The article attempts to reveal some probable biographical aspects of two artistic and philosophical dialogues of Hryhoriy Skovoroda, written in 1783: Archstrategist Michael’s Struggle with Satan and The Devil’s Controversy with Varsava. The dedication of the first work to Mykhaylo Kovalyns’kyy and the later preface to this dialogue could have been inspired by the family tragedy of the Kovalyns’kyy couple – the death of their young son. It is probably not by chance that H. Skovoroda addressed the theme of the Resurrection three times in the preface, persistently reminding that the death of the body is not the end of human life, but only a rough appearance of the end. Everyone who crosses the threshold of apparent death actually passes to a new life, so the father of the dead son had to believe that in time he would meet his beloved child again, and already forever. The second dialogue is perhaps the most autobiographical in H. Skovoroda’s writings. The lines of both protagonists of this work (Daimon and Varsava) sound like the inner voices of the author of the dialogue. At the same time, according to one of the hypotheses, the prototype of Daimon can be considered not just some abstract force of doubt that was either outside the soul and consciousness of H. Skovoroda, or within his rational understanding of the metaphysics of the universe, but a specific person – Samuyil Myslavs’kyy, a younger friend of H. Skovoroda during the years of study at the Kyiv Mohyla Academy, and later the bishop and head of the Kharkiv College, because of whom, perhaps, the “official” pedagogical career of our philosopher ended forever. In general, the issue of the biographical “fullness” of certain prose works of H. Skovoroda is extremely complex and debatable in Ukrainian literary studies. Perhaps the versions highlighted in the article will somewhat bring the two “heavenly” dialogues of 1783 closer to their “earthly” reader’s perception.

3. GENRE FEATURES OF THE POSTMODERN NOVEL 'PERFUME: THE STORY OF A MURDERER' BY P. SÜSKIND

The purpose of the article is to define the genre features of Patrick Süskind’s novel as a postmodern work. The task is to determine the artistic components, which will serve as a basis for establishing the genre affiliation of the analyzed work. The study employs the elements of formal and cultural-historical methods of analysis. It is emphasized that the peculiarity of this novel is its genre eclecticism. It is noted that the work actualizes the Faustian image of the human/superhuman, who is marginal and disadvantaged, rejected by society, extremely talented, but has no moral values. The work consists of four parts referring to different periods of life and the work of Jean-Baptiste Grenouille (childhood and learning the craft; self-reflection in the cave and return to people; the culmination of activities as a perfumer and criminal in Grasse; his death). Each part falls into the canons of several genres; while intertwined quite chaotically, the elements of genres form a holistic picture nonetheless. It is established that the events of the novel are tied to the events of the 18th century; the historical background is outlined both through specific dates of the protagonist’s life, important milestones in his life and career, tied to individual historical events and processes, and also through artistic descriptions of guild manufacturing, the social hierarchy of the society, urban life in Europe. However, Süskind’s work cannot be considered a historical novel in the classical sense of the genre (the plot is not centered around a historical event or a historical figure), thus literary critics rightfully interpret the work as a pseudo-historical novel. Detailed descriptions of the specifics of the social and domestic life of a child, adolescent, and apprentice signify the social and domestic novel, however, the protagonist’s life and his actions can hardly be considered typical. The plot of Süskind’s work develops conforming to the genre canon of the crime novel. We draw your attention to the fact that, according to the marketing definition, the analyzed work is defined as “a romantic detective”. Yet in accordance with the detective genre canon, the protagonist must be a detective, who unravels the crime and finds the killer. In Süskind’s novel, the main character is a criminal, and the detective is not even formally represented, which gives us a reason to classify the analyzed work as a crime / noir novel. Gothic elements (the topos of the cemetery, the pervasive motif of death, the protagonist living in gloomy places, one way or another connected with death, etc.) also point to the genre of a crime novel. The novel describes in detail the features of the craftsmanship, and the life of the apprentice, and thus the text acquires a distinct quality of the occupational novel. Despite the fact that a significant part of the text is devoted to the description of the profession of a perfumer, the analyzed work is still difficult to label as an occupational novel, because it lacks the motif of work for the benefit of society, and the image of the main character being a genius perfumer-killer is far from the positive image of a worker, which is determining for a genre of occupational novel. Philosophical motives are an integral part of Süskind’s novel. The worldview and system of moral and ethical values are implicated and in a rather ironic context presented through references to famous scientists and philosophers of the Enlightenment, which in one way or another refer to the scientific picture of the world, criticism of the church, atheism, freethinking. The canon of the parable used in the second chapter enables the artistic presentation of the spiritual transformations of the main character and the formation of his axiology. As the hero stays in a cave, dreaming in the position of the embryo, it is perceived as his death and rebirth, the time spent in there (“seven years”) is similar to the time of the Divine creation of the world and, respectively, implicitly marks the protagonist’s Faustian claims to the role of Creator. In Süskind’s novel, there are also elements of an educational novel, the conventions of the picaresque genre. The transformation of Grenouille’s execution into a collective orgy is presented in the manner of the parable genre with elements of the absurd. The fourth part of the novel, in which Grenouille returns to Paris, corresponds to canons of the genres of horror and parable. Written in accordance with various genre canons, the parts are implicitly enraged by the motif of Faustianism as a desire to know the mysteries of the world, messianism, and apostasy.

Purpose. This article attempts to investigate the ways to overcome negative after-effects of intercultural communication. Methodology and theoretical results: To avoid the negative after-effects of intercultural communication caused by the clash of different reality tunnels, it is necessary to go beyond the framework of the specific symbolical territory, which is seen as the only true reality. Expanding the horizons of life, going beyond the boundaries of a personal reality tunnel can be achieved, in particular, by using parables. Acquaintance with parables helps to extend the set of the world perception models and to change the positions of the communication process participants. Parables act as intermediaries between people of different cultures and mentalities. Owing to its archetypical form, parable becomes one of the most popular narratives illustrating deep and multi-faceted truths that sometimes cannot be expressed by any other way. Parable serves as an open and flexible model of the world and a model of an individual "I self". This model helps people to constitute themselves as a part of their world. Parable requires to reject its interpretation in the oppositions inherent in a given culture and to reconsider the very way of understanding. Rejection of the oppositions provides the possibility of perceiving the world as integrity, unity in diversity, helps to overcome one-sided picture of the inner world of a man and his life in society. Understanding of a parable works towards changing personal position, and human creative nature is actualized. Conclusion: Parables uniquely reflect the real world and contribute to personal understanding of reality. Parables are successfully transplanted into different cultures operating as heritage of a culture-recipient and as a connecting link, which optimizes an intercultural dialogue.

Досліджено розвиток та виокремлено основні тенденції жанрової трансформації оповідань письменниці в історико-літературному та ідейно-естетичному контексті., The article is devoted to the study of genre transformation and the specifics of the stories by Eleanor Hodgman Porter. The signs and problems of new genre formations are considered, the range of scientific researches of the mentioned theme is outlined. The emphasis is placed on the genre specificity of the cycle of stories by E. Porter called “Short stories”. The development and the main tendencies of the genre transformation of the writer's stories in the historical-literary and ideological-aesthetic context are extracted.

У статті заперечується утверджений в українському літературознавстві стереотип про К. Гамсуна як послідовного імпресіоніста. Зроблено припущення, що норвезький письменник за психологічним типом був експресіоністом (людиною емоційного психологічного типу), відповідно тяжіння до експресіоністської поетики закономірне для періоду його творчих шукань. Доведено, що «Голод» К. Гамсуна у стильовому плані – експресіоністський текст. За жанром це алегорично-філософський роман про основи людської цивілізації. Образ голоду в структурі тексту багатофункціональний: він не лише окреслює фізіологічно-психологічний стан, а є метафорою на позначення глибинного, провидчого осягнення механізмів людського існування, символом матеріальних цінностей (складником конфлікту «матерія–дух»), алегорією духовного голоду, який супроводжує людство на кожному витку розвитку. Духовний голод має амбівалентну природу: це конструктивна сила (він стимулює пошуки людиною джерел духовних орієнтирів, пошуки себе), яка легко може перетворитися в деструктив: невтамований духовний голод – причина всіх деструктивних процесів у суспільстві. Основні художні засоби, використані в романі «Голод», типово експресіоністські – алегорія, гіпербола, градація, контраст, калейдоскопізм, фрагментарність оповіді, «потік свідомості». The article denies the stereotype of K. Hamsun as a consistent Impressionist. This stereotype is in the Ukrainian literary criticism. In the article is made an assumption that the Norwegian writer is an expressionist according to the psychological type (a person of an emotional psychological type) and the gravity of expressionistic poetics is natural for the period of his creative quest. It is shown that K. Hamsun’s “Hunger” is an expressionist text. This is an allegorical and philosophical novel about the foundations of human civilization. The image of hunger in the structure of K. Hamsun’s text is multifunctional: it is not denotes only the physiological and psychological state, it is the metaphor for the signification of the deep and seerful comprehension of the mechanisms of human existence, it is the symbol of material values (the component of the conflict “matter-spirit”), it is the allegory of the spiritual hunger which accompanies the humanity on every stage of the development. The spiritual hunger has an ambivalent nature: it is a constructive force (it stimulates human search for sources of spiritual benchmarks, the search for oneself). But this constructive force can easily become destructive: an unstoppable spiritual hunger is the cause of all destructive processes in society. The main artistic means used in the novel “Hunger” are typically expressive – allegory, hyperbole, gradation, contrast, kaleidoscopism, fragmentary narrative, “flow of consciousness.”

The author of this article contemplates rather a curious problem that is illustrative for understanding the poetics of the Russian literature of the 19th century, — intensification of an element of convention in the fiction. By recurring to the genre of a fairy tale, both O. Storozhenko, a Romanticist, and V. G. Korolenko, a representative of the literary realism of the last third of the 19th century, succeeded in expressing the national model of the world. The writers correlated the events happening to their contemporary with the universal, supertemporal categories. The author of this article draws on the advanced and most promising, as they seem to be nowadays, literary strategies: mythopoetics and narratology, in particular; works by V. I. Tyupa. The analysis of the works by O. Storozhenko and V. G. Korolenko dedicated to an encounter of man and the devil enables to conclude that the fantasy by Storozhenko is express, like in a fairy tale. The fantasy in the work by V. Korolenko is implicit. The singularity of the Little Russian fairy tale «The Judgement Day» is a peculiar flavour of convention; speaking of this work; development of a psychological insight can be mentioned. The plot of the novel «A Devil In Love» by O. Storozhenko ascends to fairy tales and legendry and has an express mythopoetic core., В статье анализируются жанровые особенности повести О. Стороженко «Влюбленный черт» и «малорусской сказки» В. Г. Короленко «Судный день». В обоих произведениях происходит встреча человека с чертом. У О. Стороженкофантастика, как и в сказке, явная, в «Судном дне» фантастика имеет завуалированный характер. По своей природе произведение В. Г. Короленко ближе к нравственно-психологической фантастической повести., У статті аналізуються жанрові особливості повісті О. Стороженка «Закоханий чорт» і «малоросійської казки» В. Г. Короленка «Судний день». В обох творах відбувається зустріч людини з чортом. В О. Стороженка фантастика, як і в казці, є явною, тоді як у «Судному дні» фантастика має завуальований характер. За своєю природою твір В. Г. Короленка є ближчим до морально-психологічної фантастично ї повісті.

The article «Artistic features of Lyubko Deresh’s work «Prytcha pro Drozophil» [The parable about Drozophils] is devoted to poetics of this work by its famous contemporary Ukrainian writer. «Prytcha pro Drozophil» is analysed as a central work of «Eseyi» series in the collection «Trycylindrovuy dvuhun lyubovi». Emphasis is placed on genre features of the work, particularly on its structural and functional levels; allegoric nature of parable is also discovered. It is analysed that drozdophyls, with which the author was desperately fighting, are the model of society, because parasitism is very easy to be spread in there, some parasites give birth to others, therefore, it becomes a total phenomenon. Drozophils (as we read — people) have been grouped by the author in three «nations»: to the first one he included those, who grouped based on the «colony», to the second one — those, who grew up on the base of the first «colony», to the third group belonged those who were «the example of decadency». Deresh puts forward an idea that people also have remarkable life strength, outstanding will to live. The creatures, with which a person is fighting, are unpleasant and attractive to the author at the same time: he values those who do not give up regardless of any life troubles. However, it is stated a couple of times in the work that a human being is a creature that is not always perfect, because it has a skill of both attacking and protecting what belongs to him or her. Philosophical content of essay as a genre is analysed as well: the author managed to depict reality in a new principle: in front of reader’s eyes he builds a new myth, in which he transforms idiosyncratic to traditional fiction explanation of characters’ behaviour (drozophyls/people-fighters) in reflection of the author-philosopher, and therefore, replacing the comprehension of concrete into spiritual. Accent is placed from action onto morality and ethics, and the subjects of author’s attention become all important reasons that form spiritual formation of contemporary fighter and attacker., Статья посвящена поэтике произведения известного современного украинского писателя. Проанализирована «Притча про дрозофилл» как центральное произведение цикла «Эссе» в сборнике «Трицилиндровый двигатель любви». Акцентировано внимание на жанровых особенностях произведения, в частности на структурном и функциональном его уровнях, раскрыта аллегорическая природа притчи. Проанализировано философское наполнение эссе., Стаття присвячена поетиці твору відомого сучасного українського письменника. Проаналізовано «Притчу про дрозофіл» як центральний твір циклу «Есеї» в збірці «Трициліндровий двигун любові». У статті розглянуто основні складники естетичної еволюції «пізнього» В. Герасим’юка. Об’єктом аналізу слугують нові вірші, які склали основу циклу «Суха різьба». Предмет наукового дискурсу – міфологічний, біблійно-містичний, метафорично-музичний, національно-історіософський плани ліричного відтворення світу. Вірші циклу зіставлено з ранньою лірикою. Визначено художню своєрідність поезії. The transformed biblical motives and images have been analysed in the aesthetic area (coming out of slavery, the conflict between the prophet and the people, peccability of the human soul, God’s forgiveness, walking on water, collecting of stones, Jesus Christ, the Garden of Eden) on the material of V. Gerasymyuk’s lyrics, the representative of the 1980s poetic generation. The objects of the analysis are the new poems from the series «Dry Thread».The subject of the scientific discourse is the biblical, metaphoric and musical, national and ethnic plan of the lyric reality representation. The aesthetic aspects of the guzul myths dethronement have been revealed. In the beginning of the XXth century they are deprived of the sacral meaning. The artistic evolution of the poet has been traced in the image embodiment of the lyric subject. The image of the sober folk philosopher, who is thinking of the ethnos destiny, comes in the change of a wise mountaineer, soldier-avenger. The role of music has been revealed in the biblical motives expression, the embodiment of the binary oppositions: divine- devilish, good-evil, life-death. The article deals with the main components of the aesthetic evolution of the «late» V. Gerasymyuk. There is the comparison between the early lyrics. The artistic peculiarity of the poetry has been defined. The line of expressive means which are typical for the poet has been characterised: psychologism, meditativity, contrast, metaphorism. The features of expressionism and postmodersnism have been defined as the main components in the poet’s style. The comparative analysis of V. Gerasymjuk’s lyrics has been made with the typologically similar lyrics of Taras Fedyuk, R. M. Rylke.

Притча – це складова релігійного дискурсу, жанр алегорично-дидактичної оповіді, що за змістом тяжіє до глибокої мудрості релігійно-філософського плану. Її фабула підпорядкована єдиній ідеї, а відтак дидактичній меті твору. Алегоричністю цей жанр дещо наближений до байки, але, на відміну від байки, тут важлива стислість і влучність викладу, допускається навіть відсутність розгорнутої сюжетної дії.
