173. Ixodes pacificus Cooley and Kohls, 1943. A Nearctic species, all of whose parasitic stages are usually found on Mammalia (several orders), but they have also been found on Galliformes: Phasianidae, Passeriformes: Passerellidae and Troglodytidae, and Squamata: Anguidae and Phrynosomatidae (adults are rare on Aves and Squamata). Larvae and nymphs are also commonly recovered from Passeriformes (several families), and Squamata (several families). Ixodes pacificus is a frequent parasite of humans.
