'' This work aims to develop a computational tool for synthesizing a four-bar linkage mechanism that can generate a prescribed path for a point coupler link to follow. The dimensional synthesis of the mechanism involves determining the lengths of each of its links. In this case, two possible configurations are evaluated: crank-rocker and/or double crank. The prescribed path consists of an arbitrary number of points contained in a plane, along with the corresponding rotation degrees of the driver element.'' Dimensioning the mechanism involves many variables, and it is possible to obtain various configurations that generate paths that are approximately the desired path. Therefore, the synthesis problem arises as an optimization problem in which the objective function seeks to minimize the Euclidean norm between the prescribed points and the points earned. To solve the optimization problem, a user-friendly computer program called SIDIGETRA was developed using the genetic algorithms numerical technique. Design constraints were imposed to obtain an open configuration of the mechanism and to avoid branching defects, order, and Grashof. The program's proper functioning was validated by comparing the results obtained in case studies published in a research article in which the genetic algorithms technique was also applied. The percentage relative errors between the coordinates of the obtained points and prescribed points were calculated and found to be satisfactory. Additionally, the results generated by SIDIGETRA were validated with a visual comparison between the prescribed trajectory and the one obtained by simulating the position analysis of the synthesized mechanism using a commercial software tool designed for this purpose.

The design of Microprocessors Computer Architectures remains as a fundamental course in Computer Science and Computer Engineering. The technology and organization inside microprocessors have changed quite fast in the last twenty years. That change has increased the information handled in class, difficulting the teaching/learning process among students. Although there are tools, mainly simulators, available to exemplify abstract concepts during the course, these tools have not come along with the technology. The computer architecture group of the Centro de Investigaci��n en Computaci��n at the IPN Mexico is working on a project called Lagarto to create an open computing platform for research and education to simplify the understanding of fundamental concepts involved in computer architecture and operating systems. This paper introduces Lagarto, our soft-core-processor micro-architecture. It has a scalar pipeline structure and executes a full MIPS 32 R6 ISA [9] [10] and includes an MMU to support modern Operative Systems. The complete design has been described using Verilog HDL and is fully synthesizable in an FPGA. Additionally, this work shows different ways to use and test the microprocessor with codes written in either assembly language or C language. We show that the Lagarto project allows students to incorporate during the course not only the traditional model of visualizing theoretical knowledge in a practical exercise through simulators but also integrate into the teaching process the RTL design to build the Microprocessor Architecture., in Spanish. Triatoma virus (TrV) is a small, non-enveloped virus that has a +ssRNA genome and is currently classified under the Cripavirus genus of the Dicistroviridae family. TrV infects haematophagous triatomine insects (Hemiptera: Reduviidae), which are vectors of American Trypanosomiasis (Chagas disease). TrV can be transmitted through the horizontal fecal-oral route, and its infection causes either deleterious sublethal effects or even death of laboratory insect colonies. Various species of triatomines from different regions of Latin America are currently being reared in research laboratories, with little or no awareness of the presence of TrV; therefore, any biological conclusion drawn from experiments on insects infected with this virus is inherently affected by the side effects of its infection. In this study, we developed a mathematical model to estimate the sample size required for detecting a TrV infection. We applied this model to screen the infection in feces of triatomines belonging to insectaries from 13 Latin American countries, carrying out the identification of TrV by using reverse transcriptase PCR. TrV was detected in samples coming from Argentina, which is the country where several years ago the virus was first isolated from Triatoma infestans (Hemiptera: Reduviidae). Interestingly, several colonies from Brazil were also found infected with the virus. This positive result widens the TrV?s host range to a total of 14 triatomine species.
