Purpose: This research is aimed to identify the mediating role of psychological safety and life satisfaction in the effect of organizational support on organizational trust from the healthcare workers' perspective.Methodology: Cross-sectional design was preferred in line with the purpose of the study. This cross-sectional study was carried out on all healthcare professionals of a private healthcare organization which operates as a branch of a chain hospital group in Ankara. A total of 450 people expressed their willingness to participate in the questionnaire. However, 53 people could not finish the survey due to overcrowding. Thus, the final sample comprised of 397 people. Data were collected by face-to-face survey method. Path analysis, one of the structural equation modeling (SEM) methods, was used in the analysis of the data set. Findings: This research finds that organizational support directly and indirectly affects organizational trust in a significant way and that organizational trust will rise as organizational support grows. When the mediating variables of psychological safety and life satisfaction are entered into the model together, the effect of organizational support on organizational trust is not significant. Thus, psychological safety and life satisfaction are full mediating variables. These results indicate that as the level of organizational support increases, the level of organizational trust can be indirectly increased through the mediation of psychological safety and life satisfaction.Originality: These findings suggest that organizational support directly and indirectly significantly impacts organizational trust and that psychological safety and life satisfaction mediate the association between organizational support and organizational trust.

Objective: Risky exposure of healthcare workers to blood and body fluids is one of the most critical global issues. This study aimed to determine the frequency, conditions, and interventions of risky contacts and provide guidance on infection control measures to enhance occupational safety. Methods: Healthcare workers' risky contact with blood and body fluids was investigated from January 2013 to December 2022. The contact tracking forms for blood and body fluid exposures in the Infection Control Committee (ICC) were retrospectively examined. Furthermore, the effects of the regulatory activities implemented by the ICC on the problems detected during the active surveillance of risky contacts and the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic during the monitoring process were evaluated. Results: During the ten-year follow-up period, a total of 700 risky contacts were identified in 625 healthcare workers, with 643 (91.9%) resulting from needlestick and sharp injuries and 57 (8.1%) from skin and mucosal contact. Of the risky contacts, 262 (37.4%) occurred in internal medicine units, 171 (24.4%) in surgical units, and 112 (16%) in the emergency department, making these the most common locations for risky contacts. The most frequently reported occupational groups were, respectively, 267 (38%) interns, 185 (26%) nurses, and 173 (25%) cleaning staff. When evaluating how risky contacts occurred, it was determined that 215 (30.7%) occurred during invasive procedures, 108 (15.4%) while recapping the needle, and 528 (75%) resulted from needlestick injuries. It was determined that 13% of risky contacts applied to the ICC after 72 hours, and 79% used appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE). The highest rate of PPE usage, at 93%, was observed in 2020, when the COVID-19 pandemic began. In 2013, it was observed that the most common risky contacts occurred during waste collection, and over the years, injuries during waste collection decreased with training. Although the source was unknown in 32% of risky contacts, a decrease in the rate of risky contacts with unknown sources was achieved over time. Out of 478 risky contacts with known sources, 71 (14.9%) occurred with patients infected with hepatitis B, 35 (7.3%) with hepatitis C, and seven (1.5%) with HIV. Ninety-six per cent of the nurses were exposed to risky contacts, 93% of interns, 87% of doctors, 56% of cleaning personnel, and 84% of other healthcare workers were immune to hepatitis B. After a one-year follow-up period with post-exposure prophylaxis, no healthcare worker developed hepatitis B or HIV infection, while one person was found to be anti-HCV positive. Conclusion: Needlestick-sharp object injuries remain a significant issue. All healthcare institutions must regularly monitor risky contacts with blood and bodily fluids, identify problems, develop targeted infection control measures, and plan periodic training.

Aim: The children of healthcare workers (HCWs) constitute a group highly vulnerable to anxiety disorders during the coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. This study aimed to compare the prevalence and severity of anxiety between the children of HCWs and non-HCWs while identifying factors contributing to this anxiety. Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted involving 334 children aged between 6 and 17 years to assess their anxiety levels. The risk factors related to anxiety were determined using binary logistic regression analysis. Results: Significant risk factors for anxiety included having parents who were HCWs, having parents with psychiatric disorders, changes in household members, and following news updates (p=0.045, 0.022, 0.021, and 0.024, respectively). Children of HCWs working in COVID-19 clinics exhibited a higher prevalence of moderate to severe anxiety than the other groups (p=0.036). Additionally, prolonged screen time and changes in sleep duration were more common in children with moderate to severe anxiety. Conclusion: The results suggest that the children of HCWs may be more prone to anxiety symptoms than the children of parents in other professions.

- Abstract
The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between toxic managerial behaviors, workplace violence, and organizational cynicism in healthcare workers. The research is cross-sectional and quantitative. A questionnaire form consisting of four sections was used as data collection tool in the study. The first part of the form included the general characteristics of the participants; the second part included "Toxic Manager Behaviors Scale"; the third part included "Workplace Violence Scale"; and the fourth part included "Organizational Cynicism Scale". The study population of the research consists of healthcare professionals working in Mersin province. The study used purposive and snowball sampling methods to include a total of 579 healthcare workers. Descriptive statistics were first calculated for the data obtained, followed by independent samples t-test and Pearson correlation analysis. As a result of the analysis, statistically significant relationships were found between all sub-dimensions of toxic manager behaviors as well as workplace violence scale and organizational cynicism scale and its sub-dimensions (p<0.05). In addition, it was determined that women, single employees, those working in medical units and those working in the private sector had a significantly higher level of organizational cynicism (p<0.05). As a result, in order to reduce the level of organizational cynicism in health institutions, toxic managerial behaviors should be prevented or eliminated if they have emerged, and workplace violence should be prevented by identifying the sources of workplace violence. Introduction:We aimed to self-evaluate the impact of front-line health workers’ perspective on their profession, family, social life and to determine how emotions and thoughts changed in the process. Methods:This is a questionnaire answered according to a 5-point Likert scale, which involved the demographic characteristics of the staff and the self-assessment of their views on their profession, family, and social life. Evaluations were made in the categories of occupational satisfaction, individual fear, professional ethics, meeting physical needs, trust in institution-infrastructure support, trust in the work team, and the effects on family life through categorized queries. Volunteer healthcare staff work actively in the units, where the patients with suspected or diagnosed infection were treated, included in the study. A year later, the questionnaire was administered again. The multiple logistic regression model was used to determine the factors. Results:Regarding the first year of the pandemic, no significant difference was determined in the individual fear of getting sick and professional ethics scores of healthcare professionals in Turkey. The scores of meeting physical needs, trust in the team, and institutional infrastructure support in the working environment were significantly decreased (p

Introduction: Vaccination is one of the preventive measures that should be taken against COVID-19. In this study, we aimed to evaluate the COVID-19 vaccination status and factors affecting vaccination of healthcare workers (HCWs) working in our hospital. Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted by filling out a questionnaire form with face-to-face or snowball methods to HCWs in our hospital. The questionnaire is composed of 10 questions, including demographic information, occupation of the person, working in the pandemic unit, COVID-19 and Influenza vaccination information, contracting COVID-19, and hospitalization status. Full-dose vaccination was defined as four doses in total. P<0.05 was accepted as a statistical significance level. Results: We included 744 HCWs in this study. The median age was 32 (17-60) years, and 60.8% (n=452) were women, mostly nurses (32.3%, n=240). The vaccination rate after contracting COVID-19 was 56.9% (n=269). Vaccination rates against COVID-19 were higher in women (94.5%) than in men (93%), in those who were vaccinated against influenza (99.4%) than those who were not (91%), and in doctors (99.3%) than in nurses (92.5%) and other HCWs (%90.8) (p=0.051, p=0.00, p=0.004). The rate of full-dose vaccination was found to be statistically significantly higher in those who worked in the pandemic unit (39.4%) than in those who did not (27.9%), in those who had influenza vaccination (44.5%) than those who did not (32.2%), and also higher in doctors (61.8%) compared to nurses (31.7%) and other HCWs (27.2%) (p=0.002, p=0.04, p=0.000). The rate of having COVID-19 disease was higher in HCWs who were unvaccinated or vaccinated with a missing dose (63.2%) compared to HCWs who were vaccinated with a full dose (41%) (p=0.000). Conclusion: Full-dose vaccination reduces the rate of COVID-19 disease, and doctors are more inclined to have fulldose vaccination than nurses and other HCWs. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

MEDICAL personnel , *VICTIMS of violent crimes , *COMMUNICATION barriers , *VIOLENCE , *SCHEDULING , *SCHOOL violence - Abstract
The causes and consequences of violence against healthcare workers need to be evaluated from different perspectives. Studies show that there is a communication problem, but this problem is not only between healthcare workers and patients. Especially the discourse used by external factors and the influence of the media are important in the occurrence of violence. From this point of view, improving the communication training given to healthcare professionals, regulating the discourse through the media and planning awareness activities are important factors for the solution of the problem. There is a clear relationship between individual physical violence and social discursive violence. The discourses of people who are followed or supported by many segments of the society can be applied more sharply by the followers in the lower segments. This situation occurs between three factors: The perpetrator of violence, The subject of violence, The cause of violence. What is reflected in the media and the law has always been the "perpetrator of violence" and the "victim of violence". The hidden subject is the one who causes the violence. This study is a retrospective study conducted by examining the discourses used by whom and for what purpose, examining the statements reflected in the media and reviewing the literature. Especially when the discourses of politicians, who are followed through the media, are evaluated in the case of health workers, the transformation of the action into violence increases significantly according to the negativity of the discourse. As a result of the evaluation of political messages in the past-present axis and their application in the context of the rights obtained, it makes it inevitable that violence will occur as a result of discourses and expressions that legitimize violence, even if they do not directly involve violence. Violence goes beyond the perpetrator and victim, as it leads to a mental coding of discourse and action. Exposure to violent expressions in the media can have a negative impact on society, and the use of non-marginalizing language is key to preventing the legitimization of violence. Healthcare workers may quit or leave the country due to feeling undervalued, and violent discourses can become physical over time. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Aim: The main purpose of this study is to determine the effect of the personality characteristics of healthcare workers on their perceptions of organizational support and organizational trust. Method: The population of the research consisted of the employees of the private hospital providing secondary care in three different regions in Istanbul. The convenience sampling method was preferred in the study. The data were collected using the online questionnaire technique. The total number of questionnaires that were evaluated and used in the data analysis is 510. SPSS 23 and AMOS 26 package programs were used to analyze the data. Descriptive statistics, multiple linear regression analysis, and structural equation modeling were applied to the data. Findings: The findings obtained with the structural equation analysis showed that the construct validity of the model was provided. The direct causal effect of the personality traits of health workers on their perceptions of organizational support is positive, and the effect level is 0.122; On the other hand, it has been determined that the direct causal effect on organizational trust perceptions is positive, and the effect level is 0.225. Results: According to the results obtained from the regression analysis, it is seen that the high level of extraversion, responsibility, and openness characteristics of health workers positively affected their perceptions of organizational support. Therefore, healthcare professionals who are more extrovert, adaptable, and responsible show higher organizational support and organizational trust. It is suggested that personality traits being compatible with the organization may have a positive effect on outputs such as employee performance, job satisfaction, commitment, and motivation, and the study should be expanded in this direction.

Objective: In this study, it’s aimed to examine biological and psychosocial risk perceptions, and expectations of life after treatment of the healthcare personnel who were diagnosed as covid-19 positive while working at the pandemic hospital and resumed after their treatments. Materials and Methods: In line with the purpose of the study, a case study method was adopted in the qualitative research approach. Among the purposive sampling methods, maximum diversity sampling is used for the sample of the study that is 13 healthcare workers working in different units and levels who have worked in the pandemic period. As the data collection tool, semi-structured form was used, and the data obtained through interview questions were transcribed word-by-word and analyzed using the content analysis technique using the Maxqda program. Results : The most common theme during the pandemic is “worry” which is a subcode of “negative feelings” under the “psychological factors” theme and the second most common dimension is “family” code under the theme of “social factors”. Conclusion: Even though some of the employees were working at the pandemic hospital, the belief that the risk of coronavirus infection was low to them was the most striking subject in the research process. This situation has been examined from the perspective of unrealistic optimism theory. It is explained by the assumption that information processing errors are made about the risks of the work or the tendency to deny the risk to reduce anxiety. Although the studies carried out in both aspects provide temporary relief for individuals, we think that the increase in this situation may reduce the behavior of taking measures against risks in individuals.

INTRODUCTION: In this study, we aimed to investigate daytime sleepiness, sleep quality, and psychological symptoms in healthcare workers and to examine the relationship between them. METHODS: This survey study is descriptive and cross-sectional study. The population of the study consists of 1126 healthcare workers in six public health institutions in Istanbul. The study data were collected with a piece of personal information from questioning sociodemographic information, Epworth Sleepiness Scale (ESS), Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), and the 'Brief Symptom Inventory' that determine the psychological symptom status. The data were analyzed with SPSS 26 package program. RESULTS: Data for 1126 participants who were 22.9% male and with a mean age of 32.10 (+-8.83) years were analyzed. It was determined that there is a large mental health burden on healthcare workers. In general, excessive daytime sleepiness, reduced sleep quality, and psychopathological symptoms were significantly higher than the normal population. They were 19.2%, 52.0%, and 45.7%, respectively. A significant correlation was found between sleep disorders and psychopathological symptoms. It was observed that the ESS and PSQI scores varied according to gender, occupation, and shift status. The difference was statistically significant (p0.05). DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSION: The heavy workload and work stress cause sleep problems and psychological symptoms in healthcare workers. To quality and efficient healthcare, working conditions and hours of healthcare workers should be regulated, and training on stress management and sleep hygiene should be provided.

Aim:Pertussis is a disease that is transmitted by droplets and has a long contagious period. It can cause severe illness presentation and hospital-acquired outbreaks, especially in preterm babies and infants whose vaccinations have not been completed. For this reason, it is recommended that the mother should be vaccinated with Tdap (tetanus, adult-type diphtheria and acellular pertussis vaccine) during pregnancy and people who will come into contact with the baby should be vaccinated. This practice is called the cocoon strategy and healthcare workers are also included in the cocoon strategy. The aim of this study is to determine whooping cough awareness and Tdap vaccination status of healthcare workers working in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) within the scope of the cocoon strategy.Materials and Methods:Our research was designed as a cross-sectional and descriptive face-to-face survey study. Health workers working in Samsun Training and Research Hospital NICU were invited to the research. The questionnaire consisted of four parts, including 21 questions, in order to learn the demographic data of the participants, the level of knowledge about pertussis disease, the level of knowledge about the pertussis vaccine and their vaccination status. Results:Of the 89 participants whose mean age was 38.7±7.3 years, 76% (n=68) were nurses/midwives and doctors. The level of knowledge about pertussis and its vaccines was significantly higher in doctors than in other groups (p

conditions during the COVID-19 pandemic, threaten the lives and physical well-being of healthcare workers (HCWs), and also their mental health, such as burnout, etc. which is often neglected. The aim of this review is to analyze published studies on the proportion of burnout among HCWs during the first wave of the COVID-19. Materials and Methods: We conducted a systematic review of studies that reported burnout (measured by Maslach Burnout Inventory) among HCWs during the COVID-19 pandemic and searched PubMed, PsycINFO, and WOS of relevant articles up to Feb 25th, 2021. Out of 145 non-duplicate studies, 10 were included in the meta-analysis. Results: The overall estimated pooled proportion for emotional exhaustion (EE) was 31% (95% CI: 24%-40%), for depersonalization (DP) was 28% (95% CI: 23%-38%) and 22% (95% CI: 13%-34%) for personal accomplishment (PA). The results show that in countries where the number of cases is high and the number of beds and doctors is low, the level of EE appears to be slightly lower and PA is slightly higher. However, there were no significant differences according to subgroup analyses. Conclusion: Evidence from early studies highlight the fact that a significant proportion of HCWs suffers from burnout during this pandemic. It will be necessary to pay close attention to HCWs' mental health and identify ways to reduce risks and prepare a rehabilitation program for the HCWs during and after the pandemic.

Background: It was aimed to present the knowledge, awareness levels and clinical follow-up data of the hepatitis B infected healthcare workers about hepatitis B virus in our hospital. Materials and Methods: In this study, HBsAg positivity among healthcare workers who were screened by Occupational Health and Safety Unit at Batman Training and Research Hospital between 01.01.2022 and 31.12.2022 were referred to the Infectious Diseases and Clinical Microbiology outpatient clinic. The demographic characteristics of the workers, the current status of hepatitis B, the vaccination status of family members, the history of sharp injuries, and the answers to the questions about the stigma exposure due to hepatitis B were evaluated. The results of advanced laboratory tests related to hepatitis B of the patients were analyzed. Results: HBsAg positivity was detected in 69 (3.2%) of the 2148 workers who were screened. The mean age of workers was 38.55±9.21 years (min-max: 20-60), 52 (75.4%) were male. The majority of those with HBsAg positivity (n=25, 36.2%) were nurses/midwives/health officials, followed by cleaning staff (n=16, 23.2%). The diagnosis of hepatitis B virus infection was first determined during occupational screening (55.2%) and secondly during family screening. It was determined that 44.8% of the workers had a history of sharp injuries, 23.3% had viral serological examinations after injury, and only 13.3% had the serology of the source checked. It was observed that 14 (20.9%) workers diagnosed of hepatitis B did not tell other healthcare workers about their diagnosis. It was found that of those with HBsAg positivity 28 (41.8%) never came to the Infectious Diseases and Clinical Microbiology or Gastroenterology outpatient controls, 10 (14.9%) rarely came, and 8 (11.6%) received treatment for chronic hepatitis B. Conclusions: In this study, the fact that healthcare workers did not go to outpatient follow-ups at regular intervals for further examination and treatment despite the suspicion of hepatitis B infection with life-threatening chronic complications or the known disease suggests that they do not have sufficient awareness of the disease. In addition, the lack of serological control of the source when exposed to sharps injuries is an important problem of preventing infectious diseases. The data of the study reveal that training for workers should be given more importance. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective: Vaccines are one of the promising approaches to control the pandemic. The aim of this study, which was conducted on healthcare workers who previously were or were not infected with COVID-19, was to evaluate the undesirable effects that developed after the CoronaVac (Sinovac Life Sciences, Beijing, China). Methods: Volunteers who were administered the first dose of inactivated CoronaVac vaccine between January 14-24, 2021, were included in this retrospective study. Demographic information was obtained from the questionnaire results and from the data of the applications made due to side effects. Results: 911 healthcare workers, 232 of whom had a history of COVID-19 were included in the study. The mean age of those with a history of COVID-19, was 36 (20-66), and 33.6% were men. 26.7% were doctors, 34.9% were nurses, 155 (66.8%) worked in internal and 62 (26.7%) in surgical units. There was no significant difference between the two groups regarding age, gender, task, and the departments they worked in. Comorbidities were present in 25.9% of the group with a history of COVID-19; the most common disease was asthma (5.6%). Allergy history was 4.3% in the group with COVID-19 and 7.8% in the other group (p=0.070). The incidence of post-vaccine adverse events (62.9%) was higher in those with a history of COVID-19 than in those without (57.1%). The most common adverse event was a headache, and it was significantly higher in the group who had COVID-19 compared to those who had not (36.6% vs. 27.7%; p=0.01). Conclusion: In our study, we observed that the rates of undesirable effects after vaccination were high in individuals with a history of COVID-19. Although it is thought that this situation may be related to the developing antibody response rates, the insufficient number of cases and the lack of determination of the antibody response after infection and vaccination are a disadvantage of the study. Objective: COVID-19 turned into a pandemic in a short time. Healthcare workers are at risk of infection due to their contact with both patients and the society. The aim of this study is to examine the demographic structures of a hospital's employees diagnosed with COVID-19, to examine the use of antiviral treatment and the factors affecting it, and to compare the case number curves of the hospital and the province. Methods: Healthcare workers who had been infected with the COVID-19 virus between 01.06.2020 and 28.02.2021 were included in the study. It is a cross-sectional, retrospective study. The patients were evaluated demographically and epidemiologically, and compliance treatment was examined in healthcare professionals who recommended antiviral drugs. Results: 390 (56.3%) of the 693 healthcare workers were males. Mean age of the patients was 33,54±9,41. 140 (20.2%) of them had chronic diseases. 173 (25%) were cigarette smokers. 161 (23.2%) individuals stated the source of infection as hospital. 509 (73.4%) had symptoms at the time of diagnosis while symptoms occurred later in 116 (16.7%). The most commonly observed symptoms included fatigue (48%), myalgia (47.5%) and headaches (46.9%). Of 693 patients, 164 (23.7%) did not use antiviral treatment. The distribution of the number of cases by months was similar when examined on the basis of hospitals and provinces. In the logistic regression analysis, those with symptoms at the time of diagnosis used antiviral treatment 1.779 times and those with chronic diseases 1.804 times more. Conclusion: The similarity of the case distribution in the society and among healthcare workers supports the effect of the use of personal protection equipment. In our study, it was observed that healthcare workers with risk factors for severe COVID-19 had higher adherence to antiviral treatment. Along with the vaccination activities and mutations, the clinical course and prognosis of the COVID-19 might change in time. Therefore, surveillance data should be collected from healthcare workers and evaluations should be made through interim analyses. Information about antiviral treatments should be given. Objective: Vaccination is the most effective way to control the COVID-19 pandemic all over the world. We aimed to evaluate the relationship between antibody titers and vaccine side effects after the BNT162b2 vaccine was administered as a reminder dose in healthcare workers (HCW) who received two doses of inactivated SARS-CoV-2 vaccine name CoronaVac (Sinovac Life Sciences, Beijing, China). Methods: A total of428 HCWs participated in the study. Participants who received the mRNA vaccine as a reminder dose were evaluated with a questionnaire regarding antibody values and vaccine side effects. Three weeks after the first BNT162b2 vaccine, the same questionnaire was applied face-to-face to HCW, and the same questionnaire was applied to those who received a second reminder dose via telephone. Results: Out of428, 373 (87.1%) HCWs preferred one and 55 (12.9%) two doses of the BNT162b2 vaccine as reminder doses after being vaccinated with an inactivated vaccine. It was observed that side effects were more frequent in women aged 18-40 after a single dose of the BNT162b2 vaccine (p<0.001). The most common side effects are redness, swelling, and pain at the injection site, with a rate of 59.6%. Fatigue-weakness was the most common systemic reaction, with a rate of 58.6%. Axillary lymphadenopathy was observed seen in 3 (1.1%) HCWs. The median value of IgG titers in the third week after the reminder dose was found to be higher in HCW with side effects than those without side effects (p<0.001). When the cumulative incidence rate of vaccinated people was evaluated over 389 people, no cases were observed on the 14th and 30th days after the first reminder dose of BNT162b2. However, the first case was observed on the 60th day, and after the second reminder dose, cases were seen on the 14th, 30th, and 60th days. Conclusion: Since the side effects detected after the BNT162b2 reminder dose were mild to moderate and progressed with local symptoms, it was concluded that highly protective mRNA vaccines could be safely preferred for protection from COVID-19. Objective: Our country has limited data on protective antibody levels following primary tetanus immunization. In this study, we planned to evaluate the tetanus antibody seroprevalence of healthcare workers in our hospital according to age and occupational groups. Methods: Tetanus antibody levels were determined by the enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) method. Antibody results were obtained through the hospital operating system, and the tetanus antibody level ≥0.5 IU/mL was considered seropositive. Results: 77.5% of 2082 healthcare workers were seropositive. According to age groups, the highest seropositivity was between 20-29; the lowest seropositivity was found in individuals over 50 years of age and over (66.3%). We determined that tetanus antibody protection decreased with age (p=0.03). There was no difference between tetanus seropositivity according to occupational groups. Conclusion: Antibody levels of tetanus decrease with age, and protection decreases significantly, especially over 50 years of age. It is important to apply a booster dose every ten years following the primary vaccine schedule in tetanus immunization. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective: Healthcare workers who are in direct contact with patients during the coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) pandemic are at high risk for the contagion of the disease. This situation causes healthcare workers to experience psychosocial problems such as stress, fear, anxiety and social stigma. In this study, it is aimed to determine the perceived stress situation by healthcare professionals due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: The research was carried out between November-December 2020, within the scope of 6 training and research hospitals in the province of Izmir, with healthcare workers working in the clinic, intensive care, polyclinic and emergency services defined for COVID-19. The sample of the study consisted of 490 healthcare professionals who met the inclusion criteria. 'Introductory Form for Health Personnel' and 'Perceived Stress Scale' were used to collect data. Results: The mean score of the perceived stress level of the health workers participating in the study was determined as 16.6+-5.1 and the mean scores of the scale sub-dimensions Perceived Stress and Perceived Coping were determined as 11.0+-4.1 and 5.6+-2.3, respectively. It was determined that the perceived stress level of healthcare workers in the 26-30 age group, doctors, those working in intensive care units and those with a professional year of 5-10 years was higher than that of other healthcare workers (p

The main purpose of this study is to evaluate the knowledge, attitudes and practices of healthcare professionals towards the novel coronavirus during the rapid rise of the COVID-19 epidemic and to determine the mediating effect of attitude on the effect of knowledge level on practices. Hospital-based cross-sectional research design was used in the study. The population of the study consisted of the healthcare workers of Istanbul Training and Research Hospital, which provides secondary healthcare services, and Yedikule Chest Diseases and Thoracic Surgery Training and Research Hospital, which provides tertiary treatment, in Istanbul. Convenience sampling method was preferred in the study. The data were collected by the researchers themselves using the online questionnaire technique. The total number of questionnaires that were evaluated and used in the analysis of the data is 409. SPSS and AMOS package programs were used in the analysis of the data. Descriptive statistics, independent sample t-test, ANOVA test and structural equation modeling were applied to the data. The findings obtained with the structural equation analysis showed that the construct validity of the model was provided. In addition, the path analysis revealed that the direct and indirect impact of knowledge level about COVID-19 on practices towards COVID-19 (mediated by attitude towards COVID-19) has an acceptable index of fit. A great majority of the healthcare workers had sufficient knowledge, a favorable attitude and good practices about sources, transmission, symptoms, signs, prognosis, treatment, management and preventive measures of COVID-19. The knowledge level about COVID-19 has both a direct and indirect impact on practices towards COVID-19 through the mediating role of attitude.
