root ,stem ,noun ,verb ,morphology ,Language and Literature ,Ural-Altaic languages ,PH1-5490 - Abstract
This study analyzed issues surrounding the concept of "stem" in Turkish linguistics. It began by establishing a general framework based on existing definitions of "root" and "stem" in the literature. Subsequently, it analyzed the treatment and examples of "stem" presented in Turkish grammar books published from 1940 to the present. The analysis revealed inconsistencies in the scope and definition of "stem," with terms like "root," "base," "derived root," "closed stem" and "closed form unit" often used interchangeably in examples. These inconsistencies stem not only from varying terminological preferences but also from the challenge of handling words derived from roots that do not exist independently. While some researchers propose adopting the term "base" to address these limitations, modern linguists increasingly favor terms like "form unit" and "word unit."

MORPHOLOGY (Grammar) , *VERBS , *NOUNS , *ADJECTIVES (Grammar) , *GRAMMAR - Abstract
One of the important subjects of morphology is adverbs. Adverbs are noun-derived words that precede verbs, adjectives, adjectival verbs or adverbs and complement them in terms of time, space, direction, quality, quantity, scarcity-multiplicity and question. The aim of the study is to analyze Zazaki adverbs, explain their properties and make them concrete with examples. In the study, adverbs used in Zazaki are classified according to their origins, structures and functions. Each section has its own sub-headings and many illustrative examples are given in each section and these examples are also explained. In the grammar books written on Zazaki, a lot of information about adverbs in Zazaki is given and a master's thesis on adverbs in Zazaki was prepared independently. However, it is not possible to say that these studies are sufficient. As a branch of science, linguistics is cumulative and progressive. Previous studies were evaluated and the deficiencies in these studies were tried to be eliminated. In addition to the works written on Zazaki grammar, linguistic works written in Persian, Arabic, Turkish, Sorani and Kurmanji were also utilized. Considering the classifications made on adverbs in these languages, adverbs have been tried to be explained. In this respect, this study is an original and important work. In the study, more than 165 sentences were given as examples and the adverbs in these sentences were analyzed. Adverbs are elements used in sentences with various functions. According to their usage areas, words with nouns can also be used as adverbs. Examples of these words are also given in the study. Adverbs are also a part of syntax, but this study does not focus on the syntax features of adverbs. Methods and techniques such as explanation, exemplification and interpretation were used in the study. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
There are numerous works in our literature depicting the meeting of Moses with Almighty Allah at Mount Tûr. Whereas some of them provide information about the entire life of the Prophet Moses in the style of Musa-nāme, others focus only on this Mount Tūr meeting. Rāżınāme-i Ḥażret-i Mūsā ʿAleyhiʿ al-ṣalām, a manuscript written in Chagatai Turkic, deals only with the meeting on Mount Ṭūr and tries to contribute to the construction of the mature Muslim individual through this meeting. The date of writing of the section Rāżınāme-i Ḥażret-i Mūsā ʿAleyhiʿ al-ṣalām on pages 306b-315a of a 322-volume treatise is uncertain. Nevertheless, at the end of Ḳābus-nāme, the first work of the related treatise, the date 1235 (1819-1820) appears. On the first page of the work, which was taken from G. Jarring's collection without any information about the author or the autographer, G. Raquettte Kaschgar, Turkestan is written in Latin alphabet in the form of a seal. The translation of the manuscript, which is a post-classical work on Chagatai Turkic, fills a significant research gap by identifying the phonetic and morphological elements of this historical Turkic dialect. The aim of this study was to synthesize ZIF-67 nanostructures under different conditions to develop its application potential in the food field. Surface morphologies (FE-SEM, polarized light microscopy), surface areas (BET), chemical structures (FTIR) and crystallinity (XRD) of the synthesized materials were investigated. The use of TEA and increasing the concentration of 2-mIM with cobalt nitrate during the synthesis caused the distortion of the dodecahedron structure of ZIF- 67s. The results showed that the size of the ZIF-67 nanostructures increased when the amount of methanol was reduced. The synthesized ZIF-67 nanostructures with dodecahedron-shaped morphology showed relatively high nitrogen sorption, BET surface area and characteristic C-H and C=N stretching peak. The ZIF-67 loaded nanofibers are believed to hold promise for various food applications such as adsorption of food contaminants, development of food packaging systems, gas storage and biosensors. MORPHOLOGY , *HISTOLOGY , *LAKES - Abstract
Van fish is an anadromic fish in the family Cyprinidae, endemic to the Lake Van basin. Fish feeding and care enters the streams flowing into the lake from Lake Van in April-July. In these aquatic environments, differences are observed in the feeding behavior of the fish. In this study, the digestive tract of 30 Van fish sampled from Lake Van and Karasu Stream between April and July were examined morphometrically and histologically. When the digestive tract of the Van fish was examined, it was observed that there was no obvious stomach structure. It was determined that the digestive tract consists of the esophagus, stomachlike structure that serves as the stomach, anterior intestine, posterior intestine and anus. When the digestive tract of Van fish is examined, it consists of the outermost serous layer, the muscularis layer, the submucosa layer and the innermost mucosa layer consisting of folds towards the lumen. It was determined that these layer thicknesses varied between fish sampled from lakes and streams. Diameter, mucosal width, mucosal length, mucosal folds, muscularis thickness, submucosa thickness and length were measured morphometrically. It was determined that these values were higher in the fish sampled from the lake compared to the fish sampled from the rivers. Measurements in the digestive tract of van fish were determined for the first time in this study. These measured values are thought to be related to the nutrition, stress and physicochemical structure of the water. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

POLLEN , *MORPHOLOGY - Abstract
The first detailed research on the pollen morphology of the Picris L. genus in Turkey was carried out in this study. Light (LM) and electron microscopy (SEM) studied five species of the genus Picris L. The pollen morphology of the genus is radial symmetrical, monad and isopolar in light microscopy examinations. Pollens are in prolate sferoidal shape, and amb is inter-hexagonal- subtriangular. Ornamentation is echinulophate. In the examinations made in electron microscope micrographs, ornamentation is echinulophate-microperforate, and tectum surface ornamentation is reticulate in paraboral lacunae in Picris cyprica Lack. and Picris strigosa Bieb. species. In the pollen of Picris altissima Delile. species and Picris kotschyi Boiss. collected from two different localities, the tectum surface ornamentation in the paraboral lacunae was observed as microperforate. The ornamentation observed on the tectum surface in abporal lacunae is psilate in all pollens. Spinule lengths in pollen are longer than spinule base widths. The ends of the spines terminate obtus-acutely. Pollen has 15 lacunae, 3 poral, 6 abporal, 6 paraboral. In the electron micrographs of the pollen, it was clearly observed that there was precipitation in the polar regions. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The word renk (colour), which derives from the Persian word reng, expresses the quality and variety of something. Color names do not only express colors, but also plant names, animal names, place names, person names, disease names etc. are formed with these words. Sometimes the same color name can meet both a color and another concept. Many studies have been carried out on the Tarama Sözlüğü, which includes Turkish words in the works written in Turkey Turkish between the XIII.-XIXth centuries. In this study, color names and words that mean color are discussed in the Tarama Sözlüğü. Words were examined in terms of morphology and semantics. In the part where the words were examined in terms of morphology, the words were classified according to the suffixes, and examples were given for each word from the sentences in the Tarama Sözlüğü. Turkish grammar books about the formation of words were used, and the information given by the researchers about the suffixes was given. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Türkiye is in the homeland of the sweet cherries, and especially the northeastern Anatolia region is very rich in terms of wild sweet cherry genotypes. There are numerous wild sweet cherry trees with different morphological characteristics in the region and contribute significantly to biological diversity. In this study, a total of 12 wild sweet cherry genotypes found in the Bağbaşı district of Erzurum province in Northeastern Türkiye were investigated in terms of some important fruit and tree characteristics. In morphological characterization, trees and fruits of the 12 genotypes were used for tree (tree vigor, tree habit, branching habit), fruit (taste, fruit skin color, fruit weight, soluble solid content, vitamin C, total phenolic, total flavonoid, total anthocyanin content), and antioxidant capacity (2,2-diphenyl-1-picryl-hydrazyl-hydrate and ferric reducing antioxidant powerassays). Results indicated high differences among genotypes for most of the tree, fruit, and antioxidant characteristics. In general, genotypes had medium tree vigor and semi-upright growth habit. Blackish, dark red, red, light red, and yellow fruit skin color are evident. The genotypes showed fruit weight between 1.19 and 2.06 g, soluble solid content between 19.23% and 22.10%, and total phenolic content between 135 and 249 mg gallic acid equivalent/100 g fresh weight base. Total anthocyanin and vitamin C content were found between 3.10 and 113.81 mg/100 g and 15.86 and 20.67 mg/100 g fresh weight base. Results showed that wild sweet cherry genotypes evaluated in this study have shown to be potential sources of bioactive compounds. Fruits have the potential to be explored in the scientific and technological scope, due to their high amounts of phenolic compounds and antioxidant activity.

Objective: The Balkan terrapin, Mauremys rivulata, is a freshwater turtle. This reptile is exposed to many environmental pollutants and some infectious agents, including Haemogregarina stepanowi parasite. This study was conducted to determine the microscopic prevalence of haemogregarine infection in M. rivulata caught in three different localities (Bozcaada, Gökçeada, and Dardanos) in Çanakkale province of Turkey, and assessment of some risk factors. Methods: Twenty-four blood samples were collected, thin blood smears were prepared, and the presence of haemogregarine parasites microscopically was screened. Water samples were also taken from the habitats, and these samples were analyzed physiochemically and microbiologically. Results: Morphological identification was made by detecting the sausage-shaped intra-cytoplasmic developmental stages of H. stepanowi, and thirteen of twenty-four turtles (54.2%) were found to be infected. The prevalence of H. stepanowi was detected as the highest (90.0%) in the Gökçeada district, where the water pollution is higher than in the other localities. A statistically significant relationship was observed between the distribution of the infection and the gender of the turtles, the temperature of the water, the number of faecal coliforms in water and the amount of dissolved oxygen in the water. A statistically significant difference was found between the localities in terms of the prevalence of H. stepanowi infection, and the infection was primarily detected in the Gökçeada district. Conclusion: This study has significance in providing information regarding haemoparasitic diseases of freshwater turtle, M. rivulata, in Turkey.

MASSETER muscle , *ANATOMY , *EMBRYOLOGY , *MORPHOLOGY - Abstract
The main function of the masseter muscle, which is a thick quadrangular muscle, is to close the jaw by elevating the mandible against the maxilla, performing the biting and chewing functions of the teeth. The masseter muscle, which is involved in lateral movements and mandibular protraction, is one of the four chewing muscles that is important in facial aesthetics. In the article published by Mezey et al. in December 2021, it was reported that anatomically, a deep, distinct third layer of the masseter muscle extends from the medial surface of the os temporale processus zygomaticus to the posterior edge and root of the processus coronoideus. It has been suggested that this structure, called masseter pars coronoidea, is a third and new part of the masseter muscle. While this study was found very interesting in the scientific world, it also brought up some question marks and led to different reactions. In this study, it was aimed to review the anatomical structure and embryological development of the masseter muscle from past to present in the light of current information and to discuss all aspects of the debate about the masseter muscle, which was presented to the scientific world as a new definition. Objectives:To evaluate the effects of intracameral drugs and dyes on rat corneal endothelial apoptosis and cell morphology.Materials and Methods:The right eyes of 72 rats were injected intracamerally with 1% lidocaine, 0.01% adrenaline, triamcinolone acetonide (TA) 4 mg/mL, 1% trypan blue (TB), 0.5% indocyanine green (ICG), and fortified balanced salt solution as control. Corneal samples were taken 1 day and 1 week post-injection. Corneal endothelial apoptosis was assessed by the TUNEL technique, and the ratio of apoptotic cells in each group was compared with the control. Corneal endothelial cell morphology was evaluated in each specimen by transmission electron microscopy. Results:The mean apoptotic endothelial cell ratio was significantly higher at 1 day and 1 week after intracameral adrenaline injection when compared to controls (p=0.03 and 0.021, respectively). TB caused a significantly higher apoptotic cell ratio when compared to controls at 1 week after injection (p=0.043). Lidocaine caused a higher apoptotic cell ratio compared to TA and ICG at 1 week, although not statistically significant (p=0.058, 0.09, 0.69, respectively). In all experimental specimens, transmission electron microscopy showed morphological changes associated with apoptosis. Conclusion:This study showed that intracameral adrenaline, TB, and lidocaine injections may have toxic effects on corneal tissue, as indicated by ultrastructural and histopathological alterations. Therefore, these agents should be used with caution in intraocular surgery.

The Turkic dialects in Siberia separated from the rest of Turkic at an earlier date. This is the reason why these dialects differ from other Turkic dialects in terms of phonetics, morphology and semantics. The Siberian Turkic dialects are divided into two: Southern and Northern. Sakha Turkic, which is used as a written language, is classified as Northern Siberian dialect and as border dialect. Khakas, Tuva and Altaic constitute the Southern Siberian dialects. Although these dialects show some differences among themselves, it can be said that there are many morphological similarities. In Common Turkic the suffix +sIz is used to derive a negative adjective of a noun. This suffix is used except Northeastern Turkic in all dialects with minimal sound differences to show non-existence. Such a suffix doesn’t exist in Northeastern Turkic. Instead, there are several structures, which have the same function. This characteristic of Northeastern Turkic is one of the elements that distinguish the Northeastern group from other Turkic dialects. Furthermore, this feature is an important classification criterion. In the context of this study, the structures, which are used in the Northeastern Turkic instead of the suffix +sIz will be identified, examined and classified with the half of dictionaries and grammars.

Kırşehir is in the first rank in Türkiye in terms of cultivation area and production of chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.). Although many abiotic and biotic factors are known to limit production and quality in chickpea plant, one of the most important biotic factors is Ascochyta blight (caused by: Ascochyta rabiei (Pass) Labr.). Product losses of up to 100% occur during production seasons when conditions are suitable for epidemics. In order to prevent these losses, fungicide applications are made intensively to prevent disease of Ascochyta blight. It is important to determine the incidence and prevalence of Ascochyta blight in the field in deciding on which chemicals are needed to be used. This study was conducted in Akçakent, Akpınar, Boztepe, Çiçekdağı, Kaman, Merkez, Mucur districts to determine the incidence and prevalence of Ascochyta blight in the chickpea fields of Kırşehir province in 2021. In the survey study, 8.425 da production areas located at 57 different points were examined. In the survey study, 12.600 plants were examined and only 51 infected plants were determined. The presence of factor was confirmed by considering the colony morphology of the isolates obtained as a result of the isolations made from the collected samples and the characteristics of conidia. The presence of factor was confirmed by considering the colony morphology of the collected samples and the characteristics of conidia. In addition, the prevalence (%) and Ascochyta blight rate (%) in the surveyed chickpea cultivation areas were, also, calculated. Results showed that, the location-wide Ascochyta blight prevalence rate was as 29.8% and Ascochyta blight rate was 0.40%. To conclude, although Ascochyta blight was observed at varying levels in Kırşehir chickpea production areas, the incidence and prevalence of Ascochyta blight in the 2021 production season were limited number, more likely, due to the climate conditions in 2021. Rice (Oryza sativa L.) ,Drought stress ,Morphology ,Physiology ,Dry matter partitioning ,Agriculture ,Agriculture (General) ,S1-972 - Abstract
Drought is one of the most prevalent forms of abiotic environmental stress that reduce crop productivity. A pot experiment was performed in two Aman seasons under drought (40% field capacity, FC) and control (100% field capacity, FC) irrigations to study drought tolerance mechanism(s) based on morphological and physiological traits in six aromatic rice genotypes. Twelve treatments (6 genotypes × 2 irrigations) were arranged in Complete Randomized Design and experiment was carried out at Bangladesh Institute of Nuclear Agriculture, Bangladesh Agricultural University, Mymensingh. In the experiment, drought was imposed at panicle initiation stage where morphological and physiological data were recorded. Important morphological (stem and root dry weight) and physiological (photosynthesis and chlorophyl content) attributes were significantly (P>0.05) decreased at 40% FC in both the years. Compared to control, relative reduction at 40% FC in above parameters, genotypes were classified into tolerant (Binadhan-13 and NERICA mutant) and sensitive (RM-100-16, Ukunimodhu, Kalizira, and BRRI dhan34) categories. Tolerant genotypes had smaller reduction in shoot and root dry mater (av. 7.73 and 5.56 %, respectively) than sensitive ones (av. 19.32 and 21.80%, respectively). Low reduction percentages of the traits under drought stress to that of the control discriminated Binadhan-13 and NERICA mutant genotypes consistently as drought tolerant.

Serik district of Antalya province is in the central part of Antalya, approximately 30 km from the city center. It is a touristic town with a coastline of 22 kilometers to the east. Due to the geographical structure of the district, it has started to lose its unique socio-cultural texture due to immigration from inside and outside. Reasons such as mass media entering every house, ease of transportation, increasing popularity of tourism day by day, and increasing literacy rates prevent the compilation of the dialect characteristics of the district in a healthy way. Due to such reasons, Serik dialect, like other Turkey Turkish dialects, is under the influence of Standard Turkey Turkish and loses its unique phonetic and morphological features. As it is known, these live dialects, which are extremely important in revealing the richness of the vocabulary of Standard Turkey Turkish and especially in following the development and change of the language closely, should be compiled and recorded as soon as possible before they are lost. In this study, firstly, information about the geographical and ethnic structure of Serik district of Antalya province is given. Afterwards, all of the villages/neighborhoods of the district were reached, and text and word compilations were made on certain subjects from the source people who were thought to reflect the dialect characteristics best. In the light of the data obtained from these compilations, the phonetic and morphological features of the region, which differ from the Standard Turkey Turkish, are listed as items. In addition, compilations were made from Tahtacı Turkmen and Cretan immigrants, who had an important place in Serik, and the data obtained from them were given under separate article titles.
