The Murrah buffalo is a breed of dairy-type river buffalo that has better milk production than the Mud buffalo. In West Sumatra, buffaloes are generally kept traditionally and the feed provided is low-quality field grass without providing concentrate so that productivity has not shown good results. This increase in productivity can be done through improving maintenance management and improving the quality of the feed given to buffaloes. Community service is an activity that aims to provide knowledge in technological innovation to breeders in the form of providing probiotics and the use of local forage feeds, especially cassava leaves as supplementary feed for buffaloes to increase production and quality of buffalo milk in order to increase farmers' income, while the specific target is expected to foster community self-reliance. in an effort to use local forage as animal feed. The method applied is counseling, training/pilots and discussion are the best ways to transfer knowledge and technology to farmers, while guidance and coaching can be done periodically through coordination with the head of the Kelok Rambai Cattle Farmer's group, Nagari Kapau, Tilatang Kamang District, Agam Regency. is the only livestock group in Kab. Agam who raises Murrah buffalo as a producer of curd. The results obtained were an increase in milk production 3.25 vs 4.75 l/day and milk quality: fat 5.47 vs 6.26%, Protein 4.35 vs 5.60%, SNF 10.76 vs 11.85% and water content 82.20 vs 81.75%. The conclusion of this activity is that the provision of probiotics and cassava leaf pellet supplement feed can increase the production and quality of Murrah buffalo milk and increase the income of farmers.

Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan produksi susu ternak kerbau dengan perbaikan manajemen pakan melalui penerapan Ipteks, bermuara pada perbaikan pendapatan anggota kelompok peternak. Program ini dilaksanakan pada Kelompok Tani Tenak Sapi Kelok Rambai Nagari Kapau Kecamatan Tilatang Kamang Kabupaten Agam. Kelompok tani ini mendapat bantuan dari pemerintah Provinsi Sumatera Barat 15 ekor kerbau Murrah sebagai penghasil susu, dimana susu yang dihasilkan difermentasi menjadi dadih. Pola pemeliharaannya semi intensif dan pakan yang diberikan tidak memadai baik secara kuantitas maupun kualitas serta minimnya pengetahuan peternak sehingga produktivitas ternak kerbau masih rendah. Metode kegiatan yang dilakukan adalah pemberdayaan masyarakat partisipatif meliputi penyuluhan, pelatihan, pembinaan, diskusi serta evaluasi/monitoring. Percontohan teknologi pakan yang diintroduksikan adalah pakan suplemen multi nutrient yaitu Urea Saka Blok, dan jerami padi amoniasi urea sebagai bahan pakan serat berkualitas. Penanaman leguminosa yaitu Indigofera yang dapat dijadikan green konsentrat karena kandungan proteinnya tinggi. Hasil penggunaan jerami padi amoniasi yang disuplementasikan dengan Urea Saka Blok, meningkatkan konsumsi pakan yang significant dari rata-rata 2.5% menjadi 2,75% dari bobot badan atau naik sebesar 0,25%. Kenaikan konsumsi pakan beimplikasi terhadap produksi susu yang pada awalnya 2 liter/hari, naik menjadi 3liter/hari atau naik sekitar 50%, dan yang cukup menarik adalah sampai bulan ke 10 laktasi produksi susu masih tetap 3 liter per hari. Diharapkan dari kegiatan ini dapat meningkatkan pedapatan anggota kelompok, menerapkan manajemen pemeliharaan yang baik, peningkatan motivasi, mengaplikasikan teknologi pakan yang diintroduksikan secara berkelanjutan dan menjadikan nagari Kapau sebagai salah satu sentra peternakan kerbau Murrah penghasil susu/dadih di Sumatera Barat.

Nagari Kapau is one of the villages located in Tilatang Kamang District, Agam Regency, West Sumatra. Nagari Kapau has an area of about 524 ha. This Nagari is one of the three smallest villages in the Tilatang Kamang District, with an average rainfall of 123.4 mm/year and an average temperature of 21-25oC. Seeing this condition, Nagari Kapau can be used as one of the villages to develop dairy-type buffaloes, especially Murrah buffalo. This activity aims to improve maintenance management and improve Murrah buffalo farmers' income with the application of good management and the application of science and technology and research results to develop independent businesses. This activity was carried out in the Tenak Kelok Rambai Nagari Kapau Group, Tilatang Kamang District, Agam Regency. The Kelok Rambai Cattle Farmer Group is a group of livestock that raises Murrah buffalo but has not implemented good maintenance management. Maintenance management that has not been appropriately managed and farmers' lack of knowledge are the main obstacles faced at the service location. The productivity of Murrah buffalo is still very low. The activities carried out are participatory community empowerment, including counseling, training/pilots, guidance/guidance, discussion/consultation, and evaluation/monitoring. The activities at the Kelok Rambai Cattle Farmer Group can increase income for group members, apply good maintenance management, increase motivation, use appropriate technology, and make Nagari Kapau one of the central Murrah buffalo farms producing milk and curd in West Sumatra.

Penelitian ini untuk menentukan rasio optimum penggunaan limbah jagung amoniasi dan konsentrat dalam ransum komplit ternak ruminansia berdasarkan parameter kecernaan secara in-vitro. Empat formula ransum komplit tersebut adalah; R1= 20% limbah jagung amoniasi dan 80% konsentrat, R2= 40% limbah jagung amoniasi dan 60% konsentrat, R3= 60% limbah jagung amo­niasi dan 40% konsentrat dan R4= 80% limbah jagung amoniasi dan 20% konsentrat. Ke­cernaan ran­sum ditentukan setelah diinkubasi selama 48 jam dengan cairan rumen menurut teknik Tilley dan Terry (1969). Data dianalisis menggunakan rancangan acak kelompok. Parameter yang diukur adalah kecernaan bahan kering, bahan organik dan protein kasar, serta konsentrasi VFA dan NH 3 cairan rumen. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa kecernaan dan konsentrasi VFA dan NH 3 berbeda nyata (P 0,05). Disimpulkan bahwa 40% lim­bah jagung amoniasi dan 60% konsentrat yang lebih baik digunakan sebagai ransum komplit untuk ruminansia.

An experiment was conducted to evaluate the e ffect supplementation of mineral sulphur on the digestibility of ammoniated corn cobs ration. The objective of this experiment is to determine the optimum level of sulphur supplementation to in vitro digestibility of rations. Rations consisted of 50% ammoniated corn cobs and 50% concentrate. As treatments, was various levels of sulphur at 0, 0,13, 0,16, 0,21 and 0,32% of DM basis. Parameters measured included: digestibility of DM, OM, CP and fiber fractions. Data were statistically analyzed by variance analysis in a block randomized design. Results showed that the treatmen t s gave highly significant (P
