The study assessed the effects of globalization on the performance of Nigerian banks. Primary and secondary data were used for the study. Random sampling technique was used in selecting 30% of marketers. A while purposive sampling was used to select two top management staff in the marketing departments at the headquarters of each bank and fifty customers each from the 25 banks. Primary data were obtained from two questionnaires administered to marketers and customers of the banks. Interviews were also conducted with top management staff in the marketing departments of the banks. Secondary data on variables such as profit before and after tax, deposits, assets, capital base, loans, interest rates, ownership structure, and number of branches of Foreign Banks in Nigeria, among others were collected from the banks. Descriptive and inferential statistics were used to analyze the data. The results showed that globalization had significant and positive effects on the performance of banks. Higher profitability was a result of wider market coverage of banks in the country, both locally and internationally. The study concluded that globalization had no significant effect on market structure but greatly improved the performance of banks in Nigeria.

Information and communications technology (ICT) in recent times has become a viable strategic policy option adopted by many businesses in order to compete favourably in a competitive and dynamic ICT driven market. This strategic move by business organizations is being hindered by some challenges which has invariably reduced the benefits accruable from ICT deployment for business operations especially in the inventory management. Primary data formed the methodology of the study. Descriptive and inferential statistics were used to analyze data obtained through the administration of structured questionnaire. It was established during the field survey that challenges facing the use of ICT had impacted negatively on the performance of inventory management in the Nigerian brewery industry during the period under study. It was also revealed that the cost of software was a major challenge in the industry and conclude that the identified challenges had significant effect on customers' satisfaction of the firms in the Nigerian brewery industry. It is recommended that management of firms in the Nigerian brewery industry should collaborate with software developers in Nigerian to develop a software that will be a replica of ERP but should be efficient, effective and affordable for inventory management and other operations in the industry.

This paper examined the extent of usage of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) for inventory management in the Nigerian brewery industry; investigated the level of adoption of ICT in the inventory management phases; and the effect of the extent of ICT usage on its adoption by firms in the industry. Primary data formed the methodology of the study. The analysis of data collected was done using descriptive (tables and percentages) and inferential statistics. The results showed that majority of the respondents were using ICT tools and its associated components in their inventory management. It was revealed that the extent of ICT usage had significant effect on its adoption for inventory management by firms in the industry. Based on these findings, the study concluded that ICT is fully deployed and adopted to a very great extent for inventory management in the Nigerian brewery industry and that its adoption and usage in the brewery industry was influenced by its extent of use. The study recommends that firms in the industry should make judicious use of the identified ICT usage by adopting ICT solutions for their operations to boost the efficiency and effectiveness of their operations.

This study examined the effect of ICT on inventory management amongst breweries in Nigeria. Secondary data were sourced for this study. The population for the study comprises all brewery companies quoted on the Nigerian Stock Exchange. Purposive sampling technique was used in selecting the three leading brewery companies in Nigeria, namely the Nigerian Breweries Plc; Guinness Nigeria Plc; and International Breweries Plc that represent 75% of the breweries quoted in the Nigerian Stock Exchange factsbook. Secondary data on ICT/ software costs, inventories, sales turnover/revenue, and assets were sourced from years 2006 to 2015 Annual Reports and Statements of Accounts of the three selected breweries and the Nigeria Stock Exchange facts book. The data collected were analyzed using descriptive statistics ( tables, mean and standard deviation) and inferential statistics (Ordinary Least Square (OLS) method). The results also showed that ICT usage had no significant positive relationship on inventory management (t = 0.021, P > 0.01). The study concluded that ICT had no significant positive effect on inventory management in the Nigerian Brewery industry. It is recommended that brewery firms in Nigeria should deploy the right software for inventory management. The limitation of this research is what were used to measure the inventory management and Information and Communications Technology (ICT) as contrary results could be obtained if these variables are measured using other yardsticks. The improvement of the respondent required to see the other problem and another kind of business.

This study examined the impact of globalization on the Nigerian manufacturing sector with focus on selected textile firms from Lagos, Asaba and Kano. The data were collected using both qualitative and quantitative methodologies. The former were collected through interviews while the latter were collected via structured questionnaire and documents. In all, 630 respondents were used for the study. The respondents were selected using multiple sampling techniques - comprising of (i) stratified random sampling (ii) quota sampling, and (iii) systematic sampling techniques. The data were analyzed using parametric and non-parametric statistics. The main finding of the study is that globalization had strong adverse effects on capacity utilization in the manufacturing sector. And that the problems associated with globalization and liberalization of trade hindered economic growth and sustainable development. The study concluded on the note that Nigeria needs to have a second thought on globalization and her membership of the WTO agreement if she does not intend to do away with the manufacturing sector of the economy.

This paper analyses the methods of sourcing for cocoa beans by marketers in Nigeria. Data were obtained from a study carried out in Idanre a town in Ondo state of Nigeria between April 2000 and April 2001. Stratified random sampling technique was used in selecting 150 respondents. The study reveals that marketers who got their beans by planting some and complementing some by other purchases have the highest overall mean gross profit (N2 079314) but the difference in the mean gross profit of marketers using any of the sourcing methods is not significant at the ten percent level. The study also reveals that female cocoa marketers were more efficient than their male counterparts in terms of efficient utilization of resources whether mindful or regardless of sourcing methods used. It was concluded that the mostly patronized source of cocoa beans was from farmers which were achieved by granting loans or supplying some inputs to farmers during the planting season and collecting dried cocoa beans later in return. It is therefore recommended that male marketers should make more use of "see and buy" method to prevent them from falling victim of fraudsters female marketers should increase the volume of cocoa they market because dealing with low volume limits their total profits and finally cocoa marketers are advised to use any of the cocoa sourcing methods hence there is a dare need to increase cocoa production.
