- Abstract
In this study, the adaptation of the Family Efficacy Scales developed by Caprara, Regalia, Scabini, Barbaranelli and Bandura (2004) to Turkish was done. The sample of the study consists of a total of 375 person, including 125 adolescents in high school and their parents. The family competence scale consists of four forms. Data from the Filial, Marital, Parental, and Collective Family Scales were analyzed using SPSS 23 and AMOS schedules. Explanatory factor analysis (AFA) and confirmatory factor analysis (DFA) were used as methods. According to the results of AFA, filial's form is four-dimensional, marital form is two-dimensional, parental form is two-dimensional and collective family efficacy form is three-dimensional. Only a substance with a low substance load in the parental form has been removed. As a result, there are items 16 filial form, 12 marital form, 11 parental form and 20 collective family form, which are applicable for Turkish family structure. According to DFA results, compliance indices are significant. The high scores obtained from the scales indicate that the self-efficacy of the relevant role is high, while the low scores indicate that the self-efficacy of the relevant role is low. Children who have been programmed by one parent to be alienated from the other parent are commonly seen in the context of child-custody disputes. Its primary manifestation is the child’s campaign of denigration against a parent, a campaign that has no justification. It is said to result from a combination of a programming (brainwashing) parent’s indoctrinations and the child’s own contributions to the vilification of the targeted parent. Many evaluators use the term parental alienation syndrome to refer to the disorder engendered in such children. However, there is significant controversy going on about the validity of parental alienation syndrome. The purpose of this article has been to describe and help to differentiate parental alienation syndrome and abuse for mental health professionals working in the field, and discuss the arguments about the validity of this syndrome.

The main purpose of this research is to develop the “Parental Awareness Scale (Parents with a Gifted Child - EFÖ-ÜZÇE)” to determine the awareness of the parents of gifted students. The scale consisting of 4 sub-dimensions and 39 items is organized as a likert type of 5. The subscales of the scale were Stress Conflict, Perfectionism, Motivation Success, Self-Management-Responsibility. For the validity reliability studies of this scale developed, 127 families with gifted children diagnosed at the age of 6 with the Stanford Binet Intelligence Test were reached. A similar scale validity analysis was performed with explanatory and confirmatory factor analysis to determine the structure validity in the study. Materiality analysis was performed on the reliability reliability studies of the scale. Cronbach ? reliability coefficient is ? = .833. As a result of confirmatory factor analysis, the RMSEA value of the scale was calculated as .090. Findings revealed that the ‘Parental Awareness Scale’ (Parents with a Gifted Child - EFÖ-ÜZÇE) is a valid and reliable measurement tool.

Objective: The present study aimed to evaluate the psychometric properties of the Parental Bonding Instrument (PBI) for Turkish university students., Method: A total of 336 (% 61.5) female and 211 (%38.5) male students attending Ankara and Pamukkale Universities participated in the study. The mean age of the participants is 21.55 (SD=1.65) with a range of 18-26. The construct validity is examined by exploratory factor analysis; the criterion related validity is assessed by examining the correlation of the PBI with two instruments namely "The Parental Attitude Research Instrument (PART)" and "The Parenting Style Inventory (PSI)". The reliability of the PBI was assessed by Cronbach's Alpha, test-retest and split-half reliability statistics., Results: The factor analysis for Turkish university students yielded two factor solutions for both parents as original PBI. Nevertheless the items related to the controlling behaviors are loaded on the care factor instead of the overprotection as found by Parker et. al. (1979). Thus these two factors are named as care/control and overprotection subscales. Additionaly, PBI is found to demonstrate generally a high level of correlations with PART and PSI supporting criterion-related validity. Finally, the reliability studies of the PBI demonstrated that it is a highly reliable scale and showed stability for a period of three weeks interval., Conclusion: The psychometric properties of the PBI is found to be satisfactory and could be used to assess parental attachment. It is suggested that further studies may illuminate the clinical value of the PBI and quantify parental contribution to psychopathology.
