Pastoral counseling is provided by The Religious Affairs Presidency in Turkey, to assist individuals in coping with challenges, unique to various modern places and situations utilizing religious references, similar to the other examples around the world. In this study, convicts' experiences in pastoral counseling from Bursa H and E Type Penal Institutions are examined. The social capital of 18 inmates will be used as a lens to address these experiences. One of the qualitative study designs, phenomenology, has been chosen to expose the aforementioned framework. MAXQDA was used to code the data collected from one-on-one interviews, which were then submitted to content analysis. As a result, three major themes emerged. The first of them is the offenders' pre-prison social capital theme, which is divided into four categories: family, education, immigration, and past imprisonment. The second theme is social capital in prison, which is divided into seven categories: The decision to commit a crime, the adjustment process, everyday activities, contacts with the outside world, relationships with staff, labor branches, and training programs. The final theme in our research is pastoral counseling experience in the context of social capital, which is divided into three categories: functionality seeking, hoca discourse, and ward culture. Finally, it has been discovered that inmates generally experience prison services, particularly pastoral counseling, via the lens of profit-loss calculations based on social capital.
