The Federal Republic of Germany has been one of the historically remarkable countries socially and economically. In this context, one of the outstanding issues is undoubtedly the correlation between unemployment and inflation, which is at the intersection of economy and social policy. Therefore, in the study, the unemployment-inflation trade-off in Germany was examined with the help of macroeconomic data in the context of the Modified/Original Phillips Curve, which explores the unemployment-inflation relationship. The empirical study method is time series analysis, and the monthly data set covers the period from January 1992 to April 2023. According to the study's findings, no causality relationship could be detected between unemployment and inflation variables in Germany in the period, neither in the long run nor in the short run. Therefore, it shows that the German economy does not have to put up with the inflation problem in the fight against unemployment and the unemployment problem in the battle against inflation. In this respect, it would be beneficial to thoroughly examine the German labour market structure and monetary policy strategy in the literature.

Gender equality has long been a central theme of the European social model since the Maastricht Treaty. Using the example of work - life balance policies, this article aims to identify two successive periods and explore the changing policy paradigm with respect to gender equality at the EU. In so doing, the article draws on two conceptual approaches in terms of theoretical basis: (a) Esping-Andersen’s three welfare pillar conceptualisation and (b) genderised and de-genderised distinction. Drawing on a comprehensive literature review and the content analysis of official EU policy texts, the article contends that the EU gender policies have shifted away from serving to change the redistribution of work between men and women, towards improving women’s employment opportunities.

Social policy in the European Union (EU) remains sidelined in the debates on the future of Europe. In the last decade, EU has faced numerous crises having significant repercussions for its social policies, including immigration waves, the Brexit and the Covid-19 pandemic. As an area of direct concern to EU citizens, with its features on employment, education/training, non-discrimination and equality bearing crucial implications for their daily lives, social policy should be re-considered from an angle that encompasses the citizens’ perspective and effectively addresses the major challenges it faces in the new global order. The main objective of this study is to explore the implications of these challenges for EU social policy, which in turn, has a key role in shaping the future of the EU.

In almost every part of the world, different types of disasters and the difficulties caused by disasters are encountered. Disasters, which mostly take place all of a sudden, have the potential to bring about severe consequences in physical, social, economic, and psychological terms. Recently, the damage and losses of disasters have been increasing in parallel with the increase in frequency, severity, and duration. While disasters affect all parts of society deeply, they have far more severe impacts on vulnerable groups such as children, older people, women, and disabled people. It is vitally important to minimize the destructive effects of disasters in terms of the whole society, especially vulnerable groups. Within this context, the study aims to question the hardships revealed by disasters in terms of vulnerable groups and propose solutions for reducing their adverse effects on the mentioned groups. In the study, the literature scan method was utilized. Consequently, considering that the individuals in the society have different levels of vulnerability and capacity to cope in the event of disasters, the development and implementation of disaster managing strategies specific to vulnerable groups are seen to be crucial both for minimizing the damage these groups can get and for making the society resistant to disasters. Nevertheless, social assistance and social services that come to the forefront as the essential means of social policy during and after disasters must be secured to meet the necessities of vulnerable groups and enable them to sustain their lives. The aim of the study is to comprehensively address menstrual poverty in Turkey, to explain the causes and effects of this problem and to present it in a gendered context. The study reveals that menstrual poverty in Turkey is not visible enough in society and the public sphere and that the issue cannot be solved by simple measures such as tax reductions on menstrual products. Furthermore, the causes of menstrual poverty in Turkey are related to economic status, access to health services, education level, social norms and taboos. In this context, articles, and research conducted by civil society organizations and international organizations were used. It was also suggested that studies and legal regulations on menstrual poverty in Turkey are insufficient and that more comprehensive measurements should be made and effective social policy measures should be developed to support gender equality. In recent times, when environmental pollution has increased and climate change has accelerated, the impact of these changes and transformations on social life and welfare levels has become undeniable. This study aims to understand the determinants of green social policy. This new concept emerged in the context of social policy and the environment in conditions where the effects of environmental destruction on sustainable development are increasingly visible. In this stud, The importance of sustainable development in terms of the climate crisis, the place of social justice and ecological justice approach in social policy discussions, and discussions in the national and international literature on environmental ethics in sustainable development are included. This article is a compilation study prepared with the contribution of rich national and international literature to increase the visibility of “green social policy”, a relatively new concept in the literature and offers a unique perspective on sustainable development and social justice in the climate crisis. One of the main inferences of the study is that poverty and environmental problems take place in a nurturing cycle, that the policies to be developed are sustainable and that it is inevitable to move to a “green” understanding in the field of social policy. In this study, the question of how the concept of social municipalism is perceived by its practitioners is sought to be answered by using a qualitative research method that offers the opportunity to analyze a specific phenomenon in depth. In the study, the municipality, which is the local government unit of the district, whose population is relatively lower in socioeconomic income compared to other central districts in Antalya, which receives large numbers of immigrants and where poverty is concentrated, was taken as a sample. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with the staff working in the units that carry out social municipalism practices of the municipality, and the perception of social municipalism, practices, problems experienced, pandemic impact and self-assessments were analyzed using the MAXQDA 2020 program. In the research outputs, it was observed that the participants understood the concept of social municipalism mostly through social assistance, health practices are predominant, intensive migration is seen as the biggest problem, and the influence of the manager in social municipalism practices is expressed as high. In addition, it has been determined that a human-oriented social municipalism practice is based on and that the pandemic has caused restrictions on practices and activities. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Life satisfaction, quality of life and happiness are more often used to measure the well-being of individuals recently. The aim of this study is to examine the effect of certain social policy practices carried out by the central government and municipalities in Turkey on the happiness of the individuals. In order to achieve this, 2019 TURKSTAT Life Satisfaction Survey (YMA) data were used. Multinomial regression analyzes show that in addition to the effects of socio-demographic variables such as gender, age, educational status, marital status income on happiness, satisfaction with health, social security and education services provided by the central government is positively correlated with happiness. Furthermore, it has been found that the disabled services and courses run by municipalities at the local level have positive effects on the happiness of the individuals. Strengthening and development of these policies may contribute to the increase of life satisfaction in Turkey.

According to secondary school placement system (TEOG) between 2013 and 2017, all incoming high school students in Turkey were placed in a high school based on their TEOG exam scores. This placement system became an example of extensive academic grouping. This qualitative study explores the consequences of TEOG-based placement of students, in which students and therefore schools are ranked according to students' test scores. In-depth interviews were conducted with a total of 149 participants selected among students, teachers, and school administrators through stratified purposive sampling. The findings of this study suggest that overall school climate, perceptions towards the school, motivations of students and teachers, learning opportunities presented in the school, and therefore, the overall quality of the education differs largely based on the achievement levels of schools that are identified by TEOG scores of the incoming students. Furthermore, there are strong evidences that TEOG-based placements group students not only based on their academic success but also on their socio-economic backgrounds. The traditional extended family, which is common in agricultural society, has left its place to the nuclear family in industrialized societies after the Industrial Revolution. The family, the basic unit of society, has been experiencing a new crisis since the 1950s: disintegration. With the disintegration of the nuclear family, the family began to dissolve. Broken families have been created by the increase in divorce rates. These families are structured around a single parent, usually consisting of mother and child. Single-parent broken families are also single-parent families. While the cause of the single parent family has been divorces since the 1950s, illegitimate births have become the main cause since the 1970s. This situation causes even more destructive effects on the family structure. While there is separation of parents in divorce, there is a problem of paternity in case of illegitimate birth. Legal regulations, facilitation of adoption and widespread use of surrogate mothers have led to a significant increase in single father families among single-parent families in recent years.In short, family structures that are very different from each other, which are divided into many types, and which are united in an unformed partnership with parents of two opposite sexes, are encountered. Turkish society has also been having difficulties in recent years in resisting the disintegration seen in the family structure. In this study, the disintegration in the family structure is analyzed for the five larger geographical units in which Uzunköprü takes part of. The dissolution in the family structure was carried out by analyzing the change experienced between 2014 and 2021. The findings show that families are in the process of disintegration at all five geographical levels, from Uzunköprü at the district level to the whole of Turkey at the country level. While extended families and nuclear families are decreasing, there is a significant increase in single-parent families and nonfamily households. In single-parent families, there is a dramatic increase especially in singlefather families. All these findings show that the disintegration process in the family in Turkish society coincides with the developed Western societies. It can be concluded that there is an urgent need for policies to strengthen the family so that the dissolved family structure, which has become a social problem in Western societies, does not deepen in Turkish society. In this study, the evolution of the concept of old age in perceptions and places from the past to our time was discussed with a focus on the never-ending quest for status in a changing and transforming society. The solutions naturally developed by the society over the natural course using traditional motifs against threats to the values of societies, which are increasingly becoming like each other in the globalizing world, were investigated. In this study, which aims to clarify the current situation of the old age phenomenon in Anatolian culture and to seek a new position based on the cultural and religious codes of the society, the descriptive method has been adopted, contemporary literature sources have been scanned, and the historical process in the Anatolian geography has been examined. In this context, the religious and cultural responsibilities of individuals, family members, and society for the protection of the functions of old people in society were addressed in the study, touching on the concept of aging in place and the practice of residing closer to family elders. As a result, it has been emphasized that it is a necessity for the elderly to maintain their place in the family and society today, as they are positioned on the axis of love, respect and compassion in Turkish-Islamic culture, to be able to make cultural transfer to their grandchildren, and to live in their homes where they feel a sense of belonging and receive the necessary services at home. A space should be created for old people to allow them to exist by sharing their rich life experiences with others instead of forcing them to make choices where they will be isolated from life, the family, young generations, and social relations. Reasonable methods should be sought for developing and implementing policies to ensure that the entire society can make use of the precious treasury of experiences of old people instead of hiding this treasury away in old age asylums where responsibilities and care related to them are undertaken through institutional services. Resettlement movements in Turkey regulate with the Settlement Law No. 2510 (1934) and Law No. 7269 (1959). Due to the flood and landslide that occurred in Trabzon, Çaykara in 1959, 408 families from the villages of Kabataş (Fotinos), Şahinkaya (Şur), and Ulucami (Zeno) were resettled in Hatay Kırıkhan in 1965. This study aims to scrutinize the resettlement processes to Kırıkhan in 1965 of the people of Çaykara, known as the people of Trabzon or the Laz people according to the Law 2510 and the Law 7269. In this resettlement, the state provided them a detached houses with a cowhouse in a garden and 2030 decares of fields in the Amik plan. The resettled people of Çaykara encountered and had serious serious social, cultural, economic difficulties with the Mediterranean climate and culture. In this study designed as a qualitative research, the data was gathered with in-depth interviews and observations. In this study, the affect of resettlement processes of the people of Çaykara as a social policy application after the natural disaster was scrutinized through the change and transition within their everyday, social, cultural and economic life and the interaction with the people of Kırıkhan. In this research, it is found out that the resettlement in 1965 was created a change in the socio-cultural and economic lives of the people of Çaykara, caused an interaction with the people of Kırıkhan, overcame all difficulties with hardworking, social solidarity networks, hemşerilik (fellow-townmenship) and imece (collective work). In this process, the people of Çaykara protecting their Black Sea's social and cultural characteristics have adopted the Mediterranean's culture. At the same time, they learned cotton and wheat farming and utilized the offered house and field by the state to accumulate capital and to enter trade, industry and construction sectors and then gained an economic power in Kırıkhan. Thus, they are happy to be resettled in Kırıkhan and to live here. Election manifestos were evaluated in terms of local social policy in the study. The aim of the research is to analyze the election manifestos of CHP Headquarters and CHP Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayoral Candidate in the local elections held on March 31, 2019, in terms of social policy. Descriptive content analysis was performed using the MAXQDA 20 program in the research. Social policy precaution may vary according to social problems in the social structure. From this point the similarity status of the local election manifesto with the election manifesto announced by the headquarters of the same party has been evaluated. It is seen that there is a similarity in the centrallocal election manifestos in terms of disabled, women, elderly and unemployed, environment, transportation and traffic. Betimsel analiz yöntemi kullanılan çalışmada, enerji yoksulluğuna ilişkin kavramsal çerçeve çizilmiş ve enerji yoksulluğunu ölçme yöntemleri ile enerji yoksulluğunun nedenleri tartışılmıştır. Çalışmada tüm dünyada enerji ihtiyacının arttığı ancak bölgeler ve ülkeler bazında enerji tüketiminde ciddi derecede eşitsizliklerin olduğu görülmüştür. Enerji için fosil yakıtların tüketilmesiyle birlikte artan sera gazları küresel ısınmayı ve iklim değişikliğini de beraberinde getirmektedir. Temiz enerji kaynaklarına erişilememesi yoksullukla beraber sağlık sorunlarını da artırmakta ve küresel kirlenmeye de yol açmaktadır. Hane halklarının özel durumlarını göz önünde bulunduran ve ülkelerin kendi dinamiklerine göre şekillenen politika tedbirlerinin acilen uygulanması gerekmektedir. Bu doğrultuda hane halklarının gelirleri arttırılmalı, insan onuruna yakışır işler sağlanmalı ve mevcut yoksulluğun sürdürülmemesi için refah politikaları hızla devreye sokulmalıdır.

The concept of poverty and anti-poverty practices have always occupied an important place in social life and on the agenda of governments. Practical examples highlight the transformation of these facts and the perception of poverty in the historical process. Today, the concept is mainly addressed at the urban scale, particularly in developing and developed countries. Especially in the last quarter of the 20th century, there has been a major process of transformation in poverty and welfare regimes in response to economic, political and social changes. In this period in which the understanding of the welfare state has weakened, the rapid change in literature is largely attributed to the dominance of neoliberalism. Because during this period, neoliberalism concentrated on establishing a new economic order to secure the power of the ruling classes. For the establishment of this new order, various practices such as downsizing of the public sector, privatizations, flexibility of employment markets, and reduction of labor costs began to spread on a global scale. In parallel with these structural changes in the economy, we can see that there have been significant changes in poverty and anti-poverty practices. In this context, in this study, the transformation of urban poverty is discussed and the change in the approach of fighting against urban poverty in line with the development of social policy. Although social policies are aimed at all segments of the society, social policy in the narrow sense covers the business relations of workers and employees and the problems arising from this relationship. In this study, a bibliometric analysis of the publications made in academic publications about social policy and related employees, which is the main element of working life, was made. Articles and literature articles published in the Web of Science Core Collection database are selected. The concepts of "social policy" and "employee/worker" were searched and a total of 777 articles and literature articles were reached. The obtained data were analyzed in the R programming language based bibliometrix package program. In line with the findings, the general view of social policy and employee-related publications, the most productive and influential authors, studies, journals, countries and institutions in the field were specified, the change in the trend topics and the change in the field, the relationship networks between the cited authors, studies and journals were revealed with co-citation analysis.
