In section 8.3 of our paper "Duality and Flat Base Change on Formal Schemes" (http://arXiv.org/abs/alg-geom/9708006) some important results concerning localization of, and preservation of coherence by, basic duality functors, were based on the false statement that any closed formal subscheme of an open subscheme of the completion P of a relative projective space is an open subscheme of a closed formal subscheme of P. In this note, the said results are provided with solid foundations.

In this short note we show that non-negative Ricci curvature is not preserved under Ricci flow for closed manifolds of dimensions four and above, strengthening a previous result of Knopf in \cite{K} for complete non-compact manifolds of bounded curvature. This brings down to four dimensions a similar result B\"ohm and Wilking have for dimensions twelve and above, \cite{BW}. In 1981, Foias, Guillop\'e and Temam proved a priori estimates for arbitrary-order space derivatives of solutions to the Navier-Stokes equation. Such bounds are instructive in the numerical investigation of intermittency often observed in simulations, e.g., numerical study of vorticity moments by Donzis et al. (2013) revealed depletion of nonlinearity that may be responsible for smoothness of solutions to the Navier-Stokes equation. We employ an original method to derive analogous estimates for space derivatives of three-dimensional space-periodic weak solutions to the evolutionary equations of diffusive magnetohydrodynamics. Construction relies on space analyticity of the solutions at almost all times. An auxiliary problem is introduced, and a Sobolev norm of its solutions bounds from below the size in $C^3$ of the region of space analyticity of the solutions to the original problem. We recover the exponents obtained earlier for the hydrodynamic problem. The same approach is also followed here to derive and prove similar a priori bounds for arbitrary-order space derivatives of the first-order time derivative of the weak MHD solutions. In the celebrated paper by Jean Leray, published in JMPA journal in 1933, the invading domains method was proposed to construct D-solutions for the stationary Navier-Stokes flow around obstacle problem. In two dimensions, whether Leray's D-solution achieves the prescribed limiting velocity at spatial infinity became a major open problem since then. In this paper, we solve this problem at small Reynolds numbers. The proof builds on a novel blow-down argument which rescales the invading domains to the unit disc, and the ideas developed in a recent paper [Korobkov-Pileckas-Russo2020], where the nontriviality of Leray solutions in the general case was proved, and [Korobkov-Ren-2021], where the uniqueness result for small Reynolds number was established.

A nonlinear Markov chain is a discrete time stochastic process whose transitions depend on both the current state and the current distribution of the process. The nonlinear Markov chain over an infinite state space can be identified by a continuous mapping (the so-called nonlinear Markov operator) defined on a set of all probability distributions (which is a simplex). In the present paper, we consider a continuous analogue of the mentioned mapping acting on L 1 -spaces. Main aim of the current paper is to investigate projective surjectivity of quadratic stochastic operators (QSO) acting on the set of all probability measures. To prove the main result, we study the surjectivity of infinite dimensional nonlinear Markov operators and apply them to the projective surjectivity of the considered QSO. Furthermore, the obtained results are applied to the existence of the positive solution of some Hammerstein integral equations.

In this paper we investigate the property (HLUR), a generalisation of (LUR) property of a Banach space. A Banach space having the property (HLUR) is called an HLUR space. We characterise (HLUR) property with the help of known geometric properties and study various properties of HLUR spaces. We show that for any finite dimensional Banach space, the property (HLUR) coincides with anti-Daugavet property of the space. We study numerical integration for a weighted Korobov space of analytic periodic functions for which the Fourier coefficients decay exponentially fast. In particular, we are interested in how the error depends on the dimension d . Many recent papers deal with this problem or similar problems and provide matching necessary and sufficient conditions for various notions of tractability. In most cases even simple algorithms are known which allow to achieve these notions of tractability. However, there is a gap in the literature: while for the notion of exponential-weak tractability one knows matching necessary and sufficient conditions, so far no explicit algorithm has been known which yields the desired result. In this paper we close this gap and prove that Korobov lattice rules are suitable algorithms in order to achieve exponential-weak tractability for integration in weighted Korobov spaces of analytic periodic functions.

This paper presents some new propositions related to the fractional order $h$-difference operators, for the case of general quadratic forms and for the polynomial type, which allow proving the stability of fractional order $h$-difference systems, by means of the discrete fractional Lyapunov direct method, using general quadratic Lyapunov functions, and polynomial Lyapunov functions of any positive integer order, respectively. In his PhD thesis, Goosen combined the string-net and the generators-and-relations formalisms for arbitrary once-extended 3-dimensional TQFTs. In this paper we work this out in detail for the simplest non-trivial example, where the underlying spherical fusion category is the category of $\mathbb{Z}/2\mathbb{Z}$-graded vector spaces. This allows us to give an elementary string-net description of the linear maps associated to 3-dimensional bordisms. The string-net formalism also simplifies the description of the mapping class group action in the resulting TQFT. International audience; We present a new notion of solution for mean field games master equations. This notion allows us to work with solutions which are merely continuous. We prove first results of uniqueness and stability for such solutions. It turns out that this notion is helpful to characterize the value function of mean field games of optimal stopping or impulse control and this is the topic of the second half of this paper. The notion of solution we introduce is only useful in the monotone case. We focus in this paper in the finite state space case.

This paper is devoted to a simple proof of the generalized Leibniz rule in bounded domains. The operators under consideration are the so-called spectral Laplacian and the restricted Laplacian. Equations involving such operators have lately been considered by Constantin and Ignatova in the framework of the SQG equation [P. Constantin and M. Ignatova, Critical SQG in bounded domains, Ann. PDE 2 2016, 2, Article ID 8] in bounded domains, and by two of the authors [Q.-H. Nguyen and J. L. Vázquez, Porous medium equation with nonlocal pressure in a bounded domain, Comm. Partial Differential Equations 43 2018, 10, 1502–1539] in the framework of the porous medium with nonlocal pressure in bounded domains. We will use the estimates in this work in a forthcoming paper on the study of porous medium equations with pressure given by Riesz-type potentials.

This paper presents a detailed theoretical analysis of the three stochastic approximation proximal gradient algorithms proposed in our companion paper [49] to set regularization parameters by marginal maximum likelihood estimation. We prove the convergence of a more general stochastic approximation scheme that includes the three algorithms of [49] as special cases. This includes asymptotic and non-asymptotic convergence results with natural and easily verifiable conditions, as well as explicit bounds on the convergence rates. Importantly, the theory is also general in that it can be applied to other intractable optimisation problems. A main novelty of the work is that the stochastic gradient estimates of our scheme are constructed from inexact proximal Markov chain Monte Carlo samplers. In this paper we consider interpolation problem connected with series by integer shifts of Gaussians. Known approaches for these problems met numerical difficulties. Due to it another method is considered based on finite-rank approximations by linear systems. The main result for this approach is to establish correctness of the finite-rank linear system under consideration. And the main result of the paper is to prove correctness of the finite-rank linear system approximation. For that an explicit formula for the main determinant of the linear system is derived to demonstrate that it is non-zero., Comment: 12 pages

Tree-child networks are a recently-described class of directed acyclic graphs that have risen to prominence in phylogenetics (the study of evolutionary trees and networks). Although these networks have a number of attractive mathematical properties, many combinatorial questions concerning them remain intractable. In this paper, we show that endowing these networks with a biologically relevant ranking structure yields mathematically tractable objects, which we term ranked tree-child networks (RTCNs). We explain how to derive exact and explicit combinatorial results concerning the enumeration and generation of these networks. We also explore probabilistic questions concerning the properties of RTCNs when they are sampled uniformly at random. These questions include the lengths of random walks between the root and leaves (both from the root to the leaves and from a leaf to the root); the distribution of the number of cherries in the network; and sampling RTCNs conditional on displaying a given tree. We also formulate a conjecture regarding the scaling limit of the process that counts the number of lineages in the ancestry of a leaf. The main idea in this paper, namely using ranking as a way to achieve combinatorial tractability, may also extend to other classes of networks.

This paper is a fundamental study of the Real $2$-representation theory of $2$-groups. It also contains many new results in the ordinary (non-Real) case. Our framework relies on a $2$-equivariant Morita bicategory, where a novel construction of induction is introduced. We identify the Grothendieck ring of Real $2$-representations as a Real variant of the Burnside ring of the fundamental group of the $2$-group and study the Real categorical character theory. In this paper, we construct and study a semigroup associated to an action of a countable discrete group on a compact Hausdorff space that can be regarded as a higher dimensional generalization of the type semigroup. We study when this semigroup is almost unperforated. This leads to a new characterization of dynamical comparison and thus answers a question of Kerr and Schafhauser. In addition, this paper suggests a definition of comparison for dynamical systems in which neither the acting group is necessarily amenable nor the action is minimal.

This paper is devoted to the question of constructing a higher order Faber spline basis for the sampling discretization of functions with higher regularity than Lipschitz. The basis constructed in this paper has similar properties as the piecewise linear classical Faber–Schauder basis (Faber, 1908) except for the compactness of the support. Although the new basis functions are supported on the real line they are very well localized (exponentially decaying) and the main parts are concentrated on a segment. This construction gives a complete answer to Problem 3.13 in Triebel’s monograph (Triebel, 2012) by extending the classical Faber basis to higher orders. Roughly, the crucial idea to obtain a higher order Faber spline basis is to apply Taylor’s remainder formula to the dual Chui–Wang wavelets. As a first step we explicitly determine these dual wavelets which may be of independent interest. Using this new basis we provide sampling characterizations for Besov and Triebel–Lizorkin spaces and overcome the smoothness restriction coming from the classical piecewise linear Faber–Schauder system. This basis is unconditional and coefficient functionals are computed from discrete function values similar as for the Faber–Schauder situation.

We study the compressible Euler equations in the isentropic nozzle flow. The global existence of an $L^{\infty}$ solution has been proved in (Tsuge in Nonlinear Anal. Real World Appl. 209: 217-238 (2017)) for large data and general nozzle. However, unfortunately, this solution does not possess finiteness of energy. Although the modified Godunov scheme is introduced in this paper, we cannot deduce the energy inequality for the approximate solutions. Therefore, our aim in the present paper is to derive the energy inequality for an $L^{\infty}$ solution. To do this, we introduce the modified Lax Friedrichs scheme, which has a recurrence formula consisting of discretized approximate solutions. We shall first deduce from the formula the energy inequality. Next, applying the compensated compactness method, the approximate solution converges to a weak solution. The energy inequality also holds for the solution as the limit. This paper is concerned with well-posedness of the Cahn-Hilliard equation subject to a class of new dynamic boundary conditions. The system was recently derived in Liu-Wu (Arch. Ration. Mech. Anal. 233 (2019), 167-247) via an energetic variational approach and it naturally fulfills three physical constraints such as mass conservation, energy dissipation and force balance. The target problem examined in this paper can be viewed as a transmission problem that consists of Cahn-Hilliard type equations both in the bulk and on the boundary. In our approach, we are able to deal with a general class of potentials with double-well structure, including the physically relevant logarithmic potential and the non-smooth double-obstacle potential. Existence, uniqueness and continuous dependence of global weak solutions are established. The proof is based on a novel time-discretization scheme for the approximation of the continuous problem. Besides, a regularity result is shown with the aim of obtaining a strong solution to the system.

This paper deals with dynamical optimal transport metrics defined by spatial discretisation of the Benamou--Benamou formula for the Kantorovich metric $W_2$. Such metrics appear naturally in discretisations of $W_2$-gradient flow formulations for dissipative PDE. However, it has recently been shown that these metrics do not in general converge to $W_2$, unless strong geometric constraints are imposed on the discrete mesh. In this paper we prove that, in a $1$-dimensional periodic setting, discrete transport metrics converge to a limiting transport metric with a non-trivial effective mobility. This mobility depends sensitively on the geometry of the mesh and on the non-local mobility at the discrete level. In this paper, we investigate the geometric invariant properties of a normal curve on a smooth immersed surface under conformal transformation. We obtain an invariant-sufficient condition for the conformal image of a normal curve. We also find the deviations of normal and tangential components of the normal curve under the same motion. In this work we prove general bounds for the diameter of random graphs generated by a preferential attachment model whose parameter is a function $f:\mathbb{N}\to[0,1]$ that drives the asymptotic proportion between the numbers of vertices and edges. These results are sharp when $f$ is a \textit{regularly varying function at infinity} with strictly negative index of regular variation~$-\gamma$. For this particular class, we prove a characterization for the diameter that depends only on~$-\gamma$. More specifically, we prove that the diameter of such graphs is of order $1/\gamma$ with high probability, although its vertex set order goes to infinity polynomially. In his recent Proceedings of the AMS paper, “Gossez’s skew linear map and its pathological maximally monotone multifunctions”, Stephen Simons proved that the closure of the range of the sum of the Gossez operator and a multiple of the duality map is not convex whenever the scalar is between 0 0 and 4 4 . The problem of the convexity of that range when the scalar is equal to 4 4 was explicitly stated. In this paper, we answer this question in the negative for any scalar greater than or equal to 4 4 . We derive this result from an abstract framework that allows us to also obtain a corresponding result for the Fitzpatrick-Phelps integral operator.

Let $\mathscr{C}$ be a 2-Calabi-Yau triangulated category, and let $\mathscr{T}$ be a cluster tilting subcategory of $\mathscr{C}$. An important result from Dehy and Keller tells us that a rigid object $c \in \mathscr{C}$ is uniquely defined by its index with respect to $\mathscr{T}$. The notion of triangulated categories extends to the notion of $(d+2)$-angulated categories. Thanks to a paper by Oppermann and Thomas, we now have a definition for cluster tilting subcategories in higher dimensions. This paper proves that under a technical assumption, an indecomposable object in a $(d+2)$-angulated category is uniquely defined by its index with respect to a higher dimensional cluster tilting subcategory. A strong submeasure on a compact metric space X is a sub-linear and bounded operator on the space of continuous functions on X. A strong submeasure is positive if it is non-decreasing. By Hahn-Banach theorem, a positive strong submeasure is the supremum of a non-empty collection of measures whose masses are uniformly bounded from above. There are many natural examples of continuous maps of the forms $f:U\rightarrow X$, where $X$ is a compact metric space and $U\subset X$ is an open dense subsets, where $f$ cannot extend to a reasonable function on $X$. We can mention cases such as: transcendental maps of $\mathbb{C}$, meromorphic maps on compact complex varieties, or continuous self-maps $f:U\rightarrow U$ of a dense open subset $U\subset X$ where $X$ is a compact metric space. To the maps mentioned in the previous paragraph, the use of measures is not sufficient to establish the basic properties of ergodic theory, such as the existence of invariant measures or a reasonable definition of measure theoretic entropy and topological entropy. In this paper, we show that strong submeasures can be used to completely resolve the issue and establish these basic properties. The same idea can also be applied to improve on \'etale topological entropy, previously defined by the author. In this paper, we study convergence of coupled dynamical systems on convergent sequences of graphs to a continuum limit. We show that the solutions of the initial value problem for the dynamical system on a convergent graph sequence tend to that for the nonlocal diffusion equation on a unit interval, as the graph size tends to infinity. We improve our earlier results in [Arch. Ration. Mech. Anal., 21 (2014), pp. 781--803] and extend them to a larger class of graphs, which includes directed and undirected, sparse and dense, random and deterministic graphs. There are three main ingredients of our approach. First, we employ a flexible framework for incorporating random graphs into the models of interacting dynamical systems, which fits seamlessly with the derivation of the continuum limit. Next, we prove the averaging principle for approximating a dynamical system on a random graph by its deterministic (averaged) counterpart. The proof covers systems on sparse graphs and yields almost sure convergence on time intervals of order $\log n,$ where $n$ is the number of vertices. Finally, a Galerkin scheme is developed to show convergence of the averaged model to the continuum limit. In this paper, we investigate sharp damping estimates for a class of one dimensional oscillatory integral operators with real-analytic phases. By establishing endpoint estimates for suitably damped oscillatory integral operators, we are able to give a new proof of the sharp $L^p$ estimates which have been proved by Xiao in Endpoint estimates for one-dimensional oscillatory integral operators, \emph{Advances in Mathematics}, \textbf{316}, 255-291 (2017). We define a class of singularity on arbitrary pairs of a normal variety and an effective $\mathbb{R}$-divisor on it, which we call pseudo-lc in this paper. This is a generalization of the usual lc singularity of pairs and log canonical singularity of normal varieties introduced by de Fernex and Hacon. By giving examples of pseudo-lc pairs which are not lc or log canonical in the sense of de Fernex--Hacon's paper, we show that pseudo-lc singularity is a strictly extended notion of those singularities. We prove that pseudo-lc pairs admit a small lc modification. We show that Stolarsky's invariance principle, known for point distributions on the Euclidean spheres, can be extended to the real, complex, and quaternionic projective spaces and the octonionic projective plane. This paper investigates the existence of weak solutions of biquasilinear boundary value problem for a coupled elliptic-parabolic system of divergence form with discontinuous leading coefficients. The mathematical framework addressed in the article considers the presence of an additional nonlinearity in the model which reflects the radiative thermal boundary effects in some applications of interest. The results are obtained via the Rothe-Galerkin method. Only weak assumptions are made on the data and the boundary conditions are allowed to be on a general form. The major contribution of the current paper is the explicit expressions for the constants appeared in the quantitative estimates that are derived. These detailed and explicit estimates may be useful for the study on nonlinear problems that appear in the real world applications. In particular, they clarify the smallness conditions. In conclusion, we illustrate how the above results may be applied to the thermoelectrochemical phenomena in an electrolysis cell. In this paper, we derive the explicit expressions of two Markov semi-groups constructed by P. Biane in \cite{Bia1} from the restriction of a particular positive definite function on the complex unimodular group $Sl(2,\mathbb{C})$ to two commutative subalgebras of its universal $C^{\star}$-algebra. Our computations use Euclidean Fourier analysis together with the generating function of Laguerre polynomials with index $-1$, and yield absolutely-convergent double series representations of the semi-group densities. In the last part of the paper, we discuss the coincidence, noticed by Biane as well, occurring between the heat kernel on the Heisenberg group and the semi-group corresponding to the intersection of the principal and the complementary series. Estimating eigenvectors and low-dimensional subspaces is of central importance for numerous problems in statistics, computer science, and applied mathematics. This paper characterizes the behavior of perturbed eigenvectors for a range of signal-plus-noise matrix models encountered in both statistical and random matrix theoretic settings. We prove both first-order approximation results (i.e. sharp deviations) as well as second-order distributional limit theory (i.e. fluctuations). The concise methodology considered in this paper synthesizes tools rooted in two core concepts, namely (i) deterministic decompositions of matrix perturbations and (ii) probabilistic matrix concentration phenomena. We establish a Dahlberg-type perturbation theorem for second order divergence form elliptic operators with complex coefficients. In our previous paper, we showed the following result: If ${\mathcal L}_0=\mbox{div} A^0(x)\nabla+B^0(x)\cdot\nabla$ is a $p$-elliptic operator satisfying certain Carleson condition on $\nabla A$ and $B$ then the $L^p$ Dirichlet problem for the operator ${\mathcal L}_0$ is solvable in the upper half-space ${\mathbb R}^n_+$. In this paper we prove that the $L^p$ solvability is stable under small perturbations of ${\mathcal L}_0$. That is if ${\mathcal L}_1$ is another divergence form elliptic operator with complex coefficients and the coefficients of the operators ${\mathcal L}_0$ and ${\mathcal L}_1$ are sufficiently close in the sense of Carleson measures (considering the differences of coefficients), then the $L^p$ Dirichlet problem for the operator ${\mathcal L}_1$ is solvable for the same value of $p$. As a corollary we obtain a new result on $L^p$ solvability of the Dirichlet problem for operators of the form ${\mathcal L}=\mbox{div} A(x)\nabla+B(x)\cdot\nabla$ where the matrix $A$ satisfies weaker Carleson condition than in our earlier paper; in particular the coefficients of $A$ need no longer be differentiable and instead satisfy a Carleson condition that controls the oscillation of the matrix $A$ over Whitney boxes. This paper provides a systematic study of fundamental combinatorial properties of one-dimensional, two-sided infinite simple Toeplitz subshifts. Explicit formulas for the complexity function, the palindrome complexity function and the repetitivity function are proven. Moreover, a complete description of the de Bruijn graphs of the subshifts is given. Finally, the Boshernitzan condition is characterised in terms of combinatorial quantities, based on a recent result of Liu and Qu. Given a finite collection of $C^1$ vector fields on a $C^2$ manifold which span the tangent space at every point, we consider the question of when there is locally a coordinate system in which these vector fields are real analytic. We give necessary and sufficient, coordinate-free conditions for the existence of such a coordinate system. Moreover, we present a quantitative study of these coordinate charts. This is the third part in a three-part series of papers. The first part, joint with Stovall, lay the groundwork for the coordinate system we use in this paper and showed how such coordinate charts can be viewed as scaling maps for sub-Riemannian geometry. In the paper, we construct conservative Markov processes corresponding to the martingale solutions to the stochastic heat equation on R + \mathbb {R}^+ or R \mathbb {R} with values in a general Riemannian manifold, which is only assumed to be complete and stochastic complete. This work is an extension of the previous paper of Röckner and the second, third, and fourth authors [SIAM J. Math. Anal. 52 (2020), pp. 2237–2274] on finite volume case. Moveover, we also obtain some functional inequalities associated to these Markov processes. This implies that on infinite volume case, the exponential ergodicity of the solution of the Ricci curvature is strictly positive and the non-ergodicity of the process if the sectional curvature is negative.

In this paper, we study the $H^s$-stability of the log-log blowup regime (which has been completely described in a series of recent works by Merle and Raphael) for the focusing mass-critical nonlinear Schr\"odinger equations $i\partial_tu+\Delta u+|u|^\frac4du=0$ in $\mathbb{R}^d$ with $d\geq3$. We aim to extend the result in [Colliander and Raphael, Rough blowup solutions to the $L^2$ critical NLS, Math. Anna., 345(2009), 307-366.] for dimension two to the higher dimensions cases $d\geq3$, where we use the bootstrap argument in the above paper and the commutator estimates in [M. Visan and X. Adaptive regularization with cubics (ARC) is an algorithm for unconstrained, non-convex optimization. Akin to the popular trust-region method, its iterations can be thought of as approximate, safe-guarded Newton steps. For cost functions with Lipschitz continuous Hessian, ARC has optimal iteration complexity, in the sense that it produces an iterate with gradient smaller than $\varepsilon$ in $O(1/\varepsilon^{1.5})$ iterations. For the same price, it can also guarantee a Hessian with smallest eigenvalue larger than $-\varepsilon^{1/2}$. In this paper, we study a generalization of ARC to optimization on Riemannian manifolds. In particular, we generalize the iteration complexity results to this richer framework. Our central contribution lies in the identification of appropriate manifold-specific assumptions that allow us to secure these complexity guarantees both when using the exponential map and when using a general retraction. A substantial part of the paper is devoted to studying these assumptions---relevant beyond ARC---and providing user-friendly sufficient conditions for them. In this paper we give a very simple proof of the existence and plenitude of Runge tubes in $\mathbb C^n$ $(n>1)$ and, more generally, in Stein manifolds with the density property. We show in particular that for any algebraic submanifold $A$ of codimension at least two in a complex Euclidean space $\mathbb C^n$, the normal bundle of $A$ in $\mathbb C^n$ admits a holomorphic embedding onto a Runge domain in $\mathbb C^n$ which agrees with the inclusion map $A\hookrightarrow \mathbb C^n$ on the zero section., In this version we added Remark 1.6 and Problem 1.7. Let $(M,\theta)$ be a compact strictly pseudoconvex pseudohermitian manifold which is CR embedded into a complex space. In an earlier paper, Lin and the authors gave several sharp upper bounds for the first positive eigenvalue $\lambda_1$ of the Kohn-Laplacian $\Box_b$ on $(M,\theta)$. In the present paper, we give a sharp upper bound for $\lambda_1$, generalizing and extending some previous results. As a corollary, we obtain a Reilly-type estimate when $M$ is embedded into the standard sphere. In another direction, using a Lichnerowicz-type estimate by Chanillo, Chiu, and Yang and an explicit formula for the Webster scalar curvature, we give a lower bound for $\lambda_1$ when the pseudohermitian structure $\theta$ is volume-normalized., Comment: 11 pages

In this Paper we study a Bloch-Torrey regularization of the Rosensweig system for ferrofluids. The scope of this paper is twofold. First of all, we investigate the existence and uniqueness of solutions \`a la Leray of this model in the whole bidimensional space. Interesting enough, the well-posedness relies on a variation of the Aubin-Lions lemma for fractional time derivatives. In the second part of this paper we investigate both the long- time behavior of weak solutions and the propagation of Sobolev regularities in dimension two

In this paper, we prove that the net of transition chain is $\delta$-dense for nearly integrable positive definite Hamiltonian systems with 3 degrees of freedom in the cusp-residual generic sense in $C^r$-topology, $r\ge 6$. The main ingredients of the proof existed in \cite{CZ,C17a,C17b}. As an immediate consequence, Arnold diffusion exists among this class of Hamiltonian systems. In this paper, we study the algebraic symplectic geometry of the singular moduli spaces of Higgs bundles of degree $0$ and rank $n$ on a compact Riemann surface $X$ of genus $g$. In particular, we prove that such moduli spaces are symplectic singularities, in the sense of Beauville [Bea00], and admit a projective symplectic resolution if and only if $g=1$ or $(g, n)=(2,2)$. Vector-valued discrete Fourier transforms (DFTs) and ambiguity functions are defined. The motivation for the definitions is to provide realistic modeling of multi-sensor environments in which a useful time-frequency analysis is essential. The definition of the DFT requires associated uncertainty principle inequalities. The definition of the ambiguity function requires a component that leads to formulating a mathematical theory in which two essential algebraic operations can be made compatible in a natural way. The theory is referred to as frame multiplication theory. These definitions, inequalities, and theory are interdependent, and they are the content of the paper with the centerpiece being frame multiplication theory. The technology underlying frame multiplication theory is the theory of frames, short time Fourier transforms (STFTs), and the representation theory of finite groups. The main results have the following form: frame multiplication exists if and only if the finite frames that arise in the theory are of a certain type, e.g., harmonic frames, or, more generally, group frames. In light of the complexities and the importance of the modeling of time-varying and dynamical systems in the context of effectively analyzing vector-valued multi-sensor environments, the theory of vector-valued DFTs and ambiguity functions must not only be mathematically meaningful, but it must have constructive implementable algorithms, and be computationally viable. This paper presents our vision for resolving these issues, in terms of a significant mathematical theory, and based on the goal of formulating and developing a useful vector-valued theory.

This paper is concerned with spherical harmonics, and two refinements thereof: complex harmonics and symplectic harmonics. The reproducing kernels of the spherical and complex harmonics are explicitly given in terms of Gegenbauer or Jacobi polynomials. In the first part of the paper we determine the reproducing kernel for the space of symplectic harmonics, which is again expressible as a Jacobi polynomial of a suitable argument. In the second part we find plane wave formulas for the reproducing kernels of the three types of harmonics, expressing them as suitable integrals over Stiefel manifolds. This is achieved using Pizzetti formulas that express the integrals in terms of differential operators.

In this paper, we give a resolution of the generalized Fermat equations $$x^5 + y^5 = 3 z^n \text{ and } x^{13} + y^{13} = 3 z^n,$$ for all integers $n \ge 2$, and all integers $n \ge 2$ which are not a multiple of $7$, respectively, using the modular method with Frey elliptic curves over totally real fields. The results require a refined application of the multi-Frey technique, which we show to be effective in new ways to reduce the bounds on the exponents $n$. We also give a number of results for the equations $x^5 + y^5 = d z^n$, where $d = 1, 2$, under additional local conditions on the solutions. The goal of this paper is to investigate the stability of the Helmholtz equation in the high- frequency regime with non-smooth and rapidly oscillating coefficients on bounded domains. Existence and uniqueness of the problem can be proved using the unique continuation principle in Fredholm's alternative. However, this approach does not give directly a coefficient-explicit energy estimate. We present a new theoretical approach for the one-dimensional problem and find that for a new class of coefficients, including coefficients with an arbitrary number of discontinuities, the stability constant (i.e., the norm of the solution operator) is bounded by a term independent of the number of jumps. We emphasize that no periodicity of the coefficients is required. By selecting the wave speed function in a certain \resonant" way, we construct a class of oscillatory configurations, such that the stability constant grows exponentially in the frequency.
