PURPOSE Comprehensive targeted next-generation sequencing (NGS) panels are routinely used in modern molecular cancer diagnostics. In molecular tumor boards, the detected genomic alterations are often discussed to decide the next treatment options for patients with cancer. With the increasing size and complexity of NGS panels, the discussion of these results becomes increasingly complex, especially if they are reported in a text-based form, as it is the standard in current molecular pathology. METHODS We have developed the Molecular Tumor Profiling pilot ( MTPpilot) webservice using HTML, PHP, JavaScript, and MySQL to support the clinical discussion of NGS results at molecular tumor boards. RESULTS MTPpilot integrates various public genome, network, and cancer mutation databases with interactive visualization tools to assess the functional impact of mutations and support clinical decision making at tumor boards. CONCLUSION MTPpilot is tailored for discussion of NGS gene panel results at molecular tumor boards. It is freely available as a webservice at MTPpilot.

There is immense interest in how the local environment influences the electronic structure of materials at the single layer limit. We characterize moir�� induced spatial variations in the electronic structure of in-situ grown monolayer V2S3 on Au(111) by means of low temperature scanning tunneling microscopy and spectroscopy. We observe a long-range modulation of the integrated local density of states (LDOS), and quantify this modulation with respect to the moir�� superstructure for multiple orientations of the monolayer with respect to the substrate. Scanning tunneling spectroscopy reveals a prominent peak in the LDOS, which is shifted in energy at different points of the moir�� superstructure. Comparing ab initio calculations with angle-resolved photoemission, we are able to attribute this peak to bands that exhibit a large out-of-plane d-orbital character. This suggests that the moir�� driven variations in the measured density of states is driven by a periodic modulation of the monolayer-substrate hybridization.

Auf dem Weg der Professionalisierung der Sozialen Arbeit wird eine zunehmende Fundierung mit wissenschaftlichem Wissen verlangt. Dabei ist ein kontrovers geführter Diskurs darüber entstanden, ob die Soziale Arbeit zur Wissenschaft wird und wie deren Einfluss auf die Praxis ist. Die Autoren zeigen auf, dass beim Theorie-Praxis-Problem eher von einem problematischen Theorie-Praxis-Verhältnis gesprochen werden muss. Anhand der Beispiele evidenzbasierte Praxis, transformativer Dreischritt und kooperative Wissensbildung wird dargelegt, dass es Möglichkeiten gibt, die Lücke zwischen Theorie und Praxis zu überbrücken. Die Autoren berücksichtigen dabei sowohl die Sicht der Wissenschaft wie auch der Praxis und der Ausbildung hinsichtlich dieses Spannungsverhältnisses. Sie vergleichen verschiedene Meinungen und Positionen des Diskurses um zu beurteilen, welche Auswirkungen diese Kontroverse im deutschsprachigen Raum auf die Entwicklung von Praxis, Wissenschaft und Ausbildung hat. Viele dieser gegensätzlichen Ansichten werden auch an Schweizer Hochschulen für Soziale Arbeit vertreten. Positive Effekte einer entstehenden Sozialarbeitswissenschaft auf die Weiterentwicklung der Profession Soziale Arbeit werden deutlich gemacht. Eine zentrale Erkenntnis dieser Arbeit ist, dass gute theoretische Ansätze das problematische Verhältnis zwischen Theorie und Praxis nicht alleine lösen können.
