Bovine herpesvirus 1 (BHV-1), which primarily infect to cattle, may also affect the other ruminant species. This study was carried out to determine presence and prevalence of BHV-1 specific neutralising antibodies in sheep sera collected from different localities in Turkey. Virus neutralisation assay was employed for serological examinations. BHV-1 antibodies were detected in sera collected from 6 out of 14 provinces, and in 25 (2.44%) out of 1024 samples tested. Results of this study show that BHV-1 infection is not common in sheep population in Turkey. On the other side, it could be taken in account that small ruminants infected with BHV-1 may act as a virus source for cattle and may also interfere BHV-1 control schedules, Bovine herpesvirus 1 (BHV-1) primer olarak sığırlarda enfeksiyon oluşturmasına karşın diğer gevişgetiren türlerini de etkileyebilmektedir. Bu araştırmada, Türkiye’nin değişik bölgelerinde yetiştirilen koyunlardan toplanan kan serumu örneklerinde BHV-1’e spesifik nötralizan antikorların varlığı ve enfekiyonun yaygınlığı araştırıldı. Virus nötralizasyon testi ile yapılan çalışmada, örneklerin ait olduğu 14 ilden 6’sında ve test edilen toplam 1024 serum örneğinin 25’inde (%2.44) BHV-1’e spesifik nötralizan antikorlar belirlendi. Elde edilen bulgular ışığında, Türkiye’de koyunlardaki BHV-1 enfeksiyonu seroprevalansının düşük düzeyde olduğu belirlendi
