Abstract: 8 pags., 4 figs., 1 tab., The β-decay of the even-even nucleus 70Kr with Z=N+2, has been investigated at the Radioactive Ion Beam Factory (RIBF) of the RIKEN Nishina Center using the BigRIPS fragment separator, the ZeroDegree Spectrometer, the WAS3ABI implantation station and the EURICA HPGe cluster array. Fifteen γ-rays associated with the β-decay of 70Kr into 70Br have been identified for the first time, defining ten populated states below Eexc=3300 keV. The half-life of 70Kr was derived with increased precision and found to be t1/2=45.19±0.14 ms. The β-delayed proton emission probability has also been determined as εp=0.545(23)%. An increase in the β-strength to the yrast 1+ state in comparison with the heaviest Z=N+2 system studied so far (62Ge decay) is observed that may indicate increased np correlations in the T=0 channel. The β-decay strength deduced from the results is interpreted in terms of the proton-neutron quasiparticle random-phase approximation (pnQRPA) and also with a schematic model that includes isoscalar and isovector pairing in addition to quadrupole deformation. The application of this last model indicates an approximate realization of pseudo-SU(4) symmetry in this system., This work was supported by the National Research, Development and Innovation Fund of the Ministry for Innovation and Technology, Hungary with project no. Abstract: Background: The formation of superheavy nuclei in fusion reactions is suppressed by a competing quasifission process. The competition between the formation of the compound nucleus and the quasifission depends strongly on the reaction entrance channel. Purpose: The investigation of fission and quasifission processes in the formation of Z=120 superheavy composite systems in the 52,54Cr+248Cm and 68Zn+232Th reactions, and their comparison with the 64Ni+238U reaction at energies in the vicinity of the Coulomb barrier. Methods: Mass-energy distributions of fissionlike fragments formed in the reactions 52,54Cr+248Cm and 68Zn+232Th at energies near the Coulomb barrier were measured using the double-arm time-of-flight spectrometer CORSET. Results: Capture cross sections for the reactions under investigation were measured. The most probable fragment masses and total kinetic energies as well as their variances in dependence on the interaction energy were studied for asymmetric and symmetric fragments. The fusion probabilities were estimated from the analysis of mass-energy distributions. Conclusions: The estimated fusion probability drops down by a factor of 103 in the 54Cr+248Cm reaction compared to the reactions of 48Ca ions with actinides. Among the studied reactions, the 54Cr+248Cm is the most favorable one for the production of the superheavy element with Z=120.

Abstract: The structure of $^{34}$Si was studied through $��$ spectroscopy separately in the $��^-$ decays of $^{34}$Mg and $^{34}$Al at the ISOLDE facility of CERN. Different configurations in $^{34}$Si were populated independently from the two recently identified $��$-decaying states in $^{34}$Al having spin-parity assignments $J^��= 4^-$ dominated by the normal configuration $��(d_{5/2})^{-1} \otimes ��(f_{7/2})$ and $J^��= 1^+$ by the intruder configuration $��(d_{5/2})^{-1} \otimes ��(d_{3/2})^{-1}(f_{7/2})^{2}$. The paper reports on spectroscopic properties of $^{34}$Si such as an extended level scheme, spin and parity assignments based on log($ft$) values and $��$-ray branching ratios, absolute $��$ feeding intensities and neutron emission probabilities. A total of 11 newly identified levels and 26 transitions were added to the previously known level scheme of $^{34}$Si. Large scale shell-model calculations using the {\sc sdpf-u-mix} interaction, able to treat higher order intruder configurations, are compared with the new results and conclusions are drawn concerning the predictive power of {\sc sdpf-u-mix}, the $N=20$ shell gap, the level of mixing between normal and intruder configurations for the 0$_1^+$, 0$_2^+$ and 2$_1^+$ states and the absence of triaxial deformation in $^{34}$Si.

Abstract: The half-life of $^{19}$Ne has been measured using a real-time digital multiparametric acquisition system providing an accurate time-stamp and relevant information on the detectors signals for each decay event. An exhaustive offline analysis of the data gave unique access to experimental effects potentially biasing the measurement. After establishing the influence factors impacting the measurement such as after-pulses, pile-up, gain and base line fluctuations, their effects were accurately estimated and the event selection optimized. The resulting half-life, $17.2569\pm0.0019_{(stat)}\pm0.0009_{(syst)}$~s, is the most precise up to now for $^{19}$Ne. It is found in agreement with two recent precise measurements and not consistent with the most recent one [L.J. Broussard {\it et al.}, Phys. Rev. Lett. {\bf112}, 212301 (2014)] by 3.0 standard deviations. The full potential of the technique for nuclei with half-lives of a few seconds is discussed., Comment: 11 pages, 16 figures

Abstract: The $��$ decay of the odd-odd nucleus $^{70}$Br has been investigated with the BigRIPS and EURICA setups at the Radioactive Ion Beam Factory (RIBF) of the RIKEN Nishina Center. The $T=0$ ($J^��=9^+$) and $T=1$ ($J^��=0^+$) isomers have both been produced in in-flight fragmentation of $^{78}$Kr with ratios of 41.6(8)\% and 58.4(8)\%, respectively. A half-life of $t_{1/2}=2157^{+53}_{-49}$ ms has been measured for the $J^��=9^+$ isomer from $��$-ray time decay analysis. Based on this result, we provide a new value of the half-life for the $J^��=0^+$ ground state of $^{70}$Br, $t_{1/2}=78.42\pm0.51$ ms, which is slightly more precise, and in excellent agreement, with the best measurement reported hitherto in the literature. For this decay, we provide the first estimate of the total branching fraction decaying through the $2^+_1$ state in the daughter nucleus $^{70}$Se, $R(2^+_1)=1.3\pm1.1\%$. We also report four new low-intensity $��$-ray transitions at 661, 1103, 1561, and 1749 keV following the $��$ decay of the $J^��=9^+$ isomer. Based on their coincidence relationships, we tentatively propose two new excited states at 3945 and 4752 keV in $^{70}$Se with most probable spins and parities of $J^��=(6^+)$ and $(8^+)$, respectively. The observed structure is interpreted with the help of shell-model calculations, which predict a complex interplay between oblate and prolate configurations at low excitation energies.

Abstract: The structure of the weakly-bound $^{26}_{\;\;9}$F$_{17}$ odd-odd nucleus, produced from $^{27,28}$Na nuclei, has been investigated at GANIL by means of the in-beam $��$-ray spectroscopy technique. A single $��$-line is observed at 657(7) keV in $^{26}_{9}$F which has been ascribed to the decay of the excited J=$2^+$ state to the J=1$^+$ ground state. Abstract: In an experiment at the SISSI-LISE3 facility of GANIL, the decay of the proton drip-line nucleus Fe45 has been studied after projectile fragmentation of a Ni58 primary beam at 75 MeV/nucleon impinging on a natural nickel target. Fragment-implantation events have been correlated with radioactive decay events in a 16x16 pixel silicon strip detector on an event-by-event basis. The decay-energy spectrum of Fe45 implants shows a distinct peak at (1.06+/-0.04)MeV with a half-life of T1/2 = (4.7+3.4-1.4)ms. None of the events in this peak is in coincidence with beta particles which were searched for in a detector next to the implantation detector. For a longer correlation interval, daughter decays of the two-proton daughter Cr43 can be observed after Fe45 implantation. The decay energy for Fe45 agrees nicely with several theoretical predictions for two-proton emission. Barrier-penetration calculations slightly favour a di-proton emission picture over an emission of two individual protons and point thus to a He2 emission mode., Comment: 4 pages, 5 figures, sumitted to PRL

Abstract: Expérience GANIL, Also available at http://th-www.if.uj.edu.pl/acta/; International audience; The shell structure of the nucleus implies the existence of magic numbers. Since several years many indications have been accumulated, theoretically as well as through experiments at various laboratories around the world, that if one moves away from stability, the location of the magic numbers shifts as an inescapable consequence of the evolving nature of the nuclear force itself. In this respect, it is the balance between the tensor and spin-orbit components that seems particularly instrumental. Illustrative examples from recent experiments at Ganil, at the neutron-rich and proton-rich side of the nuclear chart for N or Z equal 20 or 28, will be presented here.

Abstract: The mass-energy distributions of fragments of the reaction 32S + 232Th leading to the formation of 264Sg (Z = 106) at energies of incident ions 32S of 165, 181 and 200 MeV are measured. The contribution from the quasifission process is found at energies below and above the Coulomb barrier in the region of symmetric masses (АCN/2 ± 20). A high-energy symmetric fission mode is found at an energy of 165 MeV, which corresponds to the excitation energy of the compound 264Sg nucleus 45 MeV.

Abstract: International audience; The mass, energy and angular distributions of binary fragments formed in the reactions $^{64}$Ni + $^{238}$U, $^{58}$Fe + $^{244}$Pu, $^{52}$Cr + $^{248}$Cm, $^{54}$Cr + $^{248}$Cm at energies near the Coulomb barrier have been measured. The analysis of energy distributions of the symmetric fragments with mass numbers ${{{{A}_{{{\text{CN}}}}}} \mathord{\left/ {\vphantom {{{{A}_{{{\text{CN}}}}}} 2}} \right. \kern-0em} 2} \pm 20$ formed in these reactions have been applied to separate compound nucleus fission and quasi-fission. The estimated fusion probability for the reactions Cr, Fe, and Ni ions with actinide targets shows an exponential dependence on the mean fissility parameter of the system and shows also that reaction with Cr ions is more favorable for production of the super heavy element with Z = 120.

Abstract: Computation offloading is employed by mobile apps running over resource-constrained devices to leverage the cloud in overcoming their resource limits. The advent of the Multi-access Edge Computing (MEC) paradigm further extends the potential opportunities of mobile-cloud offloading, allowing new service provisioning scenarios, such as mobile gaming and multimedia, where responsiveness of mobile devices at the network edge significantly benefits from low latency interactions. However, state-of-the-art offloading platforms for MEC architectures have not addressed the technical challenge of supporting specific file systems for this MEC-enabled class of applications, with components running at three hosting environments, i.e., mobile, edge, and cloud. This paper proposes the Mobile Edge File System (MEFS), an application-level distributed file system designed to be highly resilient and able to efficiently maintain consistency among the mobile, edge, and cloud entities. MEFS supports application handoff through live migration as end devices move between edges. The cloud transparently helps with recovery from faulty edge nodes or in the case of unavailability of edges in the user's proximity. We implemented a MEFS prototype in Android along with MEFS-based MEC-enabled mobile apps. The experimental results show how MEFS can achieve low latency and low overhead.
