3. Use of Technology in Social Studies Teachıng: The Journey of Five Teachers

This study aims to examine the effect of personal experiences of Social Studies teachers on using technology in the teaching process. The study was carried out with narrative research that is one of the qualitative research models. A purposeful sampling method was used in determining the study group. Five Social Studies teachers were included in the study. The research data were collected with a semi-structured interview form. Three sessions of interviews were conducted to collect research data. In the data analysis, narrative analysis was used to form the participants’ stories, and thematic analysis was used to present the findings from the participant stories systematically. The findings revealed that Social Studies teachers have limited technological opportunities in their learning process; they could not access sufficient equipment during their undergraduate education. Still, despite these limited opportunities, they can develop their technology use skills in line with their interests and curiosities after starting their professional life. Besides, Social Studies teachers with more years of professional experience are willing to realise and eliminate their shortcomings, and cooperate. Thus they use instructional technologies effectively.

This study was aimed at determining the situation of material development of Imam Hatip School vocational courses teachers. The research is a survey model. According to this research results was made in Kayseri sample, Majority of the participant teachers suffer from inappropriate materials to the students and topics at their lessons. Most of teachers come to schools with making preparation. Participant teachers continue using current teaching materials and also try to prepare their own materials. Introduction and Purpose of the Study The Religious educational process has four basic variables. These are students, teachers, programs and the environment. The most important of these variables are the teachers. The teachers must/should plan, apply and evaluate the educational process. They should use teaching methods and tools in this process.With the development of technological possibilities, the number of teaching materials that can be used in religious education has increased. Educational materials can make lessons more fun and educational, and it can offer to students a rich learning experience. For this reason, effective use of materials by the religious teachers can contribute to the reduction of problems such as indifference, reluctance and boredom in religious education. The main purpose of this research was to determine the situation of material development by the Imam Hatip School vocational courses teachers. In this context, some questions asked are; 1. Are they having trouble finding instructionalmaterials? What are these troubles? 2. How much did they develop educational materials in the process of Religious education? 3. How did they get them? 4. What kind of materials did they develop most? 5. What are they paying attention to when developing them? 6. What kind of problems they have experienced in this process? And similar questions are asked and answered Method The research is a survey model that describes the current situation. In the study datas were gathered by questionnaire on 82 Imam Hatip School vocational courses teachers in Kayseri province. 21 IBM SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Sciences) software program was used to test hypotheses generated for the purposes of research. Quantitative analyses methods (means, percentages), were used in analyzing the data. 56 % of the participants are men and 44 % are women. % 45 of them working at imam hatip high school, % 39 are imam hatip midle school, % 16 are both of them. Results and Discussion According to this research results, the participant teachers say they are having trouble finding instructionalmaterials. Some of the teachers have said that they have not prepared their materials because of the inadequacy of the class hours. Nevertheless, they do not see themselves inadequate in material development, and the proportion of teachers who prepare their own materials has been expected to be low.They generally prefer to use ready-made materials.They provide materials from their colleagues and internet sites. The worksheet, the concept map, the slide are the materials that they get the most from the internet. The materials they do not prepare are short films, puzzles and slides. The proportion of teachers who prepare material for their students is also very low.Most of the materials that prepared by their students 13 % model-real goods and 11% worksheets). When the teachers preparing materials for religious instruction, they were paying attention to the content compliance most. To be suitable for students' features and grade follow them. A little number of teachers say that they are developing materials according to the teaching aims and functions. It is concluded that imam hatip secondary school teachers are more sensitive about developing materials than İmam Hatip High School Teachers. Additionally, female teachers are developing these materials more often than the male teachers. At the end of this survey, it was discovered, despite the fact that the teachers were having trouble finding instructionalmaterialsthey did not develop their Instructional materials.Because, a large group of teachers, 82.5%, saw themselves as lacking in teaching technology and material development. Also, according to this data and researches done in the past years. Religious Education Teachers are developing their materials have increased but some teachers (who are working at İmam hatip high schools) don't know functions of materials and they don't develop them in their lessons. Suggestions The issue can be focused especially on teachers Imam Hatip High School lessons. These suggestions can be expressed in the light of these results. The Ministry of National Education, The General Directorate of Religious Education can work on this subject. Information and materials banks can be created in virtual environment where the institutions for the imam hatip school's courses, also material samples. It is possible to increase the number of sharing sites where materials related to the field of Religious Education, especially Imam Hatip High School lessons are collected. And they can be give information about Instructional Technology and Material Development course for Imam Hatip Schools teachers. Further research can be done in this subject. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

İnsanoğluyla süregelen teknoloji devriminin, her anlamda yaşamımıza bağlanması ve eğitimin de bundan payını alması birçok alana konu olmuştur. Bu çalışmada, sanat eğitimi ile ilgili çoklu ortam konu bağlamında kaleme alınmış lisansüstü tez çalışmalarının, sanat eğitimine dair eğilimlerini çeşitli açılardan ortaya koymak, aynı paralellikte ortaya konulan çoklu ortam kullanımının literatür içerikleriyle birlikte derlenip eğitim sahası üzerindeki yerinin açıklanması amaçlanmıştır. Bu amaç doğrultusunda Lisansüstü Eğitim Enstitüsü Güzel Sanatlar Eğitimi alanında 2000- 2019 yılları arasında çalışılmış 57 araştırma tezi saptanmıştır. Saptanan araştırma tezleri kapsamında araştırmanın evrenini; Türkiye'deki Lisansüstü Eğitim Enstitüsü Güzel Sanatlar Eğitimi alanında çalışılmış lisansüstü tez araştırmaları oluşturmaktadır. Araştırma tezlerinden 16 doktora, 7 sanatta yeterlik ve 31 yüksek lisans araştırma tezi olmak üzere toplam 54 lisansüstü araştırma tezinin içeriğine tam metin olarak ulaşılmıştır. Lisansüstü araştırma tezlerinden; 1 doktora ve 2 yüksek lisans araştırma tezine ise yayımlanmaları kısıtlı olduğundan sınırlı erişim sağlanmış olup; içeriğine tam metin olarak ulaşılan 54 araştırma tezi ve sınırlı erişimi olan 3 araştırma tezi ile beraber veri toplama aracı olarak araştırmacılar tarafından geliştirilen "Makale Sınıflama Formu"ndan uyarlanan "Tez Sınıflama Formu" kullanılıp betimsel içerik analizine tabii tutulmuştur. Verilerin analizi alt problemler kapsamında nicel veri analiz yöntemlerinden olan grafik, yüzde ve frekans tabloları ile çözümlenmiştir. Analiz sonuçlarından elde edilen bulgulara göre; Türkiye'de yer alan lisansüstü çalışmaların ilgili konu bağlamında yüksek lisans araştırma tezlerine daha fazla yer verildiği, araştırmalarda en fazla ele alınan konuların başında uygulama örneklerinin yer aldığı, yöntem bakımından nicel araştırma yöntemlerinin ağırlıklı olarak kullanıldığı, veri toplama araçlarından en fazla anket çalışmalarına başvurulduğu, örneklem türünün sıklıkla ilköğretim (5-8) olduğu ve örneklem büyüklüğünün 31-100 arasında yoğunlaştığı sonucuna ulaşılmış ve önerilerde bulunulmuştur. The technology revolution which has been going on with humankind, in every sense the fact that is into in our lives and education to take its share of has been subjected to many fields. In this study, it is aimed to reveal their tendencies of the postgraduate thesis written in the context of multimedia concept related to art education from various perspective, to explain the place of utilization multimedia, which is revealed in the same parallel with the literature contents and to explain its place on the educational field. In accordance with this purpose, 57 research theses which was studied in the field of Fine Arts Education at the Graduate Education Institute between 2000-2019 years were determined. As part of the scope of the determined research theses, the population of this research was composed postgrade thesis which was studied in the field of Fine Arts Education, Graduate Education Institute in Turkey. From research these, 16 doctoral thesis, 7 proficiency in art and 31 master thesis (in total 54 postgraduate thesis research) reached as full text; nevertheless from the postgraduate thesis research 1 Doctora these and 2 postgraduate research thesis, limited access was provided due to their restrict is publications. The content of which is reached as full text 54 research thesis and have limited access in with 3 research thesis as data collection tool, is subjected to the thesis classification form adapted from to the article classification form developed by the researchers were using document analysis within the frame descriptive content analysis. These resources were statistically analysed in the scope of sub-problems with graphic frequency tables and percentage which are among the quantitative data analysis methods. According to the findings obtained from the research; in Turkey graduate studies that included more in the graduate topic context related to the graduate research of thesis where the sample maximum application of the issues discussed, mainly the use of quantitative research methods in terms of methodology, data collection tools from that applied to most surveys, sample species often. It was concluded that primary education is mostly 5-8 and the sample size is concentrated between 31-100 and suggestions have been made.

Technological tools that are among the essential tools for today's information age are also becoming indispensable in the field of education. The usage of these tools in education environments effectively and beneficially provides increase of quality. The most important responsibility in this matter is on the shoulders of teachers. The aim of this study was to determined determine Turkish teacher candidates' self-confidence about use of instructional technologies. Survey model was used in this study. Study population consisted of Students of Turkish Language Teaching in Karadeniz Technical University, Fatih Faculty of Education (2011- 2012 academic years). The sample of study consisted of 112 senior students of this department (Female= 55.4%, Male= 44.6%).In this study, 5 point likert type Technology Attitude Scale was used as data collection tool. Data were analyzed by using the arithmetic mean and t-test techniques inentering SPSS 16.0 package program. As a result of the study Turkish teacher candidates' self-confidence about using instructional technologies was found adequate level. Bu çalışmada, ilköğretim matematik öğretmenlerinin öğretim teknolojisine bakış açıları, öğretimteknolojilerini kullanabilirlikleri ve öğretim teknolojisinin faydaları incelenmiştir. Veri toplama aracıolarak yarı yapılandırılmış mülakat formu kullanılmıştır. Veriler 2018-2019 eğitim-öğretim yılındaDoğu Anadolu bölgesinde yer alan bir il merkezi ilköğretim okullarında görev yapmakta olan 24ilköğretim matematik öğretmeninden elde edilmiştir. Yapılan analiz sonrası; verilen hizmet içi eğitimkurslarının, öğretmenlerin kendi imkânları doğrultusunda edindikleri bilgilerin, internet erişimli akıllıtahta kullanımının, geogebra gibi çeşitli yazılımların faydalı olduğu görülmektedir. Ayrıca öğretmenlerin büyük bir kısmı, kullanılan öğretim teknolojilerinin matematik dersine yönelik kavramyanılgılarını ortadan kaldırabileceğini ifade etmiştir. Bununla birlikte birçok matematik öğretmenikullanılan teknolojilerin dersin işlenişinde ve müfredat ile paralel olarak konuların yetiştirilmesindebüyük kolaylık sağladığını belirtmiştir. Ayrıca birçok öğretmenin Geogebra yazılım programı ve akıllıtahtanın yanı sıra farklı yazılımlarda da eğitim almak istediği tespit edilmiştir. Buna karşın öğretimteknolojilerine yönelik herhangi bir eğitim almamış öğretmenlerin teknoloji kullanmada güçlük yaşadığıve kendilerini yeterli düzeyde hissetmedikleri, aynı okulda 4 yıl üzeri görev yapan öğretmenlerin degeleneksel yöntemlerden vazgeçmekte zorlandığı görülmüştür. In this study, elementary school mathematics teachers' perspectives on instructional technology, their use of instructional technologies and the benefits of instructional technology were examined. A semistructured interview form was used as a data colletion tool. The data were obtained from 24 mathematics teachers working in central elementary schools in a province in Eastern Anatolia at 2018-2019 academic year. After the analysis; it is seen that the in-service training courses provided, the information acquired by the teachers according to their own means, the use of smart board with internet access, geogebra and various software are beneficial. In addition, most of the teachers stated that the usage of instructional technologies could eliminate misconceptions about mathematics lesson. Also, many mathematics teachers expressed that the technologies used in mathematics teaching provide great convenience in parallel with the curriculum in the course. On the other hand, it was seen that teachers who did not receive any training in instructional technologies had difficulty in using technology and did not feel themselves sufficiently. Furthermore, it was determined that the teachers want to get education in different software besides geogebra software program and smart board. On the other hand, it was observed that teachers who did not have sufficient education on instructional technologies had difficulties in using technology and did not feel efficient themselves, and teachers who worked in the same school for more than 4 years had difficulty in giving up traditional methods.

DergiPark: 657608 tred Bu çalışmada kimya öğretiminde öğretim teknolojilerinin kullanımı ele alınmış olup kimya öğretmenlerinin bu teknolojileri derslerinde kullanımlarına yönelik görüşlerinin belirlenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Bu amaç doğrultusunda Ağrı il merkezinde ve Patnos ilçesinde görev yapan 15 kimya öğretmeni ile yarı yapılandırılmış görüşmeler yapılarak nitel çalışma gerçekleştirilmiştir. Görüşmelerden elde edilen verilerin değerlendirilmesinde içerik analizi yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Elde edilen sonuçlara göre kimya öğretmenlerinin çoğunluğu çalıştıkları okulların teknolojik donanımlarının yetersiz olduğunu ve teknolojik cihazların bakımlarının yapılmadığı için onlardan yeterli düzeyde faydalanamadıklarını belirtmişlerdir. Çalışmaya katılan öğretmenler genel olarak akıllı tahta kullandıklarını ve akıllı tahta sayesinde öğrenimin daha kalıcı olduğunu ve öğrenci başarısının arttığını ifade etmişlerdir. Öğretmenlerin büyük bir kısmı teknoloji kullanımı yönünden kendisini yetersiz görmekte ve kendilerini teknoloji kullanımı yönünden geliştirebilmeleri için özellikle hizmet içi eğitimlere ihtiyaçlarının olduğunu düşünmektedirler. Ayrıca, öğretmenler genel olarak müfredatın kendilerini teknoloji kullanımına yönlendiremediğini ve öğretim teknolojilerine ayrılan bütçelerin ise yetersiz olduğunu ifade etmişlerdir. In this study, the use of instructional technologies in chemistry education is discussed and it is aimed to determine the experiences of chemistry teachers on the use of these technologies in their courses. For this purpose, semi-structured interviews were conducted with 15 chemistry teachers working in the city of Agri and in the district of Patnos. Data gathered from the interviews were analyzed through content analysis method. According to the results, the majority of the chemistry teachers stated that the technological equipment of the schools they work were insufficient and that they could not benefit from the technological equipment due to the lack of maintenance of them. The teachers who participated in the study also stated that they generally use smart board and learning is more permanent and student achievement is increased thanks to the smart board. Most of the teachers consider themselves insufficient to employ technology in their classes and think that they especially need in-service training in order to be competent in technology use. In addition, teachers stated that the curriculum did not direct themselves to the use of technology and the budgets allocated to instructional technologies were insufficient.

Bu çalışma, öğretmen adaylarının eğitim fakültesindeki hizmet kalitesine yönelik memnuniyet düzeylerini betimselolarak incelemeyi amaçlamaktadır. Tarama modelinde gerçekleştirilen bu çalışmanın örneklemi, 2016-2017 eğitimöğretim yılında Mersin Üniversitesi Eğitim Fakültesi’nin farklı bölümlerinde okuyan 674 adet öğretmen adayındanoluşmaktadır. Yapılan analizler sonucunda elde edilen bulgulara göre, öğretmen adaylarının eğitim fakültesindekihizmet kalitesine yönelik memnuniyet düzeylerinin orta seviyede olduğu görülmüştür. Bununla birlikte, kadın veerkek öğretmen adaylarının memnuniyet düzeyleri arasında erkek öğretmen adayları lehine istatistiksel olarak anlamlıfarklılıklar tespit edilmiştir. Ayrıca eğitim fakültesinin hizmet kalitesinden en çok memnun olan öğretmen adayları,Bilgisayar ve Öğretim Teknolojileri Eğitimi (BÖTE) ve Türkçe Öğretimi bölümlerindenken, en az memnun olanlarıise Okul Öncesi ve Sınıf Öğretmenliği bölümlerindendir., This study aims to investigate the pre-service teachers’ levels of satisfaction with the service quality in the educationfaculty. This study was carried out in the survey model. Determined by using the convenience sampling method, thesample consisted of 674 pre-service teachers studying in different departments in the Education Faculty of MersinUniversity in the academic year of 2016-2017. According to the results, it was found that pre-service teachers’ levelsof satisfaction with the service quality in the education faculty were at an intermediate level. The results indicatedthat there were statistically significant differences between female and male pre-service teachers’ satisfaction levels.The most satisfied pre-service teachers were from the departments of Computer Education and InstructionalTechnology (CEIT) and Turkish Language Teaching whereas the least satisfied were from the departments ofPreschool and Primary School Teaching.

İçinde bulunduğumuz ve adına bilgi çağı dediğimiz 21. yüzyılda küresel boyutta teknolojide meydana gelen değişmeler, yaşamın her alanını olduğu gibi eğitim kurumlarının yapı ve işleyişini de etkilemektedir. Öğretim sürecinde kullanılan teknolojiler ve materyaller öğre¬nimin tam olarak gerçekleştirilmesinde yardımcı araç olurken, her geçen gün teknolojide meydana gelen yeni gelişmeleri izleyebilmek ve bunları günlük yaşamın gereği içerisinde doğru şekilde kullanabilmek kazanılması gereken bir beceridir. Bu becerilerin öğrencilere kazandırılabilmesi için öğretim sürecinde görev alan öğretmenlerin bu becerilere sahip olması gerekmektedir. Bu araştırmada fen ve teknoloji öğretmenlerinin teknoloji alanındaki yeterlilik düzeylerinin belirlenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Çalışmada, fen ve teknoloji öğretmenlerinin teknoloji yeterlilik düzeylerinin cinsiyete, yaşa, kıdeme, eğitim durumlarına, öğretmenlerin teknoloji kullanımı ile ilgili eğitim alma durumuna ve görev yaptıkları okulların yerleşim yerine göre farklılaşma durumları araştırılmıştır. Araştırmada, betimsel araştırma yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Araştırma, 2009?2010 öğretim yılında Hatay ilinde çalışmakta olan 237 fen ve teknoloji öğretmeninin üzerinde gerçekleştirilmiştir. Fen ve teknoloji öğretmenlerinin teknoloji yeterlilik düzeyinin belirlenmesi için Çoklar'ın geliştirdiği ?Öğretmen Adaylarının Eğitim Teknolojisi Standartları Öz Yeterlilikleri? isimli ölçek kullanılmıştır. Çoklar tarafından ölçeğin iç tutarlılığını incelemek ve güvenirlik kanıtını ortaya koyabilmek için Cronbach Alpha iç tutarlılık katsayısı hesaplanmıştır. Ölçeğin Cronbach Alpha iç tutarlılık katsayısı 0.98 olarak bulunmuştur. Araştırmada elde edilen nicel verilerin analizinde yüzde, aritmetik ortalama, standart sapma değerleri hesaplanmış ayrıca araştırmanın alt amaçlarına yönelik olarak t-testi ve varyans analizi kullanılmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda elde edilen bulgulara göre, fen ve teknoloji öğretmenlerinin teknoloji yeterlilik düzeyleri, öğretmenlerin cinsiyetlerine, yaşlarına, eğitim düzeylerine ve görev yapılan okulun yerleşim yerine göre istatistiksel olarak anlamlı düzeyde farklılık göstermezken; öğretmenlerin hizmet sürelerine ve teknoloji kullanımı ile ilgili eğitim alma durumlarına göre anlamlı derecede farklılaşmaktadır. Technological advancements at global scale in the 21st century in which we live and which we call information era affect the structure and processing of educational institutions just as it does in every domains of life. While technologies and materials used in instruction process are supplementary tools for training to be realized completely, teachers are to acquire skills to keep up with ever developing technology and to use them accurately in daily life. For these skills to be acquired by teachers, teachers who take over duties in instruction process are to have these skills.In this study, the aim is to determine science and technology teachers? level of competence in technology. The study sought to find out whether technological competency level of science and technology teachers? varied according to gender, age, length of service, education level and whether they have received technology use training and the location of the school they work.In the study descriptive research paradigm was used. The study was conducted on 237 science and technology teachers working in Hatay in 2009 and 2010 education year. To determine technology competence levels of science and technology teachers, ?Teacher Candidates Self-Efficacy about Instructional Technology Standards? developed by Çoklar was used. The Cronbach Alpha internal consistency coefficient was calculated by Çoklar to find out internal consistency and put forward validity evidence. The Cronbach Alpha internal validity coefficient was found to be 0.98. In the analysis of quantitative data obtained in the study percentage, arithmetic mean, standard deviation values were calculated and in addition t-test and variance analysis was used for sub-aims of the study.According to the results obtained, while technological competence level of science and technology teachers do not vary according to teachers? gender age, education level and the location of the school they work, there are significant difference in terms of teachers? length of service and whether they received training on technology use. 141

Toplumun ihtiyaç duyduğu insan gücünü yetiştirecek olan öğretmenlerin, çağdaş öğretmen standartlarına göre yetiştirilmiş olması gerekmektedir. Toplumun ihtiyaçlarının gelişen bilim ve teknolojiye bağlı olarak değişmesi, öğretmenleri bu değişime ayak uydurmada zorunlu hale getirmiştir. Bu araştırmada, Psikolojik Danışmanlık ve Rehberlik hizmetlerine yönelikbir eğitim yazılımı geliştirilerek, öğrenci görüşleri doğrultusundadeğerlendirilmiştir. Geliştirilen yazılım, Öğrenci Seçme Sınavına hazırlanan liseson sınıf öğrencilerine yönelik Motivasyon konusu hakkında bilgi vermeyiamaçlamakta ve motivasyonu geliştirmek için taktikler vermektedir. Ayrıcamotivasyonun temel taşlarından biri olan özgüven konusuna açıklık getirmekteve öğrencilere özgüven geliştirme taktikleri sunmaktadır.Yazılımın, genel, öğretimsel ve ekran tasarım özellikleri bakımındaneğitimsel bir nitelik taşıyıp taşımadığı belirlenmeye çalışılmıştır.Bu çalışma, iki ana aşamada gerçekleştirilmiştir: Birinci aşamada,Macromedia programları ile eğitim yazılımı geliştirilmiştir. İkinci aşamada ise,geliştirilen eğitim yazılımı, genel tarama modeli kullanılarak, üç ana başlıkaltında toplanmış 25 değerlendirme maddesinden oluşan bir anket uygulamasıile öğrencilerin görüşleri doğrultusunda değerlendirilmiştir. The developed software intends togive information about the topic ?Motivation? for the students of senior class inhigh schools who are preparing for the ÖSS (University Entrance Exam) andsupplies the students with the tactics to increase motivation. Furthermore, itclarifies the self-confidence issue which is one of the basics of motivation andpresents tactics of improving self-confidence.It is tried to be found out if the software carries an educational quality inthe aspects of general, instructional and screen design.This research is carried out in two phases: In the first phase, aninstructional software is developed by Macromedia softwares. In the secondphase, the developed educational software is evaluated by the use of a generalscanning model under the title of three main fields with consisting of twenty-fiveitem-evaluation-forms and according to the view points of the students.
