

Of 60 male patients with gonorrhoeic urethritis treated with a single oral dose of 900 mg. of Rimactan (Rifamycin) 90% were cured. The failure rate of 10% correlates well with other publications. The drug is suitable for the treatment of patients who have failed to respond to penicillin or who are allergic to it.

The interactions of soluble and insoluble immunoglobulin G (IgG) complexes with macromolecular rheumatoid factor (RF) and platelets were examined in an in vitro system permitting observation of platelet activities which may contribute to rheumatoid inflammation. Studies of the aggregation phenomenon by the nephalometric technique and by selective sedimentation of 51Cr-labelled platelets revealed no aggregation by platelets exposed to heat aggregated IgG (HAIgG) complexes or their RF precipitates in a plasma test system. Release of serotonin was demonstrated by the increasing radioactivity of platelet supernates to 45 min by 14C-serotonin labelled platelets exposed to insoluble IgG heat aggregates. Significantly less release was shown with saline, native IgG, and soluble IgG complexes. When RF was added to soluble HAIgG complexes, the resulting precipitate caused significantly higher release than controls. No concomitant release of the lysosomal enzyme beta-glucuronidase was detected. Thus, although soluble complexes do not cause significant release of biologically active amines, conversion of soluble complexes to insoluble immune precipitates by RF is associated with this activity which is independent of platelet aggregation and/or lyosomal enzyme release in our test system. Release of biologically active amines from platelets exposed to insoluble complexes may be important in the initiation and propagation of inflammation in rheumatoid arthritis.

The inflammatory process occurring in the joints of patients with rheumatoid arthritis is usually characterized by synovial effusions involving moderate to large numbers of neutrophils and soluble and/or insoluble immunoglobulin G complexes“. Our studies utilize 51CrCl3 labelled and unlabelled complexes to determine immunoglobulin G complex interactions with rheumatoid factor and neutrophils and a radiolabelled glucose assay of neutrophil hexose monophosphate shunt activity to further explore these interactions which may be an important contributor to the inflammatory process occurring in the joints of patients with rheumatoid arthritis1.
