Os linfangiomas mediastinais são tumores extremamente raros nos adultos, dessa forma o caso clínico abaixo relata e discute, tendo como base uma revisão de literatura, a história de um paciente de 58 anos que foi encaminhado ao ambulatório de cirurgia torácica de um hospital terciário devido à rouquidão progressiva iniciada há 4 anos associada à broncoespasmo. Após a realização de uma tomografia computadorizada de tórax foi observado a presença de massa mediastinal a qual foi abordada cirurgicamente.

A pneumonectomia é uma cirurgia de último recurso uma vez que dentre as ressecções pulmonares eletivas é a que apresenta o maior risco. Nesse sentido, a pneumonectomia robótica tem sido cada vez mais empregada na cirurgia torácica visto que apresenta resultados pós-operatórios muito mais favoráveis em comparação com a pneumectomia aberta.

O presente artigo tem como objetivo explicitar a evolução histórica e a distinção do crime de contrabando e descaminho tipificados respectivamente no artigo 334 e 334-A do Código Penal brasileiro, esclarecer o princípio da insignificância aplicado ao delito tipificado no art.334, no valor de até R$ 20.000,00 bem como arrazoar a reincidência nesses casos. Tratase de crimes que deveriam estar definidos como crimes Tributários, contudo são previstos na lei penal no capitulo dos crimes contra a administração pública. O crime de descaminho é a entrada, saída ou consumo de mercadorias permitidas, as quais o agente deixa de fazer o pagamento do tributo, total ou parcialmente, evitando, assim, o recolhimento dos impostos devidos; pode ser praticado por qualquer pessoa, por se tratar de um crime comum.

Cryptonanus agricolai (Moojen, 1943) is a small didelphid widely distributed across of central and northeastern Brazil and in the Brazilian Atlantic Forest. A recent phylogeographic study of this species identified three major mtDNA clades with strong geographic structure. Here, we present new records of C. agricolai in northeastern Brazil, including the first report for Maranhão state. We also identify a novel mtDNA lineage, sister to one of the three major clades, in some specimens from Maranhão, indicating that C. agricolai is morphologically and genetically more variable than previously recognized.

Orientador: Fernando Cendes Dissertação (mestrado) - Universidade Estadual de Campinas, Faculdade de Ciencias Medicas Resumo: Objetivos: Comparar as medidas relativas de N-Acetil Aspartato (NAA) em pacientes com epilepsia do lobo temporal (ELT) entre aqueles com resposta adequada a primeira droga anti-epiléptica (DAE) com aqueles que não responderam a primeira DAE, requerendo outra monoterapia ou politerapia. Métodos: Nós estudamos 27 indivíduos no grupo-controle, 25 pacientes com ELT com resposta a primeira DAE (grupo-resposta) e 21 que não responderam a primeira DAE (grupo-falência) e que eram regularmente acompanhadas no nosso serviço de epilepsia. Todos foram submetidos a estudo por imagem e espectroscopia pela RNM e a razão NAA/Creatina foi calculada. Purpose: To compare relative N-acetylaspartate (NAA) measurements in temporal lobe epilepsy (TLE) patients with good response to the first trial of antiepileptic drugs (AEDs) (an important prognostic factor) to TLE patients who failed the first AED monotherapy and required further AED trials with monotherapy or polytherapy. We studied 25 consecutive TLE patients who responded to first AED (responders) and 21 who did not (failure-group), as well as 27 controls. Patients were seen regularly in our Epilepsy Service and underwent electroencephalography (EEG) investigation, high-resolution magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and single-voxel proton MR spectroscopy. Voxels were tailored to the medial temporal region on each side and involved the anterior hippocampus. Analysis of variance (ANOVA) demonstrated significant variation of NAA/creatine (NAA/Cr) values in both hippocampi, ipsilateral and contralateral to the EEG focus (p < 0.001 and p = 0.021) across the groups. Pairwise post hoc comparisons showed reduced NAA/Cr in both hippocampi of failure-group compared to controls (p < 0.001) and compared to responders (p < 0.05), but not between the controls and responders. Individual analyses showed NAA/Cr ratios lower than 2 SDs (standard deviations) below the mean of controls in 9 of 21 patients (42.8%) in the failure-group (6 with unilateral and 3 with bilateral reduction) but in none of the responders.
