ERIS (Enhanced Resolution Imager and Spectrograph) is a new adaptive optics instrument installed at the Cassegrain focus of the VLT-UT4 telescope at the Paranal Observatory in Chile. ERIS consists of two near-infrared instruments: SPIFFIER, an integral field unit (IFU) spectrograph covering J to K bands, and NIX, an imager covering J to M bands. ERIS has an adaptive optics system able to work with both LGS and NGS. The Assembly Integration Verification (AIV) phase of ERIS at the Paranal Observatory was carried out starting in December 2021, followed by several commissioning runs in 2022. This contribution will describe the first preliminary results of the on-sky performance of ERIS during its commissioning and the future perspectives based on the preliminary scientific results., Proceeding of SPIE Astronomical Telescopes + Instrumentation 2022

In Phys. Rev. Lett. 128, 137001 (2022), Wang $\textit{et al}.$ address an important problem in the overdoped cuprates, taking the first steps toward understanding the structure of real defects in these materials, in this case the apical oxygen vacancy, $\mathrm{V}_\mathrm{O}$, that sits immediately above the planar Cu. However, the approach taken has some issues, which we outline in this Comment., Comment: Comment on Phys. Rev. Lett. 128, 137001 (2022)

Recently, we have argued that experimental data on superfluid density and terahertz conductivity of overdoped LSCO are compatible with a Landau Fermi liquid/Bardeen-Cooper-Schrieffer description of these samples, provided dopants are treated within "dirty $d$-wave theory" as weak scatterers. Here we test these ideas by comparing to specific heat and thermal conductivity data on LSCO, showing that the theory works extremely well across the overdoped region for similar disorder parameters. We then study the same properties in another overdoped cuprate, Tl-2201, thought to be quite "clean" since it exhibits quantum oscillations, low residual resistivities and small superconducting state Sommerfeld coefficients. Our results are consistent with the Tl-2201 system being $\approx 3$ times cleaner due in part to the dopant atoms' being located further from the CuO$_2$ plane. We conclude that cuprates can be described semiquantitatively in the overdoped regime by "dirty $d$-wave" theory, subject to significant Fermi liquid renormalizations, without introducing physics beyond the Landau-BCS paradigm., Comment: 6 pages, 4 figures, supplemental material

BACKGROUND Pilonidal sinus disease (PSD) is a benign disease caused by hair follicles in sacrococcygeal -region. Despite the use of different methods in treatment, there is no consensus reached for treatment modalities. In this study, we used a whole natal cleft excision and flap (WNCEF) method to remove the natal cleft in cases of extensive sacrococcygeal PSD. METHODS 243 patients with PSD were evaluated retrospectively. 47 patients with extensive sacrococcygeal PSD were included in the study. In these patients, the natal cleft was excised by using a whole natal cleft excision and flap -(WNCEF) method which was performed by an incision to include all the natal cleft (Kite incision) and the remaining defect was closed with a single fasciocutaneous flap by sliding along the midline intergluteal sulcus. RESULTS The mean age of patients was 25.7 years (17-43). The average hospital stay of patients was 2.7 days (2-4), mean operative time was 59 min (35-80), mean duration of drain removal was 2.7 days (2-4), mean postoperative follow-up was 16.4 months (3-24) and mean BMI was 26.9 (22-30). Flap edema occured in one patient (2.1%), seroma in three patients (6.3%) and surgical site infection requiring re-use of antibiotics were observed in two patients (4.2%). Flap -necrosis and failure did not occur in our patients. No recurrence was observed in any patient during an average follow-up of 16 months. CONCLUSIONS In sacrococcygeal PSD treatment, removal of the natal cleft with Kite incision by WNCEF method and shifting of the midline completely are thought to be an effective method that can reduce recurrence.

In this study, the Raman frequency shifts of phonons and vibrons of crystalline anthracene as functions of temperature (at zero pressure) and pressure (at ambient temperature) have-been calculated using the experimental volume data from the literature. This calculation is performed for six phonons and nine vibrons through the mode Gruneisen parameters which have been determined from the Raman frequency and volume data at various pressures. Our predicted Raman frequencies of the phonon modes decrease with increasing temperature (zero pressure) linearly, whereas they increase with increasing pressure (ambient temperature) nonlinearly, as observed experimentally for anthracene. For vibrons, we find that the Raman frequencies are almost independent of temperature and pressure in this crystalline system.

Bu derlemde borderline over tümörlerin epidemiyolojisi, moleküler patogenezi, patolojisi ve klinik tedavi yaklaşımları sunulmuştur., Ovarian tumors of low malignant potential (LMP) are intermediate between benign adenoma and ovarian carcinoma, and are characterized by the absence of destructive stromal invasion, or microinvasion. The age distribution of diagnosis of LMP is younger than that of ovarian carcinoma and LMP is usually diagnosed at an early stage. Therefore, patients with LMP need to make decisions regarding the risks associated with treatments that conserve fertility. Delineation of the molecular pathways involved in the evolution of ovarian cancer would have profound impact on our understanding of its pathogenesis, thereby providing a rational basis for the development of new diagnostic tests, therapeutic and preventive strategies. This review will outline the most recent information regarding the epidemiology, molecular pathogenesis, pathology, and clinical management of these tumors

© 2022 Elsevier B.V.Objective: Objective methods to monitor the sleep of preterm infants at the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) are required to prevent potentially adverse neurodevelopmental outcomes. This study aimed to determine the concordance of actigraphy and amplitude-integrated electroencephalogram (aEEG) against gold standard direct observation (DO) in assessing sleep/wake states of typically developing preterm infants. Methods: This prospective observational study was conducted in a single center level III NICU. Sleep variables were measured using Philips Respironics Mini-Mitter® Actiwatch-2 for 24 h and compared with 8-h matched data of aEEG and DO. Sensitivity-specificity analysis, Cohen's kappa, prevalence-adjusted and bias-adjusted kappa (PABAK), and Bland Altman plots were generated. Results: Seventeen preterm infants were recruited. A total of 11252 epochs were studied. Sensitivity (86.4%), agreement rate (67.9%), and predictive value for wake (47.9%) for the actigraphy were highest at the automatic activity threshold whereas specificity (54.5%) and predictive value for sleep (75.5%) were highest at low threshold. The sensitivity of aEEG was 79.3% and the specificity was 54.3%. At all thresholds, the agreement was largely equivalent with low kappas (0.14–0.17) and PABAK coefficients (0.22–0.35) for actigraphy and DO. Moderate agreement was observed between aEEG and DO according to the PABAK coefficient (0.44). Mean differences in sleep parameters were not different between DO and aEEG as well as DO/aEEG and actigraphy at medium threshold (p > 0.05). Conclusions: Actigraphy at medium threshold can be used in depicting sleep in typically developing preterm infants at NICU. aEEG may be an alternative adjunctive method to actigraphy for the evaluation of sleep/wake states in the NICU setting. Objective: To compare oral and nasal malodor in patients with and without cleft lip and palate (CLP) who had undergone orthodontic therapy. Setting: University of Cumhuriyet, Sivas, Turkey. Patients: The study included 33 patients. Group 1 was composed of 11 patients with CLP. Measurements were taken while they were undergoing treatment with orthodontic fixed appliances. Group 2 included 11 individuals without CLP; measurements were taken during fixed orthodontic therapy. Group 3 consisted of 11 individuals without CLP who did not receive orthodontic therapy. Intervention: Oral malodor, nasal malodor, Gingival Index, Plaque Index, and probing depths were evaluated in each group. Results: Plaque Index, Gingival Index, and probing depths showed no significant differences between groups 1 and 2. BioMed Central Ltd., Background: Orthodontic appliances can enhance plaque accumulation, and this can cause gingival inflammation. Halitosis of oral origin is associated with microbial metabolism on the tongue and in the saliva, dental plaque, and the amount of volatile sulfide-containing compounds. This study used a Halimeter to investigate fixed orthodontic therapy-associated increases in the oral malodor over a year. Methods: Thirteen orthodontic patients with Angle Class I malocclusions receiving fixed orthodontic therapy formed the study group, and 12 dental students without any dental treatment formed the control group. The Halimeter was used to examine oral malodor by detecting volatile sulfur compounds (VSC). Plaque index (PI), gingival index (GI), and probing pocket depth (PPD) were also measured in both groups. The subjects in the study group had one visit before the orthodontic treatment started and seven visits during orthodontic therapy (1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, and 13 months after bonding), while the subjects in the control group had three visits, once per subsequent month. Results: Oral malodor was significantly increased in the fixed orthodontic treatment group during treatment (p < .05). Increases were also observed in the PI, GI, and PPD measures (p < .05). The results of the control group were stable (p > .05).
