The paper discusses the appropriate use of terminology denoting different types and different ways of blood sampling those of its components with the semantic, phonetic and technological point of view.

Influence of therapeutic plasmapheresis on bowel barrier function and evacuation was investigated in 83 patients with severe acute necrotizing pancreatitis. Except standard therapy patient obtained therapeutic plasmapheresis using "Haemonetics" PCS 2 system. Complex treatment of patients with acute necrotizing pancreatitis and dynamic ileus using plasmapheresis increases contractive and propulsive function of stomach and duodenum and prolongs period of activity of these organs on 32%. Intestinal barrier function associates with restoration of bowel evacuation. Addition of plasmapheresis to standard therapy of necrotizing pancreatitis can be effective prevention of dynamic ileus.

With the aim to lower the degree of endogenous intoxication in 9 children with diffuse peritonitis of appendicular genesis the membrane plasmapheresis with the plasma exchange was used in complex of postoperative treatment. Depending on severity of clinical course of the disease there were conducted two procedures on the 2-3 and 5-7 postoperative day to every patient. Application of the membrane plasmapheresis in complex of treatment had promoted the reduction of the endogenous intoxication degree due to influence on its main pathogenetic chains and the immune systemic reactivity raising.

As many as 44 patients with stage IIIB and IV carcinoma of the lung (n = 27 and 17 respectively) were studied for clinical and laboratory manifestations of endogenous intoxication syndrome during the administration of CAPF chemotherapy treatments. The use for detoxicating purposes of siliceous enterosorbents and plasmapheresis both alone and combined resulted in alleviation of gastrointestinal and hematological complications and permitted improving the quality of the patients' lives.

On the basis of the analysis of plasmapheresis (PPh) influence on clinical and functional and immunological indices in 105 patients with bronchial asthma the authors have come to the conclusion that PPh effect is the number-of-procedures-dependent. The most pronounced effect occurred in those groups having been given three to five PPh procedures. The above effect begins to reveal itself during the first postoperative week but the greatest positive changes take place between the 7th and the 14th days. As it won't make any difference whether three or five PPh sessions are conducted, the authors recommend plasmapheresis to be done on a three-procedure basis.

The questionnaire data of 860 patients with bronchial asthma (BA) and the 7-year catamnestic investigation depth were analysed. According to clinical effect achieved the extracorporal methods of the patients with BA treatment were ranked in such a manner: splenosorption, immunosorption to DNA, which contains the sorpents, the conventional method of hemosorption (HS), using the SKN sorpent, plasmapheresis and the ultra-violet irradiation of blood (UVIB). The applicational efficacy of HS using KAU and "Gemosfer" sorpents is significantly lesser than such of SKN sorpents. UVIB do not effects late follow-up results of the hormonally-dependent patients treatment.

Hemosorption (HS) and plasmapheresis (PA) stimulate significantly the pulmonary metabolic functions due to their potent detoxicational effect. Arterial hypoxemia occurs simultaneously. The PA application contra HS causes more durable and stable detoxicational effect. It is mandatory in patients with an acute ileus to combine the HS conduction and repeated sessions of spontaneous respiration with end-expiratory additional pressure and to include fatty emulsions in complex of substitutional therapy while PA application.

The method of discrete plasmacytapheresis was applied for the treatment of 8 patients with primary and 18 with secondary Raynaud's phenomenon. The incorporation of this method in the therapeutic complex have promoted the achievement of clinical improvement in the whole of the patients with primary and in 13 with secondary Raynaud's phenomenon. Remission lasted from 1.5 months till 4.5 years. Positive effect is caused by the improvement of blood rheological properties on the hemodilution background, the excretion of pathological substances from blood flow.
