GİRİŞ:Yaşla birlikte göz boyut ve hacminde değişmeler olmaktadır. Bu çalışmada bulbusölçülerindeki değişikliğin, adolesan dönemde ve genç erişkin dönemlerindekiverilerin, önemli olup olmadığını araştırmayı amaçladık.YÖNTEM: Radyolojikliniği Görüntü Arşivleme ve İletişim Sistemi(PACS- Picture Archiving Communication Systems) üzerinden 07.11.2018 ile 15.11.2018tarihleri arasında Bilgisayarlı Tomografi (BT) görüntü kalitesi bulbus çapıölçümüne elverişli olan olgular değerlendirmeye alındı. Çalışma için üç grupoluşturuldu. Her yaş için 10 erkek ve 10 kadın olgunun BT görüntüleri üzerindenbulbus çapı oküler lens altından ölçüldü. Yine lens altından korneal kubbeye kadar olan uzaklık, yani yükseklikdeğerleri ölçüldü.BULGULAR:Çalışma kriterlerine uygun olan adolesandönemi için birinci grupta (15, 16 ve 17 yaş) 10 erkek ve 10 kadın olgu incelendi. Bulbus çapı ortalama değerleri 20,45mm ile 21,75 mm arasında değişmekte olduğu belirlendi. Yükseklik ortalama değerlerinin 6,64 mm ile 7,38 mmarasında olduğu tespit edildi. Genç erişkin (Grup 2: 25, 26 ve 27 yaş) dönemi için oluşturulan ikinci grupta bulbusçapı ortalama değerleri 23,28 mm ile 23,66 mm arasında, yükseklik ortalamadeğerlerinin ise 7,92 mm ile 8,5 mm arasında olduğu tespit edildi. Üçüncü grupta ise (35,36 ve 37yaş) bulbus çapı ortalama değerleri 23,36 mm ile 24,64 mm arasında, yükseklik ortalama değerlerinin ise 8,10 mm ile8,52 mm arasında değiştiği tespit edildi.SONUÇ Bu çalışmadaincelenen olgularda yaşla birlikte bulbus çapının ortalama değerlerinin arttığıtespit edilmiş olmakla birlikte bu artışın ardışık yaşlarda düzenli bir artışgöstermediği ve farkın istatistiksel olarak anlamlı olmadığı tespit edildi. Buçalışma daha sonradan yapmayı planladığımız postmortem oküler yama çalışmasınaesas olmak üzere ön çalışma olarak planlanmıştır., Inroduction:There are changes in eye size and volume withage. In this study, we aimed to investigate whether the changes in ocular globemeasurements are significant in adolescents and young adulthood.METHODS: ComputedTomography (CT) image qualitative bulb diameter measurements were evaluated,between 07.11.2018 and 15.11.2018 through PACS (Picture Archiving CommunicationSystems) system in Radiology clinic. Three groups were formed for the study.For each age, 10 male and 10 female cases were measured under an ophthalmiclens with bulb diameters on CT images. Moreover, the distance from the bottomof the lens to the corneal dome, the height values, was also measured.Results: 10 male and 10 female patients in the firstgroup (15, 16, and 17 years old) who met the study criteria were evaluated. Bulbusdiameter mean values ranged from 20,45 mm to 21,7 mm. The average height valueswere found to be between 6,64 mm and 7,38 mm. In the second group for the youngadults (25, 26 and 27 years), the mean diameter of the eyeball was foundbetween 23,28 mm and 23,66 mm, theaverage height values were found to be between 7,92 mm and 8,5 mm. In the thirdgroup (35,36 and 37 years), mean diameter of the eyeball was determined between23,36 mm and 24,64 mm, the average height values were found to be between 8,10mm and 8,52 mm..Conclusion In this study, it was determined thatthe mean values of bulb diameter increased with age. However, it was found thatthis increase did not show a regular increase in successive ages and thedifference was not statistically significant.Thisstudy was planned as a preliminary study to be based on postmortem ocular patchstudy which we planned to perform later.

Çalışmada 2006-2017 yılları arasında İstanbul Üniversitesi Veteriner Fakültesi Cerrahi Anabilim Dalı Kliniği’ne göz kapağında kitle şikayeti ile getirilen ve sağaltımları yapılan toplam 47 köpeğe ait göz kapağı tümörleri olguları retrospektif olarak değerlendirildi. Olguların ayrıntılı göz muayenesi yapıldı. Kitlelerin uzaklaştırılmasında V şeklinde eksizyon yeğlenerek, tümör tam katlı olarak bölgeden uzaklaştırıldı. Yapılan histopatolojik inceleme sonucu, meibomian bezlerden köken alan neoplazmaların çoğunlukta olduğu belirlendi. Çalışma sonunda elde edilen veriler ile göz kapağı tümörü oluşumunda ırk predispozisyonu, yaşın ve cinsiyetin etkisi ile en yaygın görülen göz kapağı tümörü belirlenip, kullanılan cerrahi yöntemin rekonstruktif blefaroplastiye gerek kalmadan, kitlelerin uzaklaştırılmasında yeterli olduğu görüldü. In this study, the eyelid tumors and the treatment results of 47 dogs referred to Istanbul University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Department of Surgery with a complaint of eyelid masses were evaluated retrospectively. Cases underwent detailed ophtalmic examination. A V-shaped excision was performed and the tumor was removed in full-thickness. Histopathological examination revealed that most of the neoplasms originating from the meibomian glands were observed. The most common eyelid tumors and formation of the eyelid tumors with respect to the race predisposition, and effects of age and sex were defined. The surgical method used were sufficient for removal of the masses without the necessity of a reconstructive blepharoplasty.

Ischemia-modifiedalbumin constitutes via a modifcation in albumin where reactive oxygen speciesare formed due to ischemia. Albumin is measured using the cobalt binding test,and this test is used for the determination of albumin prior to the developmentof permanent cardiac injuries. In this review, we investigated thepathophysiology, analysis and clinical utility of ischemia-modified albumin., İskemimodifiye albumin iskemi sonucu oluşan reaktif oksijen türevlerinin yol açtığıalbuminde modifikasyon ile oluşur. Albumin kobalt bağlama testi kullanılarakölçülür. Bu test geçici olmayan kardiyak hasarın başlangıcından önce iskemininerken saptanmasında kullanılır. Bu yazıda iskemi modifiye albumininpatofizyolojisi, analizi ve klinik uygulamalarını inceledik.

Pterjium, oküler yüzey bozukluğu olup kapak aralığına uyan bölgedebulber konjonktivanın fibro¬vasküler proliferasyonunun korneayı invaze etmesisonucu oluşan bir patolojidir. Pterjium, cerrahi sonrası nüksün yüksek oranlaraulaştığı bir hastalıktır. Günümüzde nüks oranlarını daha aşağılara çekmekamacıyla birçok yeni cerrahi teknik yanında büyümesini durdurmak içinantineoblastikler kullanılmaktadır. Çeşitli büyüme faktörleri ve mediatörlerinbazı neoplazmlar gibi pterjium büyümesi, invazyonu ve nüksünde etkili olduğubulunmuştur. Kök hücre faktörü ve VEGF gibi büyüme faktörlerinin yanında,histaminde, karbonik anhidraz aktivitesinde, eph B4 sayısında ve nestinsalınımında artış bulunurken, IGFBP3 salınımında ise azalma bulunmuştur.Pterjimun büyümesinin durdurulması ve nüksünün önlenmesi için halen çalışmalaryapılmaktadır. Pterjium is an ocular surface disorder and is a pathologic result ofcorneal invasion of the fibro-vascular proliferation of the bulb conjunctiva inthe region corresponding to the lid space. Pterjium is a disease with highrates of recurrence after surgery. Nowadays, along with several new techniquesthat are used to prevent recurrence, antineoplastics are also used to stop thegrowth. Various growth factors and mediators, like some neoplasms, have beenfound to be effective in pterygium growth, invasion and relapse. In addition togrowth factors such as stem cell factor and VEGF, an increase in histamine,carbonic anhydrase activity, in number of eph B4, and in nestin release wasfound while a decrease in IGFBP3 release was found. Studies are currentlyunderway to stop the growth of pterygium and prevent recurrence.

Purpose: In the present study, we attempted to determine whether ultrasonic elastography (USE) evaluation can be used in a diagnosis of optic neuritis (ON). Materials and Methods: Thirteen patients who each had one normal eye and one eye with a diagnosis of ON were included in the study. Ultrasonography (US) and USE examinations were performed on the affected and non-affected eyes of all participants. Optic nerve and adjacent fat tissue regions at the same depth were selected, and USE measurements were obtained. The optic nerve diameter was measured in both normal and affected eyes. Results: The mean USE values for the optic nerve were 2.58 +/- 0.50 m/s in ON eyes and 1.91 +/- 0.39 m/s in normal eyes (p = 0.001). The mean USE values for the optic-nerve adjacent tissue were 2.26 +/- 0.45 m/s in ON eyes and 1.77 +/- 0.22 m/s in normal eyes (p = 0.001). The mean optic-nerve diameter was 3.80 +/- 1.09 mm in ON eyes and 3.28 +/- 0.98 mm in normal eyes (p = 0.005). Conclusions: USE may be considered an accessible, safe technique for the detection of significant optic-nerve tissue stiffness in ON and may be used an adjunctive tool for confirming this diagnosis.

Today, for two or three dimensional modelling of objects, common algorithms such as spline curves and triangulation methods are being used. However, while these methods are able to well express the objects visually, since they approach the objects as a composition of a large number of small pieces, they are not able to cognisably put forth the mathematical expression of the object as a whole. The most notable method in the literature, in order to express the objects with a single equation is implicit algebraic curves, and 3L method as a way to realize the more sensitive effects of these curves. In this study, coefficients of 2 dimensional images which are modelled using 3L method are changed in order to carry out a small animation in this process. Experimental study results show that the variation of the coefficients, change the final results of the model and demonstrated the feasibility of this process for animation.

Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate the expression of cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) in gastric carcinomas and lymph node metastasis and their relationship with angiogenesis and prognostic histopathological parameters. Materials and Methods: COX-2 and VEGF expression and microvessel density (MVD) grade identified by antibodies against CD34 were investigated immunohistochemically in 33 patients with gastric carcinoma. Results: The expression of COX-2 was 96.9% in normal mucosa and 87.8% in gastric carcinoma. Although COX-2 expression in mucosa was higher than in carcinoma, the difference was not statistically significant. Giriş: Amacımız, pediatrik yaş grubunda meydana gelen delici göz yaralanmalarını araştırmak ve çocukların yaşının delici göz yaralanmalarında değişik parametreler üzerine etkisini incelemekti.Gereç ve Yöntem: Delici göz yaralanması geçirmiş 18 yaş altındaki hastaların medikal kayıtları geriye dönük olarak incelendi. Yaş, cinsiyet, travma sebebi, göz içinde yabancı cisim bulunma durumu ve göz yaralanmasının kapsamı not edildi.Bulgular: Çalışmaya 79 hasta 23 kız, 56 erkek dahil edildi. Ortalama yaşları 7,7±4,4 aralık: 2-18 yıl yıl idi. Otuz dokuz hasta künt uçlu cisim ile, 27’si ise keskin uçlu cisim ile yaralanmıştı. Bir hastanın da travma sonucu glob rüptürü mevcuttu. Otuz beş yaralanma dış mekanlarda gerçekleşmiş iken 45’i evde gerçekleşmişti. En çok yaralanma yaz aylarında olmuştu %32 . Yaralanmaların %75’i 11 yaş ve altında gerçekleşmişti. Ortalama yaralanma yaşı künt obje, organik cisim ve dış mekanda olanlarda; keskin cisimle, inorganik cisimlerle ve iç mekanda olanlardan anlamlı derecede yüksek idi.Sonuç: Türkiye’nin Kuzeybatısında delici göz yaralanma oranları daha düşük yaşlarda daha yüksek bulundu. Aileleri tehlikeler ve travmanın sonuçları konusunda haberdar etmek ve kolaylık ile ulaşılabilecek keskin cisimlerin önlemini almak travma oranlarını azaltabilir, Introduction: Our aim was to investigate the pattern of open globe injury and assess the effect of age on different parameters of open globe injury in pediatric patients.Materials and Methods: The medical records of the patients under 18 years old who had open-globe injury were retrospectively reviewed. Age, gender, the cause of the trauma, presence of intraocular foreign body and the extent of the ocular damage were recorded.Results: The study was comprised of 79 patients 23 female, 56 male with a mean age of 7.7±4.4 range: 2-18 years . Thirty-nine patients were injured with a blunt tip object, 27 with a sharp object and one has rupture with trauma. Thirty-five injuries occurred outside and 45 at home. The season in which most of the injuries took place was summer 32% . Seventy-five percent of the injuries were noted in 11 years and under. The mean age subject to blunt tip object injury, organic body injury and outdoor injury was significantly higher compared to that of with sharp object, inorganic body injury and indoor injury.Conclusions: The open globe-injury rates in Northwest Turkey is found to be higher in smaller age groups. Making the parents aware of the danger and consequences of the trauma and avoiding the easily accessible sharp objects may decrease the trauma rates
