Background/Aims Whole body vibration could benefit functional mobility in people with Parkinson's disease. A preliminary study was undertaken to analyse the acute effect of whole body vibration on unobstructed walking and obstacle circumvention in people with Parkinson's disease. Methods People with Parkinson's disease and typically healthy individuals as matched controls were divided into four groups with nine individuals in each: experimental or placebo for people with Parkinson's disease and experimental or placebo for the control group. The participants were evaluated in two different gait conditions: unobstructed walking and obstacle circumvention. Then the participants undertook a session of whole body vibration on a KIKOS P201 lateral vibratory platform in two positions: feet shoulder-width apart, and feet shoulder-width apart with slightly flexed knees. The participants were re-evaluated after this session. Results After whole body vibration, those in the experimental Parkinson's disease group had a reduced co-contraction of the tibialis anterior and the gastrocnemius lateralis muscles during unobstructed walking, whereas the co-contraction of the tibialis anterior and the gastrocnemius lateralis muscles increased in the experimental control group. In addition, those in the experimental control group had reduced stride duration in unobstructed walking and in obstacle circumvention. After the placebo intervention, the co-contraction of the tibialis anterior and the gastrocnemius lateralis muscles increased in all conditions and stride duration was reduced in unobstructed walking. Conclusions Although whole body vibration had no acute efficiency on gait (unobstructed walking and obstacle circumvention), it can improve other components, such as strength, which could be important for people with Parkinson's disease.

Objetivo: analisar o perfil dos óbitos por suicídio necropsiados pelo Instituto Geral de Perícias/Chapecó, entre janeiro 2007 e dezembro 2016. Método: estudo exploratório descritivo retrospectivo, obteve aprovação ética do Comitê de Ética em Pesquisa com Seres Humanos (CEP/UFFS) sob parecer nº 1.826.221. Dados obtidos nos registros de necropsia e declarações de óbito de mortes por suicídio, organizados em planilhas eletrônicas, analisados pelo teste qui quadrado, e discutidos com base na literatura. Resultados: analisados 335 óbitos. À análise estatística univariada, significância para sexo, faixa etária, escolaridade e situação conjugal. Análise de tendência temporal apontou incremento nas taxas entre 30-39 anos e acima de 60 anos. Conclusão: o fortalecimento de políticas públicas voltadas à saúde mental é necessário.

A Caminhada Nórdica (CN) é uma forma de exercício físico que pode ser útil para melhora das alterações posturais e da marcha ocasionadas pela doença de Parkinson. Objetiva-se com este trabalha observar se há e quais são os efeitos em variáveis posturais e de marcha durante e logo após uma única sessão de 30 minutos de CN, em idosos saudáveis e idosos com a DP. Para isso 15 idosos com a DP (GDP) e 12 idosos saudáveis (GC) foram avaliados quanto a angulações posturais e quanto à parâmetros cinemáticos da marcha. Os indivíduos foram filmados em sua marcha convencional, e realizaram fotogrametria postural estática, antes e depois de executarem 30 minutos de CN, analisada pelo Corel Draw. Durante a CN, marcha e postura foram avaliadas através das filmagens pelo software Kinovea. Obteve-se que na fotogrametria estática, o ângulo da protusão de cabeça (PC) demonstrou-se maior no grupo GDP (p=0,001) e neste grupo, maior na reavaliação do que na avaliação inicial (p=0,007). A lordose lombar (LL) em ambos os grupos, foi também estatisticamente maior na reavaliação (p=0,03). Observou-se ainda na análise dinâmica, PC e Lordose Cervical (LC) maiores no grupo GDP, do que em GC (p=0,015 e p=0,004 respectivamente). O ângulo tíbio-társico (ATT) foi maior no grupo GC do que em GDP independente da avaliação (p=0,03). Portanto, conclui-se entre todas as variáveis posturais e da marcha analisadas, a CN apenas provocou aumento de PC no grupo GDP e de LL em ambos os grupos.

Este artigo analisa a construção histórica contemporânea da Administração Pública Brasileira com base nas três propostas de reforma posteriores à promulgação da Constituição Federal de 1988, a partir da descrição de quatro documentos: Plano Diretor da Reforma do Aparelho do Estado (1995), Emenda Constitucional nº 19 de 1998, Agenda Nacional de Gestão Pública (2009) e Proposta de Emenda Constitucional nº 32 de 2020. Em seguida, relaciona os documentos entre si, em busca de características convergentes ou divergentes, além de tentar identificar à qual concepção de Administração Pública mais se adequam. Nesse contexto, destaca-se que um dos documentos estudados é uma Proposta de Emenda Constitucional, apresentada em meio a pandemia de Covid-19 pelo Poder Executivo. Após a análise dos documentos, conclui-se que apenas um modelo de Administração Pública foi sendo praticado governo após governo, de diferentes formas, mas sempre com o mesmo objetivo, realizando um processo cíclico. Sugere-se que a forma como a Gestão Pública tem respondido às demandas da sociedade na pandemia traz elementos importantes para pensar o modelo da Administração Pública que precisamos para salvar vidas e pensar um Estado que responda às demandas da sociedade.

Introdução: As mortes causadas pelas doenças cardiovasculares poderiam ser evitadas ou postergadas através de estratégias mais eficientes em relação à prevenção primária e/ou secundária e do tratamento adequado dos fatores de risco para as doenças cardiovasculares (FRCV) a partir de pesquisas epidemiológicas em saúde coletiva. Objetivo: Traçar o perfil epidemiológico de indivíduos eletivos para cirurgia de revascularização do miocárdio na região de Marília, SP, Brasil. Metodologia: Foi realizada entrevista inicial e anamnese contendo os FRCV existentes, questionário de nível de atividade física (Baecke) e nível de ansiedade e depressão (HAD). Os indivíduos foram avaliados em relação à obesidade global e abdominal. Os dados foram organizados sob a forma de estatística descritiva, com valores de média e desvio padrão. As variáveis categóricas foram descritas sob a forma de distribuição de frequência relativa e absoluta. Resultados e Conclusão: No período de janeiro a dezembro de 2017 foram triados 49 indivíduos, desses, 20 tiveram condições de comparecer a avaliação e compuseram a amostra dessa pesquisa. A média de idade do grupo foi de 61,2±7,01 anos. Os FRCVs encontrados foram o sedentarismo (100%), hipertensão arterial sistêmica (95%), antecedentes familiares com histórico de comprometimento cardiovascular (90%), obesidade abdominal (90%), dislipidemia (75%), diabetes mellitus (55%), tabagismo atual (40%), obesidade global (35%), tabagismo prévio (20%), depressão/ansiedade (20%) e consumo de álcool (15%). O número mínimo de fatores de risco associados foi 3 (10%) e máximo 8 (10%), e quase metade da amostra possuía pelo menos 6 fatores de risco associados (40%). Houve predominância de pacientes masculinos brancos, casados, com média de idade de 61,2 anos, com renda mensal e grau de escolaridade precários e em ocupações consideradas de alto risco. É imprescindível que as estratégias de promoção da saúde abordem o conjunto de fatores de risco nas mais diferentes classes sociais, de gêneros, idade e etnias.

Left ventricular ejection function (LVEF) is not reliable in identifying subtle systolic dysfunction. Speckle Tracking (ST) plays a promising role and hemodynamic forces (HDFs) are emerging as marker of LV function. The role of LV myocardial deformation and HDFs was investigated in a cohort of patients with aortic stenosis (AS) and normal LVEF. Two hundred fifty three patients (median age 79 years, IQR 73 - 83 years) with mild (n = 87), moderate (n =77) and severe AS (n =89) were retrospectively enrolled. 2D echocardiographic global longitudinal strain (GLS), circumferential strain (GCS) and HDFs were determined. The worsening of AS was associated with raising inappropriate LV mass (p < 0.001) and declined LVEF, despite being in the normal range (p < 0.001). ST and HDFs parameters declined as the AS became severe (p -19,9%) and LV systolic longitudinal force (LVsysLF) value (< 12,49), patients with impaired ST and lower HDFs components had increased incidence of aortic valve replacement (AVR) and worse survival (p

Background The association between chronic neuropathic pain in childhood, left ventricular hypertrophy(LVH), early ischemic stroke and unexplained renal failure is suggestive of FD. However, because of the heterogeneity of the genetic substrate, different and more subtle phenotypic manifestations are possible as well as single organ involvement. Diagnostic criteria require an initial measurement of both alpha-galactosidase A (α-Gal-A) activity levels in leukocytes and globotriaosylsphingosine (LysoGb3, a glycosphingolipid derivative) concentration. Genetic testing is needed to confirm the diagnosis if α-Gal-A is decreased or absent and Lyso-Gb3 is increased. Case report A 35-year-old man was referred to our outpatient cardiology clinic at the beginning of summer 2022. He had a family history of sudden death, he had no cardiovascular risk factors and a history of severe acral pain during childhood. On medical background, he had undergone renal transplantation after two years of hemodialysis therapy due to nephroangiosclerosis and tubulointerstitial nephritis, identified in renal biopsy. On physical examination were visible neither angiokeratomas nor ocular manifestations. ECG showed LV hypertrophy and a transthoracic ECO confirmed LV concentric hypertrophy, a preserved LV ejection fraction and the presence of unexplained subtle LV systolic dysfunction due to an abnormal LV global longitudinal strain. Laboratory tests revealed normal serum creatinine and elevated NT-ProBNP levels. Unfortunately, a CMR examination was not performed because of the patient's claustrophobia. Genetic and enzymatic analyses were performed on the high suspicion of a cardiac storage disorder. The enzymatic activity of α-Gal-A and lyso-Gb3 concentration was within normal values, whereas genetic analysis detected a missense mutation (c.376A>G) in exon 3 causing an amino acid substitution (p.S126G). The suspicion of FD was confirmed. Discussion This is an interesting case with a diagnosis of FD that is controversial for several reasons. The c.376A>G is a rare mutation, found mainly in female patients with normal α-Gal-A and LysoGb3 levels ​​and associated with isolated renal failure. In addition, this variant is typically responsible for the late onset of the disease, occurring after 40 years of age2,8–11. Our patient is young and presents early cardiac and severe nephrological involvement, both typical clinical features of FD. A normal activity of α-Gal-A is consistent with the missense gene mutation: enzyme activity appears to be normal up to at least 90-95% reduction of function. To date, there is little evidence in the scientific literature of similar cases and the clinical presentations associated with this mutation are contradictory. Since 2002, c.376A>G has been known to be a pathogenetic variant of FD12, in 2010 it was associated to late-onset disease13. However, in the International Fabry Disease Genotype-Phenotype Database, it is considered a likely benign variant of FD2. Conclusion In this case report, we emphasize that high clinical suspicion should lead to more diagnostic evaluations, including genetic testing in the daily routine. Additional studies are needed to better understand the role of the c.376 A>G mutation in the FD.

Adult patients with simple congenital heart disease (sACHD) represent an expanding population vulnerable to atrial arrhythmias (AA). CHA2DS2-VASc score estimates thromboembolic risk in non-valvular atrial fibrillation patients. We investigated the prognostic role of CHA2DS2-VASc score in a non-selected sACHD population regardless of cardiac rhythm. Between November 2009 and June 2018, 427 sACHD patients (377 in sinus rhythm, 50 in AA) were consecutively referred to our ACHD service. Cardiovascular hospitalization and/or all-cause death were considered as composite primary end-point. Patients were divided into group A with CHA2DS2-VASc score = 0 or 1 point, and group B with a score greater than 1 point. Group B included 197 patients (46%) who were older with larger prevalence of cardiovascular risk factors than group A. During a mean follow-up of 70 months (IQR 40–93), primary end-point occurred in 94 patients (22%): 72 (37%) in group B and 22 (10%, p < 0.001) in group A. Rate of death for all causes was also significantly higher in the group B than A (22% vs 2%, respectively, p < 0.001). Multivariable Cox regression analysis revealed that CHA2DS2-VASc score was independently related to the primary end-point (HR 1.84 [1.22–2.77], p = 0.004) together with retrospective AA, stroke/TIA/peripheral thromboembolism and diabetes. Furthermore, CHA2DS2-VASc score independently predicted primary end-point in the large subgroup of 377 patients with sinus rhythm (HR 2.79 [1.54–5.07], p = 0.01). In conclusion, CHA2DS2-VASc score accurately stratifies sACHD patients with different risk for adverse clinical events in the long term regardless of cardiac rhythm.

A pesquisa apresentada neste artigo consiste em um levantamento arquitetônico das edificações religiosas localizadas nas Superquadras do Plano Piloto de Brasília-DF. A proposta partiu do reconhecimento prévio da ausência de informações a respeito dessa tipologia nos estudos sobre a arquitetura de Brasília e, portanto, da necessidade de investigação e divulgação dessas edificações. A pesquisa se desenvolveu como uma catalogação, apoiada em uma abordagem de cunho descritivo e analítico. Objetivou-se, além do levantamento e da documentação, analisar os princípios e condicionantes que regem as formas e linguagens arquitetônicas dessas edificações. Para tanto, foram feitos levantamentos in loco, com registros fotográficos e anotações, sistematizados por meio de fichas, e consultas aos registros e aos responsáveis pela administração das instituições. Foi mapeado o total de vinte e sete edificações, com datas de construção entre 1958 (período da construção da cidade) até 2007. Os dados registrados abrangem a identificação da edificação e sua localização; o ano de construção; a religião a qual está vinculada; o uso para o qual foi projetada; os responsáveis pelo projeto; reformas significativas; e uma breve descrição formal. Acredita-se, assim, que esse trabalho poderá contribuir com a construção do conhecimento de uma parte da história da arquitetura de Brasília ainda pouco explorada.

We report a prosthetic joint septic arthritis case caused by Gordonia jacobaea in an immunocompromised woman with catheter-related bacteraemia, supporting Gordonia species as opportunistic emerging human pathogens. Microbiological diagnosis was challenging and required molecular methods for accurate identification. The patient responded well to catheter replacement, knee prothesis lavage and antibiotics.

Objetivo: compartilhar experiências sobre a utilização de metodologias ativas na graduação em Enfermagem, como forma de qualificar o processo ensino-aprendizagem. Descrição da experiência no primeiro semestre de 2019, docentes de dois componentes curriculares da primeira e da quinta fases do curso de graduação em Enfermagem de uma Universidade Federal do Sul do Brasil, organizaram dinâmicas interativas e lúdicas para abordagem de conteúdos programáticos das disciplinas. Discussão: as atividades despertaram nos estudantes criatividade, ampliação do conhecimento, diálogo, reflexão, desenvolvimento do trabalho em equipe, pois se colocaram como protagonistas no processo ensino-aprendizagem, proporcionando maior satisfação para educador e educando, bem como estímulo na continuidade do uso de metodologias ativas no ensino da Enfermagem. Conclusão: a incorporação de metodologias ativas na formação em enfermagem fomenta o protagonismo do estudante e a formação de enfermeiros condizentes com as demandas da sociedade e do Sistema Único de Saúde.

Bovine mastitis is an inflammation of the mammary gland in dairy cattle usually caused by bacterial agents and cefquinome is a fourth-generation cephalosporin commonly used in treatment of this disease caused by Staphylococcus spp. in lactating cows due to a broad spectrum. On the other hand, biofilm formation provides protection for bacteria increasing the resistance to antibiotics and contributing to the persistence of infection. The objective of the present study was to assess if biofilm produced by Staphylococcus spp was able to protect the bacteria from cefquinome sulfate (CFQ) action for 24h exposure. Our findings showed that 95% (n=53/56) of Staphylococcus spp. were biofilm producer and the biofilm protected the most of species tested, except S. xylosus maybe due to the formation of a thin layer biofilm that did not interfere in the antimicrobial action. Thus, the effectiveness of cefquinome in persistent infections may be compromised due to a thicker biofilm.

Summary Background & aims Mixed oil intravenous lipid emulsion (MO ILE) that contains 30% soybean oil (SO), 30% medium chain triglycerides, 25% olive oil and 15% fish oil can benefit hospitalized patients receiving parenteral nutrition (PN) but there are very few studies on its long-term use. Our goal was to evaluate the clinical outcomes of adults receiving home PN (HPN) with MO versus those receiving SO ILE over a 2-year period. Method This is a retrospective analysis of data collected prospectively from a cohort of patients recorded in the Canadian HPN Registry over a 2-year period. HPN patients from academic programs across Canada were entered in the Registry according to a validated protocol. For this study, demographic, nutritional, laboratory and clinical data were extracted from January 1st 2015, when MO lipid emulsion became available in Canada, to July 24th 2019. Clinical data for each patient included: number of hospitalizations, number of hospitalizations related to HPN and number of hospitalization days related to HPN, over a year; incidence of line sepsis per 1000 catheter days and mortality. Data are presented as median (1st, 3rd quartile) for continuous variables and frequency (percentage) for categorical variables. Comparisons between groups were performed using two sample t-test or Wilcoxon Rank Sum tests for continuous variables and Chi-square tests or Fisher's exact tests for categorical variables. Univariate and multiple linear regressions were also carried out. Statistical significance is set at a p-value Results A total of 120 patients were included (MO n = 68, SO n = 52). Significant differences at baseline between the two groups were a higher use of Hickman line (62.12% vs 42%, p = 0.038) and more western Canada based hospital care with MO (75% vs 42.31%, p = 0.0002). The MO group had significantly more hospitalizations (p = 0.001), more hospitalizations related to HPN (p = 0.012) and more hospitalization days related to HPN (p = 0.016) per patient per year compared to SO patients. There was no significant difference between groups for line sepsis per 1000 catheter days (MO: 0.05 (0.0, 1.0) vs SO: 0.0 (0.0, 0.22), p = 0.053) or mortality. All other variables, including biochemical variables, were similar between groups. In a multiple regression analysis, the following factors were significantly associated with a greater number of hospitalizations per patient per year: use of MO, high blood glucose from the last recorded value and having died by the end of the study period. Conclusion This 2-year prospective cohort study suggests an increased risk of hospitalization in HPN patients receiving MO lipid emulsion. The long-term effect of using MO lipid emulsion in HPN patients should be further evaluated using a large randomized controlled trial. The study was registered in clinicaltrials.gov (NCT02299466).

Background Surface electromyography (sEMG) can provide information on muscle activation patterns during gait. Objectives To characterize electromyographic activity during gait in shallow water and during deep-water running compare to on land and to review and analyse underwater surface-electromyographic (sEMG) procedures. Search methods Eight databases (MEDLINE, EMBASE, WEB OF SCIENCE, SPORT Discus, CINAHL, SCOPUS, SCIELO, and LILACS) were searched from their inception to the December of 2019. Selection criteria The selected studies had to be related to electromyographic analysis of gait in an aquatic environment. Data collection and analysis The studies that met the inclusion criteria were reviewed by two independent reviewers and divided into four groups. Results Ten studies met the inclusion criteria. Lower muscle activation was found with treadmill water walking compared to treadmill land walking. With deep-water running, the leg muscles (tibialis anterior and gastrocnemius lateralis) have lower muscle activation when compared to on land running, but the trunk and thigh muscles have higher activation. Conclusion If gait is performed on an aquatic treadmill, the muscles assessed had lower muscle activation when compared to land. During deep-water running activities, lower activation of the distal leg muscles and a higher activation thigh muscles were found when compared to on land. Studies did not follow standard processes in sEMG procedures.

Introduction: Soccer is the most played sport in the world and the one that causes more injuries. Imbalance between knee flexor and extensor is the main cause of muscle injuries in soccer players. Objective: The aim of this study was to verify the asymmetry and the correlation between the strength and flexibility of knee flexor and extensor as well as the difference of these variables between the right and left limbs in youth soccer players. Method: The sample consisted of 45 male youth soccer players for at least a year, aged between 13 and 16 years (14.7+0.86). The athletes underwent an assessment of flexibility of the posterior chain through the sit and reach test on Wells’ Bench and an assessment of flexibility of the quadriceps using the Ely’s test, with measurement of passive range of motion by goniometry. The peak of muscle strength was measured using a load cell (EMG  System, Brazil). Results: Data analysis showed difference between the values obtained in the Ely’s test of right and left leg (p=0,03), which did not happen for flexion strength (p=0.45), extension (p=0.41) and H:Q ratio (p = 0.40) when comparing the two members. It was observed a significant negative correlation between the H:Q ratio and the flexibility of the posterior chain test either for the right side (r=-0.40; p=0.006) or left side (r=-0.50; p=0.0004). Also a significant positive correlation was observed between quadriceps strength and flexibility of the posterior chain, both for the right (r=0.31; p=0.03) and the left side (r=0.32; p=0.02). Just for the left side a significant positive correlation was observed when compared the flexor muscle strength with the flexibility of the quadriceps (r=0.30; p=0.03). Conclusion: We conclude from this study that the flexibility of the posterior chain may be related to the strength of the antagonists, however, when the two physical qualities were compared in the same muscles, it showed no correlation.

Introduction: Given the intimate connection of the temporomandibular joint in the cervical region and its functions of chewing, speech and swallowing, patients with temporomandibular disorders (TMD) have most painful condition in stomathognatic muscles. Objective: Check for differences in pressure pain threshold of the masseter (MS), temporalis (TM), upper trapezius (UT) and sternocleidomastoid (SCM) muscles in different types of TMD. Method: Participated in the research 97 subjects, classified according to “The Research Diagnostic Criteria for Temporomandibular Disorders (RDC/TMD)”: myofascial pain (TMD IA), myofascial pain with limited opening (TMD IB), disc displacement with reduction (TMD IIA), disc displacement without reduction and with limited opening (TMD IIB), disc displacement without reduction and without limited opening (TMD IIC). For measurement of the pressure pain threshold (PPT) was used the pressure algometry program (Kratos) of the TM, MS, UT and SCM muscles. For statistical analysis was used the Graphpad Instat program with the Kruskal-Wallis test. Results: The sample consisted of 67 women and 30 men with an average age of 22.09 ± 5.45 years. Of these subjects, 40 were classified as “with TMD”, 57 as “without TMD”, 34 as “TMD IA”, 16 as “TMD IB”, 14 as “TMD IIA” and nobody as “TMD IIB” and “TMD IIC”. The MS, TM and UT muscles showed decreased threshold in myogenic groups of TMD with relation to the group without TMD. Only the masseter muscle showed statistical significance when compared to the myogenic groups with each other, demonstrating that the IB group has lower PPT. Individuals with TMD IB showed lower PPT of MS, TM and UT muscles when compared to TMD IIA. Conclusion: There is a significant difference comparing the PTT of MS, TM and UT muscles of myofascial pain subgroup to the subgroup without TMD. There were differences between the groups myogenic in PPT of MS. TMD IB showed lower threshold in TMD IB group than in TMD IIA group. Controversially, it was not observed when comparing the SCM muscle and disc displacement subgroup with the subgroup without TMD.

Objective The aims of this study were to evaluate the center of pressure (CoP) in individuals with chronic low back pain (LBP) compared with matched controls and perform discriminant analysis to detect which CoP variables differentiate the groups. Methods Thirty-two participants with LBP and 33 matched controls were evaluated on a force plate in a bipedal static position for 30 seconds in 2 conditions: eyes open (EO) and eyes closed (EC). Two discriminant analyzes were performed to detect which CoP variables could discriminate between groups. Results Those with LBP had higher values (ie, poorer balance) for most variables compared with the control group. With EO, total displacement of sway (TDS) was as follows: LBP group (median [25%-75%]) 31.77 (26.39-41.79) cm, control group 27.21 (22.29-31.78) cm, P = .008 and area: LBP group 3.31 (2.33-4.68) cm2, control group 1.77 (1.3-2.71) cm2. With EC, TDS was as follows: LBP group 49.6 (39.65-68.15) cm, control group 38.77 (30.36; 45.65) cm, P = .003 and area: LBP group 4.68 (2.6-7.28) cm2, control group 2.4 (2.1-3.34) cm2. The discriminating variables in the EO condition were the TDS for the LBP group and the anteroposterior mean velocity for the control group, while in the EC condition they were mediolateral dispersion and area for the LBP group. Conclusion Individuals with chronic LBP had worse postural control performance than matched controls, and it is possible to characterize those with and without LBP with CoP variables.

Foodborne infections caused by Salmonella have been linked to a variety of poultry products. The aim of this study was to compare the molecular profile of virulence genes considering different serotypes of Salmonella, isolates were from chicken breast sampled during the last two decades (1999 to 2010 and 2011 to 2018). The resistance to antimicrobials was also evaluated, establishing a comparative epidemiological parameter on the pathogenic potential on this bacterium over time. We tested 238 Salmonella isolates, and 18 different serotypes were observed. These being S. Enteritidis (42.3%, 58/137) and S. Ohio (28.3%, 36/137), the most frequent in the first decade; and S. Heidelberg (25.7%, 26/101) and S. Typhimurium (21.8%, 22/101), in the second. We found four (1.68%) multidrug resistant isolates from the first decade and 28 (11.76%) in the second. All extended spectrum beta-lactamase (ESBL) positive isolates belonged to the S. Heidelberg serotype, and were also detected in the second decade. Considering the nine different antimicrobial classes tested, an increase in the number of resistant isolates was observed over time: from five classes with resistant isolates in the first decade to eight classes in the second, with cefotaxime being the antimicrobial with the highest number of resistant isolates in both decades. All isolates (100%) presented the invA, sitC and tolC genes. In sequence, the most frequent genes were flgL (99.6%), sopB (98.3%), flgK (97.9%), fljB (96.6%), sipA (94.9%), sipB (88.6%), sifA (86.4%), sipD (66.1%), ssaR (51.3%), sopD (37.3%) and spvB (34.3%) was the least frequent; and 13 isolates showing all 14 virulence genes investigated. The ability of these isolates to resist certain antimicrobials, and to express genes encoding virulence factors, reinforce their marked pathogenic potential; while the possibility to trigger diseases in humans through the food chain is a serious public health threat through.

Este artigo destaca a importância do planejamento pedagógico para a Educação Infantil à luz dos fundamentos da pedagogia histórico-crítica. Sendo a Educação Infantil, parte integrante da educação escolar, é responsável pela transmissão planejada dos conhecimentos historicamente sistematizados. Para tanto, a aprendizagem implica em um ensino organizado e sistematizado com práticas fundamentadas na teoria e mediante a intencionalidade do professor, fornecendo às crianças pequenas subsídios para a socialização do patrimônio cultural da humanidade. Este estudo foi realizado por meio de pesquisa bibliográfica com base nos fundamentos da teoria pedagógica histórico-crítica e do método dialético.

A 78 years old woman presented in our cardio–oncology out–patient clinic to renew apixaban treatment plan. In her medical history she was a former smoker, with a chronic kidney disease in IIIb stadium according to KDIGOI guidelines with a creatinine of 1,54 mg/dl, GFR according CKD 32 ml/min/1.73m2 and according Cockcroft e Gault 28 ml/min/1.73m2. In 2010, she had a right lobe pulmonary cancer diagnosis treated in neo–adjuvant with gemcitabine. After chemotherapy, she underwent surgical lobectomy. During hospitalization she had a deep venous thrombosis complicated by pulmonary thromboembolism, heparin sc was given with resolution of the clinical picture. In 2012 she had a recurrence of pulmonary thromboembolism. Heparin and warfarin in a second time was given. In 2016 for cancer disease progression, she underwent various oncological treatments and she found a stability disease with osimertinib and stereotaxic radiotherapy. Warfarin was switched to apixaban low–doses for low weight and chronic kidney disease. In 2021 in osimertinib therapy, cancer was under control. She was continuing low–dose apixaban. One year later, a CT scan demonstrated a disease progression and inferior cava venous thrombosis. A cardiac evaluation in our unit was required: patients was asymptomatic. EKG and Echocardiogram were normal. Apixaban low dose was changed to edoxaban 30 mg. There was a complete vein recanalization. Unfortunately, patient died after 8 months for cancer. It is important, in the direct oral anticoagulation therapy in cancer patient, to consider not only the indication for dose reduction known by the registration studies but also cancer and therapy factors.

Este relato de experiência consiste na apresentação das atividades realizadas pelo Comitê de Apoio às Ocupações, de Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, entre os anos de 2016 e 2017, direcionado ao apoio multidisciplinar a atos e ocupações com finalidade política. O Comitê tem como objetivos: (I) realizar apoio administrativo, jurídico e pedagógico às ocupações, (II) divulgar informes e materiais produzidos, (III) contribuir para o debate sobre as ocupações e (IV) propor reflexões sobre a elaboração de um modelo alternativo de assessoria popular, fundado na defesa do protagonismo dos atores ocupantes. O presente dossiê abrange as principais atuações do CAO durante os anos de 2016 e 2017.

Um dos assuntos mais polêmicos e questionados por aqueles que se dedicam a pesquisa da cultura de cana-de-açúcar, é a resposta das diferentes variedades à adubação nitrogenada. Vários estudos realizados com cana-planta em condições de solos tropicais tem demonstrado que, por mais ilógico que possa parecer, a cultura na maioria das vezes não responde às adubações nitrogenadas. Objetivando conhecer e analisar o comportamento de distintas variedades colocadas no mercado pela Coopersucar, frente a esse tipo de adubação, realizou-se o presente estudo onde utilizou-se o sulfato de amônio como fonte de nitrogênio em doses crescentes, o superfosfato simples e o cloreto de potássio como fontes de P2O5 e K2O respectivamente em doses fixas. Em função dos resultados obtidos pode-se concluir que a maioria das variedades não reagiram a esta adubação, ainda que diferenças no comportamento delas tivessem sido observadas. Outro aspecto positivo do trabalho é a indicação da variedade SP 70-3449 como detentora da maior produção. Nitrogen fertilization of sugar cane is a very polemical subject, because of lack of response of this crop to some forms of nitrogen. ln order to know the behaviour of some sugar cane varieties sold by COOPERSUCAR, an experiment was carried out with Ammonium Sulfate, Superphosphate and Potassium cloride as sources of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium. The main conclusions were as follows: 1. Results did not show any signficant effect of nitrogen for the most of varieties studied. 2. the sugar cane variety identified as SP 70-3449 presented the highest production. 3. the NA 56-79, a sugar cane variety, show better Pols results tham any other studied.

RESUMO Introdução: Embora seja central na história política brasileira, a eleição presidencial de 1989 foi objeto de poucos estudos sistemáticos quantitativos acerca de seus determinantes. Neste artigo, aplicamos diversos modelos que permitem testar de modo mais apropriado as principais teses presentes na literatura, a saber: 1) a de que a vitória de Collor de Mello se deveu aos votos dos “grotões” (localidades pequenas, pobres e rurais); 2) a de que o sistema partidário não estruturou a direção do voto; e 3) quando o sistema partidário o fez, foi por meio de máquinas partidárias locais. Materiais e Métodos: Elaboramos um banco de dados original com os resultados eleitorais de 1989 e informações político-partidárias, sociais e econômicas de todos os municípios brasileiros e aplicamos modelos de regressão espacial. Além disso, replicamos um estudo de caso sobre a distribuição dos votos nas Zonas Eleitorais da cidade de São Paulo. Resultados: Os resultados mostram evidências dúbias para as teses dominantes, pois, de um lado, não permitem caracterizar a base de Collor de Mello como assentada nas localidades mais vulneráveis, dados os efeitos encontrados em direções opostas entre as variáveis testadas, e, de outro, ressaltam a importância local dos partidos de esquerda na estruturação do voto, com pouco efeito das máquinas partidárias. Discussão: Substantivamente, os achados apontam que a disputa de 1989 é mais complexa e não “exótica”, em termos comparados, tal como a literatura costuma ressaltar. O eleitorado de localidades pobres e os pobres das cidades ricas não se mostraram cativos da direita ou de discursos populistas. Metodologicamente, ressaltamos a importância de serem consideradas as diferentes dimensões geográficas no estudo das eleições. ABSTRACT Introduction: The 1989 presidential election in Brazil was the object of few systematic quantitative studies about its determinants, despite being central in Brazilian political history. In this paper, we apply several models that allow us to more appropriately test the main theses present in the literature, namely: 1) that the victory of Collor de Mello was due to the votes of the small, poor and rural areas; 2) that the party system has not structured the direction of the vote; and 3) when the party system structured the direction of the vote, it was through local party machines. Materials and Methods: We elaborate an original database containing the 1989 election results as well as political-party, social and economic information for all Brazilian municipalities and apply spatial regression models. In addition, we replicate a case study on the distribution of votes in the Electoral Zones of the city of São Paulo. Results: The results show dubious evidence for the main theses, since, on the one hand, they do not allow us to characterize the base of Collor de Mello as being based in the most vulnerable localities, given the effects found in opposite directions among the variables tested, and, on the other hand, they highlight the local importance of the left-wing parties in structuring the direction of the vote, and little effect of the party machines. Discussion: Substantively, the findings indicate that the 1989 race is more complex and not “exotic” in comparative terms, as the literature usually emphasizes. The electorate in poor localities and the poor in rich cities were not captive to the right or to populist discourses. Methodologically, we emphasize the importance of considering the different geographic dimensions in the study of elections.

A 27-year-old man had an incidental finding of sisto-diastolic murmur during a screening medical evaluation. Transthoracic and subsequent transesophageal echocardiography revealed a saccular enlargement of non-coronary (NC) sinus of Valsalva. The aneurysm extended into the right atrium (RA) and presented a large wall discontinuity, with continuous sisto-diastolic flow from the aorta to the right atrium. Computed tomography confirmed the findings and excluded other associated abnormalities. The patient underwent urgent surgical intervention. Intraoperatively, findings reported a floppy and cribrose saccular aneurysm sprouting from the NC sinus inside the RA. The correction turned out to be very challenging due to the close connection between the aneurysmal wall and the tricuspid valve (TV) and aortic valve (AV) annuli. The aortic NC sinus was excised and replaced with a Dacron patch. Damaging of the TV septal leaflet required repair through a consolidating suture involving the septal leaflet of TV and the corresponding annular insertion. AV replacement was also needed due to damage of the AV NC cusp. No complications occurred during the postoperative stay. Histopathology revealed severe atrophy of muscular and elastic fibres of the aortic wall, elastic fiber fragmentation, replacement fibrosis and extensive deposition of mucopolysaccharides. Sinus of Valsalva aneurysm (SoVA) is a rare condition characterized by an enlargement of the aortic root between the aortic valve and the sinotubular junction. SoVA can be either congenital, as a consequence of weakness of the elastic lamina, or acquired, due to infective, degenerative, or traumatic conditions. A prevalence of 0.09% was described in autopsy series and males are more frequently affected. Acute rupture of SoVA requires emergent surgery because of acute life-threatening haemodynamic instability. Congenital and chronic ruptured SoVA could be asymptomatic. Nevertheless, such incidental finding requires urgent surgical correction due to the possibility of unexpected further rupture, generating massive left-right shunt. The close relationship with nearby anatomical structures is a major issue which should be taken into account. In this perspective multimodality imaging is of paramount importance, allowing for a fine surgical planning and avoidance of complications.

Sudden cardiac death (SCD) is a pivotal health problem worldwide. The identification of subjects at increased risk of SCD is crucial for the accurate selection of candidates for implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) therapy. Current strategies for arrhythmic stratification largely rely on left ventricular (LV) ejection fraction (EF), mostly measured by echocardiography, and New York Heart Association functional status for heart failure with reduced EF. For specific diseases, such as hypertrophic and arrhythmogenic cardiomyopathy, some risk scores have been proposed; however, these scores take into account some parameters that are a partial reflection of the global arrhythmic risk and show a suboptimal accuracy. Thanks to a more comprehensive evaluation, cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) provides insights into the heart muscle (the so-called tissue characterization) identifying cardiac fibrosis as an arrhythmic substrate. Combining sequences before and after administration of contrast media and mapping techniques, CMR is able to characterize the myocardial tissue composition, shedding light on both intracellular and extracellular alterations. Over time, late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) emerged as solid prognostic marker, strongly associated with major arrhythmic events regardless of LVEF, adding incremental value over current strategy in ischemic heart disease and non-ischemic cardiomyopathies. The evidence on a potential prognostic role of mapping imaging is promising. However, mapping techniques require further investigation and standardization. Disclosing the arrhythmic substrate within the myocardium, CMR should be considered as part of a multiparametric approach to personalized arrhythmic stratification.

Background: The early diagnosis of genetically determined dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) could improve the prognosis in mutation carriers. Left ventricular global longitudinal strain (LV GLS) and peak left atrial longitudinal strain (PALS) are promising techniques for the detection of subtle systolic and diastolic dysfunction. We sought to evaluate the prevalence of subtle systolic and diastolic dysfunction by LV GLS and PALS in a cohort of genotype-positive phenotype-negative (GPFN) DCM relatives. Methods and results: In this retrospective study, we analyzed echocardiograms of forty-one GPFN relatives of DCM patients. They were compared with age and sex matched healthy individuals (control group). Reduced LV GLS and PALS were defined as >18% and

The association between left ventricular (LV) myocardial deformation and hemodynamic forces is still mostly unexplored. The normative values and the effects of demographic and technical factors on hemodynamic forces are not known. The authors studied the association between LV myocardial deformation and hemodynamic forces in a large cohort of healthy volunteers. One-hundred seventy-six consecutive subjects (age range, 16–82; 51% women), with no cardiovascular risk factors or any relevant diseases, were enrolled. All subjects underwent an echo-Doppler examination. Both 2D global myocardial and endocardial longitudinal strain (GLS), circumferential strain (GCS), and the hemodynamic forces were measured with new software that enabled to calculate all these values and parameters from the three apical views. Higher LV mass index and larger LV volumes were found in males compared to females (85 ± 17 vs 74 ± 15 g/m2 and 127 ± 28 vs 85 ± 18 ml, p < 0.0001 respectively) while no differences of the mean values of endocardial and myocardial GLS and of myocardial GCS were found (p = ns) and higher endocardial GCS in women (− 30.6 ± 4.2 vs − 31.8 ± 3.7; p = 0.05). LV longitudinal force, LV systolic longitudinal force and LV impulse were higher in men (16.2 ± 5.3 vs 13.2 ± 3.6; 25.1 ± 7.9 vs 19.4 ± 5.6 and 20.4 ± 7 vs 16.6 ± 5.2, p < 0.0001, respectively). A weak but statistically significant decline with age (p < 0.0001) was also found for these force parameters. This new integrated approach could differentiate normality from pathology by providing average deformation values and hemodynamic forces parameters, differentiated by age and gender.

Objective: to understand older adults’ perceptions about how to face COVID-19. Method: a qualitative research study of the participant-action type, with its theoretical basis grounded on Paulo Freire, adapted to the reality of the pandemic. The Research Itinerary stages were followed with an analogy to wine: Thematic Research for color; Coding-Decoding for sweetness and acidity; and Critical Unveiling for alcohol. A virtual Culture Circle was held in August 2020, including 23 older adults from a Cohabitation Center in southern Brazil. Results: Generating Themes: 1) Bitter repercussions of COVID-19, especially fears, insecurity, anxiety, lack of interaction with people, and missing how daily life was before isolation; 2) Sweet repercussions of COVID-19, unveiling hope, faith, reinvention of life, lessons learned, feeling loved, cared for and supported, even if at a distance. Conclusion: maintenance of the older adults’ physical and mental capacity in the face of social tragedies must be guided by guidelines on comprehensive care protocols to prevent diseases and promote health.

Este artigo teve como objetivo investigar os processos pelos quais o individuo se apropria do meio ambiente atraves da percepcao cognitiva e se revelam atraves de seu comportamento. O resultado foi a construcao de um modelo conceitual teorico sobre a percepcao cognitiva do ambiente construido a partir da epistemologia da teoria da autopoiese, que compreende tres pressupostos principais: Ontogenia/Derivada Natural (a construcao historica da vida do sujeito); Conduta (a acao do individuo no meio); e o Acoplamento Estrutural (conjunto de mudancas que o meio provoca na estrutura de um determinado individuo e vice-versa, em uma relacao circular). No modelo, influencias diretas e indiretas formam um sistema autopoietico. A construcao do conhecimento e discussoes acerca dos conceitos de percepcao cognitiva do ambiente construido sao importantes para a expansao e incorporacao de caracteristicas a serem estudadas em uma avaliacao pos-ocupacao (APO).

O câncer de pele é provocado pelo crescimento anormal e descontrolado de células que compõem a pele, acometendo milhares de pessoas a cada ano no Brasil. Estudos demonstram que as possibilidades de desenvolvimento do câncer de pele são reduzidas se os cuidados com a exposição solar forem adotados desde a infância. Sendo assim, o objetivo deste estudo foi analisar as possíveis contribuições do uso de diferentes recursos pedagógicos relacionados ao ensino do tema câncer de pele entre alunos do ensino fundamental de três escolas públicas da região central do estado do RS. Participaram da pesquisa 139 estudantes com idades entre 8 e 13 anos. Os recursos pedagógicos utilizados para a realização das oficinas foram uma cartilha, um folder e um flyer, com ilustrações e atividades a respeito do tema câncer de pele e os meios de prevenção. Os instrumentos de coleta de dados foram o diário de campo e a entrevista semiestruturada. O tratamento dos dados foi baseado em análise de conteúdo e estatística descritiva. Observou-se que os recursos pedagógicos utilizados despertaram o interesse dos estudantes em aprender sobre o tema proposto e foram eficientes para iniciar o processo de alfabetização científica relacionado às funções da pele, desenvolvimento do câncer de pele e fatores que influenciam seu surgimento. Acredita-se que esses recursos contemplaram o primeiro eixo estruturante da alfabetização científica, que se refere à compreensão básica de termos, conhecimentos e conceitos fundamentais que conduzem o aluno a compreender conceitos científicos de forma a significá-los em suas vivências cotidianas.

Objetivos: Aplicação e análise de um protocolo fisioterapêutico para reabilitação da síndrome pós-COVID-19 na atenção primária. Metodologia: Investigação clínica intervencionista e transversal, realizada no centro de saúde Margarida Santos da Silva e no Centro de Saúde Dr. José Archimedes Pedroso Meloni. Foram selecionados 59 voluntários com síndrome pós-COVID-19 com idade entre 18 e 78 anos, que foram entrevistados para coleta de dados antropométricos, patologias concomitantes, uso de medicamentos, oximetria de pulso, pressão arterial sistêmica (PA) e Teste de caminhada de 6 minutos. Foram aplicadas escalas de avaliação de sintomas e estado geral como: Escala de Edmonton (ESA-r), Post-COVID-19 Functional Status Scale (PCFS), bem como instrumentos específicos para avaliação de dor, fadiga e dispneia: McGill Scale, Pulmonary Functional Status and Dyspnea Questionnaire (PFSDQ), Escala Visual Analógica, Índice de Barthel, Escala do Medical Research Council (mMRC), Índice de Dispneia de Base, Escala de Borg. Método estatístico: As variáveis ​​categóricas foram descritas por meio de frequências brutas e porcentagens. As variáveis ​​contínuas foram descritas utilizando mediana e intervalo interquartil, Shapiro-Wilks, Wilcoxon, Rank-Biserial, com nível de significância de 5%. Conclusão: O protocolo mostrou-se seguro e viável na atenção primária, podendo ser realizado com pacientes pós-COVID-19. Portanto, pode ser aplicado, respeitando-se as individualidades da síndrome para atender às necessidades de cada paciente. Todo o protocolo deve considerar as comorbidades que podem afetar o curso clínico e, nesse sentido, sugerimos uma abordagem multidisciplinar no treinamento e aplicação do protocolo.

Objetivo: conhecer a percepção dos gestores municipais quanto ao papel da Secretaria Municipal de Saúde e da Secretaria Estadual de Saúde no processo de regionalização e organização das Redes de Atenção à Saúde. Método: estudo descritivo, exploratório, com abordagem qualitativa. A coleta de dados ocorreu no primeiro semestre de 2016, com 13 gestores municipais de saúde do estado de Santa Catarina. Os dados coletados foram analisados por meio da análise de conteúdo. Resultados: como potencialidades, evidenciou-se o suporte adequado da Secretaria Estadual de Saúde na educação permanente aos municípios e a participação do Conselho Municipal de Saúde na gestão e planejamento, bem como resultados positivos na assistência da Atenção Básica. Em relação às fragilidades, a principal citação foi referente ao repasse insuficiente de recursos financeiros. Conclusão: a cooperação entre municípios, a Comissão Intergestores Regional, as regiões e as Redes são importantes para sustentar a saúde nos pequenos municípios.

Background Maintenance of the medial longitudinal arch (MLA) of the foot is fundamental during functional tasks and disorders can lead to clinical alterations. Studies have demonstrated that deficits in ankle isokinetic performance can predispose an individual to lower limb injuries. Objectives To evaluate the muscular performance of cavus, planus, and normal feet by means of torque/body mass and the isokinetic phases, to generate 3D surface map analysis, and to verify whether there is a relationship between MLA height and arch height flexibility with isokinetic performance. Methods The sample consisted of 105 healthy adult women, divided into three groups: normal, cavus, and planus. Assessment in concentric mode at 30, 60, and 90 °/s in the dorsiflexion and plantarflexion of the ankle joint were analyzed during the three isokinetic phases (acceleration, sustained velocity, and deceleration). The variables total range of motion, peak of torque (PT), and angle of PT were extracted within the sustained velocity. Results In dorsiflexion at 60 °/s, the phase where the velocicty is sustained (load range phase) was higher in the planus group (MeanDifference=10.9 %; ω2p = 0.06) when compared with the cavus group. Deficits in the peak torque/body mass in dorsiflexion at 60 °/s (cavus feet: MD=-3 N.m/kg; ω2p = 0.06; and planus feet: MD=-1.1 N.m/kg; ω2p = 0.06) were also observed as well as in the 3D surface maps, when compared with the normal group. The flexibility of MLA had a negative correlation of PT at 30 °/s in cavus group. The heigth of MLA had a postive correlation with the PT for the cavus and planus group ate 60 °/s. All other results did not show differences between the groups. Conclusions The planus groups showed a better capacity of attain and sustained the velocity in dorsiflexion in relation the cavus group. The cavus and planus group had deficts in torque in relation the normal. The correlations were weak between the measures of MLA and PT. Thereby, in general the differences between foot types showed small effect in isokinetic muscle performance measures of the plantar and dorsi flexores. Trial registration Study design was approved by the IRB (#90238618.8.0000.5231).

BACKGROUND: Aquatic exercises are among the treatments available to improve the quality of life after stroke. OBJECTIVES: To investigate changes in the quality of life after 8-week of aquatic exercises in post-stroke individuals. METHODS: A case series study was designed, including four male participants. Exclusive aquatic exercise was performed for 8-week, 50 minutes per session, 2×/week. Their quality of life was evaluated before and after the intervention using the Stroke Impact Scale (SIS). RESULTS: Participant 1 improved in the mobility domain, achieving a Clinically Important Difference (CID). Participant 2 improved in the strength and mobility domain, achieving CID; his stroke recovery was 6%, and it reached 50% post-intervention. Participant 3 improved in the mobility domain, achieving a CID and a Minimal Detectable Change (MDC); his stroke recovery increased from 45 to 60% post-intervention. Participant 4 improved the strength, mobility, and activities of daily living domains, achieving a CID and a MDC, but his stroke recovery remained unchanged at 80%. CONCLUSIONS: All participants achieved a CID in the mobility domain; thus, the aquatic exercise intervention was considered meaningful. Moreover, the SIS is able to evaluate aspects of the recovery process regarding health-related quality of life after stroke, as demonstrated by the results of the overall recovery after aquatic exercises.

Background The prevalence of low back pain is lower when physical fitness (aerobic and muscular) is higher. Strength exercises are important for subjects with low back pain, but there are few studies on the inclusion of aerobic exercise in low back pain programs. The aim of this study was to compare the effects of aquatic exercises with or without high-intensity component on the functional status, lumbar and abdominal muscle endurance, and performance of subjects with chronic low back pain. Methods Forty-eight volunteers between 20 and 60 years old were randomly allocated to an experimental group AEDWR (aquatic exercises plus deep-water running group, N.=25) or to a control group AE (aquatic exercises only group, N.=23). The dependent variables included functional status (Repeated Sit-to-Stand test), lumbar (Sorensen test) and abdominal (One Minute Abdominal test) muscle endurance, and physical performance (Maximum Physical Fitness test), which were measured before and after the 9-week intervention and at 21 weeks of follow-up. Results Lumbar endurance was higher in the AEDWR group at the end of the treatment, with a mean difference (MD) of 43.2 seconds, 95% confidence intervals (CI) (9.6; 76.7), P=0.01, d=0.74, and better in the follow-up with MD=40.2 seconds, 95% CI (7.1; 73.3), P=0.02, d=0.71, than in the AE group. Participant performance also improved on the 9th week in the AEDWR group, with an MD=0.53 kgf, 95% CI (0.008; 0.98), P=0.02, d=0.60. Conclusions The addition of deep-water running exercise to aquatic exercises improved lumbar muscle endurance and performance when compared with aquatic exercises only, and this effect was maintained during the follow-up to lumbar muscle endurance.

The papaya nectar had recognized as a differentiated form of this fruit, where the industry also gains in time of conservation, since the papaya is an extremely perishable fruit. The aim of this study was to evaluate gamma radiation as a way of conserving papaya nectar. Papaya nectar was developed and subjected to gamma radiation at the dose of 1kGy in a dose tax of 0.356 kGy.hour-1 and compared this treatment with the control (0kGy). According to the results obtained, can be concluded that the dose used was adequate for the conservation of this product for the period evaluated reaching the aim.

Among various apple products, apple porridge is a much consumed product, not only for babies, but also for adults. It is a practical, healthy and tasty product that can be consumed throughout the day. However, it is an extremely perishable product. Therefore, the aim of this work was to evaluate the shelf-life period of apple porridge after the application of gamma radiation as a conservation technology. After the formulation of apple porridge was developed, which was subjected to gamma radiation at the dose of 1kGy in a dose tax of 0.356kGy.hour-1 and compared this treatment with the control (0kGy). From the results presented, it can be concluded that the period of conservation of apple porridge submitted to gamma radiation is 30 days. From the 60th day, the samples showed microbial growth, not being accepted for consumption. In comparison to the control, the use of gamma radiation was promising, since the standard sample showed contamination before 30 days. By the results it can be concluded that the dose used was adequate for the conservation of this product for the period evaluated.

In space and astrophysical plasmas magnetized coherent structures continuously emerge as an outcome of the nonlinear dynamics. These structures are characterized by the presence of localized strong current density peaks. Here we present a statistical study of the development of such structures resulting in different hybrid-Vlasov 3D-3V simulations of plasma turbulence. In particular, we make use of different methods to characterize the global shape of the 3D structures. Furthermore, we study the local magnetic configuration inside and outside current peak regions, comparing the statistics in the two cases. Finally, we discuss correlations between characteristic dimensions of the current structures and current density, marking the difference between magnetic structures in 2D and 3D simulations.

It regulates pivotal patho-physiological processes such as oxidative stress, pulmonary circulation, airway tone and inflammation. Objectives We herein describe the design and synthesis of molecular hybrids obtained by the condensation of several corticosteroids with different hydrogen sulfide releasing moieties. Methods All the molecules are characterized for their ability to release H2S both via amperometric approach and using a fluorescent probe. The chemical stability of the newly synthesized hybrid molecules has been investigated at differing pH values and in human serum. Results Prednisone-TBZ hybrid (compound 7) was selected for further evaluations. The obtained results from the in vitro and in vivo studies clearly show evidence in favor of the anti-inflammatory properties of the released H2S. Conclusions The protective effect on airway remodeling makes the hybrid Prednisone-TBZ (compound 7) as a promising therapeutic option in reducing allergic asthma symptoms and exacerbations.

Objetivo: Relatar a vivência de um Círculo de Cultura virtual, com reflexões sobre o enfrentamento da CoVid-19 e as repercussões para a saúde das gestantes. Método: Relato de experiência de um Círculo de Cultura virtual utilizando o referencial teóricometodológico de Paulo Freire. Participaram dez gestantes de diferentes localidades do Brasil. Os diálogos foram conduzidos com ludicidade, estabelecendo analogia com o desenvolvimento da gravidez: o embrião foi considerado Investigação Temática; o feto, Codificação e Descodificação; o nascimento, Desvelamento Crítico. Resultados: Os diálogos e reflexões emergentes possibilitaram que as gestantes aliviassem suas angústias e medos e ressignificassem suas atitudes, motivando-se mutuamente em prol da saúde, diante das adversidades geradas pela pandemia. Conclusão: O Círculo de Cultura virtual proporcionou interação às gestantes, mesmo estando fisicamente afastadas, configurando-se como possibilidade inovadora na assistência individual e coletiva, nos territórios de atuação das equipes que operam na atenção à saúde, para promover o cuidado no enfrentamento da doença.

Este estudo tem como objetivo analisar as características do meio urbano que afetam a satisfação do indivíduo em seu contexto residencial. A satisfação com o ambiente residencial pode ter influência na qualidade de vida geral do indivíduo, no entanto, busca-se um melhor entendimento se há uma diferença significativa na satisfação entre os gêneros. Os dados foram obtidos em 2019 por meio de um questionário, utilizando o método survey para coleta de dados. Foi verificado se 24 variáveis independentes relacionadas à satisfação do indivíduo e ao meio urbano apresentam diferenças entre homens e mulheres, e como elas influenciam na distinção entre esses dois grupos. Para isso, foram aplicados testes estatísticos e realizada uma análise discriminante. Os resultados mostraram que 68,80% dos casos puderam ser corretamente classificados entre os dois grupos, no entanto, a análise discriminante apontou um baixo nível de diferenciação entre os gêneros com as variáveis selecionadas.
