Abstract

Research was conducted to determine the existence of resonant magnetization tunneling in trigonal pyramidal molecule magnet Mn(super IV)Mn(super III)3 complex [Mn4O3Cl(O2CCH3)3(dbm)3]. The electronic structure of the complex was characterized using high-field EPR data. Results showed evidence for resonant tunneling as observed from ac susceptibility data and dc magnetization hysteresis loops.

Abstract

A study was conducted on resonant magnetization tunneling for a second single-molecule magnet, [Mn4O3Cl(O2CCH3)3(dbm)3] where dbm is the anion of dibenzoylmethane. The findings indicate that the out-of-phase ac signal is linked with isolated molecules. Moreover, a transverse component of the nuclear-spin magnetic field may result in resonant tunneling for an oriented collection of Mn4 molecules in zero external field.
