This study was aimed to determine the effect of the nutrition course given to the students of the nursing and child development department on their knowledge and literacy levels about nutrition. This study was applied pretestposttest, quasi-experimental design. The sample of the study consisted of 109 second-year students (F: 76, M: 33) with a mean age of 20.06±1.50 years. Data were collected using the Nutrition Knowledge Level for Adults Scale (NKLAS), and the Instrument of Nutrition Literacy On Adults (EINLA). The nutritional knowledge mean scores in the pre-test of the nursing department students were 51.41±10.68 and in the post-test 58.45±9.83; for the child development department students, it was determined as 50.61±6.73 in the pre-test and 57.48±9.19 in the post-test (p<0.001). It was found that the nutritional preference knowledge average score of 34.71±6.78 in the pre-test in the nursing department increased to 37.81±6.13 in the post-test (p<0.001), while it was 33.48±7.46 in the pre-test and 35.89±7.81 in the post-test for the students of the child development department (p>0.05). The nursing department students' mean EINLA scores in the pre-test was 27.21±4.24 and in the post-test was 29.45±4.47; for the child development department students, it was determined as 26.51±4.34 in the pre-test and 28.20±3.99 in the post-test (p<0.001). There is a need for planned and sustainable nutrition-related education programs given by experts in the field for adequate and balanced nutrition of the society. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
