Item does not contain fulltext OBJECTIVE: The male preponderance in prevalence of autism is among the most pronounced sex ratios across neurodevelopmental conditions. The authors sought to elucidate the relationship between autism and typical sex-differential neuroanatomy, cognition, and related gene expression. METHODS: Using a novel deep learning framework trained to predict biological sex based on T(1)-weighted structural brain images, the authors compared sex prediction model performance across neurotypical and autistic males and females. Multiple large-scale data sets comprising T(1)-weighted MRI data were employed at four stages of the analysis pipeline: 1) pretraining, with the UK Biobank sample (>10,000 individuals); 2) transfer learning and validation, with the ABIDE data sets (1,412 individuals, 5-56 years of age); 3) test and discovery, with the EU-AIMS/AIMS-2-TRIALS LEAP data set (681 individuals, 6-30 years of age); and 4) specificity, with the NeuroIMAGE and ADHD200 data sets (887 individuals, 7-26 years of age). RESULTS: Across both ABIDE and LEAP, features positively predictive of neurotypical males were on average significantly more predictive of autistic males (ABIDE: Cohen's d=0.48; LEAP: Cohen's d=1.34). Features positively predictive of neurotypical females were on average significantly less predictive of autistic females (ABIDE: Cohen's d=1.25; LEAP: Cohen's d=1.29). These differences in sex prediction accuracy in autism were not observed in individuals with ADHD. In autistic females, the male-shifted neurophenotype was further associated with poorer social sensitivity and emotional face processing while also associated with gene expression patterns of midgestational cell types. CONCLUSIONS: The results demonstrate an increased resemblance in both autistic male and female individuals' neuroanatomy with male-characteristic patterns associated with typically sex-differential social cognitive features and related gene expression patterns. The findings hold promise for future research aimed at refining the quest for biological mechanisms underpinning the etiology of autism.

Motoric cognitive risk syndrome (MCR) is a newly proposed pre-dementia syndrome. Several studies on the prevalence of MCR have been published; however, the data vary across studies with different epidemiological characteristics. Thus, this study aimed to quantitatively analyse the overall prevalence and associated epidemiological characteristics of MCR among older adults aged ≥ 60 years.The Cochrane Library, PubMed, Web of Science, CINAHL, Embase, Scopus, PsycInfo, China National Knowledge Infrastructure, Weipu Database, China Biology Medicine disc and Wanfang Database were searched from their inception to January 2022. A modified Newcastle-Ottawa Scale evaluated the risk of bias. Statistical heterogeneity among the included studies was analysed using Cochran's Q and ISixty-two studies comprising 187,558 samples were obtained. The pooled MCR prevalence was 9.0% (95% confidence interval: 8.3-9.8). A higher MCR prevalence was observed in females, older adults with a low educational level, depression and cardiovascular risk factors, South American populations, and studies with small sample sizes and cross-section designs. Furthermore, subjective cognitive complaint using scale score and gait speed using instrument gait showed higher MCR prevalence.MCR is common in older adults, and various epidemiological characteristics influence its prevalence. Thus, preventive measures are required for older adults with higher MCR prevalence.

Background Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) play an essential role in biological processes. However, the expression patterns of lncRNAs that regulate the non-Mendelian inheritance feather phenotypes remain unknown. Objective This study aimed to compare the expression profiles of lncRNAs in the follicles of the late-feathering cocks (LC) and late-feathering hens (LH) that followed genetic rules and the early-feathering hen (EH) and early-feathering cock (EC) that did not conform to the genetic laws. Methods We performed RNA sequencing and investigated the differentially expressed lncRNAs (DElncRNAs) between the early- and late-feathering chickens, which function by cis-acting or participate in the competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA) network. Results A total of 53 upregulated and 43 downregulated lncRNAs were identified in EC vs. LC, and 58 upregulated and 109 downregulated lncRNAs were identified in EH vs. LH. The target mRNAs regulated by lncRNAs in cis were enriched in the pentose phosphate pathway, TGF-β signaling pathway and Jak-STAT signaling pathway in EC vs. LC and were associated with the TGF-β signaling pathway, Wnt signaling pathway, p53 signaling pathway and Jak-STAT signaling pathway in EH vs. LH. In addition, the lncRNA-mediated ceRNA regulatory pathways of hair follicle formation were mainly enriched in the TGF-β signaling pathway, Wnt signaling pathway, melanogenesis, and calcium signaling pathways. The levels of ENSGALG00000047626 were significantly higher in the late-feathering chickens than in the early-feathering chickens, which regulated the expression of SSTR2 by gga-miR-1649-5p. To systematically evaluate and integrate the qualitative research on physical activity (PA) experience of patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).Web of Science, Cochrane Library, Embase, CINAHL and other databases were searched, and the qualitative research on PA experience of patients with COPD was collected. The systematic review was conducted in line with Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) methodology for systematic reviews of qualitative evidence.12 studies were included and 3 themes were summarized, included: COPD patients experience more barriers while participating in physical activities than facilitators; COPD patients experience more positive effects post-physical activities than negative effects; Guaranteeing safety, goal setting, and establishing a professional support group improve compliance in COPD patients.Health care professionals should help patients overcome the obstacles of PA, pay attention to the PA experience of patients, adopt diversified PA methods, improve PA participation and compliance, and make patients develop good PA habits.

Mild moxibustion is a treatment approach belonging to moxa-hanging moxibustion. The burning end of the moxa stick is kept at a fixed distance from the moxibustion skin, aiming to make the patient feel warm without burning pain. The appropriate temperature distribution is critical for the mild moxibustion treatment. The purpose of this paper is to improve the efficacy of mild moxibustion on human tissues. By combining the radiative and conductive models with surface-to-surface heat transfer, biological heat transfer simulations are realized based on biological tissues in particular media. A finite element model of mild moxibustion was established to obtain the characteristics of skin tissue temperature distribution under various conditions. The model considers multiple factors, such as the moxa-burning temperature, the stick-to-skin distance, the moxa stick sizes, and the ambient temperature. The results show that the temperature distribution under various conditions is centered at the moxibustion point and the temperature decreases in the surrounding direction. The higher the moxa-burning temperature, the higher the skin surface temperature and the worse the stability in heating. The stick-to-skin distance is inversely proportional to the skin surface temperature. The moxa stick diameter is proportional to the skin surface temperature. The longer the moxibustion time, the higher the skin surface temperature. And the temperature change gradually flattened in the late stage of mild moxibustion. Finally, a set of moxibustion conditions with optimal temperature distribution was obtained by comparing the data of all groups.

Purpose To predict the change of retinal sensitivity using optical coherence tomography (OCT) parameters in eyes with central serous chorioretinopathy (CSC). Methods Twenty-three eyes of 23 patients with CSC were enrolled. Retinal sensitivity was measured twice with a microperimetry in all examined eyes. OCT measurement was simultaneously conducted. The relationship between retinal sensitivities and the thicknesses of i) retinal nerve fiver layer + ganglion cell layer (RNFL+GCL), ii) inner nuclear layer (INL) iii) outer nuclear layer (ONL) and iV) serous retinal detachment height (SRDH) were investigated in a point-wise manner. Benefited from the fast switching speed, Gallium nitride (GaN) high electron mobility transistors (HEMTs) have been widely used in high switching frequency converters. However, due to the significant correlation between the turn-off time and operating conditions (more than 20 times difference of the turn-off time between the high load current and small load current for GaN HEMTs), using a fixed dead time will introduce extra dead-time losses in inverters where the output voltage and current are constantly varying. Therefore, this paper proposes a high-efficiency adaptive method to dynamically adjust the GaN-inverter dead-time with operating conditions. An improved transient model including the parasitic inductance and output voltage with bidirectional solution flow has been proposed for GaN HEMTs to increase the accuracy of dead-time adjustment. Based on this model, the dynamic dead-time adjustment can be realized without extra sensors for GaN-inverters. Using the dynamic dead-time adjustment, the experimental results show a peak efficiency of 98.25% in a 1200W inverter with triangular current mode modulation. Compared with using the fixed dead-time, the dynamic dead-time method can reduce the power loss by 26.7% under full load and 49.14% under light load.

Wide switching frequency range is required for LCC resonant converter with wide gain and load ranges which will lead to low power density and slow dynamic responses. Resonant tank switch is an effective approach to limit the operation frequency range without sacrificing power transistor’s ZVS switching and system complexity too much. However, current approach of resonant tank switch failed to provide a generalized and engineering practicability methodology. In this paper, a new resonant tank design method is firstly proposed considering voltage and current stress for higher efficiency and improved design feasibility. Resonant tank switch methodologies are developed with single switch parameter (Cs-Switch, Ls-Switch and Ls-Parallel) and multi-switch parameter (full range, fixed slope and fixed inflection point). Operation range divisions for different tanks are further proposed under gain and load co-variations. A 5 kW LCC converter with gain variations of 0.3 to 1.2 and output current range of 0.3 A to 18 A is built to verify the tank switch approaches. The targeted frequency range is 400 kHz to 500 kHz. Under constant load, the switching frequency range can be limited to 25% with one primary tank and one compensated tank, compared with 66.7% frequency variation with one resonant tank. It is also found that Ls-Switch approach achieves desired gain range with smallest switching frequency range, moderate voltage stress and smallest current stress under constant load and variable gain. With three resonant tanks, full gain and load range can be covered under required frequency ranges. The switching frequency range is limited to 25% compared with 78.6 % variation with one resonant tank. Soft switching is also achieved under full operation range.

At present, with the rapid development of the material market, the requirements of high performance and high precision of materials are increasingly exposed. Nanomagnetic fluid materials are more and more widely used in oil film bearings, but their compressive strength and performance are insufficient, which is difficult to meet the current requirements of material chemical properties. First of all, a device for simulating a microgravity environment with magnetic compensation is fabricated. Then, in the microgravity environment, according to the different proportions of magnetic solid particles, the base carrier liquid and the surfactant are mixed to produce nanomagnetic fluid and the nanomagnetic fluid with different composition proportions is prepared by adjusting the proportion of ferrous and ferric ions. Finally, the lubrication performance of oil film-bearing magnetic fluid with different composition ratios was tested. The results show that when the ratio of Fe2+ to Fe3+ is between 11 : 20 and 13 : 20, the MHD (magnetohydrodynamics) lubrication performance of oil film bearing is in the peak region. When the ratio is 3 : 5, the best lubrication performance can be achieved. When it is slightly higher than this ratio, the oxidation rate is accelerated due to more ferrous ions. Although it can have a good lubrication effect, it is easy to cause the overall fluidity of oil film-bearing magnetic fluid to deteriorate. Therefore, the oil film bearing nano-MHD with the ratio of 3 : 5 ferrous to ferric has the best lubrication performance in the microgravity environment simulated by magnetic compensation. Experiments have shown that when the magnetic fluid is heated in a magnetic field, the temperature gradient will cause the magnetization to change, which makes the magnetic force experienced by the liquid in each part different, causing convection. Therefore, by selecting the direction of the magnetic field and the heating surface, by applying an external magnetic field or promoting convection, or suppressing convection, convection in the opposite direction to the natural convection of gravity can also be realized. Moreover, magnetism can immediately promote high-temperature boiling, generate bubbles, and eliminate the generation of bubbles to promote heat transfer. With the above effects, the heat conduction between the heating wall and the liquid can be controlled, and its practical and potential application fields are very wide.

BackgroundA low estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR 2) is widely recognized as a risk factor for major adverse cardiac events (MACE) after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) for chronic total occlusion (CTO). However, the impact of successful CTO-PCI on quality of life (QOL) of patients with low eGFR remains unknown.ObjectivesThe aim of this prospective study was to assess the QOL of CTO patients with low eGFR after successful PCI.MethodsConsecutive patients undergoing elective CTO-PCI were prospectively enrolled and subdivided into four groups: eGFR ≥90 mL/min/1.73 m2 (n = 410), 90 > eGFR ≥ 60 mL/min/1.73 m2 (n = 482), 60 > eGFR ≥ 30 mL/min/1.73 m2 (n = 161), and eGFR 2 (n = 23). The primary outcomes included QOL, as assessed with the European Quality of Life-5 Dimensions (EQ-5D) questionnaire, and symptoms, as assessed with the Rose Dyspnea Scale (RDS) and Seattle Angina Questionnaire (SAQ), at 1 month and 1 year after successful PCI.ResultsWith the decline of eGFR, CTO patients were more likely to present with comorbidities of hypertension, diabetes, hyperuricemia, and previous stroke, in addition to lower hemoglobin levels and left ventricular ejection fraction (p < 0.05). Low eGFR was associated with greater incidences of in-hospital pericardiocentesis, major bleeding, acute renal failure, and subcutaneous hematoma, but not in-hospital MACE (p < 0.05). Symptoms of dyspnea and angina were alleviated in all CTO patients with eGFR ≥30 mL/min/1.73 m2 at 1 month and 1 year after successful CTO-PCI, but only at 1 month for those with eGFR 2 (p < 0.01). Importantly, QOL was markedly improved at 1 month and 1 year after successful PCI (p < 0.01), notably at a similar degree between patients with low eGFR and those with normal eGFR (p > 0.05).ConclusionSuccessful PCI effectively improved symptoms and QOL of CTO patients with low eGFR.

A major problem in the application of machine learning to neuroimaging is the technological variability of MRI scanners and differences in the subject populations across studies. Transfer learning (TL) attempts to alleviate this problem. TL refers to a family of methods which acquire knowledge from related tasks to improve generalization in the tasks of interest. In this work, we pre-train a deep neural network on UK Biobank MRI data on age and sex prediction, and study the predictions of the network on three small MRI data sets. We find that the neural networks can extract meaningful features from unseen data sets under the necessary but also sufficient condition that the network was pre-trained to predict the label of interest (e.g. pre-trained on age prediction if age prediction is the task of interest). Based on this, we propose a transfer learning pipeline which relies on the re-use of deep neural network features across data sets for the same tasks. We find that our method outperforms classical regression methods and training a network from scratch. In particular, we improve state-of-the-art results on age and sex prediction. Our transfer learning method may therefore provide a simple and efficient pipeline to achieve high performance on small MRI data sets.

This article proposes a unified pulsewidth-cycle (UPWC) control strategy to achieve mixed-mode operation and consistent valley switching (VS) for boost power factor correction converter. Compared with conventional single-mode controllers, it has a unified scheme to achieve single discontinuous conduction mode (DCM), single critical conduction mode (CRM), or mixed DCM/CRM operations in each half-line cycle. To regulate the input current as a sinusoid, the UPWC controller adopts a variable pulsewidth and a near-constant switching cycle under DCM, while adopts a constant pulsewidth and a variable switching cycle under CRM. To facilitate analysis, normalized mapping of operation modes is provided, along with the final pulsewidth and switching cycle. Furthermore, to ensure consistent VS, a controlled zero current detection method is proposed to fix the turn- on point of the power switch. No matter in DCM or CRM, consistent VS reduces both the switching loss and current distortion caused by parasitic resonance. To further reduce the current distortion caused by fixing the turn- on point, a compensation gain is provided that reshapes the input current as a sinusoid. Finally, through mixed DCM/CRM operation and consistent VS, the proposed UPWC controller achieves preferable performances in the power range, efficiency, power factor, and current distortion.

Dearomatization of indole is a useful strategy to access indolimines: a motif widely exists in biologically active molecules and natural products. Herein, an efficient method for the dearomatization of 2,3-disubstituted indoles to generate diverse indolimines with tetrasubstituted allenes is described. This work accomplishes dearomatization of 2,3-disubstituted indoles through 1,8-addition of (aza)-para-quinone methides, which are generated in situ from propargylic alcohols. A series of synthetically useful indolimines containing quaternary carbon centers and tetrasubstituted allenes can be accessed in good yields (up to 99%). Additionally, the separability of product isomers, diversified product transformations, and easy scale-up of the reaction demonstrate the potential application of this method.

Paralleled discrete SiC MOSFETs lead to high current capability at low costs. Current sharing is a critical issue for paralleling design with significant impacts on switching losses, current stress, and reliability. The mismatches in power loop caused by parasitic components are one of the main causes for unbalanced currents, which need to be fully extracted and compensated for a well-balanced design. Discrete SiC MOSFETs are usually mounted on a multilayer PCB. The power loop parasitic extraction for such a system needs to deal with current sharing among paralleled devices and multilayer current path coupling effects on PCB. With the two effects mixing together, it is difficult to extract the parasitic components for a single branch from such a multidimensional network. State-of-the-art approaches fail to solve the two issues simultaneously or require very strong computation capability. A novel parasite-specific numerical model is created to reveal the unbalanced components in the power loops. A multiport network with multi-input–multioutput (MIMO) analysis is applied to pursue the correlations between branch currents and parasitic elements in both steady-state process and oscillation process. A four-step parameter extraction procedure is introduced to capture the specific parasitics corresponding to particular current mismatch processes. A double-pulse test (DPT) prototype with two paralleled SiC devices is adopted to demonstrate the proposed approach with artificially inserted mismatches. The proposed method achieves excellent accuracy in parameter extractions. The extraction error is only 2.2% for parasitic inductances and less than 5.6% for resistances and capacitances.

Resonant gate driver (RGD) is a premium solution for driving power transistors in high-frequency and high-power-density applications, with the merits of much less power loss and more design freedoms in adjusting driving time. This article aims at providing a thorough review of RGDs and guidelines for constructing the most suitable RGDs under different design specifications. The classification of RGDs based on resonance characteristics is first proposed. It results in more straightforward, precise RGD categories without complex hierarchy, and cross coincidences. The dynamic energy distributions in the switching transients of each type of RGDs are deeply investigated, and energy utilization rates are concluded and compared. The key parameters affecting driving energy and driving time for each type of RGDs are further explored, as the resonant inductor, gate resistor, and initial inductor current. A top–down design approach is also summarized to guide the optimized RGD designs under different converter requirements.

For the dual three‐phase permanent magnet synchronous motor(dual‐PMSM), the deadtime can introduce fifth and seventh current harmonics, and they are only constrained by the small stator leakage impedance, which means even if there are only small fifth and seventh voltage harmonics, the resulting fifth and seventh current harmonics will be very large. The harmonic current will make an increment of the system loss, thus lead to an reduce of the efficiency of the speed control system. This paper proposes a harmonic current suppression strategy for dual‐PMSM based on least mean square (LMS) adaptive notch filter. This strategy suppresses the fifth and seventh harmonic currents by introducing four LMS adaptive notch filters in the subspace. The proposed algorithm has good dynamic performance and is insensitive to motor parameters that are offset within a certain range. The effectiveness of proposed method is verified by a set of comparative simulations and experiments.

Friction stir processing (FSP) was used to modify the microstructure and improve the mechanical properties and corrosion resistance of an Mg–Al–Ca alloy. The results demonstrated that, after FSP, the grain size of the Mg–Al–Ca alloy was decreased from 13.3 to 6.7 μm. Meanwhile, the Al8Mn5 phase was broken and dispersed, and its amount was increased. The yield strength and ultimate tensile strength of the Mg–Al–Ca alloy were increased by 17.0% and 10.1%, respectively, due to the combination of fine grain, second phase, and orientation strengthening, while the elongation was slightly decreased. The immersion and electrochemical corrosion rates in 3.5 wt% NaCl solution decreased by 18.4% and 37.5%, respectively, which contributed to grain refinement. However, the stress corrosion cracking (SCC) resistance of the modified Mg–Al–Ca alloy decreased significantly, which was mainly due to the filiform corrosion induced by the Al8Mn5 phase. SCC was mainly controlled by anodic dissolution, while the cathodic hydrogen evolution accelerated the SCC process.

Background Acid sphingomyelinase deficiency (ASMD) disorder, also known as Niemann–Pick disease (NPD) is a rare genetic disease caused by mutations in SMPD1 gene, which encodes sphingomyelin phosphodiesterase (ASM). Except for liver and spleen enlargement and lung disease, two subtypes (Type A and B) of NDP have different onset times, survival times, ASM activities, and neurological abnormalities. To comprehensively explore NPD’s genotype-phenotype association and pathophysiological characteristics, we collected 144 NPD cases with strict quality control through literature mining. Results The difference in ASM activity can differentiate NPD type A from other subtypes, with the ratio of ASM activity to the reference values being lower in type A (threshold 0.045 (4.45%)). Severe variations, such as deletion and insertion, can cause complete loss of ASM function, leading to type A, whereas relatively mild missense mutations generally result in type B. Among reported mutations, the p.Arg3AlafsX76 mutation is highly prevalent in the Chinese population, and the p.R608del mutation is common in Mediterranean countries. The expression profiles of SMPD1 from GTEx and single-cell RNA sequencing data of multiple fetal tissues showed that high expressions of SMPD1 can be observed in the liver, spleen, and brain tissues of adults and hepatoblasts, hematopoietic stem cells, STC2_TLX1-positive cells, mesothelial cells of the spleen, vascular endothelial cells of the cerebellum and the cerebrum of fetuses, indicating that SMPD1 dysfunction is highly likely to have a significant effect on the function of those cell types during development and the clinicians need pay attention to these organs or tissues as well during diagnosis. In addition, we also predicted 21 new pathogenic mutations in the SMPD1 gene that potentially cause the NPD, signifying that more rare cases will be detected with those mutations in SMPD1. Finally, we also analysed the function of the NPD type A cells following the extracellular milieu. Conclusions Our study is the first to elucidate the effects of SMPD1 mutation on cell types and at the tissue level, which provides new insights into the genotype-phenotype association and can help in the precise diagnosis of NPD.

The purpose of the present study was to comprehensively evaluate the oncological safety of autologous fat grafting after breast cancer by combining experimental and clinical studies.All studies published before August 2021 were collected by searching PubMed, Cochrane, Embase, Web of Science, SINOMED, and China National Knowledge Infrastructure. After screening the research and extracting the data, RevMan was used to perform the meta-analysis.Five basic science studies and 26 clinical studies, involving a total of 10,125 patients, were eventually included. In the basic science studies, adipose-derived stem cells promoted breast cancer growth, but fat grafting and adipose-derived stem cells plus fat grafting were not associated with breast cancer growth. An overall analysis of clinical studies showed that autologous fat grafting does not increase the risk of breast cancer recurrence. Subgroup analyses indicated that autologous fat grafting did not increase the risk of breast cancer recurrence in Asian or Caucasian patients, in patients undergoing breast-conserving surgery or modified radical mastectomy, in patients with in situ carcinomas or invasive carcinomas, or in patients undergoing postoperative radiotherapy.This study combined experimental and clinical studies to conclude that autologous fat grafting does not increase the risk of breast cancer recurrence. However, the experimental results suggest that adipose-derived stem cells should be used with caution after breast cancer surgery.This journal requires that authors assign a level of evidence to each article. Nucleotide excision repair (NER) of ultraviolet (UV)-induced DNA lesions known as cyclobutane pyrimidine dimer (CPD) and (6-4)-pyrimidine-pyrimidone (6-4PP) photoproducts depends on the activities of multiple anti-UV radiation (RAD) proteins in budding yeast. However, NER remains poorly known in filamentous fungi, whose DNA lesions are photorepaired by one or two photolyases, namely CPD-specific Phr1 and/or 6-4PP-specific Phr2. Previously, the white collar proteins WC1 and WC2 were proven to regulate expressions of phr2 and phr1 and photorepair 6-4PP and CDP DNA lesions, respectively, in Metarhizium robertsii, a filamentous entomopathogenic-phytoendophytic fungus. We report here high activities of orthologous Rad1 and Rad10 in 5-h photoreactivation of UVB-injured or UVB-inactivated conidia but a severely compromised capability of their reactivating those conidia via 24-h dark incubation in M. robertsii. The null mutants of rad1 and rad10 were much more compromised in conidial UVB resistance and photoreactivation capability than the previous null mutants of phr1, phr2, wc1 and wc2. Multiple protein-protein (Rad1-Rad10, Rad1-WC2, Rad10-Phr1, WC1-Phr1/2 and WC2-Phr1/2) interactions detected suggest direct/indirect links of Rad1 and Rad10 to Phr1/2 and WC1/2 and an importance of the links for their photoreactivation activities. Conclusively, Rad1 and Rad10 photoreactivate UVB-impaired M. robertsii through their interactions with the DNA photorepair-required proteins.
