Several factors are influencing the poultry production and health such as strong global competition; changes in social, political and consumer perceptions with regard to food safety, animal welfare and environmental protection. The loss of consumer confidence and trust in the quality and safety of poultry meat and poultry products will remain a continuous major challenge. Many human foodborne infections are linked to poultry. Control and/or elimination of these organisms present a great challenge. The development of antibiotic resistant bacteria will also be a continuous public health hazard. The future concept of animal health will cover not only the absence of disease in birds, but also the relationship between the health of animals and their welfare. It will also take into account social, economic and ethical considerations, as well as support the achievement of a high level of environmental protection. In general, consumer expectations for high quality products will strongly influence future production methods. This means that farmers, veterinarians, stockholders and all other partners involved in the production chain need to share more responsibilities. The present paper explores these points.

Background Previously thought to be congenital, AVMs have shown evidence of de-novo formation and continued growth, thus shifting thoughts on their pathophysiology. Pediatric AVM patients have been reported to be more prone to develop AVM recurrence after a seemingly complete cure. Therefore, we assessed the risk of AVM treated in childhood to recur in adulthood after a long-term follow-up in our own cohort. Methods Control DS-angiography was arranged during 2021–2022 as part of a new protocol for all AVM patients who were under 21 years of age at the time of their treatment and in whom the treatment had occurred at least five years earlier. Angiography was offered only to patients under 50 years of age at the time of the new protocol. The complete eradication of AVM after the primary treatment had been originally confirmed with DSA in every patient. Results A total of 42 patients participated in the late DSA control, and 41 of them were included in this analysis after excluding the patient diagnosed with HHT. The median age at the time of admission for AVM treatment was 14.6 (IQR 12–19, range 7–21 years) years. The median age at the time of the late follow-up DSA was 33.8 years (IQR 29.8–38.6, range 19.4–47.9 years). Two recurrent sporadic AVMs and one recurrent AVM in a patient with hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia (HHT) were detected. The recurrence rate was 4.9% for sporadic AVMs and 7.1% if HHT-AVM was included. All the recurrent AVMs had originally bled and been treated microsurgically. The patients with sporadic AVM recurrence had been smoking their whole adult lives. Conclusions Pediatric and adolescent patients are prone to develop recurrent AVMs, even after complete AVM obliteration verified by angiography. Therefore, imaging follow-up is recommended.

BACKGROUND: Work-related low back pain (LBP) increases the workforce disability and healthcare costs. This study evaluated the LBD risk level associated with handling the ACGIH TLVs in lifting tasks corresponding to various horizontal and vertical zones. OBJECTIVE: The aim of this study was to compare the low-risk ACGIH TLV to risk outcomes from various validated lifting assessment methods, including the OSU LBD Risk Model, NIOSH Lifting Equation, and LiFFT. METHODS: Twenty-four subjects were recruited for this study to perform various lifting conditions. The various ergonomic assessment methods were then used to obtain the risk assessment outcomes. RESULTS: The selected assessment methods showed that the ACGIH-defined TLVs are associated with less than high-risk for LBD for all the assessed tasks. The findings showed a moderate agreement (Kendall’s W = 0.477) among the various assessment methods risk outcomes. The highest correlation (ρ= 0.886) was observed between the NIOSH Lifting Equation and LiFFT methods risk assessment outcomes. CONCLUSION: The findings showed that ACGIH-defined TLVs possesses less than high-risk for LBD. The outcomes of the selected ergonomic assessment methods moderately agree to each other.

Within the region of India, monsoon prediction was reported to use the concentration of 7Be cosmogenic radionuclide that contains crucial information such as atmospheric behaviour change. This review aims to identify and analyse the existing research on the usage of 7Be Cosmogenic radionuclide in assisting weather forecasts, especially rain onset and withdrawal in the monsoon season and the correlations of rainfall and monsoonal variation in Malaysia. A comprehensive search of major scientific databases was conducted, and relevant studies were selected based on inclusion and exclusion criteria between January 2017 and August 2022. The review found that the method of utilising 7Be as a parameter in monsoon forecasting for India is newly developed and only be assessed using the trans-equatorial method. The review also highlighted the expectation that the 7Be concentration analysis throughout the years could provide new insight into understanding monsoon behaviour and can be further utilised in forecasting the rainfall intensity during a wet season in Malaysia.

The most abundant organic carbon source on Earth is cellulosic materials. Its main resources are crop straws which are not commonly used and produce environmental pollution. These resources can be a site of biological hydrolysis to primary sugars by cellulase enzymes, in which avicelase is the most efficient enzyme in the cellulase family. This work aimed to clone the avicelase gene, transfer it to E. coli, optimize its expression, saccharify rice straw to its primary sugars, and ferment it to bioethanol. The avicelase gene was cloned from the Bacillus subtilis strain and cloned into two E. coli (i.e., DH5α and Bl21) strains. The optimized avicelase activity was described by testing the effect of different media and growth conditions including different carbon and nitrogen sources, as well as pHs and shaking or static conditions. Avicelase enzyme was extracted and used to saccharify rice straw. The obtained glucose was subjected to fermentation by Saccharomyces cerevisiae F.307 under an aerobic condition growth for the production of bioethanol. The ethanol yield was 5.26% (v/v), and the fermentation efficiency was 86%. This study showed the ability to clone one of the cellulolytic genes (i.e., avicelase) for the valorization of rice straw for producing renewable energy and bioethanol from cellulolytic wastes such as rice straw.

This study aims to investigate the effect of organizational climate on organizational commitment in Gaza Electricity Distribution Corporation (GEDCO). A questionnaire was employed as the study tool, and a descriptive analytical technique was used to meet the study's objectives. (269) questionnaires were distributed, but (221) returned with a response rate of 82.16%. Also (SPSS) was used for data analysis by using various statistical methods. To analyze the structural equation model and look at the study hypotheses, analysis of a moment structures program (AMOS) tool was utilized. This study mainly contributes in enhancing the literature of the concept of organizational commitment, improving the methods of the study in the human resource area, and in finding out the effect of the research factors on organizational commitment. The results showed that there is a direct, weak, positive, effect of the organizational climate on organizational commitment (27.8%). The organizational structure (OS) dimension has the most impact on organizational commitment (74.4%), the next dimension was decision making (DM) equals (69.7%), while the dimensions (available technology (AT) was the least influential on organizational commitment (44.5%). The study recommends for providing employees with a proper awareness concerning organizational climate dimensions and how it may affect their organizational commitment.

VDM Alloy 780 is a new polycrystalline nickel-based superalloy developed for aeronautical applications. In most of the targeted applications, grain size after forging must be precisely controlled to meet the targeted mechanical properties and in-service life requirements. Grain size in forgings is the direct consequence of the recrystallization and grain growth kinetics which are addressed in this paper at high temperatures, above the solvus temperature of γ′ and η/δ phases. The dynamic and post-dynamic recrystallization kinetics as well as the grain growth kinetics of VDM Alloy 780 are detailed over a range of thermomechanical conditions. Dynamic recrystallization appears to be limited, with only 30 pct recrystallized at quite high strain of 1.7 applied at 1050 °C and 0.01 s−1 for instance, but this is compensated by fast post-dynamic evolution. Within the investigated thermomechanical range, recrystallization is completed with 5 minutes of post-deformation hold in VDM Alloy 780 independent of the prior strain, strain rate and dynamic recrystallization fraction. For a strain as low as 0.08, an isothermal annealing of 30 minutes at 1050 °C generates a homogenous and fully recrystallized microstructure. Capillarity driven grain growth following recrystallization is also relatively slow, for instance an exposure at 1050 °C (50 °C above the solvus temperature) for 2 hours results in an increase in average grain size from 20 to 70 μm. This opens the possibility to fine tune the grain sizes by subsequent heat treatments within a time scale that is compatible with industrial conditions. The high cobalt content (25 pct) is suspected to play a role in the control of microstructure evolution kinetics. It is noteworthy that VDM Alloy 780 is shown here to not undergo the heterogeneous grain growth phenomenon reported in low strain regions for other nickel-based superalloys, which is also an asset for applications requiring strict control of grain sizes and grain size distributions.

STUDY QUESTION Does the occurrence of non-visualized pregnancy loss (NVPL) affect future reproductive outcomes in patients with recurrent pregnancy loss (RPL)? SUMMARY ANSWER The number of previous NVPLs is a significant predictor of subsequent live birth in patients with RPL. WHAT IS KNOWN ALREADY The number of preceding miscarriages is a strong indicator for future reproductive outcomes. However, NVPL particularly has been sparsely addressed in previous literature. STUDY DESIGN, SIZE, DURATION We performed a retrospective cohort study of 1981 patients attending a specialized recurrent pregnancy loss clinic (RPL) from January 2012 to March 2021. A total of 1859 patients met the inclusion criteria of the study and were included in the analysis. PARTICIPANTS/MATERIALS, SETTING, METHODS Patients with a history of RPL, defined as ≥2 pregnancy losses before 20 weeks gestation, who attended a specialized RPL clinic in a tertiary care center were included. Patients’ evaluation included parental karyotyping, antiphospholipid antibodies screening, uterine cavity assessment with hysterosalpingography (HSG) or hysteroscopy, maternal thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) testing, and serum hemoglobin A1C testing. Other investigations were performed only when indicated such as testing for inherited thrombophilias, serum prolactin, oral glucose tolerance test, and endometrial biopsy. Patients were divided into three groups; patients who experienced NVPLs only (pure NVPLs group), patients with only visualized pregnancy losses (pure VPLs group), and patients with history of both NVPLs and VPLs (mixed group). Statistical analysis was performed using Wilcoxon rank-sum tests for continuous variables and Fisher’s exact tests for categorical variables. Significance was detected when P values MAIN RESULTS AND THE ROLE OF CHANCE The prevalence of patients with pure NVPLs, pure VPLs, and mixed losses was 14.7% (274/1859), 31.8% (591/1859), and 53.5% (994/1859), respectively. The prevalence of acquired and congenital uterine anomalies diagnosed by HSG or hysteroscopy was significantly different between pure NVPLs, pure VPLs, and mixed groups (16.8% versus 23.7% versus. 20.7%, respectively P = 0.05). There were no significant differences in the results of other RPL investigations or baseline demographics between the three groups. A logistic regression model controlling for maternal age at the initial RPL clinic visit and the follow-up duration showed that the numbers of NVPLs (odds ratio (OR): 0.77, CI: 0.68–0.88) and VPLs (OR: 0.75, CI: 0.64–0.86) are strong predictors for subsequent live births after the initial RPL clinic visit (P LIMITATIONS, REASONS FOR CAUTION This study may be limited by its retrospective design. Some of our data, including home pregnancy tests and obstetric history, are based on patient self-reporting, which could have overstated the true prevalence of NVPLs. Another limitation is the lack of available live birth data for all patients at the time of the analysis. WIDER IMPLICATIONS OF THE FINDINGS To our knowledge, this is the first study to examine and analyze the reproductive outcomes of patients with pure NVPLs in a substantial cohort of patients with RPL. NVPLs seem to affect future live births the same way as clinical miscarriages, which supports their inclusion in RPL definitions. OBJECTIVE Characterizing changes in the geographic distribution of neurosurgeons in the United States (US) may inform efforts to provide a more equitable distribution of neurosurgical care. Herein, the authors performed a comprehensive analysis of the geographic movement and distribution of the neurosurgical workforce. METHODS A list containing all board-certified neurosurgeons practicing in the US in 2019 was obtained from the American Association of Neurological Surgeons membership database. Chi-square analysis and a post hoc comparison with Bonferroni correction were performed to assess differences in demographics and geographic movement throughout neurosurgeon careers. Three multinomial logistic regression models were performed to further evaluate relationships among training location, current practice location, neurosurgeon characteristics, and academic productivity. RESULTS The study cohort included 4075 (3830 male, 245 female) neurosurgeons practicing in the US. Seven hundred eighty-one neurosurgeons practice in the Northeast, 810 in the Midwest, 1562 in the South, 906 in the West, and 16 in a US territory. States with the lowest density of neurosurgeons included Vermont and Rhode Island in the Northeast; Arkansas, Hawaii, and Wyoming in the West; North Dakota in the Midwest; and Delaware in the South. Overall, the effect size, as measured by Cramér’s V statistic, between training stage and training region is relatively modest at 0.27 (1.0 is complete dependence); this finding was reflected in the similarly modest pseudo R2 values of the multinomial logit models, which ranged from 0.197 to 0.246. Multinomial logistic regression with L1 regularization revealed significant associations between current practice region and residency region, medical school region, age, academic status, sex, or race (p < 0.05). On subanalysis of the academic neurosurgeons, the region of residency training correlated with an advanced degree type in the overall neurosurgeon cohort, with more neurosurgeons than expected holding Doctor of Medicine and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in the West (p = 0.021). CONCLUSIONS Female neurosurgeons were less likely to practice in the South, and neurosurgeons in the South and West had reduced odds of holding academic rather than private positions. The Northeast was the most likely region to contain neurosurgeons who had completed their training in the same locality, particularly among academic neurosurgeons who did their residency in the Northeast.

Water scarcity is the most obstacle faced by irrigation water requirements, likewise, limited available meteorological data to calculate reference evapotranspiration. Consequently, the focal aims of the investigation are to assess the potential of machine learning models in forecasting irrigation water requirements (IWR) of snap beans by evolving multi-scenarios of inputs parameters to figure out the impact of meteorological, crop, and soil parameters on IWR. Six models were applied, support vector regressor (SVR), random forest (RF), deep neural networks (DNN), convolutional neural networks (CNN), long short-term memory (LSTM), and Hybrid CNN-LSTM. Ten variables including maximum and minimum temperature, Relative humidity, wind speed, precipitation, root depth, basal crop coefficient, soil evaporation, a fraction of surface wetted and, exposed and soil wetted fraction were used as the input data for models with their combination, 8 input scenarios were designed. Overall models, the best scenario was scenario 4 (relative humidity, wind speed, basal crop coefficient, soil evaporation), however, the best scenario for DNN and RF model was scenario 7 (root depth, basal crop coefficient, soil evaporation, fraction of surface wetted, exposed and soil wetted fraction). While the weakest one was the group of climatic factors in scenario 6 (maximum temperature, minimum temperature, relative humidity, wind speed, and precipitation). Among the models, the hybrid LTSM & CNN was the most accurate and the SVR model had the lowest estimation accuracy. The outcomes of this research work could set up a modeling strategy that would set in motion the improvement of efforts to identify the shortages in IWR forecasting, which sequentially may support alleviation strategies such as policies for sustainable water use and water resources management. Objective Anterior inferior cerebellar artery (AICA) aneurysms are rare posterior circulation lesions that are challenging to treat. This article presents the treatment and clinical outcome of AICA aneurysms in an unselected cohort of patients. Methods A retrospective analysis of patient record files, digital subtraction angiography, and computed tomography angiography images of 15 consecutive patients harboring AICA aneurysms treated between 1968 and 2017. Results Of the 15 AICA aneurysm patients reviewed, 12 (80%) were females. Twenty percent had intracerebral hemorrhage and 40% presented with intraventricular hemorrhage. Eleven out of 15 (73%) patients presented with subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH); 82% of SAH patients had a good-grade SAH (Hunt and Hess grade 1–3). Eleven patients (73%) were treated surgically, three (20%) were treated conservatively, and one (7%) had coil embolization. In 27% of patients, a subtemporal approach with anterior petrosectomy was performed. A retrosigmoid approach was used in the remaining 73%. In 18% of the patients, a parent vessel occlusion was necessary to occlude the aneurysm. Five out of 11 (47%) of the patients developed postoperative cranial nerve deficits. Twenty-seven percent developed shunt-dependent hydrocephalus. All patients who presented with an unruptured AICA aneurysm had good clinical outcome (modified Rankin scale [mRS] 1–2). In patients with SAH, 82% achieved good clinical outcome and 18% had poor clinical outcome (mRS 3–6) after 1 year. Conclusion Surgical treatment of AICA aneurysms has a high rate of cranial nerve deficits but most of patients have a good long-term clinical outcome.
