AMAÇ: Ruhsal bozukluklarda komorbidite varlığı, psikososyal işlevselliğin yitimine, yaşam kalitesinde azalmaya, hastalığın seyrinin ve tedavisinin olumsuz yönde etkilenmesine neden olmaktadır. Çalışmamız, bipolar bozukluk hastalarında ayrılık kaygısı belirtilerinin yaşam kalitesiyle ilişkisini incelemek amacıyla yapılmıştır.GEREÇ VE YÖNTEM: Araştırmaya Kasım 2016 - Mayıs 2017 tarihleri arasında, Derince Eğitim ve Araştırma Hastanesi Psikiyatri Polikliniği’ne ayaktan başvuran bipolar bozukluk tanısı alıp en az iki ay atak geçirmemiş remisyon evresinde olan 18 - 65 yaş arası 104 hasta dâhil edilmiştir. Veriler, araştırmacı tarafından hazırlanan Görüşme Formu ile Ayrılık Kaygısı Belirti Envanteri (AKBE), Yetişkin Ayrılık Kaygısı Ölçeği (YAKÖ) ve Yaşam Kalitesi Ölçeği Kısa Form 36 (SF-36) kullanılarak toplanmıştır. Veriler bağımsız t testi, Kruskal Wallis, Mann Whitney U, ANOVA ve Pearson korelasyon testleri ile değerlendirilmişlerdir.BULGULAR: AKBE toplam puanı ile SF-36’nin fiziksel sağlık bileşenleri ve ruhsal sağlık (r=-0,30 p=0,001) alt boyut puanları arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı negatif yönde zayıf ilişki saptanmıştır. Amaç: Damgalanmaya karşı savunmasız sağlık çalışanlarının damgalanma deneyimleri ve COVID (+) olgulara yönelik yaklaşımlarını değerlendirmek amaçlanmıştır.Yöntem: Araştırmaya, çevrimiçi anket yöntemiyle 151 sağlık çalışanı alınmıştır. G*POWER 3.1.9.7 programıyla yapılan analizde, etki büyüklüğü 0,569, alfa 0,05 alındığında örneklem büyüklüğü 151, gücü 0,99 olarak belirlenmiştir. Veriler, “Tanımlayıcı Bilgi Formu”, “COVID-19 Tanılı Bireylere Yaklaşımlar Anketi” ile toplanmış; sayı ve yüzdelik dağılımlarla ifade edilmiştir. Anlamlı ilişkileri belirlemede ki-kare bağımsızlık testi kullanılmıştır.Bulgular: Katılımcıların yaş ortalaması 30,89±8,39, %68,2’si kadın, %59,6’sı hemşiredir. %66,9’u damgalandığını düşünse de sağlık çalışanı olmaları sebebiyle damgalananlar %22,5; COVID (+) hastalarla çalıştığı bilinen ortak alanlarda damgalananlar %47,7’dir. COVID (+) hastayla çalıştığı için damgalanmayla hastalığı gizleme arasında anlamlı fark bulunamamıştır. Sağlık çalışanı olduğu için dışlandığını düşünenler; COVID-19 olan bireylerin cahil, ihmalkar olduğunu bildirmişlerdir.Sonuç: Damgalanma deneyimleri, COVID (+) olan insanlara yönelik olumsuz duygu ve düşünceleri arttırmış ancak tedavi süreçlerinin profesyonel olarak sürdürülmesini engellememiştir. Sadece sağlık çalışanı olduğu için dışlandığını düşünen fakat damgalanmayanlar, içselleştirilmiş damgalanmayı düşündürmektedir ve ayrıntılı çalışmalara ihtiyaç duyulmaktadır.

Objective: This study aimed to retrospectively assess the hospital records of patients admitted to the emergency department of a training research hospital and diagnosed with a mental/psychiatric disorder. Material-Methods: In our study, medical records with pre-diagnosis of psychiatric disorder were scanned retrospectively in the electronic environment from the applications made to the emergency department of a training and research hospital in a one-year period covering 2017. The data were collected using a form prepared as per the current literature and developments. Using descriptive statistics, socio-demographic and health history characteristics and clinical diagnoses were evaluated. Results: It was determined that 84.04% of all patients that were admitted to the emergency department for mental health reasons were diagnosed with code F41 (other anxiety disorders), that 23.60% were in the 15-24 age group, and that 69.50% were female. The emergency department admission characteristics of the subjects were as follows: 10.60% of all admissions were made in July, 48.20% were made between 16:01-00:00, 5.00% were referred to psychiatric consultation, 93.60% received ambulatory follow-up, and 12.90% were admitted to the emergency department two or more times within one year. Conclusion: The most common diagnosis was “other anxiety disorders” and the majority of the patients were young adults and female. Since emergency departments are among the first places where individuals seek medical care for mental health, we believe that our results will help structure emergency psychiatric services.

Objective: In the present study, it was aimed to determine the changes in the mental states of hospital personnel at the beginning of COVID-19 pandemic, and the factors affecting these changes. Methods: The research sample consisted of 299 hospital personnel in Turkey, who could be reached with the online method. The data were collected using the “Information Form”, which was prepared in line with the literature and the pandemic process, “The Impact of Event Scale (IES)” and the “Depression-Anxiety-Stress Scale (DAS-21)”. Results: It was found that the sociodemographic characteristics, medical history, and the characteristics related to COVID-19 were effective on the participants in terms of their mental states and the way they perceived traumatic experiences. According to the multiple linear regression analyses, it was found that hyper arousal and reexperiencing predicted stress, anxiety, and depression with a rate of 58.5%, 59.0% and 60.6%, respectively. Conclusion: At the beginning of the pandemic, it was observed that the responses of frontline hospital employees to traumatic experiences affected their mental states. Psychiatric nurses should take an active role in the development and implementation of psychosocial support programs for hospital personnel. Bangladesh J Medicine July 2022; 33(1) : 19-26

Objectives: The measures taken by governments to prevent the spread of COVID-19 have changed millions of people’s daily lives. This study analyzes parents’ perceived stress and parent–child relationship while staying home due to lockdown during the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: The sample for this descriptive and cross-sectional study comprised 521 parents with children aged 4–18 years. Data were collected online using a Personal Information Form, the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS-4), and Child Parent Relationship Scale (CPRS) between 2 and 27 April 2020 in Turkey. Findings: The mean age of the study participants was 38.98±6.578 years, and 53.2% of participants were female. The parents’ mean PSS-4 and CPRS scores were 8.45±2.37 and 53.62±11.71, respectively. Of the parents, 44.0% stated that the days spent in the “Staying Home” period strengthened their relationships with their children, and 56.4% thought that it had provided them with the opportunity to take better care of their child. Mothers’ mean CPRS conflict scores were significantly higher than those of the fathers, and a negative relationship was found between the PSS-4 and CPRS positive-relationship sub-dimensions. Conclusion: Psychosocially supporting interventions should be planned for parents, especially mothers, who hold the most responsibility concerning housework and childcare during situations affecting the life adversely. Aim This study aims to evaluate the disability, insight and self-care agency of schizophrenia patients. Design and method This descriptive study was conducted with 100 patients in remission who had a diagnosis of schizophrenia at community mental health centers. Results The schizophrenia patients had poor insight and moderate self-care agency. The self-care agency of schizophrenia patients is a neglected issue in medicine, and is associated with positive and negative symptoms, insight and disability. Implementation results The results can guide community mental health center nurses to increase the quality of life of schizophrenia patients in remission and to help reintegrate them into society.

PURPOSE This study aims to examine the effects of activity groups using art activities on resilience and related factors in mothers with disabled children. DESIGN AND METHODS This randomized controlled experimental design study was conducted with 33 mothers (18 in the control and 15 in the intervention group). FINDINGS A statistically significant difference was found between the intervention group's pretest and posttest mean scores on the Resilience Scale for Adults, the Satisfaction with Life Scale, Zarit Burden Interview, and 12-item General Health Questionnaire scales. IMPLICATIONS FOR NURSING PRACTICE The psychological activity groups that used art activities were found to increase psychological well-being and satisfaction with life among the families of disabled children with various types of distress (physical, psychological, economic, and social), as well as reducing their mothers' perceived caregiving burden.

Aim This study aims to examine the psychometric properties of the "Masculine Depression Scale" (MDS) in Turkish male university students. Design and method This methodological study was conducted with 337 male university students in 2018. Results Exploratory factor analysis (EFA) reduced the total item number from 44 to 18; the scale included two factors explaining 51.94% of the total variance. Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) showed standard regression coefficients between .59 and .75. The Cronbach's α values were .74 to .92 and item-total coefficients were 0.22 to 0.71. Implementation results The two-factor, 18-item MDS is appropriate to assess masculine depression properties in Turkish male university students.

Buaraştırma Karabük üniversitesi öğrencilerinde çocukluk çağı travmalarınınsuçluluk-utanç duyguları ve benlik saygısı ile ilişkisinin incelenmesi amacıylaplanlandı. Objective The postpartum period is a process that affects mothers and fathers mentally. In this systematic review, we aimed to investigate the literature on postpartum depression and elucidate the factors associated with depression in fathers/men; and eventually to draw attention to the subject. Methods A literature search was conducted between April-May 2019 including qualitative and quantitative research articles published between 2009-2019 in Pubmed, Science Direct, EBSCOhost, Turkish Psychiatric Index and Ulakbim Medical Databases. A total of 18 articles in English (n = 17) and Turkish (n = 1) were included. Results The majority of studies were quantitative (n=17) and 1 had a qualitative design. 22.2% were carried out in the Americas, 61.1% in Europe and 16.7% in Asia. In 16 of the studies, Edinburgh Postpartum Depression Scale was used to diagnose postpartum depression in fathers, and 4 of them assessed psychometric properties. According to the results of the findings, unemployment, age, economic status and social support were among the factors affecting postpartum depression in fathers. Conclusion Besides the factors affecting the mothers such as age, education, social support, whether the pregnancy was planned, parenting stress, parental stress/sense of competence, quality of the relationship with the spouse, history of depression, number of people living at home; factors such as housing status, economic situation and unemployment affect postnatal depression in fathers. Since there was only one research article from Turkey, we believe that there is a need for research on this subject in our country.

Oz: Bu calisma, ozel gereksinimi olan cocuklarin ailelerinde umutsuzluk duzeyinin saptanmasi, umutsuzluk ile ilgili oldugu dusunulen bazi degiskenlerin incelenmesi ve umutsuzluk ile depresyon arasindaki iliskinin degerlendirilmesi amaci ile yapilmistir. Calisma, Sakarya ilindeki ozel egitim kurumlarinda egitim goren ozel gereksinimi olan cocuklarin ebeveynleri uzerinde yapilmistir. Calisma suresince Sakarya ilindeki ozel egitim kurumlarina muracaat eden ve calismaya katilmayi kabul eden toplam 109 aile calisma grubunu olusturdu. Calismanin amacina uygun olarak hazirlanmis gorusme formu, Beck Depresyon ve Umutsuzluk Olcekleri gozlem altinda aileler tarafindan dolduruldu. Bu calismada depresyon suphesi sikligi %36.7 olarak saptanmistir. Depresyon Olceginden alinan puanlar ile Umutsuzluk Olceginden alinan puanlar arasinda pozitif yonde bir iliski saptanmistir (r=0.451; p=0.000). Ozel gereksinimi olan cocuklarin ailelerinde umutsuzluk onemli bir ruh sagligi sorunudur. Umutsuzlukla iliskili degistirilebilir oldugu bilinen faktorlerle ilgili olarak cozumler bulunmasi icin daha kapsamli calismalar yapilmasi, depresyon suphesi olanlarin saptanmasi icin koruyucu ruh sagligi hizmetlerinin yayginlastirilmasi yararli olacaktir.

Amac Bu calismada universite ogrencilerinde internet kullanim sikligi, problemli internet kullanimi ile sosyodemografi k ozellikler, genel psikiyatrik belirtiler ve sosyal kaygi bozuklugu arasinda iliskinin incelenmesi amaclanmistir. Gerec ve Yontemler: Kesitsel tipte olan bu arastirmanin evrenini 2014-2015 ogretim yilinda Yalova Universitesi’nde okuyan ogrenciler olusturmaktadir. Orneklem seciminde tabakali rastgele ornekleme yontemi kullanilmistir. Arastirmaya katilmayi kabul eden ogrencilere, sosyodemografi k veri formu, Belirti Tarama Testi (SCL-90), Liebowitz Sosyal Kaygi Olcegi ve Problemli Internet Kullanim Olcegi verilerek doldurmalari istenmistir. Bulgular: Arastirmaya 510 ogrenci katilmistir. Calismaya katilan ogrencilerin %50,7’si kadin %49,3’u erkektir. Calisma grubu 1,2,3 ve 4. sinifl ardan olusmustur. Ogrencilerin %34,5’i interneti gunde 2-4 saat arasi, %28,4'si 4-6 saat arasi, %18,8’i 6 saat ve ustu kullandigini beyan etmistir. Objective: Knowing the personality traits of employees can help to determine their performances. In this study, it was aimed to examine the relationship between personality traits and individual performance standards of nurses.Methods: The study was a descriptive research. The sample size of the study consisted of 171 nurses who agreed to participate to the research. Eysenck Personality Questionnaire Revised/Abbreviated Form (EPQR-A), Quality of Nursing Work Life Scale and Interview form were used. Descriptive statistics were given as mean, standard deviation, frequency, percentage, minimum and maximum. Non parametric comparisons were made by Mann Whitney U test and Kruskal Wallis test. Values of p < 0.05 were considered statistically significant.Results: It was found statistically significant negative and weak correlations between work/working environment and neuroticism sub-dimensions (p=0,05, r= -0,145). There was negative and weak correlation between support services and psychotics sub-dimensions (p=0,01, r= -0,187).Conclusions: : This research has shown that personality traits and job performance are affected by each other., Amaç: Çalışanların kişilik özelliklerini bilmek, mesleklerinde sergilemiş oldukları performansı tespit etmeye yardımcı olabilmektedir. İstatistiksel anlamlılık değeri p < 0.05 kabul edilmiştir.Bulgular: İş/ çalışma ortamı ve nörotisizm alt boyutları arasında anlamlı negatif yönde ve zayıf korelasyon bulunmuştur (p=0,05, r=-0,145). Destek hizmetler ile psikotisizm alt boyutları arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı negatif yönde zayıf ilişki olduğu görülmüştür(p=0,01,r= -0,187).Sonuç: Bu araştırma, kişilik özellikleri ve iş performansının birbirlerinden etkilendiğini göstermiştir.

Introduction: Although the beneficial effects of a healthy diet and increased physical activity are well-known, it is not always easy to follow such a lifestyle. In this study, eating habits and physical activity of the healthy adult population in Istanbul province were investigated.Materials and Methods: A total of 202 subjects who underwent a health check-up program were enrolled in our study. The demographic characteristics and exercise habits of the subjects were recorded. All participants filled out a self-administered questionnaire to determine their dietary profile. Biochemical analysis, complete physical examination, electrocardiogram, and 2-D echocardiography of each subject were performed.Results: The mean age, weight, height, and BMI of the study population were 40.05±11.76 years, 72.9±15.31 kg, 167.6±9.2 cm, and 25.73±5.12 kg/m², respectively. The prevalence of high LDL, TG, and low HDL were 32.6%, 40.6%, and 49.5%, respectively. The majority (57.9%) of the subjects consumed >5 gr/day salt daily. Objectives: To develop a valid and reliable measurement tool to determine the anxiety level of pregnant women in labor. Methods : This study is a methodological research for developing an Anxiety Assessment Scale for Pregnant Women in Labor (AASPWL) and descriptive research for determining the anxiety level of pregnant women in labor. This study included a total of 269 pregnant women from the delivery room of a training and research hospital between November 2016 and July 2017. The study consists of 2 stages: the first stage includes scale content, construct validity, and reliability; the second stage involves examination of the relationship and effects by establishing a model with the Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI). Results : Construct validity was established using a confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) and an exploratory factor analysis (EFA). Cronbach’s alpha value was calculated to be 0.77 for the reliability of the developed AASPWL. Conclusion : The AASPWL is a reliable and valid scale that can be used to assess the anxiety level of women in labor. Ozet: Calisma sizofrenisi olan hastalarin yakinlarinin sizofreniye iliskin inanc ve tutumlarini belirlemek amaciyla yapildi. Arastirma, Sakarya Toplum Ruh Sagligi Merkezi, Sakarya Egitim Arastirma Hastanesi Merkez ve Korucuk Kampusleri ve Sakarya Buyuksehir Belediyesi Psikiyatri Polikliniklerine, Mayis 2010- Aralik 2011 tarihleri arasinda, sizofreni tanisiyla basvuran ve tedavi edilen toplam 101 hastanin yakinina, Ruhsal Hastaliklarda Tutum projesi icin gelistirilen anket formu (PAREM) uygulanarak gerceklestirilmistir. Sizofreni olgusu tanimlanarak verildiginde, hasta yakinlarinin %99’u ruhsal bir hastalik oldugunu ifade etmistir. Sizofrenin etiyolojisi sorgulandiginda %73.3’ u sosyal sorunlarin, %71.3’ u ise kisilik zayifliginin sizofreniye yol actigini belirtti. Hasta yakinlarinin buyuk cogunlugu (%83.2) sizofreninin tedavi edilebilir bir hastalik oldugunu dusunmekteydi. Sosyal mesafe ile ilgili sorular incelendiginde %83.2’ si sizofrenlerin saldirgan oldugunu, %79.2’ si sizofren bir kisiyle evlenmeyecegini, %63.4’u de evini bir sizofrene kiraya vermeyecegini ifade etmislerdir. Aim: The object of the study is to determine the relationship of orthorexic tendencies with the eating attitude and obsessive symptoms. Method: This descriptive type study was conducted on 289 people aged 18-65, who applied to 6 family health centres in Sakarya Province between January 2016 and August 2016. An Interview Form, the Orto-15 test, the Eating Attitude Test, and the Maudsley Obsessive Compulsive Inventory were used as data collection tools. For the evaluation of the data, either parametric or nonparametric measurements were used in accordance with the distribution of the total scale scores. Results: 56.1% of the participants are female and 43.9% are male. The age average of women is 33.12±13.53 and the age average of men is 31.45±13.12. It was detected that men tend to have a statistically more orthorexic tendency compared to women. In our study, there is a weak negative correlation between the ideal weight that men want to be and their ORTO-15 scores. There is a weak negative correlation between ORTO-15 and EAT scores in women and men. When ORTO-15 test was compared with MOCI scores, there is a weak negative correlation between ORTO-15 and MOCI suspicion sub-dimension among women. Conclusion: As a result of the study, it is seen that especially men tend to have more orthorexic tendency than women and that the desire to reach ideal weight has an effect on healthy eating obsession in men. We can also say that obsessive characteristics among women are related to orthorexic tendencies, especially in the context of skepticism. Sonuc: Calisma sonucunda ozellikle erkeklerin kadinlara gore daha ortorektik egilim gosterdikleri, ideal kiloya ulasma isteginin erkeklerde saglikli yeme takintisi uzerinde etkili oldugu gorulmektedir. Kadinlar arasinda obsesif ozelliklerin ozellikle kuskuculuk boyutu konusunda ortorektik egilimlerle iliskili oldugunu soyleyebiliriz. Ortorektik egilimler altinda mukemmelliyetci ve rijit kisilik ozelliklerinin oldugu gorulmektedir.
