PURPOSE: To evaluate the frequency of abdominal computed tomography (CT) findings in patients with coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) and interrogate the relationship between abdominal CT findings and patient demographic features, clinical findings, and laboratory test results as well as the CT atherosclerosis score in the abdominal aorta. METHODS: This study was designed as a multicenter retrospective study. The abdominal CT findings of 1.181 patients with positive abdominal symptoms from 26 tertiary medical centers with a positive polymerase chain-reaction test for severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 were reviewed. The frequency of ischemic and non-ischemic CT findings as well as the association between CT findings, clinical features, and abdominal aortic calcific atherosclerosis score (AA-CAS) were recorded. RESULTS: Ischemic and non-ischemic abdominal CT findings were detected in 240 (20.3%) and 328 (27.7%) patients, respectively. In 147 patients (12.4%), intra-abdominal malignancy was present. The most frequent ischemic abdominal CT findings were bowel wall thickening (n = 120; 10.2%) and perivascular infiltration (n = 40; 3.4%). As for non-ischemic findings, colitis (n = 91; 7.7%) and small bowel inflammation (n = 73; 6.2%) constituted the most frequent disease processes. The duration of hospital stay was found to be higher in patients with abdominal CT findings than in patients without any positive findings (13.8 ± 13 vs. 10.4 ± 12.8 days, P < 0.001). The frequency of abdominal CT findings was significantly higher in patients who did not survive the infection than in patients who were discharged after recovery (41.7% vs. 27.4%, P < 0.001). Increased AA-CAS was found to be associated with a higher risk of ischemic conditions in abdominal CT examinations. CONCLUSION: Abdominal symptoms in patients with COVID-19 are usually associated with positive CT findings. The presence of ischemic findings on CT correlates with poor COVID-19 outcomes. A high AA-CAS is associated with abdominal ischemic findings in patients with COVID-19.

Enerji, bugün dünyanın en önemli sorunlarından biridir. Fosil enerji kaynakları tükeniyor, bu nedenle dünya yeni enerji kaynakları arayışı içindedir. Rüzgar, eski zamanlarda sulama ve un değirmenlerinde kullanılan bir yenilenebilir enerji kaynağıdır. Teknolojinin ilerlemesiyle birlikte rüzgar enerjisinden elektrik üretilmeye başlanmıştır. Bu çalışmada rüzgar enerjisi ve türbinleri tanıtılmış, kanat profilleri ve tasarım faktörleri incelenmiştir. Evrimsel yapı optimizasyonu, boyut, şekil ve topoloji optimizasyonu için basit ve etkili bir yöntem olarak kullanılabilir. Bu yöntem, yapı tasarımını geliştirme ve en uygun hale getirme konusunda oldukça yeni bir araçtır. Kirişlerin en uygun tasarımları araştırıldı ve QBlade programı kullanılarak gerçekleştirildi. Yapıdaki gerilme dağılımı optimize edildi ve kafes benzeri tasarımlar elde edildi. Bu nihai tasarımlarda, başlangıç hacmine göre %30-40'a varan oranlarda azalma görüldü. Topoloji optimizasyonunun önemi ve amacı üzerinde duruldu ve yapılan çalışmaların sonuçları sunuldu. Bu çalışmanın ana amacı, en uygun tasarımları arayarak yenilenebilir enerji kaynaklarının verimliliğini artırmaktır.

Evcil hayvanların sağlığını optimize etmek için kullanılan fonksiyonel katkıların rolü önem kazandıkça fonksiyonel gıda ve katkılar köpek sahipleri arasında popülerlik kazanmaktadır. Biyoaktif fonksiyonel özellikleri nedeniyle sık kullanılan bitkilerden biri de Yucca schidigera’dır. Yucca ekstraktı insan, at, çiftlik hayvanları ve kedi-köpek diyetlerinde uzun süredir yem katkı maddesi olarak kullanılmaktadır. Yucca tozunun veya ekstraktının ana bileşenleri antioksidan, antienflamatuar, antiviral, antiprotozoal, antimutajenik, antikanser ve kolesterol azaltımına sahip steroidal saponinler, polisakkaritler ve polifenollerdir. Yucca sağlık ve performansa olumlu etkileri, besin madde yararlanımı artırma, dışkı kokusunu azaltma, amonyak ve hidrojen sülfit gibi bazı zararlı uçucu bileşiklerin giderilmesi amacıyla köpeklerde yem katkı maddesi olarak değerlendirilir. Yaygın kullanılan bir katkı maddesi olmasına rağmen Yucca’nın köpeklerdeki etkileri hakkında çok az çalışma yapılmıştır. Ayrıca, dışkı kokusunu azaltıcı etkileri dışında köpekler üzerindeki etkileri bilinmemektedir. Bu derlemede Yucca schidigera’nın köpeklerde sağlık, sindirilebilirlik, dışkı kokusu, bağırsak gazı oluşumu, kan parametreleri, oksidasyon ve dışkı mikrobiyotasına olan etkilerinin tartışılarak açıklanması hedeflenmiştir.

Bu çalışma, farklı ekim zamanının şeker mısırı (Zea mays saccharata sturt) çeşitlerinde tane verimi ve kalite özelliklerine etkisini belirlemek amacıyla, 2010-2012 yılları arasında Diyarbakır’da yürütülmüştür. Denemeler tesadüf bloklarında bölünmüş parseller deneme desenine göre 3 tekerrürlü olarak kurulmuştur. Denemelerde, ana parselleri ekim zamanı, alt parselleri ise çeşitler oluşturmuştur. Çalışma 8 farklı ekim zamanı (1 Nisan, 15 Nisan,1 Mayıs, 15 Mayıs, 1 Haziran, 15 Haziran, 1 Temmuz, 15 Temmuz) ve 5 şeker mısırı çeşidi (Merit, Jübile, Lumina, Vega ve Sakarya Kompozit) kullanılarak yürütülmüştür. Üç yıllık sonuçlara göre en yüksek taze tane verimi (963.9kg da-1) Vega çeşidinin 15 Nisan ve 1 Mayıs ekimlerinden elde edilmiştir. Suda çözünür kuru madde yönünden değerlendirildiğinde Vega çeşidinin şeker oranı yüksek, Sakarya Kompozit çeşidinin ise düşük olduğu belirlenmiştir. Tüketici talepleri bakımından önemli bir parametre olan *b(sarılık) değerinin en yüksek olduğu çeşit Lumina'dır. Diyarbakır koşullarında taze tane üretimi ve bazı kalite kriterleri dikkate alındığında şeker mısırı yetiştiriciliği için en uygun ekim zamanın 15 Nisan-01 Mayıs en uygun çeşidin ise Vega çeşidi olduğu belirlenmiştir.

Bilimsel araştırma çalışmaları günümüzde her geçen gün daha da önemli hale gelmektedir. Araştırma sonuçlarının sağlık ve ekonomi gibi pek çok alanda kullanılması nedeniyle bilimsel çalışmaların dikkatli bir şekilde yapılması son derece önem arz etmektedir. Bu süreç, bilime önemli katkılar sağlayacağı düşünülen araştırma konusunun belirlenmesi ile başlayıp birçok aşamalardan geçmektedir. Örneklem seçimi ve güç analizi de bu önemli aşamalardan birisidir. Bu derlemede amacımız örneklem seçimi, örnekleme yöntemleri ve güç analizi hakkında bilgiler vermektir.

This study was carried out to examine the effect of adding potato chips waste, which is a by-product of the potato processing industry, on silage quality, as an easily soluble carbohydrate source, to the alfalfa (Medicago sativa L.) plant, which has a high buffering capacity and is therefore difficult to ensilage. In the study, alfalfa (Medicago sativa) harvested at the 10% flowering point was used as the plant material. Four different groups were formed by adding the silage groups prepared in the study, alfalfa plant control (without additives), and potato chips waste at the rates of 0.5%, 1% and 2% on a wet weight basis to the alfalfa plants. The silages were opened at the end of the 60-day fermentation period and raw nutrient compositions and fermentation products were identified. When the effects of the silages prepared by adding different levels of chip waste to alfalfa plant on the nutrient value were examined, the differences between the groups in terms of dry matter (DM), crude ash (CA), acid detergent fiber (ADF) and neutral detergent fiber (NDF) content of the silages obtained from the study were statistically significant. While it was not significant in terms of CP content, the differences between the silage groups were found to be statistically significant. In the study, when the pH, ammonia nitrogen (NH3-N), carbon dioxide (CO2) production and total yeast mold values of the fermentation properties of the silages were examined, decreases were observed due to the addition of chips compared to the control group. When the total lactic acid bacteria (LAB) values of the silages were examined, an increase was observed after the addition of 1% chips. As a result, when all the parameters were examined, it was determined that the silages prepared by adding 1% chips waste had positive effects on silage fermentation.

Ameloblastomas are locally invasive and benign odontogenic tumors with a high long-term recurrence rate. These lesions can cause serious anomalies in the facial area and alveolar bones, leading deformity and deterioration of functions. Wide local excision and reconstruction are required for the surgical treatment of these tumors. Aggressive resection effectively eliminates tumors; however, this approach may cause various problems that need reconstruction to restore the oral functions. In the present case report, the rehabilitation of surgically reconstructed partially edentulous mandible with iliac crest graft after ameloblastoma resection with an implant-supported “Toronto Prosthesis” is presented. In the surgical procedure, mandible was partially resected and simultaneous iliac bone graft was applied. Then, four dental implants were inserted into the reconstructed bone and implant-supported Toronto prosthesis was fabricated. The patient was satisfied with the final result of the treatment and recurrence was not observed during the 2-year clinical follow-up.

Objective: The aim of the study was to investigate the relationship between 1RM calf raise, countermovement jump (CMJ), and functional hop performance with foot posture index (FPI). Methods: Twenty-six volleyball athletes were evaluated in this study. Foot posture index was evaluated with six-item criteria; talar head palpation, curves above and below the malleoli, calcaneus inversion/eversion, talonavicular congruence, medial longitudinal arch high, and forefoot abduction/adduction. Single hop, triple hop, crossover hop for distances, medial side triple hop, 90° medial rotation hop, single-leg vertical jump, 6m. timed hop, 1RM calf raise, and CMJ were measured in this study.Results: All measurements were tested on both right and left side. Significant differences were found in single hop (p = 0.016), triple hop (p = 0.005), medial side triple hop (p = 0.001), medial rotation hop (p = 0.020) in single leg vertical jump, and FPI for right and left sides (p < 0.001, p < 0.005). There were significant differences when comparing the limb symmetry indexes (LSI%) calculated from hop tests. When the correlations between FPI and hop tests were found significant, correlation and no significant correlations were found between left side and FPI. Conclusion: This study has shown that young female volleyball players may produce low hop performances due to the asymmetric structure relationship FPI scores. Background Prolonged hospitalization, prolonged neutropenia, and immunosuppressive treatments increase bloodstream infections in hematological patients. Identifying risk factors for carbapenem-resistant Klebsiella pneumonia (CRKP) infection will shed light on controlling the spread of CRKP. Our retrospective study aimed to determine the clinical features, antimicrobial susceptibility, and mortality risk factors of patients who developed CRKP in patients followed up for hematological cancer in the Izmir University of Economics Haematology Department. Material and Methods 19,170 blood-urine-sputum cultures were delivered from the patients, 1,595 (8.31%) of which presented growth. CRKP comprised 302 (1.57%) of such growth cases. The study included 72 patients with hematological malignancy who presented CRKP growth in 302 cultures obtained during the neutropenic fever period. Results The mean age of patients was 51 (18-75 years). Acute myeloid leukemia was the most common disease (n: 26, 36.11%). As to the antibiotic sensitivity of CRKP, 44 patients (61.1%) were colistin sensitive, 28 patients (38.9%) were colistin-resistant, 47 patients (65.3%) were tigecycline sensitive/medium sensitivity, 25 patients (34.7%) were tigecycline resistant, there was no statistically significant difference between antibiotic sensitivities and survival. Conclusions Today, early detection of CRKP colonization in high-risk hematological patients, taking rectal culture, and if the patient presents rectal colonization of CRKP or had CRKP bacteremia during prior hospitalizations, early initiation of treatment with antibiotics acting against CRKP during NPF would significantly reduce mortality.

Bu araştırma 2020 yılında ilan edilen pandemi ile birlikte eğitimde ve gündelik hayatta meydana gelen değişikliklerin nitelikli eğitimi ne yönde etkilediğini sosyolojik boyutlarıyla anlamak amacıyla yapılmıştır. Türkiye illerinden Niğde’de çeşitli özel ve devlet okullarında öğrenim gören öğrenciler ve görev yapan öğretmenler ile tamamlanan bu araştırmada nitel araştırma desenlerinden fenomenoloji kullanılmıştır. Verilerin tümdengelim ile betimsel analiz edilerek yorumlandığı bu araştırmanın veri setini oluşturmak üzere amaçlı bir çalışma grubu seçilmiştir. Bu doğrultuda özel ve devlet okullarında görev yapan öğretmen, öğrenci ve idareci ile kayıt dışı görüşmeler yapılmış, bunlar içerisinden 25 öğrenci ve 14 öğretmen araştırma grubunu oluşturacak şekilde belirlenmiştir. Görüşmelerin ana hatlarını başta uzaktan eğitimin gündelik yaşama etkisi ve alışkanlıkların değişmesi olmak üzere öğretmen ve öğrencilerin eğitim süreçlerini etkileyen dijital okuryazarlık, eğitimde fırsat eşitsizliği ve esnek zaman algısı gibi konular oluşturmaktadır. Uzaktan eğitime geçişle birlikte hem öğretmen hem öğrenci hem de velilerin hayatlarında büyük değişiklikler meydana geldiğinin tespit edildiği araştırma sonuçları, özel okulda okuyan öğrenciler ile devlet okulunda okuyan öğrencilerin uzaktan eğitim dönemini farklı sosyo-ekonomik sınıflara mensup olmalarından kaynaklı farklı deneyimlediklerini göstermektedir.

Bu araştırmanın amacı rahim, yumurtalık veyahut her iki kanser tanısını almış kadınlarda öz şefkat kavramını nitel araştırmalarda yararlanılan desenlerinden biri olan fenomenoloji deseni kapsamında araştırmaktır. Bu tanıyı almış olan hastaların hastalığa bakış açılarını kendi gözlerinden anlamayı, hastalığı nasıl deneyimlediklerini kendi perspektiflerinden incelemeyi, tanıyı aldıktan sonra kendilerine gösterdikleri şefkatin ne yönlü değiştiğini bulmayı, kendilerine bu dönemde nasıl davrandıklarını ve çevrelerinin bu dönemde onlara nasıl davrandıklarını incelemeyi öz şefkat kavramı üzerinden araştırmak amaçlanmıştır. Çalışmanın örneklemini Türkiye’den toplam 7 katılımcı oluşturmuştur. Araştırmanın verileri, araştırmacı tarafından hazırlanan 15 soru kullanılarak görüşme yöntemi ile elde edilmiştir. Veriler, verilerden elde edilen kavramlara göre kodlama esasları doğrultusunda analiz edilmiştir. Görüşmelerden elde edilen verilerin analizi sonucunda; iyileşmeye yönelik inançta çevre etkisi, özde duyar değişimi, insanlığın ortak deneyimleri inancı, farkındalıkla anda kalma ve yaşam değişiminden kaynaklı yaşama yansıyan güçlükler olmak üzere beş tema belirlenmiştir. Katılımcıların kanser tanısı almadan önceki yaşantılarına göre kendilerine gösterdikleri şefkat düzeyi arasında değişim gözlenmiştir.

Aim: To compare fetal and maternal outcomes between elective and emergency cesarean sections in patients with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM). Material and Methods: Data from patients with GDM delivered by cesarean section between January 2015 and July 2020 were retrospectively reviewed. Patients were grouped according to whether the cesarean section was elective (n=129) or emergency (n=158). Results: The cesarean section rate was higher in patients with GDM (31.16%) than in patients without GDM. There were more patients with inadequate maternal care in the emergency cesarean section group than in the elective cesarean section group (p=0.003). One neonate in the elective group and six in the emergency C/S group died, but the rates of neonatal mortality were similar (p=0.198). Sinema filmlerindeki mesaj izleyicisi üzerindeki temsil gücünü aktive etmektedir. Bu gücün engelli kadınlarla ilgili toplumsal algıyı nasıl şekillendirdiğini anlayabilmek için sinema filmlerinin sosyal hizmet bakış açısıyla incelenmesi gereklidir. Engellilik ve toplumsal cinsiyet dezavantajlarına sahip olup kesişimsel ayrımcılığa uğrayan engelli kadınlar sinemada çoğunlukla negatif imajlar ile tasvir edilmektedir. Bu çalışmanın amacı Türk Sineması’nda yer alan engelli kadın karakterlerin sunumunu ahlaki, tıbbi, sosyal ve insan hakları engellilik modelleri çerçevesinde inceleyerek filmlerdeki imajlarını sosyal hizmet bakış açısı ile ortaya çıkarmaktır. Böylece sosyal hizmetin güçlendirici yaklaşımının sinema aracılığıyla engelli kadınları nasıl güçlendirilebileceğini tartışmaktır. Eleştirel söylem analizindeki Siegfried Jäger’in yaklaşımının yöntem olarak kullanıldığı araştırmada baş rolünde engelli kadın karakter sunumu olan 8 film analiz edilmiştir. Böylece hem söylemin yapısal analizine hem de dönemlere odaklanan bir analiz yapılmıştır. Filmlerin içerikleri sekiz tema öbeği altında toplanmıştır: Kurban edilme, kurbanlaştırma; cinsiyetsizleştirme veya kadın olduğunu vurgulama, erkeksilik, cinsel şiddet mağduru olma; muhtaç, çaresiz, savunmasız olma, desteğe ihtiyaç duyma; kısıtlama, aşırı koruyup kollanma; duyarsız kalma, dışlanma, aşağılama; saklı, sessiz, pasif; bağımlı olma; negatif imajlarla mücadele. Çalışmada Yeşilçam Sineması’nda tıbbi ve ahlaki model ağırlıklı bakış açısıyla engelli kadın temsilinin hasta, muhtaç, bağımlı ve cinsiyet rollerinden uzak tasvir edildiği tespit edilmiştir. 2000 Sonrası Türk Sineması’nda ise sosyal modelin hâkim olduğu, topluma adapte olmaya çalışan ancak iş, eğitim ve aile kurma noktasında toplumsal bariyerler ile karşılaşan bir temsil söz konusudur. İnsan hakları modeline ise çok az vurgu yapılmıştır.

A newly designed smart self-healing epoxy coating system comprised of modified halloysite nanotubes (HNTs) having capping is proposed for corrosion protection of steel. In the first step, HNTs were loaded with 8-hydroxyquinoline (8HQ), used as a corrosion inhibitor. Then the HNTs were sealed/capped using cobalt (II), aiming for an efficient and controlled release of the loaded inhibitor. The smart coatings were developed by reinforcing loaded HNTs into the epoxy matrix. The structural, thermal, mechanical, and electrochemical properties of capped modified HNTs and smart coatings were studied using various techniques. UV–Vis analysis depicted that the capping of the metal-inhibitor complex was decomposed at acidic pH resulting in a controlled release of the loaded inhibitor into HNTs. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopic (EIS) analysis of blank and smart coatings demonstrated that the low-frequency impedance modulus of smart coatings is 109 Ω.cm2 for 20 days compared to blank coatings (105 Ω.cm2), reflecting their excellent corrosion inhibition performance. The superior corrosion protection properties of these smart coatings can be ascribed to the controlled and efficient release of the loaded inhibitor from the capped HNTs. Finally, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) analysis of the steel substrate after the corrosion analysis revealed the adsorption of 8HQ on the steel surface, confirming the formation of iron complex due to the release of loaded inhibitor. This work demonstrated the adeptness of 8HQ in mitigating the corrosion due to the controlled and effective release of the inhibitor from capped HNTs because of dissociation of the metal-inhibitor complex (Co-8HQ).Kindly check and confirm the authors names are correctly identified.Checked Graphical abstract

Aim The psychometric properties of the 1-minute sit-to-stand (1STS) test have not been investigated in patients with chronic heart failure (CHF). The aim of this study was to evaluate test-retest reliability, construct validity, and minimal detectable change of the 1STS test and to investigate the physiological response to the 1STS test in patients with CHF.Method Forty-three (43) patients with CHF were included. Demographic and clinical features were recorded. To investigate test-retest reliability, participants performed two 1STS tests on the same day. The correlations between the 1STS test and the 6-minute walk test (6MWT), functional class, pulmonary function, quadri-ceps muscle strength, and physical activity were investigated for validity. The physiological responses and symptom perception were assessed before and after both the 1STS test and 6MWT.Results Excellent test-retest reliability was found for the 1STS test, with an intraclass correlation of 0.932 (95% confidence interval 0.874-0.963). The minimal detectable change of the 1STST test was 3.7 repetitions. The 1STS test was correlated with 6MWT distance, age, functional class, pulmonary function, quadriceps muscle strength, and physical activity (p,0.05). The 1STS test showed similar changes to the 6MWT in physiological responses and symptom perception (p.0.05), except for leg fatigue (p=0.02).Conclusions The 1STS test is reliable and valid in evaluating functional exercise capacity in patients with CHF. The 1STS test reveals similar cardiac demand to the 6MWT. The 1STS test may be considered an option when traditional tests are impractical in terms of space and time.

Purpose: The aim of the study was to investigate the effect of electromyography biofeedback (EMG-BF), which in addition to conventional electrophysical therapy (EPT) commonly used in the symptomatic treatment of carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS), on motor parameters such as strength and reaction time and symptomatic functional parameters such as pain and function of the upper extremity. Materials and Methods: Patients diagnosed with CTS were divided into two groups. The first group was the conventional EPT group only (control group, n=46 hands), and the second group was the group that received EMG-BF in addition to the conventional EPT treatment (research group, n=42 hands). The pain (VAS), hand grip strength (HGS), audio-visual reaction time (ART-VRT), and upper extremity disability (Quick DASH) of patients in both groups were assessed before and after the treatment program. Results: After treatment, VRT, ART, HGS, and Quick DASH were significantly better in favor of the EPT +EMG- BF group. Before treatment, resting state (VASr), mobile state (VASm), and night state (VASn) VAS values were similar between the two groups. After training, the VAS -values were better in favor of the EPT +EMG- BF –group. Conclusion: Although EPT applications provide effective results in the rehabilitation of CTS, EMG-BF applications together with EPT applications provide more meaningful results in the rehabilitation process.

Purpose: The triglyceride-glucose index (TyG) is an important parameter that reflects insulin resistance and its use has increased recently. Its relationship with cardiovascular diseases has been shown in previous studies. Our aim was to investigate the association of residual SYNTAX score (rSS) with TyG index in patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) undergoing primary percutaneous coronary intervention. Materials and Methods: A total of 663 STEMI patients who underwent primary percutaneous coronary intervention were included in the study. The patients were divided into 2 groups according to the TyG index level as high and low. The cut-off value for the TyG index was determined as 9.61 by ROC analysis. Coronary artery disease severity was calculated for both groups besides baseline clinical and demographic variables. Results: A total of 281 patients were evaluated in the high TyG index group and 386 patients in the low TyG index group. A rSS above 8 was considered high. The proportion of patients with high rSS in the increased TyG index group was found to be significantly higher than in the other group [114 (40.6) vs. 54 (14.0)]. In addition, higher TyG index is determined to be the independent predictor of higher rSS in logistic regression analysis. Conclusion: High TyG index had a strong association with rSS and higher TyG index was an independent predictor of increased rSS in patients with STEMI

Bu araştırmanın amacı, futsal oyuncularında tekrarlı sprint antrenmanının bazı biyokimyasal parametrelere akut etkisinin belirlenmesidir. Araştırmaya, Muş Alparslan Üniversitesi futsal takımındaki 10 erkek sporcu (yaş: 21,50±1,84 yıl) gönüllü olarak katılmıştır. Araştırma, ön test-son test kontrol grupsuz deneysel desen ile tasarlanmıştır. Sporculardan tekrarlı sprint antrenmanı öncesinde ve sonrasında 5 cc venöz kan örneği alınarak biyokimyasal analizler için numuneler 4000 rpm devirde 10 dk santrifüj edilmiştir. Bu işlemden sonra serum kan örnekleri Architect ci16200 TM analizöründe fotometrik yöntemlerle analiz edilmiştir. Verilerin normallik düzeyi Shapiro-Wilk testi ile belirlenmiştir. Normal dağılıma sahip verilerin ön test-son test değerlerinin karşılaştırılmasında paired sample t testi, normallik varsayımını sağlamayanlarda ise Wilcoxon işaretli sıralar testi kullanılmıştır. Araştırma bulgularına göre futsal oyuncularının glukoz ve kreatinin değerinde ön test ile son testler arasında anlamlı bir fark belirlenmiştir (p0,05). Glukoz ve kreatinin parametrelerinde futsal oyuncularının son test değerlerinin ön test değerlerine göre yüksek olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Sonuç olarak futsal oyuncularına uygulanan tekrarlı sprint antrenmanının glukoz ve kreatinin biyokimyasal parametreleri üzerinde akut etkisinin olduğu belirlenmiştir. Futsal oyuncularında biyokimyasal parametrelerin etkisini ve önemini anlamak, antrenörlere sportif performans ve verimli antrenman programlarının hazırlanması için yardımcı olabilir.

Elektrik yapım işi temel olarak; üretilen ve dağıtıma hazır elektriğin, hane ve işletmelere dağıtılması için gerekli olan alt yapının inşasını ve bu konuda önceden tesis edilmiş altyapıların modernizasyonunu ve büyütülmesini konu edinmiş bir alandır. Dolayısı ile ülkenin tüm büyüme ve kalkınma planlarında elektrik yapım işi sektörü ve üreteceği hizmet, stratejik bir öneme sahiptir. Elektrik yapım işi sektörü, ülkemiz mevzuatına göre çok tehlikeli işler sınıfında yer almaktadır. Her yıl pek çok ölümlü ve ağır yaralanmalı iş kazası meydana gelmektedir. Bu sebeple sektör içinde yer alan firmaların oluşturacakları risk değerlendirmeleri ve bu doğrultuda tehlikelerin giderilmesi oldukça önemlidir. Bu sürecin belirli bir plan dahilinde işletilmesi, hem firmanın zaman, iş gücü ve para gibi kısıtlı kaynaklarının verimli kullanılmasına hem de aciliyet arz eden tehlikelerin daha hızlı giderilmesine olanak sağlayacaktır. Bu çalışmada; sektörde referans alınmış bir firmanın Fine-Kinney metodu kullanılarak hazırlanmış olan risk değerlendirmesi baz alınarak, risklerin önceliklendirilmesi işlemi yapılmıştır. Bu veriler bulanık mantık yöntemiyle değerlendirilmiş ve bu iki yöntemin sonuçları karşılaştırılarak, tehlikelerin giderilme planı için karar vericilere, risk önceliklendirme sonucu sunulmuştur.

Kayrak taşı, belirgin anizotropisi nedeniyle diğer yapı taşlarından ayrılır Bir kayrak taşının genel karakterini hem mineralojisi hem de fiziko-mekanik özellikleri belirlemektedir. Bu çalışmanın amacı Karaisalı bölgesinde bulunan kayrak taşının yapı taşı olarak kullanılabilirliğini araştırmaktır. Bu amaçla bölgede jeolojik etütler yapılmış ve Tümenli ve Maraşlı bölgelerinden temsili numuneler toplanmıştır. Numuneler üzerinde TSE ve uluslararası standartlara göre petrografik, mineralojik (XRD), kimyasal (XRF) analizler ve fiziko-mekanik analizler (tek eksenli basınç dayanımı, Shore ve Mohs sertliği, ağırlıkça su emme, porozite) yapılmıştır. Elde edilen analiz sonuçları Karaisalı'da Tümenli ve Maraşlı yöresinde bulunan kayrak taşlarının, hem iç, hem dış, hem de çatı kaplamasında yapı taşı olarak kullanılabileceğini göstermiştir.

The concept of a pair of curves, called as Bertrand partner curves, was introduced by Bertrand in 1850. Bertrand partner curves have been studied widely in the literature from past to present. In this study, we take into account of the concept of Bertrand partner trajectories according to Positional Adapted Frame (PAF) for the particles moving in 3-dimensional Euclidean space. Some characterizations are given for these trajectories with the aid of the PAF elements. Then, we obtain some special cases of these trajectories. Moreover, we provide a numerical example.

Dünya genelinde “engellilik" kavramın tıbbi bakış açısıyla fiziksel bir hastalık gibi incelenmesinin yerini bireyin dezavantajlı fiziksel özelliğinden dolayı toplum içerisinde diğer insanlarla kuracağı ilişkileri inceleyen sosyal bakış açısına bırakmıştır. Dolayısıyla ortaya çıkan engellilik sosyolojisinin son yıllarda Türkiye’de de sosyal bilimler alanında görünürlüğü artmıştır. Bu çalışmada işitme engelli bireylerin ve ailelerinin gündelik yaşamlarında karşılaştıkları sorunlar ve bu sorunlara karşı geliştirdikleri stratejiler engelliliğin sosyolojik bakış açısıyla incelenmiştir. Engellilik türleri arasından işitme engelinin seçilmesindeki temel sebep işitme engeli bireyin duyma, konuşma, anlama, anlatma becerileri üzerinden gündelik yaşamda karşılaşılabilecekleri sorunların hem işitme engelli bireyin kendisinin hem de işitme engelli bireyin aile üyelerinin kendi deneyimleri üzerinden değerlendirmek istenmesidir. Buna bağlı olarak çalışmanın saha kısmı nitel araştırma yöntemi ile fenomenolojik desen kulanılarak yapılmıştır. Kayseri ilinde işitme engelli bireyler ve işitme engelli aileleri ile derinlemesine görüşmeler yapılmış ve MAXQDA programı ile veriler analiz edilmiştir. Araştırma sonucunda eğitim, sağlık gibi sistemsel sorunların yanında iletişim, damga, dışlanma gibi sosyal ve psikolojik sorunlar ile bu sorunlarla baş etme stratejileri olarak da iletişimde alternatifler, aidiyet, bireysel başa çıkma, destek alma/destek olma gibi stratejiler ortaya konmuştur.

The integration of history of science (HOS) into science teaching plays a crucial role to address many shortcomings of traditional science teaching in middle schools, due to its close relationship to the nature of science (NOS) and to its ability to reveal the interconnectedness of science to other disciplines. The purpose of this study is to improve seventh grade students’ course engagement and motivation and their understanding of scientific concepts within the unit of “Force and Motion” through the use of history of science-based stories. The study was conducted according to an action research approach. Five stories based on the history of science were developed and administered by one of the researchers in their 7th grade science class. The iterative reflective practice took place over seven weeks with 15 students who met twice a week for two consecutive forty-minute sessions. Throughout this process, researcher journals, semi-structured interviews and a survey were employed for data collection. Teaching with history of science-based stories was found to be effective for students’ understanding of concepts related to “force and motion.” The results of the study were also positive with respect to the students’ engagement and motivation. Based on the findings, it is suggested that the nature of science should be addressed explicitly through stories in future research.

Mine operations might be viewed as relatively risky in terms of worker safety when compared to other industries. Every year, there are a lot of occupational accidents and near-misses at mining sites. Most of the time, data from these circumstances are recorded, but they are typically not properly utilized. Information gathered from occurrences helps researchers understand how various conditions affect accidents and their frequency. The information obtained from such investigations may provide practical advice on how to prevent happening again. For instance, there are many studies in the literature that analyze mining accidents according to their countries, yearly frequency, work areas, and types of work; however, there isn't a single study that looks at the relationship between meteorological conditions and the seasonality of the accidents. The correlations between seasonal and regional variables, such as temperature, humidity, and pressure, and occupational accidents that occurred in mines with various climatic features, chosen from two different nations, were examined in this study. The findings indicate that there is a strong relationship between the frequency of accidents and the seasons, however this relationship would be weaker if incidents were looked into on a monthly basis. In conclusion, this article demonstrates that temperature and humidity in mining operations during severe weather conditions have a significant impact on occupational accidents.

With the developing technology and increasing population, nanotechnology has started to be used in all areas of life. The use of biosensors, which have an important place in the field of nanotechnology, is increasing day by day. Biosensors can be defined as biological devices that help us interpret the analyte concentration in a sample by converting it into measurable signals. Advantageously, it has both speed and high precision. There are many types of biosensors used in many fields. These; enzymatic, nucleic acid, electrochemical and optical biosensors. All of them can have different components and uses. Biosensors are used especially in early diagnosis of diseases, environment and agriculture, pharmaceutical industry, defense industry and food industry. For example, biosensors are used in the treatment of oncological diseases using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, in the determination of pesticides, which is one of the environmental pollutants, in the potentiometric analysis of glutamate, in the detection of chemical warfare agents and toxic substances. In addition, it is expected that the usage areas of biosensors will become widespread in the future, and they will be used more widely in the early diagnosis of diseases. At this point, the use of biosensors has increased worldwide and has attracted the attention of scientists. In this study, classification of biosensors, application areas, characterization, studies on biosensors, technologies developed and applied for the future are mentioned.

Aim: The aim of this study was to examine self-compassion, temperament types and cognitive flexibility characteristics of individuals residing in Istanbul, Turkey aged between 16 and 85 years who never cheated and who cheated at least once. Material and Method: The sample of this study consists of 93 individuals who never cheated and 83 individuals who cheated at least once, residing in Istanbul, Turkey aged between 16 and 85 years. The sample was selected by using simple random sampling. The sample was administered Sociodemographic Form, Deception Tendency Scale (DTS), Self-Compassion Scale (SCS), Temperament Evaluation of Memphis, Pisa, Paris, San Diego-Autoquestionnaire (TEMPS-A) and Cognitive Flexibility Scale (CFS). First, it was checked whether there was a normal distribution or not. For this, skewness and kurtosis values were checked. In this study, the optimum fluid was determined by using Non-dominated Sorting Genetic Algorithm-II (NSGA-II) within the scope of Organic Rankine Cycles (ORC) low temperature applications. Heat source temperatures are taken as 90, 100 and 110 °C. Fluid optimization was performed by comparing the performance of 8 fluids from 4 different categories under different criteria (dry-R601 and R601a, isentropic-R141b and R123, wet-R152a and R134a, new generations-R1234yf and R1234ze). Objective functions have been established under the parameters of Energy, Exergy, Economy and Environment (4E). In ORC systems, every organic fluid has certain advantages and disadvantages. It is seen that the studies on organic fluid selection meet a single goal from the system performance parameters. However, it has been observed that the turbine power performance is not at the desired level due to the required evaporator capacity of the fluid, which performs well in terms of thermal efficiency in ORC systems. Therefore, it is necessary to determine the percentage of organic fluid that can be used by optimizing it under different objective functions. In this study, the optimum fluid was determined for ORCs operating under 90, 100 and 110 °C heat source temperatures by evaluating different objective functions together.

Kent yaşamının insan üzerinde oluşturduğu stres ve yorgunluk, kent içinde oluşturulan rekreasyon alanlarıyla kısmen azaltılabilir. Bu alanlarda kullanılacak bitkilerin estetik, ekolojik ve işlevsel etkileri ile sahip oldukları zehirli maddelere dikkat edilmesi gerekir. Bu maddeler bitkilerin farklı organlarında ya da tamamında bulunabilir. Bu maddelerin tüketilmesi ciddi sağlık sorunlarına neden olabilir. Bu çalışma 2021 Haziran-Temmuz ayları arasında Kütahya, Simav ilçe merkezinde mevcut açık-yeşil alanlardaki zehirli bitki türü kullanımını ortaya koymak için gerçekleştirilmiştir. Rastgele seçilen 10 farklı alandaki bitki türleri, zehirli bitki türleri ve bitki grupları yerinde incelenmiştir. Analizler sonucunda; çalışma alanında 30 familya içinde 65 bitki türü saptanmıştır. Zehirli bitki türü oranı % 44.61, zehirli bitki türlerinin % 21.54’ü ağaç, % 10.77’si çalı, % 7.69’u ağaççık ve % 1.54 tırmanıcı formda bulunmuştur. Bu bitkilerdeki zehirli maddeler; çiçek, meyve, tohum, yaprak, kök, gövde ve kabuk gibi organlarının içerisindedir. Alanlar içinde en yüksek bitki türü sayısı 53, zehirli bitki tür oranı %50 olmuştur. Zehirli bitki türleri ile ilgili alanda bilgilendirme tabelaları ve sınırlama tespit edilmemiştir.

Objective: To determine the characteristics of patients, mortality-affecting factors and mortality rate in follow-up burn-injured patients in an intensive care setting at a burns treatment centre. Method: The retrospective study was conducted between May and November 2014 at Kocaeli Derince Training and Research Hospital Burn Treatment Centre, Kocaeli, Turkey, and comprised data from January 2008 to January 2013 of in-patients who had been treated at the intensive care unit. The therapy outcomes and the follow-up processes were evaluated. Data was analysed using SPSS 17. Results: Of the 381 patients, 105(27.6%) were females and 276(72.4%) were males. The overall mean age was 28.4±21.1 years. There were 52(13.6%) mortalities, while 329(86.4%) survived. Latent Class and Latent Profile Models are widely used in psychological assessment settings, especially when individual differences are suspected to be related to unobserved class memberships, such as different personality types. This paper provides an easy-to-follow introduction and application of the methodology to the data collected as part of more extensive educational research investigating social-emotional competency profiles of preservice teachers (n=184) who responded to an Emotional Awareness Questionnaire. Suspected that there would be two or more latent emotional awareness sub-groups in the sample, a series of latent profile models was estimated. The results suggested three distinct emotional awareness profiles; namely, introverted, extroverted, and less sensitive to others' emotions, with proportions of 9%, 56%, and 35%, respectively. Subsequent analyses showed that preservice teachers with higher levels of emotionality, sociability, and well-being were more likely to be in the extroverted profile. The findings suggest that nearly half of the teachers in the sample could be expected to possess the most professionally desirable teacher profile. Nonetheless, it was noted that if timely diagnostic and tailored training or intervention programs were available, at least some of the preservice teachers in the less sensitive to others' profiles, and most of the preservice teachers in the introverted profile could be helped to self-observe the way which they tend to identify and regulate their emotions.
