Gazlaştırma işlemi ile karbon bazlı katı maddelerden enerji üretimi gittikçe artan bir araştırma konusu haline gelmiştir. Katı malzemelerden gaz üretimi fiziksel ve kimyasal olayların bir araya geldiği çok karmaşık bir olgudur. Ayrıca, gazlaştırma işlemi çok miktarda parametre içerdiği için deneysel bir çalışma ile her parametrenin ölçümlerini yapmak oldukça zordur. Bu nedenle üretilen sentetik gazının verimliliğini en üst düzeye çıkarmak ve yeni bir gazlaştırıcı tasarlamak ve proses parametrelerini optimize etmek için gelişmiş bir modelleme yaklaşımına ihtiyaç bulunmaktadır. Öncelikle tez çalışmasından gazlşatırma hidrodinamiği incelenmiştir. Daha sora, iki boyutlu (2-D) bir gazlaştırma sistemi ANSYS-FLUENT ticari kodu kullanılarak simüle edilmiştir. İşlemin piroliz ve sabit karbon yanma kimyasal reaksiyonlarının kimyasal kinetiklerini UDF kullanılarak modellenmiştir. Diğer bir adımda bu karmaşık problemi çözmek, araştırmak ve optimize etmek için üç boyutlu (3-D) basit, doğru, ve kapsamlı bir CFD modeli geliştirilmiştir. Sonraki aşamalarda, LES türbülans modeli, DDPM modelleri ve yeni alt modellerin gelişimi ile gazlaştırma problemine yeni bir çözüm modeli sunulmuştur. Geliştirilen bu modelleme çalışmaları için ağdan bağımsızlık çalışması ve model doğrulaması yapıldıktan sonra sistemin verimliliği hesaplanmıştır. RANS tabanlı türbülans modellerinden Standart k-ɛ modeli en uygun yaklaşım olarak şeçilmiştir. Gazlaştırıcı tasarım parametreleri RSM kullanılarak optimize edilmiştir. LES türbülans modellerinden WALE modelinin incelenenler arasında en uygun model olduğu kabul edilmiştir. DDPM modelinin sonuçlarının da oldukça tutarlı olduğu görülmüştür. Gazlaştırıcı nın yatay ile 45o açı yapması durumunda çıkan ürün gazı bilişenlerinin daha fazla olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Katı parçacık gözenekliliğinin ise verimi azalttığı yönünde sonuca ulaşılmıştır. Energy production from carbon-based solid materials by gasification has become an essential research subject. Gas production from solid materials is a very complex phenomenon where physical and chemical events come together. Besides, since the gasification process involves many parameters, it is challenging to measure each parameter with an experimental study. Therefore, an advanced modeling approach is needed to maximize the produced synthetic gas's efficiency, design a new gasifier, and optimize process parameters. Firstly, the hydrodynamics of gasification has been studied. Next, a two-dimensional (2-D) gasification system was simulated using the commercial code ANSYS-FLUENT. The chemical kinetics of the devolatilization and char combustion chemical reactions of the process was modeled using the UDF. In another step, a simple, accurate, and comprehensive three-dimensional (3-D) CFD model has been developed to solve, research, and optimize this complex problem. In the following stages, the development of the LES turbulence model, DDPM models, and a new solution model to the gasification problem is presented. After the mesh independence study and model validation, the system's efficiency was calculated. The standard k-ɛ model among the RANS-based turbulence models was chosen as the most appropriate approach. Gasifier design parameters have been optimized using the RSM. The WALE model has been accepted as the most suitable model among those LES models examined. DDPM model’s results are also quite consistent. When the gasifier makes an angle of 45o with the horizontal, the product gas components are increased. Solid particle porosity decreases the efficiency. YÖK (100-2000)

Tez (Yüksek Lisans) -- İstanbul Teknik Üniversitesi, Fen Bilimleri Enstitüsü, 2011, Thesis (M.Sc.) -- İstanbul Technical University, Institute of Science and Technology, 2011, Günümüzde yeni yanma süreçleri ile birlikte temiz dizel araştırmalarına önem verilmektedir. Bu araştırmaların önemi bu süreçlerin sahip olduğu sıfır civari partikül ve düşük emisyon seviyelerinden kaynaklanmaktadır. Uluslarası kurallar ise üreticileri NOx seviyelerini düşürmeye zorlamaktadır. Bu kurallar otomobil üreticileri ve bu sanayiye motor tedarik eden firmaları daha çevreci ve temiz motorlar üretmeye zorlamaktadır. Bu konuda emisyon seviyelerini ve kirletici miktarını sınırların altına indirecek birçok çalışma yapılmaktadır. Payri vd. direk enjeksiyonlu dizel motorlarda emiş ve sıkıştırma durumlarında, akış bölgesi için 3B akış analizi yaparak durumu incelemişlerdir. Chang vd. ise tek boyutlu model üzerinde nümerik çözüm yaparak geleceğin temiz ve çevreci teknolojisi olan HYY motorları incelemişlerdir. Bu tez aşamasında ise 6 silindirli turbo beslemeli direk yakıt püskürtmeli Ecotorq motor Ford - Otosan A.Ş tarafından incelenmiş ve gücün arttırılması ve emisyonların düşürülmesi planlanmıştır. Emisyon ve performans üzerinde etkili parametreler seçilmiş ve nümerik olarak incelenmiştir. Bir diğer amaç ise etkili devir bölgesinde yakıt tüketimi, parçacık ve emisyonları düşürürken gücü arttırabilmektir. Ayrıca parametreleri değiştirilen motorun Euro V standardına uygun olmasıda önemli bir parametredir.Tez kapsamında literatürdeki nümerik çalışmaların önemli bir kısmı gerçekleştirilmiş ve literatüre uygun sonuçlar elde edilmiştir., New combustion processes focused on clean diesel combustion are investigated for their potential to achieve near zero particulate and NOx emissions. Their main drawbacks are increased level of unburned hydrocarbons (HC) and carbon monoxide (CO) emissions, combustion control at high load and limited operating range and power output. According to global regulations for NOx emission and particulate matter levels must be reduced by manufacturer. Due to these regulations, companies which design engines for automotive industry, focused on to produce clean and environment friendly products. So that design is the most important step in production cycle. There are lots of studies on diesel engine to improving the performance and reduce the pollutant to under the allowed level which is formed by the governments and organizations. Chang at al. worked on the 1D simulation of a HCCI engine obtain better burn characteristic for future clean and economical passenger vehicle applications. In this thesis a nine liters six cylinder Direct Injection (DI) –Homogenous Charge Compression Ignition (HCCI) Turbo Charged Diesel engine which is produced and planned to increase the power and improve the performance by Ford - Otosan A.Ş , is examined .The parameters that determine the performance, efficiency and emissions of the engine is studied on computations.
