Objectives The purpose of the present study was to explore Muslim Arab American women's intersecting identities, the types of discrimination they experience, and the psychosocial effects of those experiences on identity and well-being. Method Thirteen Muslim Arab American women were interviewed utilizing the consensual qualitative research (CQR) approach. Results Final domains that emerged from the data included conceptualization of racial, ethnic, and religious identity; experiences and effect of microaggressions; and coping strategies. Conclusions The results document discrimination at the intersection of their multiple identities, a perceived shift in stereotypes from weak and oppressed to anti-American and violent, and within-group discrimination in the form of colorism and judgment. Reported psychological effects of discrimination include internalization of stereotypes, burden to represent all Muslims, rejection of the White racial label, and increased activism. Background: It is currently unknown whether the addition of arthroscopic labral repair in the setting of periacetabular osteotomy (PAO) provides any clinical benefit. Purpose/Hypothesis: The purpose of this study was to compare outcomes of patients who underwent arthroscopic labral repair concomitantly with PAO versus patients who underwent PAO alone. We hypothesized that there would be no difference in patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) between the cohorts. Study Design: Cohort study; Level of evidence, 3. Methods: Patients undergoing PAO from a single-center prospective hip preservation registry were eligible for this study if they completed pre- and postoperative PROMs (minimum, 1 year). PROMs were collected at 1 year, 2 years, and latest follow-up at 6.05 years for PAO group and 4.2 years for scope/PAO group. The study group consisted of 53 patients who underwent arthroscopic labral repair at the time of their PAO, and the comparison group consisted of 170 patients who underwent PAO alone. A subset of the PAO group who had radiologic evidence of a detached labral tear (n = 33) was also compared with the rest of the PAO-alone group. PROMs were compared at every time point for both groups as well as the subset of patients who underwent PAO alone despite a labral tear. Results: The mean follow-up of all patients was 2 years (range, 1-6 years). Overall, 85.2% of the PAO group and 85.7% of the scope/PAO group met the minimal clinically important difference for either the modified Harris Hip Score (mHHS) or the International Hip Outcome Tool (iHOT-33) at the most recent follow-up. There was no difference in improvement between groups (mHHS, P = .670; iHOT-33, P = .944). Patients who had a radiologically diagnosed detached labral tear and underwent PAO alone had no difference in outcomes when compared with the rest of the PAO cohort (mHHS, P = .981; iHOT-33, P = .909). Conclusion: There was no significant benefit measured by PROMs at follow-up for concomitant arthroscopic labral repair in the setting of PAO.

Rapid accumulation of data in surgical and medical oncology has changed the treatment landscape for patients with stage-III melanoma, introducing options for active surveillance and adjuvant systemic therapy; however, these options have increased the complexity of decision making.We conducted an explanatory sequential mixed-methods study consisting of surveys and semistructured interviews among patients diagnosed with stage-III melanoma at a single institution from August 2019 to December 2021. The survey included the validated 30-point satisfaction with decision scale (SWD). The interview guide was developed using a shared decision-making framework.Twenty-six participants completed the survey (response rate 40%) and 17 were interviewed. In the survey, 69% of participants reported receiving a recommendation for active surveillance and 23% received a recommendation for adjuvant systemic therapy. Overall SWD for treatment of the lymph node basin and adjuvant systemic therapy was high at 27.94 and 26.21 out of 30, respectively. In the interviews, participants stressed the importance of the physician's recommendation as well as the desire to minimize intervention and avoid potential side effects in their decisions. However, they demonstrated persistent knowledge gaps in their understanding of the treatment options.Like other cancer types where the option for active surveillance exists, the physician's recommendation is influential in shaping decisions for patients with stage-III melanoma. Physicians can improve shared decision making in this complex treatment landscape through improved multidisciplinary collaboration and mechanisms for ensuring patients' understanding of the treatment options.

We report a strategy to aggregate two- or four interfacial electron transfers at an iodine center as an approach to multi-electron electrosynthesis. The intermediates are characterized via UV-vis spectroscopy and single crystal X-ray crystallography.

While adjacent joint arthritis is a recognized long-term downside of primary tibiotalar arthrodesis (TTA), few studies have identified risk factors for early subtalar arthrodesis (STA) after TTA. This study aims to identify the risk factors for STA within the first few years following TTA. All patients older than 18 years undergoing TTA between 2008 and 2016 were identified retrospectively. Demographic data and comorbidities were collected alongside prior operative procedures, postoperative complications, and subsequent STA. Pre-and postoperative Kellgren-Lawrence osteoarthritis grade of the subtalar joint and postoperative radiographic alignment were obtained. A total of 240 patients who underwent primary TTA were included in this study with median follow up of 13.8 months. Twenty patients (8.3%) underwent STA after TTA due to symptomatic nonunion of TTA in 13 (65%), progression of symptomatic subtalar osteoarthritis (OA) in 4 (20%), and symptomatic nonunion of primary TTA combined progressively symptomatic subtalar OA in 2 (10%). Preoperative radiographic subtalar OA severity and postoperative radiographic alignment were not correlated with subsequent STA. Diabetes mellitus, Charcot arthropathy, neuropathy, alcohol use, substance use disorder, and psychiatric disease were significantly associated with having a subsequent STA. The most common postoperative contributing factor for subsequent STA following primary TTA was the salvage of symptomatic ankle nonunion rather than subtalar joint disease. Patients considering an ankle fusion should be counseled of the risk of subsequent STA, especially if they have risk factors that include diabetes, Charcot arthropathy, neuropathy, alcohol use, substance use disorder, or psychiatric disease.

Plea deals resolve the vast majority of prosecuted criminal cases in the U.S. legal system. Prosecutors hold disproportionate power in plea bargaining and have been blamed for driving punitiveness and racial disparities. Progressive prosecutors aim to reverse these trends, but little is known about how they will alter plea practices. We conducted qualitative interviews with all the assistant district attorneys (ADAs, N = 19) in a mid-sized office with a newly elected progressive DA. Interviews discussed how ADAs implemented office policies and progressive goals in plea bargaining. Prosecutors described working to implement five main progressive goals in their plea decisions: (a) dismissing low-level drug possession charges; (b) avoiding over-penalization, particularly for “victimless” crimes; (c) declining to prosecute weak cases; (d) encouraging open communication with defense; and (e) promoting racial equity. Prosecutors’ descriptions of how these goals guided case decisions illuminate how progressive prosecution may affect the criminal justice system through plea bargaining.

Studies of DNA methylation (DNAm) in solid human tissues are relatively scarce; tissue-specific characterization of DNAm is needed to understand its role in gene regulation and its relevance to complex traits. We generated array-based DNAm profiles for 987 human samples from the Genotype-Tissue Expression (GTEx) project, representing 9 tissue types and 424 subjects. We characterized methylome and transcriptome correlations (eQTMs), genetic regulation in cis (mQTLs and eQTLs) across tissues and e/mQTLs links to complex traits. We identified mQTLs for 286,152 CpG sites, many of which (>5%) show tissue specificity, and mQTL colocalizations with 2,254 distinct GWAS hits across 83 traits. For 91% of these loci, a candidate gene link was identified by integration of functional maps, including eQTMs, and/or eQTL colocalization, but only 33% of loci involved an eQTL and mQTL present in the same tissue type. With this DNAm-focused integrative analysis, we contribute to the understanding of molecular regulatory mechanisms in human tissues and their impact on complex traits.

Alkyne carbopalladation reactions can rapidly generate multiple new C-C bonds; however, regioselectivity is challenging for intermolecular variants. Using ynol ethers, we observe complete regiocontrol of migratory insertion followed by a second migratory insertion with a pendant alkene to turn-over the catalytic cycle. The resulting products are oligosubstituted 1-indenol ethers with defined stereochemistry based on the initial alkene geometry. Blocking β-hydride elimination allowed for C-H and C-C reductive elimination steps for catalyst turnover.

In the United States, legislation intended to limit abortion access based on fetal development markers (e.g., heartbeat, fetal pain) has become increasingly common. We found that people’s support for legal abortion decreases when survey items mention fetal developmental markers compared with items that do not. However, the majority of participants supported access to legal abortion in health-related circumstances or pregnancies as a result of rape at the detection of a fetal heartbeat. Using terms that personify the fetus may evoke responses from participants that limit their endorsement of abortion. Thus, including this terminology in the public and political discourse seems to influence abortion attitudes. This might have implications related to electoral outcomes which eventually determine whether pregnant people are guaranteed access to abortion.

Prior to and since the 2022 Dobbs decision, U.S. state laws have endorsed individuals surveilling and punishing those associated with abortion care. This practice presents an urgent need to understand the characteristics of abortion stigma, particularly the perspectives of individuals with stigmatizing beliefs. To examine the concept and characteristics of abortion stigma, we interviewed 55 individuals about whether they thought there should be consequences for getting an abortion and, if so, what the consequences should be. Adults from three states (Michigan, Kansas, and Arizona) were purposively sampled to include a range of abortion identities and levels of religious engagement. We used reflexive thematic analysis to code and interpret the data. Participants imagined consequences including financial penalties, incarceration, and forced sterilization. Three themes highlighted how abortion was described as violating the law, women's gender roles, and religious doctrine; accordingly, abortion was imagined as deserving of negative consequences, although abortion was legal in all states during data collection. We argue that these imagined consequences relied on carceral logics and interconnected sexist, racist, and classist stereotypes that reflect and reproduce abortion stigma. This study deepens the understanding of abortion stigma from the perspective of the stigmatizer, underscoring the danger of legislation grounded in stigmatizing beliefs. Anti-platelet factor 4 (PF4)/heparin immune complexes that cause heparin-induced thrombocytopenia (HIT) activate complement via the classical pathway. Previous studies have shown that the alternative pathway of complement substantially amplifies the classical pathway of complement activation through the C3b feedback cycle.These studies sought to examine the contributions of the alternative pathway to complement activation by HIT antibodies.Using IgG monoclonal (KKO) and/or patient-derived HIT antibodies, we compared the effects of classical pathway (BBK32 and C1-esterase inhibitor [C1-INH]), alternative pathway (anti-factor B [fB] or factor D [fD] inhibitor) or combined classical and alternative pathway inhibition (soluble complement receptor 1 [sCR1]) in whole blood or plasma.Classical pathway inhibitors BBK32 and C1-INH and the combined classical/alternative pathway inhibitor sCR1 prevented KKO/HIT immune complex-induced complement activation, including release of C3 and C5 activation products, binding of immune complexes to B cells, and neutrophil activation. The alternative pathway inhibitors fB and fD, however, did not affect complement activation by KKO/HIT immune complexes. Similarly, alternative pathway inhibition had no effect on complement activation by unrelated immune complexes consisting of anti-dinitrophenyl (DNP) antibody and the multivalent DNP--keyhole limpet hemocyanin antigen.Collectively, these findings suggest the alternative pathway contributes little in support of complement activation by HIT immune complexes. Additional in vitro and in vivo studies are required to examine if this property is shared by most IgG-containing immune complexes or if predominance of the classic pathway is limited to immune complexes composed of multivalent antigens.

Assisted partner services (APSs) is a feasible, acceptable, and effective strategy that increases uptake of HIV testing; however, it has not been used widely among people who inject drugs (PWID) in Africa to notify sexual and injecting partners of potential exposures to HIV and provide testing services.Nairobi, Kilifi, and Mombasa counties in Kenya.PWID living with HIV (indexes) were enrolled and asked to provide contact information for sexual and injecting partners who were traced and offered HIV testing. APS efficiency was assessed by the number of indexes needed to interview (NNTI) to find 1 additional partner who was unaware of their HIV status or not on antiretroviral therapy (ART). We defined index participant characteristics associated with greater efficiency, defined as lower NNTIs.Among 783 indexes, the NNTI to identify one partner unaware of their HIV status was 7.1 and to identify one HIV-positive partner not on ART (regardless of status awareness) was 4.1. APS was provided to 977 partners and was more efficient in identifying partners who were not on ART (n = 201) among indexes who were female (NNTI = 2.9 vs. 5.7, Plt; 0.001), unaware of their HIV status (NNTI = 2.2 vs. 4.2, P = 0.009), not on ART (NNTI = 2.1 vs. 4.9; Plt; 0.001), not enrolled in a methadone program (NNTI = 3.3 vs. 10.4, Plt; 0.001), reported injectinglt;5 years (NNTI = 3.3 vs. 5.0; P = 0.005), or from Nairobi (NNTI = 3.2 vs. 5.6, Plt; 0.001).Scaling up APS among PWID living with HIV with certain characteristics could result in more efficient APS and greater partner engagement in HIV care.

A 49-year-old male with no past medical history presented with acute-onset painful mucosal erosions along with flaccid bullae on his trunk, scalp, and intertriginous areas. The patient initially underwent a skin biopsy which demonstrated suprabasilar acantholysis and lichenoid interface dermatitis. This was followed by a computed tomography scan which identified a large abdominal lymph node. Core needle biopsy of this node demonstrated follicular lymphoma. Lastly, indirect immunofluorescence (IIF) in rat bladder was positive (titer 1 : 10,240). This finding confirmed the diagnosis of paraneoplastic pemphigus (PNP) in the setting of follicular lymphoma. The patient’s cutaneous disease was treated with a combination of intravenous immunoglobulin and methylprednisolone, along with intravenous rituximab, with a resolution of his cutaneous symptoms. His lymphoma was treated with six cycles of rituximab, cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin, vincristine, and prednisone (R–CHOP), with an interval decrease in his tumor burden. PNP is an autoimmune-mediated mucocutaneous disease associated with underlying neoplasm, most commonly non-Hodgkin lymphoma or chronic lymphocytic leukemia. Affected patients develop variable autoantibodies to antigens on keratinocytes and the basement membrane zone. Severe intractable stomatitis is characteristic, in addition to polymorphous cutaneous eruptions including bullae and erosions. Mortality rates can reach up to 90% due to malignancy, sepsis, or bronchiolitis obliterans, an irreversible and often lethal cause of pulmonary insufficiency. We highlight PNP manifesting in a patient with lymphoma, who responded well to the skin- and malignancy-directed treatments. PNP is an exceedingly rare diagnosis that should be considered in a patient with intractable stomatitis.

Irritability is a common and clinically important problem in children and adolescents and a risk factor for later psychopathology and impairment. Irritability can manifest in both tonic (e.g., irritable, touchy mood) and phasic (e.g., temper outburst) forms, and recent studies of adolescents suggest that they predict different outcomes. However, no studies have examined whether tonic and phasic irritability are empirically distinguishable in 6-year-old children and whether they have distinct correlates and outcomes.We utilized data from a longitudinal study of an unselected community sample of four hundred fifty-two 6-year-olds followed at 3-year intervals to age 15. We conducted confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) using relevant items from a diagnostic interview and several parent-report inventories.The CFA identified dimensions that were consistent with tonic and phasic irritability. Tonic irritability was independently associated with concurrent parent-reported temperamental negative affectivity and internalizing and externalizing disorders at age 6 and predicted higher rates of internalizing psychopathology, and suicidal ideation, in adolescence. Phasic irritability was independently associated with concurrent parent-reported temperamental negative affectivity, surgency, and low effortful control, maladaptive parenting styles and practices, and externalizing disorders at age 6, and predicted higher rates of externalizing psychopathology in adolescence.Tonic and phasic irritability in 6-year-old children appear to be distinguishable constructs with different temperament and parenting correlates and psychopathological outcomes. Distinguishing these components has implications for research on the etiology and pathophysiology of irritability and developing effective treatments.

Background Preschool psychiatric symptoms significantly increase the risk for long-term negative outcomes. Transdiagnostic hierarchical approaches that capture general (‘p’) and specific psychopathology dimensions are promising for understanding risk and predicting outcomes, but their predictive utility in young children is not well established. We delineated a hierarchical structure of preschool psychopathology dimensions and tested their ability to predict psychiatric disorders and functional impairment in preadolescence. Methods Data for 1253 preschool children (mean age = 4.17, s.d. = 0.81) were drawn from three longitudinal studies using a similar methodology (one community sample, two psychopathology-enriched samples) and followed up into preadolescence, yielding a large and diverse sample. Exploratory factor models derived a hierarchical structure of general and specific factors using symptoms from the Preschool Age Psychiatric Assessment interview. Longitudinal analyses examined the prospective associations of preschool p and specific factors with preadolescent psychiatric disorders and functional impairment. Results A hierarchical dimensional structure with a p factor at the top and up to six specific factors (distress, fear, separation anxiety, social anxiety, inattention-hyperactivity, oppositionality) emerged at preschool age. The p factor predicted all preadolescent disorders (ΔR2 = 0.04–0.15) and functional impairment (ΔR2 = 0.01–0.07) to a significantly greater extent than preschool psychiatric diagnoses and functioning. Specific dimensions provided additional predictive power for the majority of preadolescent outcomes (disorders: ΔR2 = 0.06–0.15; functional impairment: ΔR2 = 0.05–0.12). Conclusions Both general and specific dimensions of preschool psychopathology are useful for predicting clinical and functional outcomes almost a decade later. These findings highlight the value of transdiagnostic dimensions for predicting prognosis and as potential targets for early intervention and prevention.

This consensual qualitative research study explored immigration activists’ perspectives on the rewards and challenges of their work, how they cope with challenges, and their recommendations for how psychologists could best support them. Fifteen self-identified immigration activists completed one-hour, semi-structured, individual interviews. Analysis yielded 25 categories associated with six domains (Catalysts for Activism; Vision for Activism; Rewards; Challenges; Coping Strategies; and Recommendations for Psychological Practice, Research, and Advocacy). Participants reported emotional distress and burnout, but this challenge co-occurred with rewards such as connecting with colleagues or increased skills and tools. Activists used a variety of coping strategies, including maintaining boundaries, and encouraged psychologists to provide them with psychoeducational training, to provide services that are relevant and accessible to immigrant communities, and to advocate for immigration issues. The findings are placed in context with prior research pertaining to social identity, social justice activism, and multicultural competence.

Small molecule redox mediators convey interfacial electron transfer events into bulk solution and can enable diverse substrate activation mechanisms in synthetic electrocatalysis. Here we report that 1,2-diiodo-4,5-dimethoxybenzene is an efficient electrocatalyst for C–H/E–H coupling that operates at as low as 0.5 mol% catalyst loading. Spectroscopic, crystallographic, and computational results indicate a critical role for a three-electron I–I bonding interaction in stabilizing an iodanyl radical intermediate (i.e., formally I(II) species). As a result, the optimized catalyst operates at more than 100 mV lower potential than the related monoiodide catalyst 4-iodoanisole, which results in improved product yield, higher Faradaic efficiency, and expanded substrate scope. The isolated iodanyl radical is chemically competent in C–N bond formation. These results represent the first examples of substrate functionalization at a well-defined I(II) derivative and bona fide iodanyl radical catalysis and demonstrate one-electron pathways as a mechanistic alternative to canonical two-electron hypervalent iodine mechanisms. The observation establishes I–I redox cooperation as a new design concept for the development of metal-free redox mediators.

The laser print, cut, and laminate (PCL) method for microfluidic device fabrication can be leveraged for rapid and inexpensive prototyping of electrophoretic microchips useful for optimizing separation conditions. The rapid prototyping capability allows the evaluation of fluidic architecture, applied fields, reagent concentrations, and sieving matrix, all within the context of using fluorescence-compatible substrates. Cyclic olefin copolymer and toner-coated polyethylene terephthalate (tPeT) were utilized with the PCL technique and bonding methods optimized to improve device durability during electrophoresis. A series of separation channel designs and centrifugation conditions that provided successful loading of sieving polymer in less than 3 min was described. Separation of a 400-base DNA sizing ladder provided calculated base resolution between 3 and 4 bases, a greater than 18-fold improvement over separations on similar substrates. Finally, the accuracy and precision capabilities of these devices were demonstrated by separating and sizing DNA fragments of 147 and 167 bases as 148.62 ± 2 and 166.48 ± 3 bases, respectively.

Neoplasms of the intestinal tract are uncommon in rabbits and primary lymphoma of the intestinal tract is rare. This case series is the first detailed description of primary intestinal lymphoma in rabbits. We reviewed four cases of primary intestinal lymphoma in rabbits aged 5-9.5 years old with an average age of 7.8 years. Neoplastic cells in three cases were large (8 μm diameter) while one case had intermediate cells (5 μm diameter). Neoplastic lymphocytes were of B-cell lineage and characterized by intense, multifocal, membranous immunoreactivity for CD79a and no immunoreactivity to CD3. Based on the Revised European-American Classification of Lymphoid Neoplasms/World Health Organization classification, three of the cases were consistent with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma and the case with intermediate-sized neoplastic cells was consistent with lymphoblastic lymphoma.

Bottom-up understanding of transport describes how molecular changes alter species concentrations and electrolyte voltage drops in operating batteries. Such an understanding is essential to predictively design electrolytes for desired transport behavior. We herein advocate building a structure-property-performance relationship as a systematic approach to accurate bottom-up understanding. To ensure generalization across salt concentrations as well as different electrolyte types and cell configurations, the property-performance relation must be described using Newman's concentrated solution theory. It uses Stefan-Maxwell diffusivity, ij , to describe the role of molecular motions at the continuum scale. The key challenge is to connect ij to the structure. We discuss existing methods for making such a connection, their peculiarities, and future directions to advance our understanding of electrolyte transport.

The present study extended minority stress theory by testing the associations of racist stressors (racist discrimination, expectations of rejection, and internalized racism) and maladaptive coping strategies (internalization and detachment) with psychological distress and psychological well-being. In addition, expectations of rejection, internalized racism, internalization, and detachment were tested as mediators of the racist discrimination–mental health link. Data were analyzed from 297 Asian American adults. Results indicated that greater levels of all racist stressors and maladaptive coping strategies were each associated with poorer mental health at the bivariate level, but only internalization and detachment were unique predictors of distress and only internalized racism and detachment were unique predictors of well-being. Internalization and detachment mediated the positive indirect association of racist discrimination with distress, and detachment mediated the negative indirect relation of racist discrimination with well-being. Implications of the findings for practice, advocacy, education, training, and research with Asian Americans are discussed.

There is growing acknowledgement of the legacy of White supremacy and racism in the discipline of epidemiology. Our department in the University of Washington School of Public Health undertook a systematic effort to begin addressing institutionalized racism and inclusive teaching in our courses. In July 2020, we introduced a new tool (the “Course Development Plan” (CDP)) to advance our curriculum. The CDP includes 2 components: 1) a guideline document that provides strategies on how to modify curricula and classroom teaching to incorporate antiracism and principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI); and 2) a structured worksheet for instructors to share EDI and antiracism practices they already incorporate and practices they plan to incorporate into their classes. Worksheets for each class are submitted prior to the beginning of the quarter and are reviewed by a peer faculty member and at least 1 epidemiology student; reviewers provide written feedback on the CDP worksheet. Further evaluation to assess the impact of the CDP process on classroom climate is ongoing. In this commentary, we discuss our department’s efforts, the challenges we faced, and our hopes for next steps.

The current study examined changes in the agreement, stability, and concurrent and predictive validity of parent- and self-reports on a frequently used measure of youth anxiety symptoms, the Screen for Child Anxiety Related Emotional Disorders (SCARED), from age 9 to 15. A community sample of 531 families (youth, mothers, and fathers) completed the SCARED and a semi-structured diagnostic interview when children were ages 9, 12, and 15. Agreement between youth and each parent on youth anxiety symptoms was weak at age 9 (r = 0.12-0.17), but moderate at age 12 (r = 0.31-0.36) and 15 (r = 0.31-0.46); mother-father (r = 0.50-0.53) agreement was greater than youth-parent agreement at every wave. Stability of youth-reported symptoms was low between age 9 and 12 (r = 0.25), but much higher from age 12 to 15 (r = 0.57); mother- and father-reported youth anxiety symptoms demonstrated high stability (r = 0.53-0.74) at both intervals. Self- and parent-reported youth symptoms were both significantly associated with youth anxiety disorder status, cross-sectionally and prospectively. When considered simultaneously at age 9, only parent-reported anxiety symptoms uniquely predicted concurrent and subsequent youth anxiety diagnoses. However, by age 12, parent- and youth-reported anxiety symptoms were each independently associated with concurrent and subsequent anxiety diagnoses. Agreement, stability, and concurrent and predictive validity of youth self-reported anxiety symptoms are poorer than parent-reports in middle childhood, but comparable by middle adolescence. However, all reporters provide unique information about youth anxiety at each of the developmental periods examined.

Given the limitations of cadavers, 3D printing has the potential to improve development of human cervical spine models for use in medical educational and surgical case preparation. A literature review of quantitative biomechanical specifications such as Young’s Modulus and Poisson’s ratio, as well as qualitative components of major anatomical aspects of the human spine was performed. Datasheets from seven thermoplastic manufacturers were compiled to review the specifications and mechanical properties of their materials. Suggested thermoplastics were assigned to specific anatomical features of the cervical spine according to their respective biomechanical properties and presented. Commercially available materials and techniques exist to simulate the investigated anatomical components of the cervical spine as a cost-effective 3D-printed model with biomechanical accuracy.
