The DArk Matter Particle Explorer (DAMPE) is well suitable for searching for monochromatic and sharp $\gamma$-ray structures in the GeV$-$TeV range thanks to its unprecedented high energy resolution. In this work, we search for $\gamma$-ray line structures using five years of DAMPE data. To improve the sensitivity, we develop two types of dedicated data sets (including the BgoOnly data which is the first time to be used in the data analysis for the calorimeter-based gamma-ray observatories) and adopt the signal-to-noise ratio optimized regions of interest (ROIs) for different DM density profiles. No line signals or candidates are found between 10 and 300 GeV in the Galaxy. The constraints on the velocity-averaged cross section for $\chi\chi \to \gamma\gamma$ and the decay lifetime for $\chi \to \gamma\nu$, both at 95% confidence level, have been calculated and the systematic uncertainties have been taken into account. Comparing to the previous Fermi-LAT results, though DAMPE has an acceptance smaller by a factor of $\sim 10$, similar constraints on the DM parameters are achieved and below 100 GeV the lower limits on the decay lifetime are even stronger by a factor of a few. This study aimed to determine whether the prevalence of thyroid nodules (TNs) increased due to modern lifestyles or other factors, despite the advances in screening and diagnostic tools.This study included 3474 pairs of participants, who were matched by gender and age (±3 years) from two cross-sectional sampling surveys: (1) the program on the iodine nutritional status and related health status of residents in Shanghai in 2009; (2) the thyroid disease screening program for adults in Shanghai between 2017 and 2018. The prevalence of TNs and thyroid diseases in 2009 and 2017-2018 were compared, and the potential risk factors of TNs were detected.The prevalence of TNs in 2009 was 28.9%: 22.5% in males and 34.5% in females. In 2017, this increased to 43.8%: 37.9% in males and 49.1% in females. The prevalence of TNs significantly increased from 2009 to 2017 (odds ratio, 1.486; 95% confidence interval, 1.238-1.786). In addition, female gender, thyroid disease history, and age were the main risk factors for TNs after adjusting for confounders in the logistic regression across the time period.The prevalence of TNs significantly increased across nearly 10 years in Shanghai.

The development of safe and effective vaccines to respond to COVID-19 pandemic/endemic remains a priority. We developed a novel subunit protein-peptide COVID-19 vaccine candidate (UB-612) composed of: (i) receptor binding domain of SARS-CoV-2 spike protein fused to a modified single-chain human IgG1 Fc; (ii) five synthetic peptides incorporating conserved helper and cytotoxic T lymphocyte (Th/CTL) epitopes derived from SARS-CoV-2 structural proteins (three from S2 subunit, one from membrane and one from nucleocapsid), and one universal Th peptide; (iii) aluminum phosphate as adjuvant. The immunogenicity and protective immunity induced by UB-612 vaccine were evaluated in four animal models: Sprague–Dawley rats, AAV-hACE2 transduced BALB/c mice, rhesus and cynomolgus macaques. UB-612 vaccine induced high levels of neutralizing antibody and T-cell responses, in all animals. The immune sera from vaccinated animals neutralized the SARS-CoV-2 original wild-type strains and multiple variants of concern, including Delta and Omicron. The vaccination significantly reduced viral loads, lung pathology scores, and disease progression after intranasal and intratracheal challenge with SARS-CoV-2 in mice, rhesus and cynomolgus macaques. UB-612 has been tested in primary regimens in Phase 1 and Phase 2 clinical studies and is currently being evaluated in a global pivotal Phase 3 clinical study as a single dose heterologous booster.

This study develops a spiral wound scaffold based on gelatin/PCL/heparin (GPH) nanofiber membranes for tendon tissue engineering. By embedding sutures in dual layers of aligned GPH nanofiber membranes, prepared from mixed electrospinning of gelatin and PCL/heparin solutions, we fabricate a high resilience scaffold intended for the high loading environment experienced by tendons. The basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF) was anchored to GPH scaffold through bioaffinity between heparin and bFGF, aim to provide biological cues for maintenance of tenogenic phenotype. In addition, the aligned nanofiber morphology is expected to provide physical cues toward seeded tenocytes. With sustained release of bFGF, GPH-bFGF can enhance proliferation, up-regulate tenogenic gene expression, and increase synthesis of tendon-specific proteins by tenocytes in vitro. Furthermore, by properly maintaining tendon phenotypes, GPH-bFGF/tenocytes constructs showed improved mechanical properties over GPH-bFGF. From in vivo study using GPH-bFGF/tenocytes constructs to repair rabbit Achilles tendon defects, neotendon tissue formation was confirmed from histological staining and biomechanical analysis. These findings collectively demonstrate that the newly designed GPH-bFGF scaffold could provide a niche for inducing tendon tissue regeneration by effectively restoring the tendon tissue structure and function.

Ru and Mo bimetallic catalysts supported on active carbon modified by Phosphotungstic acid (PW) were designed and applied in glycerol hydrogenolysis reaction. The physicochemical properties of the catalysts were characterized and the presence of active sites was investigated from the perspective of the glycerol hydrogenolysis performance. The MoOx is highly selective for the C-O bond cleavage of glycerol molecules, which can reasonably regulate the strong C-C bond cleavage activity of Ru nanoparticles. By using sequential deposition of Ru and Mo supported on mesoporous PW-C, the characterization results show that the combination of isolated low-valence MoOx with metal Ru particles can form “MoOx-Ru-PW”, which provides highly catalytic activity toward C-O bond cleavage, selectively producing more C3 alcohols (mainly 1,2(3)-propanediol). The glycerol conversion of 1 % Mo/Ru/PW-C catalyst was 59.6 %, the selectivity of C3 alcohol was 96.1 %, and the selectivity of propanediol (1,2(3)-propanediol) was 94.9 %. It is noteworthy that the selectivity of 1,3-propanediol reached 20.7 % when the PW was 21.07 % (mass). This study provides experimental evidence for the tandem dehydration and hydrogenation mechanism of the multifunctional Mo/Ru/PW-C catalyst.

Glycoproteomic analysis of three Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) suspension host cell lines (CHO-K1, CHO-S, and CHO-Pro5) commonly utilized in biopharmaceutical settings for recombinant protein production is reported. Intracellular and secreted glycoproteins were examined. We utilized an immobilization and chemoenzymatic strategy in our analysis. Glycoproteins or glycopeptides were first immobilized through reductive amination, and the sialyl moieties were amidated for protection. The desired N- or O-glycans and glycopeptides were released from the immobilization resin by enzymatic or chemical digestion. Glycopeptides were studied by Orbitrap Liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC/MS), and the released glycans were analyzed by Matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization-time of flight (MALDI-TOF). Differences were detected in the relative abundances of N- and O-glycopeptide types, their resident and released glycans, and their glycoprotein complexity. Ontogeny analysis revealed key differences in features, such as general metabolic and biosynthetic pathways, including glycosylation systems, as well as distributions in cellular compartments. Host cell lines and subfraction differences were observed in both N- and O-glycan and glycoprotein pools. Differences were observed in sialyl and fucosyl glycan distributions. Key differences were also observed among glycoproteins that are problematic contaminants in recombinant antibody production. The differences revealed in this study should inform the choice of cell lines best suited for a particular bioproduction application.

Speech emotion recognition (SER) has been a popular research topic in human-computer interaction (HCI). As edge devices are rapidly springing up, applying SER to edge devices is promising for a huge number of HCI applications. Although deep learning has been investigated to improve the performance of SER by training complex models, the memory space and computational capability of edge devices represents a constraint for embedding deep learning models. We propose a neural structured learning (NSL) framework through building synthesized graphs. An SER model is trained on a source dataset and used to build graphs on a target dataset. A relatively lightweight model is then trained with the speech samples and graphs together as the input. Our experiments demonstrate that training a lightweight SER model on the target dataset with speech samples and graphs can not only produce small SER models, but also enhance the model performance compared to models with speech samples only and those using classic transfer learning strategies., Accepted by ICASSP 2023

Background The aim of this study is to investigate role of Visfatin, one of the pro-inflammatory adipokines, in sepsis-induced intestinal injury and to clarify the potential mechanism. Methods C57BL/6 mice underwent cecal ligation and puncture (CLP) surgery to establish sepsis model in vivo. Intestinal epithelial cells were stimulated with LPS to mimic sepsis-induced intestinal injury in vitro. FK866 (the inhibitor of Visfatin) with or without XMU-MP-1 (the inhibitor of Hippo signaling) was applied for treatment. The expression levels of Visfatin, NF-κB and Hippo signaling pathways-related proteins were detected by western blot or immunohistochemistry. The intestinal cell apoptosis and intestinal injury were investigated by TUNEL staining and H&E staining, respectively. ELISA was used to determine the production of inflammatory cytokines. Results The expression of Visfatin increased in CLP mice. FK866 reduced intestinal pathological injury, inflammatory cytokines production, and intestinal cell apoptosis in sepsis mice. Meanwhile, FK866 affected NF-κB and Hippo signaling pathways. Additionally, the effects of FK866 on inflammatory response, apoptosis, Hippo signaling and NF-κB signaling were partly abolished by XMU-MP-1, the inhibitor of Hippo signaling. In vitro experiments also revealed that FK866 exhibited a protective role against LPS-induced inflammatory response and apoptosis in intestinal cells, as well as regulating NF-κB and Hippo signaling, whereas addition of XMU-MP-1 weakened the protective effects of FK866. Conclusion In short, this study demonstrated that inhibition of Visfatin might alleviate sepsis-induced intestinal injury through Hippo signaling pathway, supporting a further research on Visfatin as a therapeutic target.

There has been an increase interest in knowing and enacting pedagogical approaches such as the Constraints-led Approach (CLA) and Nonlinear Pedagogy (NLP) which are underpinned by Ecological Dynamics in recent years among practitioners. While there seems to be a perceived uptake of such pedagogical approaches that encourages exploratory learning and the development of individualised movement solutions, there are still concerns on how these pedagogical approaches are enacted on the ground. In this paper, we the authors, as “pracademics”, attempted to address some of the common concerns that we are aware of from our regular interactions with academics and practitioners. In brief, we highlighted some of the common challenges related to sense making concepts from Ecological Dynamics and building connections to practice. We stressed the need to invest time to think differently to create representative learning environment, rethink how assessment is to be done, finding a balance between theoretical jargon and practical application as well as intentionally situating coach development and support. We may not have all the answers, but we hope this paper could provide a useful starting point on how to apply Ecological Dynamics Theory to practice design.

Periodontitis is a chronic inflammatory disease caused by Porphyromonas gingivalis and other bacteria, and human periodontal ligament stem cells (hPDLSCs) are a promising candidate for the treatment of periodontal supporting tissue defects. This study aimed to investigate the effect of 1α,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3 [1,25(OH)2VitD3] on osteogenic differentiation of hPDLSCs in an in vitro periodontitis model and whether it can improve inflammatory status. hPDLSCs were in vitro isolated and identified. After treatment with 1,25(OH)2VitD3 and ultrapure pure Porphyromonas gingivalis lipopolysaccharide (LPS-G), the viability of hPDLSCs was detected using Cell Counting Kit-8, the expressions of osteogenic markers and inflammatory genes using Western blotting and quantitative reverse transcription PCR (qRT-PCR), the levels of inflammatory factors in cells using enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), and the fluorescence signal intensity of osteoblastic markers and inflammatory genes in cells using immunofluorescence assay. It was found that 1,25(OH)2VitD3 reversed the inhibition of hPDLSCs proliferation by LPS-G; LPS-G exhibited inhibitory effect on ALP, Runx2, and OPN expressions, and such inhibitory effect was significantly weakened when co-acting with 1,25(OH)2VitD3. Meanwhile, LPS-G upregulated the expressions of inflammatory genes IL-1β and Casp1, whereas 1,25(OH)2VitD3 antagonized such an effect and improved the inflammatory status. In conclusion, 1,25(OH)2VitD3 can reverse the inhibitory effect of LPS-G on hPDLSCs proliferation and osteogenic differentiation and suppress LPS-G-induced upregulation of inflammatory gene expressions.

The present study investigated the association between the presence of periodontitis and aortic calcification (AC) risk among Chinese adults. A total of 6059 individuals who underwent regular health check-ups and received a diagnosis of periodontitis between 2009 and 2016 were included. The outcome was AC, assessed by a chest low-dose spiral CT scan. Cox proportional hazards regression analysis was used to assess the association between periodontitis and AC risk after adjusting for several confounders. After a median follow-up period of 2.3 years (interquartile range: 1.03–4.97 years), 843 cases of AC were identified, with 532 (12.13%) and 311 (18.59%) patients in the non-periodontitis group and periodontitis group, respectively. Multivariate analyses demonstrated that, compared with those without periodontitis, the hazard ratio and 95% confidence interval for AC risk in participants with periodontitis was 1.18 (1.02–1.36) ( P = .025) in the fully adjusted model. Stratified analyses showed that the positive relationship between periodontitis and AC was more evident in males and participants interaction = .005 and .004, respectively). Our results show that the presence of periodontitis was positively associated with AC among Chinese adults, especially among males and younger participants.

Many regulators controlling arterial identity are well described; however, transcription factors that promote vein identity and vascular patterning have remained largely unknown. We previously identified the transcription factors Islet2 (Isl2) and Nr2f1b required for specification of the vein and tip cell identity mediated by notch pathway in zebrafish. However, the interaction between Isl2 and Nr2f1b is not known. In this study, we report that Nr2f2 plays minor roles on vein and intersegmental vessels (ISV) growth and dissect the genetic interactions among the three transcription factors Isl2, Nr2f1b, and Nr2f2 using a combinatorial knockdown strategy. The double knockdown of isl2/nr2f1b, isl2/nr2f2, and nr2f1b/nr2f2 showed the enhanced defects in vasculature including less completed ISV, reduced veins, and ISV cells. We further tested the genetic relationship among these three transcription factors. We found isl2 can regulate the expression of nr2f1b and nr2f2, suggesting a model where Isl2 functions upstream of Nr2f1b and Nr2f2. We hypothsized that Isl2 and Nr2f1b can function together through cis-regulatory binding motifs. In-vitro luciferase assay results, we showed that Isl2 and Nr2f1b can cooperatively enhance gene expression. Moreover, co-immunoprecipitation results indicated that Isl2 and Nr2f1b interact physically. Together, we showed that the interaction of the Nr2f1b and Nr2f2 transcription factors in combination with the Islet2 play coordinated roles in the vascular development of zebrafish.

Expired foods turning into waste has always been an important issue. In Taiwan, more than 36,000 metric tons of unopened expired food, worth more than $130 million, are thrown away from retail stores as waste each year. Insufficient inventory results in the loss of business prospects for retailers, whilst excessive inventory results in abandoned merchandise. Foods with a short shelf life are particularly vulnerable. Typically, food producer and retailer would form team merchandising (MD). The team MD mechanism is responsible for ensuring safety and quality, not for forecasting demand. This study uses artificial neural networks (ANNs) to analyze sales data to forecasting purchase volume in response to changes in store environment, weather, events, and consumer attributes. The study object is a sort of cream puff with a short shelf life cobranded by a retailer. According to the experimental results, the adopted proposed model in this study effectively reduces the error in purchasing; the mean-square percentage error (MSPE) of the forecast values is less than 6%. The importance of this study is on promoting the team MD’s green energy management capabilities in food production and verifiably achieving the goal of environmental sustainability.

Major civil and military infrastructures are usually located in mountainous areas with complex geological structures. When subjected to impact loads caused by operational blasting or seismic activities, the inherent flaws or joints in the hosting rock mass may grow irreversibly and eventually and cause the entire structure to collapse. It is, therefore, desirable to understand the mechanical and cracking behaviors of flawed rock structures under dynamic loads. In this work, the cement mortar is used to make the plate specimens, and two different types of flaws, i.e., the open and the closed (resin-filled) flaws, with different inclination angles from 0° to 90° with respect to the loading direction are prefabricated. The nominal strength, crack initiation, and failure characteristics of the specimens under different loading rates are investigated using the split Hopkinson bar (SHPB) system in conjunction with the digital image correlation (DIC) technique. The results indicate that the dynamic nominal strength of both two types of specimens shows similar loading rate and flaw angle dependency, specifically, monotonically increasing with the increase of the loading rate while increasing first and then decreasing with increasing the flaw inclination angle. The strength of specimens with an open flaw is obviously lower than that of the specimens with a closed flaw at a similar loading rate. Besides, the failure mode of specimens with an open flaw is mainly an X-shaped tensile or tensile-shear mixed form regardless of the flaw inclination, whereas the resin-filled flawed specimens always fail in the form of an atypical X-shaped shear pattern with obvious randomness. Moreover, the stress field around the crack tip is carefully extracted based on the obtained displacement field from DIC analysis; the stress intensity factors at crack initiation onset also show flaw inclination- and loading rate-dependent behavior. The strength, cracking behavior, and stress field around the tip during the dynamic loading are closely related to the friction effect between the flaw surfaces. The findings in this work provide some basic insights into the cracking mechanism of rock with open and closed flaws under dynamic loading conditions.

BackgroundUnderstanding neural connections facilitates the neuroscience and cognitive behavioral research. There are many nerve fiber intersections in the brain that need to be observed, and the size is between 30 and 50 nanometers. Improving image resolution has become an important issue for mapping the neural connections non-invasively. Generalized q-sampling imaging (GQI) was used to reveal the fiber geometry of straight and crossing. In this work, we attempted to achieve super-resolution with a deep learning method on diffusion weighted imaging (DWI).Materials and methodsA three-dimensional super-resolution convolutional neural network (3D SRCNN) was utilized to achieve super-resolution on DWI. Then, generalized fractional anisotropy (GFA), normalized quantitative anisotropy (NQA), and the isotropic value of the orientation distribution function (ISO) mapping were reconstructed using GQI with super-resolution DWI. We also reconstructed the orientation distribution function (ODF) of brain fibers using GQI.ResultsWith the proposed super-resolution method, the reconstructed DWI was closer to the target image than the interpolation method. The peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR) and structural similarity index measure (SSIM) were also significantly improved. The diffusion index mapping reconstructed by GQI also had higher performance. The ventricles and white matter regions were much clearer.ConclusionThis super-resolution method can assist in postprocessing low-resolution images. With SRCNN, high-resolution images can be effectively and accurately generated. The method can clearly reconstruct the intersection structure in the brain connectome and has the potential to accurately describe the fiber geometry on a subvoxel scale.

DNA hydroxymethylation (5hmC) is the most abundant oxidative derivative of DNA methylation (5mC) and is typically enriched at enhancers and gene bodies of transcriptionally active and tissue-specific genes. Although aberrant genomic 5hmC has been implicated in many age-related diseases, the functional role of the modification in aging remains largely unknown. Here, we report that 5hmC is stably enriched in multiple aged organs. Using the liver and cerebellum as model organs, we show that 5hmC accumulates in gene bodies associated with tissue-specific function and thereby restricts the magnitude of gene expression changes during aging. Mechanistically, we found that 5hmC decreases binding affinity of splicing factors compared to unmodified cytosine and 5mC, and is correlated with age-related alternative splicing events, suggesting RNA splicing as a potential mediator of 5hmC’s transcriptionally restrictive function. Furthermore, we show that various age-related contexts, such as prolonged quiescence and senescence, are partially responsible for driving the accumulation of 5hmC with age. We provide evidence that this age-related function is conserved in mouse and human tissues, and further show that the modification is altered by regimens known to modulate lifespan. Our findings reveal that 5hmC is a regulator of tissue-specific function and may play a role in regulating longevity.

BackgroundThe aim of our study was to externally validate the predictive capability of five developed coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19)-specific prognostic tools, including the COVID-19 Spanish Society of Infectious Diseases and Clinical Microbiology (SEIMC), Shang COVID severity score, COVID-intubation risk score-neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio (IRS-NLR), inflammation-based score, and ventilation in COVID estimator (VICE) score.MethodsThe medical records of all patients hospitalized for a laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 diagnosis between May 2021 and June 2021 were retrospectively analyzed. Data were extracted within the first 24 h of admission, and five different scores were calculated. The primary and secondary outcomes were 30-day mortality and mechanical ventilation, respectively.ResultsA total of 285 patients were enrolled in our cohort. Sixty-five patients (22.8%) were intubated with ventilator support, and the 30-day mortality rate was 8.8%. The Shang COVID severity score had the highest numerical area under the receiver operator characteristic (AUC-ROC) (AUC 0.836) curve to predict 30-day mortality, followed by the SEIMC score (AUC 0.807) and VICE score (AUC 0.804). For intubation, both the VICE and COVID-IRS-NLR scores had the highest AUC (AUC 0.82) compared to the inflammation-based score (AUC 0.69). The 30-day mortality increased steadily according to higher Shang COVID severity scores and SEIMC scores. The intubation rate exceeded 50% in the patients stratified by higher VICE scores and COVID-IRS-NLR score quintiles.ConclusionThe discriminative performances of the SEIMC score and Shang COVID severity score are good for predicting the 30-day mortality of hospitalized COVID-19 patients. The COVID-IRS-NLR and VICE showed good performance for predicting invasive mechanical ventilation (IMV).

The objective of this study was to investigate the efficacy of whey bioconversion products (WBP) with Enterococcus faecalis M157 KACC81148BP on the improvement of periodontitis. Effects of whey bioconversion products (M157) produced by Enterococcus faecalis M157 KACC81148BP and M157 supplemented with bacteriocin active fraction (M157+) on the periodontal disease were examined in the animal models. In addition, the actions of M157 and M157 + were also examined. Cytotoxicity and hemolysis of M157 and M157 + were examined.M157 and M157 + decreased epithelial proliferation, bone surface/bone volume (BS/BV), bone loss volume, and increased bone volume/total volume (BV/TV) in the periodontal tissues. Periodontitis-induced rats treated with M157 and M157 + showed improved anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects in protein expression levels. M157 and M157 + did not show cytotoxicity and hemolysis. These results indicate that both WBP by E. faecalis M157 KACC81148BP and the WBP supplemented with bacteriocin active fraction have beneficial properties for alleviating symptoms of periodontitis.

Efficient, low-cost methods are required to produce impurity-free bio-oils with minimal nutrient depletion. This study investigated the effect of extraction and pretreatment conditions on the quality of rice bran oil extracted with CO2-expanded hexane. The extraction conditions considered were temperature (20–30 °C), CO2 mole fraction (0.76–0.94), and pressure (4.2–7.0 MPa). The effectiveness of rice bran hot air drying at 80–100 °C for 0.5, 1, 3, and 5 h for lipase inactivation was also studied. The rice bran oil yield and the content of free fatty acids did not depend significantly on the extraction temperature or pressure. The oil solubility increased significantly (p 2 mole fraction of 0.82 at 5.1 MPa and 20 °C, CO2 mole fraction of 0.87 at 5.0 MPa and 25 °C, and CO2 mole fraction of 0.92 at 5.1 MPa and 30 °C, respectively. The most effective pretreatment conditions for rice bran before storage for 10 weeks were 100 °C for 1 h. In addition, the phosphorus concentration of rice bran oil extracted with CO2-expanded hexane at a CO2 mole fraction of 0.88, 5.1 MPa, and 25 °C was ≤ 7.00 ppm, regardless of the pretreatment conditions. Therefore, CO2-expanded hexane extraction can be potentially used to produce impurity-free rice bran oil from both treated and untreated rice bran without refining.

Optical flow estimation has made great progress, but usually suffers from degradation under adverse weather. Although semi/full-supervised methods have made good attempts, the domain shift between the synthetic and real adverse weather images would deteriorate their performance. To alleviate this issue, our start point is to unsupervisedly transfer the knowledge from source clean domain to target degraded domain. Our key insight is that adverse weather does not change the intrinsic optical flow of the scene, but causes a significant difference for the warp error between clean and degraded images. In this work, we propose the first unsupervised framework for adverse weather optical flow via hierarchical motion-boundary adaptation. Specifically, we first employ image translation to construct the transformation relationship between clean and degraded domains. In motion adaptation, we utilize the flow consistency knowledge to align the cross-domain optical flows into a motion-invariance common space, where the optical flow from clean weather is used as the guidance-knowledge to obtain a preliminary optical flow for adverse weather. Furthermore, we leverage the warp error inconsistency which measures the motion misalignment of the boundary between the clean and degraded domains, and propose a joint intra- and inter-scene boundary contrastive adaptation to refine the motion boundary. The hierarchical motion and boundary adaptation jointly promotes optical flow in a unified framework. Extensive quantitative and qualitative experiments have been performed to verify the superiority of the proposed method.

This study aims to develop the operational definitions and ICD coding algorithms for filicide-suicide based on (1) the description and definitions of filicide-suicide in the literature and (2) the ICD-9 and ICD-10 codes in the administrative data. The definitions and conceptualization of filicide-suicide in the literature and related ICD codes for filicide-suicide will be reviewed. Specifically, we will identify the age range for the child (victim), dyadic relationship between perpetrators and victims, and time interval between two events. Related definitions and corresponding ICD codes will be summarized and integrated for the development of the operational definitions and ICD coding algorithms for filicide-suicide.

Large language models (LLMs) are gaining increasing popularity in both academia and industry, owing to their unprecedented performance in various applications. As LLMs continue to play a vital role in both research and daily use, their evaluation becomes increasingly critical, not only at the task level, but also at the society level for better understanding of their potential risks. Over the past years, significant efforts have been made to examine LLMs from various perspectives. This paper presents a comprehensive review of these evaluation methods for LLMs, focusing on three key dimensions: what to evaluate, where to evaluate, and how to evaluate. Firstly, we provide an overview from the perspective of evaluation tasks, encompassing general natural language processing tasks, reasoning, medical usage, ethics, educations, natural and social sciences, agent applications, and other areas. Secondly, we answer the `where' and `how' questions by diving into the evaluation methods and benchmarks, which serve as crucial components in assessing performance of LLMs. Then, we summarize the success and failure cases of LLMs in different tasks. Finally, we shed light on several future challenges that lie ahead in LLMs evaluation. In this technical report, we briefly introduce the solution of our team VIELab-HUST for coded target restoration through atmospheric turbulence in CVPR 2023 UG$^2$+ Track 2.2. In this task, we propose an efficient multi-stage framework to restore a high quality image from distorted frames. Specifically, each distorted frame is initially aligned using image registration to suppress geometric distortion. We subsequently select the sharpest set of registered frames by employing a frame selection approach based on image sharpness, and average them to produce an image that is largely free of geometric distortion, albeit with blurriness. A learning-based deblurring method is then applied to remove the residual blur in the averaged image. Finally, post-processing techniques are utilized to further enhance the quality of the output image. Our framework is capable of handling different kinds of coded target dataset provided in the final testing phase, and ranked 1st on the final leaderboard.
