Molti sono gli studi dedicati alla Roma papale e alla Spagna nel Cinquecento, incentrati su una prospettiva politica e rivolti soprattutto a questioni storico-artistiche; viceversa episodiche e alquanto disgiunte sono le ricerche che hanno considerato l'impatto dell'eredità classica sul contesto culturale, ufficiale e non. In questo volume studiosi di storia dell'archeologia e storici dell'arte rinascimentale fanno dialogare i risultati delle loro ricerche secondo diversi approcci, evidenziando come la tradizione di stampo antico o anticheggiante contribuí a rendere Roma uno dei grandi interlocutori del Rinascimento spagnolo. Il paradigma dell'antichità classica si affermò nell'ideologia politica di Carlo V e Filippo II, che proiettarono l'imago imperio nelle forme di rappresentazione della propria strategia comunicativa. Entro tale sistema si configurò il profilo collezionistico della monarchia spagnola indirizzandosi verso la ritrattistica antica, aspetto tematico che si prestava a legittimare un'ideale continuità con gli Imperatori romani e a celebrare virtutes politiche e belliche. Le antichità vincolarono e rinsaldarono strategie e legami politici; variazioni e citazioni di nobilia opera si diffusero alla corte e nei giardini nobiliari di Spagna; ambasciatori, dignitari, ecclesiastici entrarono nel circuito del mercato antiquario romano. Nell'Urbe il circolo erudito ispanico si caratterizzò per un fermento di interessi pienamente integrato nel vivace dibattito originatosi su importanti aspetti delle Antiquitates romane, giungendo alla realizzazione di opere esemplari (quali i Diálogos de medallas, inscripciones y otras antigüedades e lo Speculum Romanae Magnificentiae) o alla raccolta di corpora iconografici di grande valore e miniera di informazioni sul mondo collezionistico romano (quali i manoscritti di Alonso Chacón). Nel processo di restituzione e trasmissione di edifici e oggetti antichi attraverso il disegno, il Codex Escurialensis, trasferito da Roma a Madrid a principio del XVI secolo, occupò una posizione preferenziale, diffondendo iconografie antiche in committenze di diverso genere. Rimasto finora a margine, apre un inedito spaccato sulla pratica dei repertori iconografici un Codice di carattere numismatico, pervenuto anch'esso nella Biblioteca di San Lorenzo dell'Escorial, che si intreccia con gli studi di Andrea Fulvio, Enea Vico e Jacopo Strada. En febrero de 1770 el navío mercante de registro Nuestra Señora del Buen Consejo y San Leopoldo, alias Oriflame, emprendió un largo viaje con destino al puerto del Callao en el Virreinato del Perú con la misión de transportar un rico cargamento compuesto por cientos de miles de piezas de fina cristalería de la Real Fábrica de la Granja de San Ildefonso de Segovia. Tras cinco meses de singladura, el Oriflame naufragó en extrañas circunstancias frente a las costas de Chile. Doscientos treinta años después, una empresa caza-tesoros anunció haber dado con el sitio en el que estarían los restos del naufragio. Language: Hebrew The book examines the ideological motivations behind the selection of representations for Israeli banknotes and coins. The research is based on the proceedings and correspondence of the Bank of Israel Banknotes and Coinage Planning Committee from its inception in 1955 to 2012. The study reveals the mechanisms in which the legal tender is exploited as an expression of banal nationalism, implementing national emblems in an unnoticed manner. Banal nationalism is one of three theoretical frameworks we adopted. The other two are the long history of the Jewish people in the territory which today is the State of Israel; and selective tradition as a means for designing a nation. The book comprises eight chapters: theoretical overview; analytical portrayal of the working methods of the Bank of Israel Banknotes and Coinage Planning Committee; a study of the first designed “Allegoric Figures Series” (1959); analysis of the selection of human figures; the construction of the state borders through an array of landscape images; the reflection of the shifting boundaries in the changing representations Jerusalem; the selection of archaeological emblems as a proof for national continuity; and the symbolic role of flora as identification with the land.

Esta obra recoge los resultados de dos iniciativas: la red internacional de coordinación científica Exploitation of Mediterranean Alums in Europe (emae), que fue auspiciada por el Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique de Francia entre 2014 y 2017; y el seminario internacional Mazarrón en los espacios mediterráneos del alumbre (siglos XV-XVI), que se celebró en la localidad española de Mazarrón los días 5 y 6 de febrero de 2015. Incluye siete capítulos a cargo de once autores, expertos en historia y arqueología, que pertenecen a instituciones científicas y académicas de España, Francia e Italia. En conjunto, el libro focaliza su atención sobre la realidad del alumbre en la Península Ibérica entre los siglos XV y XVI, enmarca esa realidad en el contexto mediterráneo y europeo, y profundiza en tres grandes temas: las condiciones de producción y explotación del alumbre, el uso y las aplicaciones del producto, y su comercio y los agentes que lo protagonizaron. Los artículos fusionan varios ámbitos espaciales, heurísticos, argumentales y cronológicos. Desde su fundación en 1939 hasta la actualidad, el Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas ha ocupado una posición de privilegio en el mundo de la investigación científica española —científica y, aunque en menor grado, tecnológica también—, especialmente durante las décadas en las que la Universidad fue un páramo en lo que a producción de ciencia se refiere. Reconstruir su historia constituye una tarea imperativa no solo para comprender el pasado de la ciencia y la tecnología en España, sino también el de su propia historia política, social, industrial y económica, con las que el CSIC estuvo estrechamente relacionado. No obstante su ambición y amplitud, los muchos personajes, disciplinas y situaciones que analiza y los momentos históricos por los que transita, al presente libro —que incluye numerosos documentos hasta ahora inéditos— le habría sido imposible recoger los innumerables apartados de la historia del CSIC, una historia que, dada su caleidoscópica magnitud, desborda las posibilidades de una única obra, de ahí que constituya la primera entrega de una serie que explorará otros apartados más específicos. El éxito de la romanización acarreó el desarrollo de un sistema religioso que se consolidó durante el Alto Imperio en todos los territorios de Hispania, aunque de maneras distintas con consecuencias dispares, en virtud de factores como la realidad cultural precedente en cada área, la intensidad de la inmigración de itálicos o las respuestas de las poblaciones locales ante los estímulos foráneos, entre otros. Sin embargo, la crisis municipal derivada de las dificultades económicas y de las transformaciones estructurales que acaecieron en numerosas regiones de Hispania desde finales del siglo II conllevó el hundimiento del sistema religioso en buena parte de los territorios de la península. Los principales síntomas son la brusca desaparición de la práctica epigráfica, que había sido uno de los elementos característicos de la cultura material de la religión del Alto Imperio, pero, sobre todo, el abandono o amortización de la mayor parte de los santuarios. Las causas que explican la decadencia de un modelo religioso que se había asentado en el territorio de la península ibérica durante los dos siglos subyacen en la recesión de determinados sectores económicos en ciertas regiones, en el empobrecimiento de unas aristocracias cada vez menos numerosas sobre cuyos patrimonios recaía una buena parte del mantenimiento de este sistema, y en el cambio de mentalidad que estas experimentan en la nueva realidad política y social del siglo III. La transformación del sistema religioso provocó el abandono de los espacios de culto que otrora fueron orgullo de las ciudades que los habían visto erigirse.

Das bayerische Alpenvorland ist seit rund 200 Jahren Sehnsuchtsort und -region für Menschen aus aller Welt. Die Touristen fanden dort u. a. Berge und Seen, Tradition und Brauchtum, Natur und Landschaft, zunächst im Sommer, dann auch im Winter. Die in der vorliegenden Studie untersuchten Orte Berchtesgaden, Oberstaufen und Schliersee zählen seit dem 19. Jahrhundert zu den beliebtesten Tourismusdestinationen Bayerns. Dabei waren die Orte einem ständigen Veränderungs- und Anpassungsprozess unterworfen. Rasch wurden die wirtschaftlichen Möglichkeiten erkannt, die sich den ländlich geprägten Orten mit den Touristen boten. Gleichzeitig eröffnete sich ein Spannungsfeld zwischen dem Eingehen auf die Wünsche und Erwartungen der Touristen einerseits und der Bewahrung der eigenen Identitäten andererseits. Der Tourismus veränderte die Orte zum Teil grundlegend: Landwirte sattelten um und wurden zu Gastronomen und Hoteliers, auf für die Landwirtschaft unattraktiven Flächen wurden Villen und Unterkünfte für die Sommerfrischler errichtet, das Geld der Touristen ermöglichte den Bau verschiedenster Infrastruktureinrichtungen, die sowohl den Einheimischen wie auch den Gästen zugute kamen. This book seeks to explain the political, economic, and social climate of Mexico, and examines the current issues facing the third-largest country in North America.

Die in die Institutionen gesetzten Erwartungen erfüllten sich kaum, da die alltägliche Umsetzung das eigentliche Ziel pervertierte oder Resultate erreichte, die nie intendiert gewesen waren. Beginnend in den 1920er Jahren schlägt das Buch einen Bogen bis in die 1980er Jahre und adressiert verschiedene Themen der sowjetischen Geschichte.

Aun siendo múltiples los inconvenientes que todo ello acarreó a los vecinos, la competencia entre la Corona y la Mitra dotó a la capital —sabedora de su glorioso pasado y firme defensora de sus libertades— de un enorme grado de autonomía, hasta el punto de que sus ciudadanos se vanagloriaban de ser «los pus liberts ciutadans de tota Cathalunya, per quant són de juridicció comuna». Ihr Leben widmet sie dem Einsatz für Menschenrechte und der Aufgabe'Nie wieder Faschismus!'Sie arbeitet als Gemeindereferentin und Religionslehrerin über Jahrzehnte in der Katholischen Kirche in Mannheim und im Rhein-Neckar-Raum.
