Purpose: The depiction of the problems of conflicts and contradictions and graphical portrayal of the web of human relationship among people of varied races in South African society by Coetzee has been identified as the focus of the study. The British rule had an impact on South Africa that comprised the native South Africans or black race, Afrikaners or the white South Africans and the white people of colonial authority. The research has reviewed related research articles, books and research theses done on the novels of J.M. Coetzee to consolidate the data on the portrayal of the web of human relationship among people of varied races in South Africa. A close reading of select novels of Coetzee also reveals the effects of racism and colonial oppression. More importantly, his writings transcend political, geographical and social boundaries to achieve universal significance. The study of related literature in the works of Coetzee further discloses his ability not only to delineate local situations and characters but to infuse them with universal ideology and characteristics of his mission as well. However, the study to achieve research focus has been confined to the web of human relationships. His use of the country's apartheid system and its post-apartheid transition to represent the bareness and desolation of the human state has also been brought under the discussion. Thus, the present study intends to bring out social relationship existing amidst the native South Africans, the Afrikaners or the white South Africans and the people from white authority in apartheid society of South Africa, with specific reference to select novels. Design/Methodology/Approach: The researcher has reviewed almost fifty research articles, fifteen books and fifteen research theses for Master Degree, Master of Philosophy and Doctorate in Philosophy on the novels of Coetzee. Hard copies of some of the books were accessed in the St. Aloysius College library, Mangalore and EFLU library, Hyderabad. The online search was made to collect the database through Google scholar. The studies reviewed are peer reviewed journals, original research papers, National and International Publications. The researcher has referred and followed APA Manuel for the analyses of the research work. Findings/Result: After reviewing a greater number of articles, books and theses it has been found that the multiple interpretations which were given to Coetzee’s novels help to emerge his mission which is more quizzical, more explorative. On reading his novels, one may find out that Coetzee does not stop with describing and delineating local situations and characters, but infuses them with universal ideology and characteristics of his mission. Originality/Value: It’s proven that the web of social relationship and social reality are not a fixed presence; it varies from person to person, place to place, culture to culture, and country to country in any moment or situation. Genuine social and human relationship developed and sustained with the true nobleness of humanity is the means to thwart the ills and troubles of the societal conflicts and contradictions. This report analyzes the economic impact of forced migration on the host country. Specifically, it quantifies the magnitude of the costs associated with the Syrian refugees in Sweden. The results suggest that Syrians tend to accumulate large and persistent deficits over the life cycle. However, the aggregated impact of these deficits is negligible, largely because the Syrian population is much smaller, compared the native-born Swedes. The analysis further demonstrates that only half of the deficits are channeled through the public sector, implying that the fiscal costs of hosting Syrian refugees is quite modest, which is equivalent to about 0.4% of Sweden���s annual GDP., {"references":["Aradhya, S. and E. The paper aims to present a collaborative study on Electronic Customer Relationship Management (eCRM) and Knowledge Management (KM) within four dimensions; technology, knowledge, customer and business based on Resource-based View Theory (RBV). With comprehensive knowledge about customer, SMEs organisations with web presence can provide more customised products and services to individual customers. Hence, the proposition of this paper is the success of e-CRM performance can be improved by interweaving knowledge management concept. This approach is based on four models of CRM, eCRM and KM which are within four dimensions which are technology, knowledge, customer and business based on Resource-based View Theory (RBV). The study identified that CRM Development Stages Model and Balance Scorecard Perspective of eCRM Model provides better fit to the four resource dimensions which in turn can develop a KM-based eCRM model. This paper concludes that eCRM system designed to support KM must be linked closely to the ideas that within the domain of eCRM which can be decentralized and contextualized.This research had only focused exclusively on conceptual and models of past researches; a comprehensive user study, extensive performance and scalability testing is left for future work.A key contribution of this paper is the four models of CRM, eCRM and KM which are analyzed with the four dimensions i.e. technology, knowledge, customer and business based on Resource-based View Theory (RBV).

The National Curriculum Framework 2005 under its guiding principles includes the need to make ‘children sensitive to the environment and the need for its protection’ while living in harmony within oneself and with one’s natural and social environment as an important curricular concern (p6). Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) with its emphasis on fostering of ‘competencies that enable students to find sustainable solutions to demanding issues and prevent conflicts’ in their world is seen as a process towards such a goal. In this regard, Sikkim’s initiative towards achieving this broader aim of education has been an ongoing process in schools of Sikkim. This paper presents, from an educational perspective, integration of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) through practice of Organic farming in government schools in Sikkim. This enables the objective of embedding ESD goals aiming towards development of competencies among learners for sustainable living. The paper also focuses on how the concept of organic farming and green schools has been incorporated into the school curriculum. The process involving schools and the community to work together through a participatory and collaborative approach is enabling all stakeholders of school education to understand and practice the principles of sustainable development with available resources within their communities.

The Integrated Platform Management System (IPMS) on the Queen Elizabeth Class (QEC) Aircraft Carriers for the Royal Navy is the largest and most integrated ship control system ever delivered. To achieve the successful delivery of this system, with a project lifecycle of 15 years, has necessitated the need for un-paralleled alliance working between companies; the deployment of novel, agile processes; the need to produce an architecture that finds a balance between safety and operability; proactive obsolescence management; the need to trade-off customer requirements and expectations with technical and financial risk, plus the alignment of security requirements within an inherently commercial architecture. This paper will present the major challenges faced during the lifecycle of this vast system, in particular it will examine the following areas:- The influencers during the design stages, how they shaped the architecture (hardware and software) together with the optimal and sub-optimal outcomes in both financial and technical terms. The alliance working between the companies involved, showing how the teams were organised in order to flexibly and efficiently match the lifecycle processes, using agile release processes in order to support commissioning, whilst allowing immature systems design to evolve, presenting the areas of good and bad practice. The deployment of robust systems engineering processes and the analysis of their outcomes will be discussed, together with the de-risking processes including early and enhanced integration activities required to manage the 50,000 I/O spread across the 50 interfaces of various types, complexity and maturity. The summary of this paper will present the major risk elements of the project, what the mitigation plan was and the outcomes of these risks, positive and negative. Together with the elements that provided the best cost/benefit ratio in the system delivered to the Royal Navy, it will also summarise the optimal processes and practices, plus those that could be improved upon in future projects.

In the future, the Royal Netherlands Navy (RNLN) will face growing challenges at sea in an environment of ever increasing complexity, variety and speed. Ship systems will continue to evolve and become more interconnected. The ship’s crew will be expected to do more with fewer numbers in less available time. To be able to meet these challenges the RNLN have started the Manning & Automation roadmap to realize effective and integral support for operations on board. A critical requirement for these steps to be made is the integration of information to enable automation to integrally support the crew in their operations. On current ships, information and automation of separate systems often are not integrated and survival relies on the crew connecting the dots of an ever-increasing complexity of data. Furthermore, during incidents crews rely on paper-based systems for Battle Damage Repair management to create an overview and support the ship’s operations. These paper-based systems are slow, fault-sensitive, manpower-intensive and will potentially result in missed opportunities or critical errors, especially in a time-critical State 1 environment. The RNLN have started several projects on the Manning & Automation roadmap to develop integration and automation of the Internal and External battle into an Integrated Mission Management System. This paper will describe the current process and foreseen improvement for Battle Damage Repair management to support a more effective Internal and External Battle on ships of the RNLN with optimised crew numbers. It will demonstrate a large step in effectiveness and crew optimisation can be made by employing existing and emerging technology.

The need to integrate energy storage systems (ESS) with warship power systems to meet future dynamic loads such as high power electric weapons is apparent. This opens up challenges with design integration of ESS with power systems and operational aspects such as steady-state, transient and faulted performance. This paper describes the integration of ESS with a candidate power system as a case study as part of an ongoing timedomain simulation investigation at University College London. The paper describes the models and power management structure of the simulation testbed, that comprises battery based ESS and diesel generators in a hybrid electric power and propulsion system. The results of two scenarios are presented, the first verifies power sharing between a diesel generator and ESS during load levelling under single generator operation, the second illustrates the ability of the ESS to provide ride through power during a generator fault on the main distribution bus. The conclusions suggest that under voltage in the candidate system outside of acceptable limits occurs during fault ride through when in single generator operation.

With the world becoming a global village today, it is normal to attempt to make every development initiative to involve as many states as possible. Collective effort brings more strength which in turn makes it easier to handle common problems. Language problems which are universal and cross-national can be handled better if states that are close to one another (economically, politically geographically) merge their efforts and resources for this purpose. This is why nations of the European Union handle, among many other issues, their linguistic and language problems as one front. This is the responsibility of language specialists, experts and researchers. To be effective and successful, however, such efforts need to be consolidated and coordinated. This paper argues for an ideal Language Council of Eastern Africa (LCEA) and outlines the linguistic objectives and justifications for such an institution in view of the linguistic ecology of the region. In the core of the paper, the main tasks of handling linguistic issues on various fronts are exonerated. This paper contributes to the substantial and growing corpus of research literature that explicates the inextricable relationship(s) between language on the one hand and regional integration and development on the other.

This paper used a desk review approach to deal with the move towards and emphasis given to integration of curriculum content, not only in Kenya but also world over. The purpose of the paper is to bring out the meaning, rationale and arguments about the concept of curriculum integration. The discourse about curriculum integration is important to the policy makers, all those involved and working as curriculum developers, and for the curriculum implementers.&nbsp

The presentation in this paper is based on a research project funded by the Swedish Research Council. The focus of this study is to examine the role that vocational education and training (VET) played and still plays in relation to the challenges that stem/ed from structural changes and immigration that Sweden has experienced from the 1950s to today. From the mid-1800s to the 1990s, Sweden experienced major structural changes: a shift from an agrarian economy, to and industrial based economy and labour market and finally to a post-Fordist knowledge intensive economy and labour market. In this study, we investigate how VET responded to labour market needs that resulted in the shift from industrial economy and labour market to a post- industrial labour market. In addition, the focus is on the role that VET play/ed in the inclusion of immigrants/refugees from the 1950s to today. The project is grounded on frame factor theory as presented by Lundgren (1989). The project consists of two interrelated studies: a historical study of VET and the changes in the VET system from the 1950s to today and two interview studies. The historical study will examine how the delivery and provision of VET has changed over time because of structural changes and immigration, and the role VET has played in the inclusion of immigrants to the labour market from the 1950s to today. In this study we will also look at changes in the organization and curriculum of the car mechanic vocational training from the 1950s to 2020. The historical study will not only shed light on how VET respond(ed) to structural changes and inclusion of immigrants in the Swedish work life from the 1950s to today but will also help to contextualize the interview studies and enrich our analysis of the interviews.

Trough Silicon Via (TSV) is a key enabling technology to achieve the integration of various dies by exploiting the third dimension. This allow the integration of heterogeneous chips in a single package (2.5D integration) or to achieve higher integration densities of transistors (3D integration). These vertical interconnections are widely used for both IC and MEMS devices. This paper reviews TSV technology focusing on their implementation in MEMS sensors with a broad overview on the various fabrication approaches and their constraints in terms of process compatibility. Living together in culturally plural societies poses numerous challenges for members of ethnocultural groups and for the larger society. An important goal of these societies is to achieve positive intercultural relations among all their peoples. Successful management of these relations depends on many factors including a research-based understanding of the historical, political, economic, religious and psychological features of the groups that are in contact. The core question is ‘how we shall we all live together?’ In the project reported in this paper (Mutual Intercultural Relations in Plural Societies; MIRIPS), we seek to provide such research by reviewing three core psychological hypotheses of intercultural relations (multiculturalism, contact and integration) in 21 culturally plural societies. The main goal of the project is to evaluate these hypotheses across societies within the MIRIPS project in order to identify if there are some basic psychological principles that underlie intercultural relations panculturally. If there are, the eventual goal is to employ the findings to propose some policies and programmes that may improve the quality of intercultural relationship globally. An internal meta-analysis using the MIRIPS project data showed that the empirical findings from these societies generally support the validity of the three hypotheses. Implications for the development of policies and programmes to enhance the quality of intercultural relations are discussed.

In modern warships the electrical power and propulsion system is fundamental to the end capability of the vessel. The Type 26 Global Combat Ship will utilise an advanced CODLOG (Combined Diesel Electric or Gas Turbine) propulsion architecture. The integration of this advanced architecture poses a number of engineering challenges and risks. The general philosophy towards de-risking taken at BAE Systems Naval Ships is one of left shifting project risk, whereby risks are considered and mitigated at the earliest opportunity in the development lifecycle. The electrical power generation and distribution system for Type 26 is considered to pose one of the largest integration risks within the Power &Propulsion (P&P) System. There are electrical power and propulsion integration risks in areas such as the overall quality of power supply (QPS), ship performance during transition modes and diesel generator ramp rates. Another key risk is the physical, functional and control integration aspects of the P&P system, with each piece of equipment needing to be integrated with the wider P&P system and the overarching Power Management System. In this paper, the de-risking strategies that have been put in place to minimise risk in respect of the power and propulsion integration system for Type 26 are presented. Chiefly, these activities involve the development and utilisation of computer based mathematical models of the power and propulsion and electrical power systems, and the construction of shore based integration test facilities.

The position ofrefugeesat different levels in the labour market has becomethesubject of heated academic and political debate in Sweden as well as in other EU countries. The debate generally revolves around factors that affect the macro level structure such as employment ofrefugeesand their descendants, economic costs and the benefits of migration and integration. The position of underrepresented groups in the labour market is explained as a consequence of either discrimination or lack of relevant social capital, language skills, job search strategies and job skills, to name a few. This paper has two parts.First,we introduce theproject,Integration and inclusion of migrants in and through their vocation and work.Then we explore literature and identify factorsthatcanpromote or hinder skilledrefugees’access to their original vocation in Sweden.The systematic review points to several factors as central, such asnetworks, language and knowledge of cultural practices.&nbsp

The present paper investigated major reasons behind the failure of an effective technologization of schools and universities in Algeria. It also tackled the issue of teacher-student rapport in an era where the internet has become a rival for teachers. This work questioned the factors contributing to the failure of a successful integration of new technologies in Algerian classrooms. Field observations were required to collect data; four primary schools (private and public, two middle schools), two secondary schools and four universities were the fieldwork of this study. Also, as a case study, I lastly presented my personal experience in technologizing my classes as a university teacher. The results showed that social, cultural, economic and educational factors were behind the failure of a successful integration of ICTs in Algerian classrooms. Moreover, I emphasized that the teacher-learner rapport is in jeopardy because of the chaotic and ineffective penetration of new technological tools in the Algerian classroom.

HMS Queen Elizabeth (QNLZ), procured by the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) for the Royal Navy (RN) from the Aircraft Carrier Alliance (ACA), is the first aircraft carrier in the world to utilise an Integrated Full Electrical Power and Propulsion System (IFEP). While building on the design and lessons learned from the UK RN’s Type 45 Destroyer, the first front line warship to utilise IFEP, it also presented a step change in size and complexity, not only of the high voltage (HV) electrical power and propulsion (P&P) system and its automation control system, but also the ship’s wider distribution, control and auxiliary/ancillary systems, which both rely on and support the HV IFEP. Unlike its forerunner Type 45, QNLZ did not benefit from a full-scale shore-based test demonstrator with the cost/benefit decision being taken to carry the system integration and operational risk into the commissioning and trials phase of the project. The challenge presented to the ACA P&P Sub-Alliance (comprising Thales, GE Power Conversion, Rolls-Royce and L3) was therefore to develop a commissioning and trials strategy, programme and documentation set that would allow all elements of the IFEP to be set-to-work in as safe and efficient a manner as possible, with the goal of gaining acceptance from the MoD by delivering the required capability to the RN. This paper will present the methods adopted during this 10-year programme highlighting; 1. The processes followed to develop and then deliver a holistic integrated system commissioning strategy and plan. 2. The pull through and implementation of lessons learned and derisking from previous programmes. 3. The development of the detailed test and trials documentation to allow the P&P equipment and system to be commissioned, trialled and accepted allowing successful delivery into service. 4. The expected and unexpected challenges faced prior to and during the whole-system commissioning and trials phase and what was done to overcome these. 5. The planning and coordination of system integration and sea trials. 6. The lessons learned, successes and best practice that are being taken forward into the programme for HMS Prince of Wales (PWLS).&nbsp

Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) integration aims to unite the South East Asian countries to promote better opportunities for the member countries in different areas such as economics and education. As a response, Philippine Normal University spearheaded the formation of the Association of Southeast Asian Teacher Education Network to promote collaboration with ASEAN countries and enhance teacher education programs. The formation of AsTEN creates the impetus to explore possibilities for the internationalization of teacher education programs among the ASEAN countries. Thus, the Institute of Teaching and Learning of PNU initiated the Project Teacher Exchange for ASEAN Teachers (TEACH). This paper reports the assessment of the piloting of the Project TEACH as experienced by the Thai participants. Moreover, this research aims to develop a model that can be utilized by other ASEAN communities as they prepare for their own international teacher education programs.

Load forecasting is invaluable to smart micro-grids towards assisting the implementation of energy management schedules for cost-efficient and secure operation. In the present paper is examined the 24h forecasting of excess production in an existing micro-grid. Alternative input parameters are considered for achieving an accurate prediction. The prediction can be used for scheduling the charging process of a thermal storage during weekends based on excess power production levels. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the views of the preschool children of the island of Chios on the integration of refugee children in public kindergartens. Greece, due to its geographical position, is a country that hosts a large number of refugees and immigrants who were aiming to come to our country to improve their living standards and their living conditions (Gotovos, 2002; Damanakis, 1997). A particularly large wave in recent years has come from the east and the Arab countries, with the result that the islands of the North Aegean are welcoming refugees, who are gradually moving to the hinterland. After the massive arrival of refugees and immigrants in our country, the refugee issue is a major issue at all levels: economic, social, political, cultural. Especially after the summer of 2015 where there was an increasing number of refugees, the Ministry of Education, Research and Religious Affairs had announced a plan for the smooth integration of children into Greek education by 2016. The Estonian government has taken many steps in order to integrate minorities into Estonian society. Although some international organisations’ reports indicate to obstacles in equal treatment, still the integration policy during the last twenty years can be described as successful. The latest integration policy paper until 2020 has shown the Estonia is still paying greater attention to the integration policy and cohesion between Estonian and non-Estonian people. Estonian Government has during the decades adopted different programmes in order to develop the integration policy. The main concern is connected with Russian minorities. Although there has been some criticism, still those programmes can be evaluated as successful. The realisation of civil and political rights is sometimes connected with ability to communicate in Estonian. The language requirements seems to be one of the most crucial issue. Although the Estonian government is seeking for opportunities to offer language courses for minorities, it seems to be, that in some regions (e.g. eastern part of Estonia) still the Russian language prevails. Still the necessary information for exercising of the political rights are also provided in Russian. In realisation of economic, social and cultural rights the possible benefits are not connected to citizenship, but to a right to stay in Estonia (permanent or fixed term). Accessing the labour market again the problem of language has been raised. Although there is no case law, still one can observe, that the knowledge of Estonian language gives to a certain extent a better position.

This paper presents the results of a study into somatic development and physical fitness among schoolgirls with mild intellectual disabilities and their able-bodied peers. Comparative analysis of the height and weight of the children was carried out, and results from 60m and 600m runs, long jump, palant ball throw and medicine ball throw were obtained. Analysis of the data, which were collected from 2012 to 2015, revealed no statistically significant differences in somatic development and physical fitness between schoolgirls with mild intellectual disabilities and their able-bodied peers, who constituted a control group. The results obtained indicate that there is a possibility of integrating schoolgirls with this type of disability with their ablebodied peers during physical education lessons and school sports competitions. A comparative study involving team sports would be very important for school practice.

The aim of this paper is to review empirical findings and explanations relevant to the issue when concurrent decisions are integrated and when they are not integrated. There are few directly related studies. Therefore, the review also covers related phenomena involving the effect of a prior outcome on subsequent decisions, sunk-cost effects, and escalation. An important question emerging from the literature review is the question why integration have been obtained in studies of effects of prior outcomes, sunk cost effects, and escalation, at the same time as this has not been the case with concurrent decisions? One reason may be the existence of mental accounting in these studies. Another is that choices are riskless. An idea for further research is to make subjects being able to think through all possible consequences in a concurrent decision problem. By explicitly illuminating the risk or uncertainty to the subjects, it may be possible to obtain integration in concurrent decisions.

The OER movement has tended to define "openness" in terms of access to use and reuse educational materials, and to address the geographical and financial barriers among students, teachers and self-learners with open access to high quality digital educational resources. MOOCs are the continuation of this trend of openness, innovation, and use of technology to provide learning opportunities for large numbers of learners. In the last years, the amount of Open Educational Resources on the Web has increased dramatically, especially thanks to initiatives like OpenCourseWare and other Open Educational Resources movements. The potential of this vast amount of resources is enormous. In this paper an architecture based on Semantic Web technologies and the Linked Data guidelines to support the inclusion of open materials in massive online courses is presented. Linked Data is considered as one of the most effective alternatives for creating global shared information spaces, it has become an interesting approach for discovering and enriching open educational resources data, as well as achieving semantic interoperability and re-use between multiple Open Educational Resources repositories. The notion of Linked Data refers to a set of best practices for publishing, sharing and interconnecting data in RDF format. Educational repositories managers are, in fact, realizing the potential of using Linked Data for describing, discovering, linking and publishing educational data on the Web. This work shows a data architecture based on semantic web technologies that support the discovery and inclusion of open educational materials in massive online courses in engineering education. The authors focus on a type of openness: open of contents as regards re-use and re-mix, i.e. freedom to reuse the material, to combine it with other materials, to adapt and to share it further under an open license.

Openness to Wisdom is mystical as it leads to the re-discovery of the inter-connectedness of the web of life. Feminist theological insights into Wisdom point to the awareness of the Divine in the affairs of humanity and creation. In this integral and inclu­- sive vision of faith which seeks to tear down the walls and patterns that dehumanize and divide humans from creation and from each other is the key for the integration of faith, knowledge and life. &nbsp

To address this problem, a research design was developed, which includes detailed literature review, preliminary model and field survey. From literature review, the factors which influence the effectiveness of virtual teams are identified and these factors are modified using a field survey. The relationship between knowledge workers (people), process and technology in virtual teams is explored in this study. The results of the study suggest that technology and process are tightly correlated and need to be considered early in virtual teams. The use of software as a service, web solution, report generator and tracking system should be incorporated for effectiveness virtual teams.
