Implementing modern design and manufacturing technologies in academic and vocational education programs is a prerequisite for successful teaching/training in the field of design and production engineering. However, these technologies are often not affordable to all educational institutions. Evolving virtual and remote laboratories allow sharing e-learning resources with distant institutions, but most of the successes to date have been seen in the fields of Digital Systems Design and Control Engineering. We propose to integrate computer-aided design and manufacturing tools into the Ilmenau Interactive Hybrid Online Lab, which will expand the range of courses for which the Lab can be used.
