Let $X$ be a finite connected poset, $F$ a field and $I(X,F)$ the incidence algebra of $X$ over $F$. We describe the bijective linear idempotent preservers $\varphi:I(X,F)\to I(X,F)$. Namely, we prove that, whenever $\mathrm{char}(F)\ne 2$, $\varphi$ is either an automorphism or an anti-automorphism of $I(X,F)$. If $\mathrm{char}(F)=2$ and $|F|>2$, then $\varphi$ is a (in general, non-proper) Lie automorphism of $I(X,F)$. Finally, if $F=\mathbb{Z}_2$, then $\varphi$ is the composition of a bijective shift map and a Lie automorphism of $I(X,F)$. Under certain restrictions on the characteristic of $F$ we also obtain descriptions of the bijective linear maps which preserve tripotents and, more generally, $k$-potents of $I(X,F)$ for $k\ge 3$., Comment: Final version published in Linear Algebra and its Applications

AimA series of knowledge has been developed on burnout syndrome in the sports context that has allowed to generate a solid theoretical structure that requires new contributions to delve into those aspects that have been less addressed, as is the case of optimism and resilience when it comes to linking them to the syndrome in top-performance athletes. For this purpose, the Burnout Inventory for Athletes (IBD-r), the Resilience Scale adapted to Spanish, and the Life Orientation Scale-Revised (LOT-R) for optimism were used.MethodsFrom this perspective, the study was approached with 121 Uruguayan athletes who participated in the last Pan-American Games, assuming practically all the subjects who have this level of sport (142) considering gender and type of sport.ResultsThe results indicate that 67% of the sample presents burnout symptoms for the emotional exhaustion dimension, and moderate resilience and optimism. Although there are no significant differences attributable to gender or type of sport, this contribution allows us to continue focusing on future work and further analysis. The type of sport presented statistically significant differences in relation to the personal competence dimension and the type of sport.ConclusionResilience and optimism obtained a clear influence on the occurrence of burnout, in a statistically negative sense, showing themselves as interesting prevention strategies for future lines of research, where it is essential to design interventions that teach emotional skills to manage adversity and prevent burnout.

Chicken meat is often associated withSalmonella entericacontamination worldwide. This study proposes a risk assessment model for human salmonellosis linked to the domestic consumption of chicken meat in the central region of Mexico, incorporating genotypic and phenotypic data. SixS. entericagroups were used, considering the presence of specific virulence genes and multidrug resistance (MDR). Sixteen exposure scenarios were established considering retail point (RP1 = fresh market/butcher shop; RP2 = mini-super/supermarket), transportation, home storage, cooking, and cross-contamination. The model predicted a mean annual salmonellosis cases of 66,754 due to chicken consumption (CI95% 10775-231606). The mean probability of illness (P

In a first objective, we improve our understanding about surjective and bijective bounded linear operators preserving orthogonality from a JB*-algebra $$\mathcal {A}$$ into a JB*-triple E. Among many other conclusions, it is shown that a bounded linear bijection $$T: \mathcal {A}\rightarrow E$$ is orthogonality preserving if, and only if, it is biorthogonality preserving if, and only if, it preserves zero-triple-products in both directions (i.e., $$\{a,b,c\}=0 \Leftrightarrow \{T(a),T(b),T(c)\}=0$$ ). In the second main result, we establish a complete characterization of all one-parameter groups of orthogonality preserving operators on a JB*-algebra.

This article presents the control and virtualisation of a double effect evaporator plant oriented to teaching-learning processes. A virtual process with similar characteristics to a real one is implemented using CAD tools and the Unity 3D graphic engine, with the aim of simulating the behaviour of an industrial process, specifically, a double effect evaporator; this allows the behaviour of the process to be evaluated and control manoeuvres to be implemented without putting the safety of the operator or the plant at risk. The result is an interactive and immersive virtual environment between the user and the industrial process. The dynamic modelling of the double effect evaporator is incorporated in the virtual environment, so that the virtual animation is similar to a real process.

We establish a more precise description of those surjective or bijective continuous linear operators preserving orthogonality between C $$^*$$ -algebras. The new description is applied to determine all uniformly continuous one-parameter semigroups of orthogonality preserving operators on an arbitrary C $$^*$$ -algebra. We prove that given a family $$\{T_t: t\in {\mathbb {R}}_0^{+}\}$$ of orthogonality preserving bounded linear bijections on a general C $$^*$$ -algebra A with $$T_0=Id$$ , if for each $$t\ge 0,$$ we set $$h_t = T_t^{**} (1)$$ and we write $$r_t$$ for the range partial isometry of $$h_t$$ in $$A^{**},$$ and $$S_t$$ stands for the triple isomorphism on A associated with $$T_t$$ satisfying $$h_t^* S_t(x)$$ $$= S_t(x^*)^* h_t$$ , $$h_t S_t(x^*)^* =$$ $$ S_t(x) h_t^*$$ , $$h_t r_t^* S_t(x) =$$ $$S_t(x) r_t^* h_t$$ , and $$T_t(x) = h_t r_t^* S_t(x) = S_t(x) r_t^* h_t, \hbox { for all } x\in A,$$ the following statements are equivalent

Introduction The aim of this study was to explore the views of experts on the use of big data (BD) advanced analytics (i.e: machine learning, deep learning or artificial intelligence techniques) on the identification of frail older patients with non-malignant diseases who could benefit from early palliative care (PC). Methods This descriptive study corresponds to the first round of a Delphi study currently under performance. Participants were asked through a questionnaire survey about the level of agreement regarding i) the use of advanced analytics on specific clinical scenarios and ii) the critical aspects when using these applications on the frame of PC. The sample included professionals from different countries and disciplines with expertise on chronicity, geriatrics and/or PC. Consensus was defined as >70% of subjects agreement. Results At this time, fifteen experts have answered the questionnaire (37.5% of whom invited to participate). 78.6% were women, 71.4% were working in a clinical setting >15 years as physicians (57.1%), nurses (35.7%) and psychologists (7.1%) 80% of them considered that the strategy based on an automatic tool (BD based) combined with front-line healthcare staff is the best way for identification of patients who could benefit from early PC approach. They assessed as ‘very’ and ‘extremely useful’ the use of BD models on research applications, both as a population health management tool (clinical clustering) and as a tool to improve the prediction of an outcome risk. However, the need for clinical validation and the dearth of evidence of practical benefits are the main critical aspects on the implementation of these tools. Conclusions The view of experts can contribute to guide BD applications on advanced stages of illnesses. The consensus about the opportunities and gaps on the implementation of these tools will support clinicians in decision making processes.

Early childhood education is a developmental period in which early symptoms of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) can be observed. This work examines the educational background of 206 children, from the ages of three to five years (109 of them with an ADHD diagnosis and 97 without a clinical diagnosis), by analysing 306 reports from their teachers. The aim of this study is to discover if these educational reports reflect differences in academic performance and behaviour between both groups. The 123 educational goals analysed in the reports have been classified into 15 categories. A nonparametric analysis (Chi square) was performed on each variable to compare ADHD/control groups. Our results claim that ADHD children show more difficulties in different curricular and behavioural aspects like attention, self-regulation, independence, motivation, basic learning, social relationships, motor skills and communication. These reports are useful in identifying children who are at risk of develo...

Background: Visceral Adiposity Index (VAI) has been strongly associated with adipocytokine synthesis, proinflammatory activity, insulin resistance, dyslipidemia, hypertension and atherosclerosis. VAI is a model that includes and correlates anthropometric and metabolic markers and has been proposed as a risk factor index associated with cardiovascular risk in adults. Some studies conducted in pediatric population have extrapolated VAI calculation in order to predict these abnormalities; nonetheless, no adjustment has been done for pediatric ranges in any of the variables included in the formula. The aim of this study was to design a new sex-specific VAI model adjusted for pediatric population. Subjects and methods: Cross-sectional study, 548 children (290 males and 258 females) aged 3-17 years were included for analysis. Eutrophic, apparently healthy children (n = 223) were recruited from 3 public schools located nearby the hospital. Overweight (n = 89) and obese subjects (n = 236) were patients that regularly attend at the Pediatric Obesity Clinic from “Hospital General de México”. Anthropometric evaluation included weight, height, waist circumference (WC). Body mass index (BMI) was calculated and Tg and HDL measured in a 12 hour fasting condition (mMol/L).

We introduce generalized triple homomorphisms between Jordan–Banach triple systems as a concept that extends the notion of generalized homomorphisms between Banach algebras given by K. Jarosz and B. E. Johnson in 1985 and 1987, respectively. We prove that every generalized triple homomorphism between JB*-triples is automatically continuous. When particularized to C*-algebras, we rediscover one of the main theorems established by Johnson. We will also consider generalized triple derivations from a Jordan–Banach triple Einto a Jordan–Banach triple E-module, proving that every generalized triple derivation from a JB*triple Einto itself or into E*is automatically continuous.

We initiate the study of orthogonal forms on a real C$^*$-algebra. Motivated by previous contributions, due to Ylinen, Jajte, Paszkiewicz and Goldstein, we prove that for every continuous orthogonal form $V$ on a commutative real C$^*$-algebra, $A$, there exist functionals $\varphi_1$ and $\varphi_2$ in $A^{*}$ satisfying $$V(x,y) = \varphi_1 (x y) + \varphi_2 (x y^*),$$ for every $x,y$ in $A$. We describe the general form of a (not-necessarily continuous) orthogonality preserving linear map between unital commutative real C$^*$-algebras. As a consequence, we show that every orthogonality preserving linear bijection between unital commutative real C$^*$-algebras is continuous., Comment: To appear in Linear and Multilinear Algebra

FRIDA will be a near infrared imager and integral field spectrograph covering the wavelength range from 0.9 to 2.5 microns. FRIDA will work in two observing modes: direct imaging and integral field spectroscopy. This paper presents the main structure of the FRIDA mechanisms control system. In order to comply with a high level of re-configurability FRIDA will comprise eight cryogenic mechanisms and one room temperature mechanism. Most of these mechanisms require high positioning repeatability to ensure FRIDA fulfills with high astronomical specifications. In order to set up the mechanisms positioning control parameters a set of programs have been developed to perform several tests of mechanisms in both room and cryogenic environments. The embedded control software for most of the FRIDA mechanisms has been developed. A description of some mechanisms tests and the software used for this purpose are presented.

The underwater environment is an extreme environment that requires a process of human adaptation with specific psychophysiological demands to ensure survival and productive activity. From the standpoint of existing models of intelligence, personality and performance, in this explanatory study we have analyzed the contribution of individual differences in explaining the adaptation of military personnel in a stressful environment. Structural equation analysis was employed to verify a model representing the direct effects of psychological variables on individual adaptation to an adverse environment, and we have been able to confirm, during basic military diving courses, the structural relationships among these variables and their ability to predict a third of the variance of a criterion that has been studied very little to date. In this way, we have confirmed in a sample of professionals (N = 575) the direct relationship of emotional adjustment, conscientiousness and general mental ability with underwater adaptation, as well as the inverse relationship of emotional reactivity. These constructs are the psychological basis for working under water, contributing to an improved adaptation to this environment and promoting risk prevention and safety in diving activities.

We prove that every biorthogonality preserving linear surjection from a weakly compact JB∗triple containing no infinite dimensional rank-one summands onto another JB∗-triple is automatically continuous. We also show that every biorthogonality preserving linear surjection between atomic JBW∗triples containing no infinite dimensional rank-one summands is automatically continuous. Consequently, two atomic JBW∗-triples containing no rank-one summands are isomorphic if, and only if, there exists a (non necessarily continuous) biorthogonality preserving linear surjection between them.

We establish a complete description of weakly compact orthogonality preserving operators from a C*-algebra A (or a JB*-algebra) to a JB*-triple E. We prove that any such operator is the sum of a series of mutually orthogonal triple homomorphisms from A** to a certain Peirce-2 subspace of E** multiplied by a mutually orthogonal norm-null sequence in E which enjoy certain operator commutativity relations.

This work shows a descriptive study on infringements, defined as actions penalized by referees, and the different competition categories in youth soccer. It analyzes the frequency of sanctions imposed by the Competition Committee of the Soccer Federation of Murcia (Spain) on players and coaches in the different categories of 11-a-side soccer (under-12, under-14, under-16, and under-18). We test the hypothesis that there are significant differences in the frequency of sanctions imposed on players and coaches in the different categories of competition.

We obtain a complete characterization of all orthogonality preserving operators from a JB *-algebra to a JB *-triple. If T : J → E is a bounded linear operator from a JB *-algebra (respectively, a C *-algebra) to a JB *-triple and h denotes the element T**(1), then T is orthogonality preserving, if and only if, T preserves zero-triple-products, if and only if, there exists a Jordan *-homomorphism [Formula: see text] such that S(x) and h operator commute and T(x) = h•r(h) S(x), for every x ∈ J, where r(h) is the range tripotent of h, [Formula: see text] is the Peirce-2 subspace associated to r(h) and •r(h) is the natural product making [Formula: see text] a JB *-algebra. This characterization culminates the description of all orthogonality preserving operators between C *-algebras and JB *-algebras and generalizes all the previously known results in this line of study.

Reasons and motives for sanctions imposed on players and coaches in youth soccer were examined to evaluate frequency and type of infraction by competition category (Under 12, 13–14, 15–16, and 17–18 years). Analysis of the first 30% of competitions yielded 1,202 sanctions of 340 teams with 6,120 players and 340 coaches. For older groups, the number of sanctions for aggressive conduct by the players was significantly higher; frequency of sanctions imposed on the coaches for disrespect also was significantly higher, and those for aggression were higher although not significantly so; the number of sanctions for disrespect by players was not different. Transgressions of the game rules recorded by officials are a valid representation of a pedagogical factor important for coaches and players. Implementing informative programs for knowledge and conduct of rules is suggested.

We study orthogonality preserving operators between C ∗ -algebras, JB ∗ -algebras and JB ∗ -triples. Let T : A → E be an orthogonality preserving bounded linear operator from a C ∗ -algebra to a JB ∗ -triple satisfying that T ∗ ∗ ( 1 ) = d is a von Neumann regular element. Then T ( A ) ⊆ E 2 ∗ ∗ ( r ( d ) ) , every element in T ( A ) and d operator commute in the JB ∗ -algebra E 2 ∗ ∗ ( r ( d ) ) , and there exists a triple homomorphism S : A → E 2 ∗ ∗ ( r ( d ) ) , such that T = L ( d , r ( d ) ) S , where r ( d ) denotes the range tripotent of d in E ∗ ∗ . An analogous result for A being a JB ∗ -algebra is also obtained. When T : A → B is an operator between two C ∗ -algebras, we show that, denoting h = T ∗ ∗ ( 1 ) then, T orthogonality preserving if and only if there exists a triple homomorphism S : A → B ∗ ∗ satisfying h ∗ S ( z ) = S ( z ∗ ) ∗ h , h S ( z ∗ ) ∗ = S ( z ) h ∗ , and T ( z ) = L ( h , r ( h ) ) ( S ( z ) ) = 1 2 ( h r ( h ) ∗ S ( z ) + S ( z ) r ( h ) ∗ h ) . This allows us to prove that a bounded linear operator between two C ∗ -algebras is orthogonality preserving if and only if it preserves zero-triple-products.

In this work a brief summary of FIS-CRM (Fuzzy Interrelations and Synonymy Conceptual Representation Model) and its application to intelligent e-mail management are presented. FzMail tool is based on a soft computing methodology for automatic classification of the mailbox into a fuzzy and hierarchical structure of groups of “conceptually related” messages. FIS-CRM is used to conceptually represent messages and it is also used in the process carried out to deal with the incoming messages in order to keep the achieved conceptual organization. The aim is to make an optimum exploitation of the concepts contained in these messages possible. Therefore, we apply Fuzzy Deformable Prototypes for the document clusters representation. The effectiveness of the method has been proved by applying these techniques in an IR system. The documents considered are composed by a set of e-mail messages produced by some distribution lists about different subjects and languages.

Intelligence and personality traits are currently considered effective predictors of human behavior and job performance. However, there are few studies about their relevance in the underwater environment. Data from a sample of military personnel performing scuba diving courses were analyzed with regression techniques, testing the contribution of individual differences and ascertaining the incremental validity of the personality in an environment with extreme psychophysical demands. The results confirmed the incremental validity of personality traits (ΔR2 = .20, f2 = .25) over the predictive contribution of general mental ability (ΔR2 = .07, f2 = .08) in divers’ performance. Moreover, personality ($R_L^2$ = .34) also showed a higher validity to predict underwater adaptation than general mental ability ($R_L^2$ = .09). The ROC curve indicated 86% of the maximum possible discrimination power for the prediction of underwater adaptation, AUC = .86, p < .001, 95% CI (.82–.90). These findings confirm the shift and reversal of incremental validity of dispositional traits in the underwater environment and the relevance of personality traits as predictors of an effective response to the changing circumstances of military scuba diving. They also may improve the understanding of the behavioral effects and psychophysiological complications of diving and can also provide guidance for psychological intervention and prevention of risk in this extreme environment.

Although there have been several theoretical efforts in the past to calculate both the best structure of H–H pairs in Y and the total energies as well as electronic structures, there exist no studies of the relation between hydrogen ordering and the shape of the Fermi surface. We use the FLAPW method, as implemented in the Wien2k code, focusing our research on the relation between chain ordering of H, the relaxation of internal coordinates and the electronic properties for hypothetical α -YH1/3 and α -YH2/3. In addition to the relaxed atomic positions in the cell, we obtain information on the negligible role of the H 1s state contribution near E F and the shape of the Fermi surface.

Hydrographic and underway water velocity profiles were measured at the entrance to Concepcion Bay, an equatorward facing embayment in central Chile, in order to illustrate the wind-induced exchange flow. Observations took place over a 25-h period (5–6 January 2002) during the austral summer, which is characterized by upwelling winds in the region. One portion of the observational transect was directly influenced by the wind and the other was protected from such influence by an island. The portion of the transect influenced by wind showed a surface layer, delimited by a pycnocline, moving downwind owing to the direct action of wind stress. This surface transport should have caused an onshore decrease of surface elevation that would drive upwind flow below the surface layer. The portion of the transect protected by the island was influenced by its wake and perhaps forced by a semidiurnal tide. This study is one of the few observational examples of wind-induced flow that documents the wind-induced exchange pattern under weak internal friction (low Ekman number). This pattern consists of downwind flow in an upper layer delimited by the pycnocline and upwind flow below.

The main objective of this work is to improve the quality of the results produced by the Internet search engines. In order to achieve it, the FIS-CRM model (Fuzzy Interrelations and Synonymy based Concept Representation Model) is proposed as a mechanism for representing the concepts (not only terms) contained in any kind of document. This model, based on the vector space model, incorporates a fuzzy readjustment process of the term weights of each document. The readjustment lies on the study of two types of fuzzy interrelations between terms: the fuzzy synonymy interrelation and the fuzzy generality interrelations (“broader than” and “narrower than” interrelations). The model has been implemented in the FISS metasearcher (Fuzzy Interrelations and Synonymy based Searcher) that, using a soft-clustering algorithm (based on the SISC algorithm), dynamically produces a hierarchical structure of groups of “conceptually related” documents (snippets of web pages, in this case).

Environmental stressors require the professional diver to undergo a complex process of psychophysiological adaptation in order to overcome the demands of an extreme environment and carry out effective and efficient work under water. The influence of cognitive and personality traits in predicting underwater performance and adaptation has been a common concern for diving psychology, and definitive conclusions have not been reached. In this ex post facto study, psychological and academic data were analyzed from a large sample of personnel participating in scuba diving courses carried out in the Spanish Navy Diving Center. In order to verify the relevance of individual differences in adaptation to a hostile environment, we evaluated the predictive validity of general mental ability and personality traits with regression techniques. The data indicated the existence of psychological variables that can predict the performance ( R² = .30, p.001) and adaptation ( R²(N) = .51, p.001) of divers in underwater environment. These findings support the hypothesis that individual differences are related to the probability of successful adaptation and effective performance in professional diving. These results also verify that dispositional traits play a decisive role in diving training and are significant factors in divers' psychological fitness.

FRIDA will be a near infrared imager and integral field spectrograph covering the wavelength range from 0.9 to 2.5 microns. Primary observing modes are: direct imaging and integral field spectroscopy. This paper describes the main advances in the development of the electronics and control system for both the mechanisms and house-keeping of FRIDA. In order to perform several tests of mechanisms in both room and cryogenic environments, a set of programs had been developed. All variables of the vacuum control system were determined and the main control structure based on one Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) had been established. A key function of the FRIDA’s control system is keeping the integrity of cryostat during all processes, so we have designed a redundant heating control system which will be in charge of avoiding cryostat inner overheating. In addition, some improvements of cryogenic and room temperature cabling structure are described.
