- Abstract
As a result of scientific and technological developments in today's world, global education has started to take its place in the educational systems throughout the world and become more significant in recent years. Since global education has multiple effects on societies, it is also crucial in helping students to become informed, active, and global citizens. This study employs document analysis, a qualitative research method, in order to examine how the themes regarding global education are shaped in the Citizenship and Democracy Education textbook and curriculum designed for the eighth grade students. Findings of the study showed that some themes, regarding global education, are embedded into the curriculum only to provide knowledge without any emphasis on necessary skills and values, and other sub-themes completely ignored along with the global dimension of citizenship education.

In parallel with the rise of the experience economy, tourist experience and the relation between tourist experience and memorability attracted the attention of many researchers. Studies on the relationship between memorable hotel experiences, and their antecedents and consequences have increased significantly in recent years. However, conducting more studies on the subject, especially research on identifying guest experiences in self-owned concept hotels, will contribute to the enrichment of the literature. Based on this, this research aims to determine the memorable experiences of visitors in cave hotels that stand out with their concept and serve in the Cappadocia region of Nevşehir city. A qualitative research method was adopted to achieve this aim. Findings were obtained through the content analysis technique. The data was collected in May 2024. As a result of data collection, all reviews made to the top 10 cave hotels on the Tripadvisor website were evaluated, and a total of 2132 comments were identified. According to the findings, it was concluded that the memorable guest experience was grouped under four themes. These experiential dimensions are named local hospitality, location (location of the hotel), the physical environment, and rich meals (breakfast, local dishes), respectively. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
Official documents on education and training are important documents that give clues about the kind of people that states all over the world wish to raise. When these documents are sufficiently analyzed, it is possible to trace the characteristics with which a society will be equipped in the short, medium, and long term. An in-depth analysis of the frequently changing educational documents in Türkiye would provide important data to predict what kind of future awaits the country. From this point of view, this article discusses what the Secondary EducationCurriculum for the Course of Religious Culture and Knowledge of Ethics (9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th Grades) The Century of Türkiye Education Model, which was shared with the public in 2024, promises in terms of individual and society-centred ideological elements. In this context, the main problem of the article is “What approach does the Secondary Education Curriculum for the Course of Religious Culture and Knowledge of Ethics (9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th Grades) The Century of Türkiye Education Model has in terms of individual and society-centred ideological elements?”. In line with the main problem of the research, it is aimed to reveal the approach of the Curriculum in terms of individual and society-centred ideological elements. Numerous non-governmental organizations have published reports on the Curriculum so far. Also, there have been on the Curriculum numerous opinions and assessments in the media. However, since it has been published recently, it is difficult to say that there are enough academic studies on the Curriculum in the literature yet. Considering this situation, it is possible to say that this article has high potential to contribute to the literature. In the research, the qualitative research method was used to find answers to the main problem. Since it is in question to reveal the current situation of the Curriculum in terms of individual and society-centred ideological elements, the case study design, one of the qualitative research designs, was preferred. In this context, the Curriculum, which constitutes the study unit of the research, was analyzed by document analysis technique. During the analysis of the Curriculum, the checklist prepared by the researchers was used, and the data were subjected to content analysis. The findings obtained as a result of the analysis were evaluated under six themes: identity, authority, freedom, justice-equality, self-actualization, epistemic approach, and critical thinking. As a result of the research, it was determined that the Curriculum has contents that lead to both individual and society-centred ideological elements in the context of identity, authority, freedom, justice-equality, self-realization, epistemic approach, and critical thinking themes. However, it was observed that the intensity of individual and society-centred ideological elements on the basis of themes was different. In this regard, it was observed that society-centred ideological elements were more dominant in the themes of identity and authority; individual-centred ideological elements were more dominant in the themes of freedom, justice-equality, self-realization, epistemic approach, and critical thinking. At the same time, it was concluded that differentiation came to the forefront within the scope of individual-centred ideological elements based on themes. The state has an approach that prioritize society in the context of society-centred ideological elements, and individual and social needs are sometimes ignored. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

HUMAN resources departments , *PERSONNEL management , *LITERATURE reviews , *QUALITATIVE research , *CONTENT analysis - Abstract
In today's world where data is used intensively, the concept of data literacy should be used in all sectors. It is thought that the decisions to be taken by analyzing and interpreting the data correctly will give more accurate results. With the right data literacy applied in the business world, it is possible for both the development of employees and the growth of businesses to continue their existence. In this direction, the aim of this study is to measure the data literacy perceptions of managers working in the human resources department, which is one of the most important departments of the enterprises, and to reveal the importance of this concept in human resources management applications. Since there is no study on data literacy in the field of human resources in the domestic literature, it is thought that the study will contribute to the literature. In this study, qualitative research method was preferred. Phenomenological design was used as the research design. The study group of the research consists of 10 human resources managers who are conscious and experienced in data literacy. Participants were contacted via e-mail using the e-interview method. The collected data were analyzed by content analysis method. As a result of the answers given by the participants to the questions created as a result of the literature review, it was found that the data literacy perception level of human resources managers were high and this concept was considered important in human resources management practices. IMMIGRANT students , *QUALITATIVE research , *CULTURE conflict , *CHILDREN of immigrants , *CONTENT analysis - Abstract
In this study, the effects of migration, which has become a current problem, on education and the problems experienced by students with migration were tried to be determined according to some variables. It is hoped that the determination of teachers' views on the educational problems of school-age children coming to Türkiye with immigration can contribute to future studies in this field. The research was conducted with qualitative method and case study design of qualitative research method was used. A semi-structured interview form prepared by the researchers was used as a data collection tool. The study group of the research consists of 50 teachers working in five primary schools in Bağlar district of Diyarbakır province and selected according to the criterion sampling technique. Main themes, sub-themes and codes were created by content analysis of the data obtained. It can be said that the most intensely experienced problems of immigrant students in terms of adaptation are inability to speak Turkish and communication, which is a predicted finding. In addition, having problems in socialisation, grouping, anger, aggression and culture conflict can be considered as another expected situation. While teachers were able to communicate with the migrant student after a certain period of time, it was found that they could not communicate with the family or had difficulty in this regard. Teachers should have knowledge about the culture of migrant students and use methods and techniques that integrate students. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The Balkans, due to its geographical location, has hosted various empires, allowing the culinary culture in the region to diversify and enrich through interactions with different cultures. Balkan culinary culture has been shaped by factors such as history, geography, and ethnic diversity. Each country has its own unique flavors and traditions. The main objective of this study is to examine the menu contents of food and beverage establishments classified as "Balkan Restaurant" in Istanbul and analyze online customer reviews on Google. The study is designed as qualitative research, employing archival research, document scanning, and content analysis techniques as qualitative research methods. Establishments with inaccessible menu content were accessed through their official websites or social media accounts. In this context, 13 Balkan restaurants operating between 2010-2024 were subjected to a detailed evaluation, and a total of 2689 customer reviews were analyzed using content analysis methods. The content from Google reviews was obtained through a Python-based application. The obtained data was analyzed and visualized using the Microsoft Power BI program. According to results, restaurant menus were assessed under three primary categories: "delicious," "tasteless," and "expensive." Prominent and flavorful dishes like "Pljeskavica, Cevapcici, and Bosnian Dumplings" were highlighted in Balkan restaurants. This suggests that Balkan restaurants typically maintain their cultural heritage, keeping their menu offerings consistent without major alterations, thus preserving traditional elements throughout the years. It has been concluded that businesses not providing services in this manner are generally perceived by customers as either tasteless or expensive. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Corporate communication, which has expanded its sphere of influence with the developments in communication technologies, has begun to be studied with different fields and topics. The organization of corporate communication research, which is constantly increasing quantitatively, will be a guide for those interested in the subject. For this purpose, theses on "corporate communication" written between 2004 and 2024, covering the last 20 years, were examined by bibliometric analysis. An advanced search was made with keywords through YÖKTEZ and 89 theses that were suitable for the purpose and scope of the study were included in the evaluation after various filtering on the subject. Of these theses, 69 are master's theses and 20 are doctoral theses. It was seen that postgraduate theses on corporate communication were handled in different dimensions with many different disciplines, departments and keywords. Qualitative research method was mostly used in the studies. Marmara University made the highest quantitative contribution to the studies on the subject. Although there is a postgraduate program in the field of corporate communication at Ege University, the fact that only one study has been conducted is considered as an important finding. CONSERVATISM , *ACQUISITION of data , *QUALITATIVE research , *CULTURAL studies , *CONSERVATIVES - Abstract
The way audiences perceive media messages varies according to three different reading methods under the title of coding/decoding theory put forward by Stuart Hall. These reading methods are based on the idea that the individual moves from a passive to an active position in the face of media messages and is free to perceive the media message within the framework of certain criteria. The aim is to determine how the conservatism and secularism codes of the Kızılcık Şerbeti series are interpreted by audiences. The research is a qualitative study and the data collection method is in-depth interview method. The sample was determined as the Kızılcık Şerbeti series and the analysis was carried out with 8 participants. The data were analyzed using the descriptive analysis method. As a result, it was seen that the participants mostly made a dominant reading of the conservatism and secularism codes in the Kızılcık Şerbeti series and thought that these codes in the series reflected the truth. Participants think that conservative and secular women are marginalized and humiliated. At the same time, participants feel uncomfortable about the codes of conservatism and secularism and often read these codes in the series with an oppositional reading method. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

TEMPORARY protection of refugees , *SYRIAN Civil War, 2011- , *QUALITATIVE research , *JUDGMENT sampling , *SOCIAL capital - Abstract
The state of war in Syria forces people to migrate. The outbreak of the Syrian civil war in 2011 resulted in Syrians migrating to Turkey. According to December 22, 2022, data, there are 3 million 543 thousand 837 Syrians with temporary protection status in Turkey. Approximately 88 thousand of them live in Kilis. The ratio to the local population is about 60 per cent. However, this ratio has been observed to be around 97 per cent in 2017. This study investigated why the Syrian, which has significantly decreased, migrated from Kilis. The aim of the study is to determine whether their expectations are met in the provinces when they leave Kilis. Due to its relevance to the subject, interviews were conducted with Syrians who had migrated from Kilis using qualitative research methods. The data collection instrument used was a semi-structured interview. The purposive sampling technique was used within the scope of the study. The result of the research showed that Syrians had problems making a living due to the lack of job opportunities in Kilis, and they found the solution by going to another place where they could make a living thanks to their social capital. In addition, it was also concluded that although they can make a living where they go, Syrians do not fully feel the belonging they feel in Kilis. Finally, although there are studies about Syrians in Kilis, none has addressed the reasons for the migration of Syrians living in Kilis to other places. In this way, the unique value of the study becomes apparent. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The mentality, a way of thinking influenced by social worldviews, is not only a mental process but also a phenomenon arising from its connection with the social structure. The fundamental structure of mentality involves many factors such as religion, economy, social and political conditions, and appears to be a complex process. Each element of this process affects each other directly and sometimes indirectly, and this is reflected in novels that deal with the phenomenon of mentality and the social structure with its basic components. The study aims to reveal the perception of mentality in Adalet Ağaoğlu's novels Üç Beş Kişi and Hayır. The works analyze mentality perception in line with Sabri Fehmi Ülgener's ideas, considering religion, economy, politics, and culture. In this study, the content analysis technique, one of the qualitative research methods, was employed. With this technique, Ağaoğlu's novels Üç Beş Kişi and Hayır were analyzed based on the specified elements. Ağaoğlu's novels explore his time's major issues, revealing his mentality through religious, economic, cultural, and political thoughts, as well as his personal life and works. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Hüseyin Nihal Atsiz, with his works, is one of the most important thinkers and writers of twentieth century Turkish literature, history and culture. This aspect of Atsiz has been a guiding factor in studying his works of theoretical and fictional genre, in terms of ancient Turkish beliefs and culture. In the study, the qualitative research method applied, the data collection tool was the author's works and the data obtained was content analysis. From this perspective, a content analysis was made up about important data on ancient Turkish beliefs and culture, seen especially in the novels Deli Kurt, Ruh Adam and Bozkurt. With this analysis, the reflections of ancient Turkish beliefs and culture from the past to the present were evaluated. It was thought that, until their acceptance of Islam in a mass, Turks led a nomadic life, transitioned to settled life (Uyghurs) and interacted with different cultures, civilizations and religions for socio-economic reasons. In this study; in addition to showing the effects of lifestyles, factors such as war and migration and cultural relations on beliefs and culture, it is aimed to reflect the religions and beliefs accepted by the Turks in historical process on literary works and to express Atsız's views on culture. SHI'AH , *ATHEISM , *QUALITATIVE research , *NARRATION , *CRITICISM - Abstract
Shi'a has divided into many sects due to various reasons throughout the historical process. One of the sects formed as a result of these divisions is Wāqifiyya. The word Wāqifī has been used in different contexts in many sects, In Shi'a terminology, for those who do not accept the death of Imām Mūsā al-Kāẓim, when he is used in absolute terms, reject the imamate of his son ʿAlī al-Riḍā who was appointed after him, adopt the idea that al-Kāẓim will return as the Mahdī and continue their beliefs on his imamate and jurisprudence. is used. Although materiality played an important role in the emergence of Wāqifiyya, it is seen that other reasons also had an impact. The main factor that makes Wāqifiyya important in terms of Shi'a hadith science is that the situation of the narrators who have this idea in terms of justice and control and whether the issue of whether they can bring evidence from the narrations conveyed through them remains current in the history of Shi'a hadith. Therefore, knowing Wāqifiyya in detail will help to understand the internal criticism mechanism in the sect and the methods of approaching the sects that Shi'a sees as other. Although many studies have been conducted focusing on other sects of Shia, no independent study has been conducted on Wāqifiyya. Our study aims to contribute to this deficiency seen in the literature. In the article, what is the value of Wāqifiyya and the narrations coming from them in Shia hadith thought? The answer to the question is sought. In order to better understand the issue, the study will examine the subject from a descriptive and analytical perspective, paying utmost attention to the principle of ideaevent connection. For this purpose, documentation analysis method, one of the qualitative research methods, will be used. In the final analysis, although Shi'a accuses the Wāqifīs of lying, atheism, infidelity and distorting narrations, they attach value to the narrations coming from their sect and use their narrations wherever they need within certain conditions. It is possible to explain this with the dominance of those who adopt the Wākīfī view in the sect, and the narrations coming through them are widely included in the hadith and rijāl books and have become established in the sect. QUALITATIVE research , *HISTORY of Islam , *NARRATION , *TURKS , *RESEARCH methodology - Abstract
The attitude of the Turks towards the Muslim-Arabs during the time of the Companions is an important issue that requires research. This is because the establishment of accurate grounds for the relationship between the Turkish element and the Arabs during the Umayyad period is largely dependent on this. For this reason, it is necessary to refer to the period of Khulafaur Rasyidin (11-40/632-661). The subject of the research is the direct relations established by the Arabs as a political entity with the Turkish element located in the north and northeast of the Arabian Peninsula during the reigns of Hazrat Omar (13-23/634-644) and Hazrat 'Uthmān (23-35/644-656). Since there were no noteworthy incidents regarding the Turks during the reigns of Hazrat Abu Bakr (23-35/644-656) and Hazrat Ali (35-40/656-661), the study has been limited to the relations of Hazrat Omar and Hazrat 'Uthmān. The purpose of the research is to chronologically examine the period of the conquest movements initiated by the generation of the companions outside the Peninsula in relation to the Turks, based on primary sources. The main goal is to contribute to the research and understanding of the Umayyad period Turkish-Arab relations in a healthy way through the character analysis of this contact. In this study, in which the narrative research technique, one of the sub-headings of the qualitative research method, was applied, it was revealed that the Turks regarded the military activities of the Muslim-Arabs against their lands during the Khulafaur Rasyidin period as an invasion, and that they often fought in Khazar, Khorasan and Tokharistan to protect their independence and freedom, and they tried partially achieved this through agreements in al-Bāb, Gorgan and Dihistān. The relationship between the parties primarily took on a military character during the reign of Hazrat Omar, and this situation continued in a similar vein during the reign of Hazrat 'Uthmān. While Hazrat Omar did not allow anyone to go beyond the Oxus (Transoxiana) where the Turkish element lived, several expeditions were organized here during the reign of Hazrat 'Uthman, and various agreements were reached with the people of the region. It is seen that the armies of the Caliphate failed against the Khazar Turks in this period. This situation had negative effects on domestic politics and the economy. Additionally, it should also be noted that the failure to conquer the Khazar homeland prevented the Slavic and Eastern European peoples from direct contact with the Muslim-Arabs. It is mentioned in some sources that during the time of Hazrat Uthman, a group that included Companions embarked on a campaign to the Fergana region, where Turks also lived; however, it does not seem very likely that such an event took place during this period. Radical Islam is a phenomenon that began to appear in Turkey in the 1970s. The radical tendencies that increased in the world in the second half of the 20th century began to show themselves in Turkey. The radical Islamic tendency, which increased especially between 1985 and 1994, gradually decreased after 1994 with the strengthening of the Welfare Party, and this decrease accelerated even more during the Justice and Development Party's rule. Study; It deals with the factors affecting the deradicalization process of radical Islamists in Turkey and the effects of local political practices on the deradicalization process of radical Islamists, the increase in the level of knowledge, experiences with family and social environment, the desire to improve social and economic conditions, and deradicalization in the context of the results of global radical Islamic movements. aims to examine the process. To achieve this goal, it was deemed appropriate to choose qualitative research method and interview technique. From a qualitative research perspective, an attempt was made to examine in depth the political, social and economic experiences that led to the deradicalization process of radical Islamist men, using semi-structured questions and interview technique. As a result of the analysis, effective factors in the deradicalization of radical Islamist individuals were identified due to the change in individual and social conditions. The experiences of radical Islamists in the deradicalization process resulted in the researcher's interpretation and interpretation. In terms of the study's position in the literature, it can be said that it is the first study to evaluate this process. The fact that the deradicalization of radical Islamist men in the 1980s and 1990s has not been studied before makes this study important. The research started in February 2022 and ended in December. A total of 20 participants who were inclined towards radical Islam in the 1980s and 1990s and whose radicalism later faded away took part in the study. In the first part of the study, which deals with the deradicalization process of radical Islam on individuals in the political, social and economic context, the impact of Necmettin Erbakan, the leader of the Welfare Party, and Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the leader of the Justice and Development Party, on the transformation of radical Islamist individuals was evaluated. As a second factor, the increase in the level of both religious and general knowledge played an important role in reducing radical tendencies. Individuals begin to evaluate the world from a broader perspective by increasing their knowledge, especially during the university education process. As a third factor, experiences arising from communication with family and social circle also weaken the sharp outlook and attitude. As the fourth factor, the effect of socioeconomic conditions on the reduction of the individual's radical tendency was evaluated. The last factor is the impact of the results achieved by radical Islamist movements in the world. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

SOCIAL media , *FOLKLORE , *QUALITATIVE research , *JUDGMENT sampling , *SOCIAL networks - Abstract
Popular religiosity refers to the dialectical relationship between religion and society, as a term that refers to the prevalence of folk beliefs rather than scriptural religiosity. One of the channels through which this relationship can be studied is through social media networks which allow users to share religious and cultural content. Popular religiosity attracts intense interest, especially in social media, attracts intense interest with its various aspects, and taṣawwuf is one of the main areas in which popular religiosity is nourished today. In this context, the relationship between taṣawwuf-themed pages opened on social media channels and popular religiosity is the main problem of this study. In this regard, the religious sources, reliability, etc., of the posts on the pages were analyzed. The study aims to reveal the appearance of taṣawwuf on social media as a source of popular religiosity. The study applied the technique of content analysis using the qualitative research method. In this context, words related to taṣawwuf were scanned on Facebook, and it was found that "Friends of Allah," "Taṣawwuf," and "Mawlānā" were used the most. Within the framework of this determination, one hundred and eighty posts on nine pages using these concepts were analyzed. The data for this study were collected from the last twenty posts made as of January 6, 2024. Purposive sampling was used to select the pages, and the pages with the highest number of followers and sharing up-to-date content were included in the study. As a result of the study, it was observed that taṣawwuf content is reflected on social media in different forms, genres, and themes and that it sometimes evolves into a dimension that goes beyond taṣawwuf topics; the pages analyzed do not provide sufficient information about competence and transparency; and the number of interactions is low compared to the number of followers. When evaluating the relationship of the analyzed posts with the dimensions of religion, it is found that the dimension of worship has the highest rate, the dimension of emotion and morality follows it at closely, the dimension of belief and thought remains at a low level; the level of inclusion of scholarly sources is weak; and the words of religious-ṣūfī figures are predominantly prominent. In addition, it has been observed that the ṣūfī content on the analyzed pages covers various topics such as dhikr-prayer, greetings, condolences, commemoration, decency, and good morals. As a result, it has been understood that taṣawwuf in social media manifests itself as a syncretic issue closely related to popular religiosity. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
