This study was carried out in order to determine the relations between some physiological parameters, yield and fiber technological properties in cotton by using correlation and path analysis method and to benefit from these relations in breeding studies. According to the correlation analysis, there was a significant positive correlation between cotton yield and fiber yield, fiber fineness and canopy temperature, but negative correlations were found between yield and spinning consistency index (SCI), fiber length, fiber strength and single boll seed cotton weight. According to the path coefficient analysis, the highest direct effect on the cotton yield was determined by fiber yield (87.26%) and the highest indirect effect was realized by ginning percentage (6.00%). Physiological parameters such as chlorophyll content (SPAD value) had a direct effect on the yield (6.53%), also it had positive indirect effect via fiber yield (27%) and ginning percentage (24%). The direct effect of canopy temperature on yield was negligible (0.09%), but it had significant positive indirect effect via fiber yield (75%) and ginning percentage (14%). Normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI: GreenSeeker reading) had direct effect on yield (2.28%), but it had significant indirect effect via fiber yield (58%) and ginning percentage (27%). The fact that physiological parameters such as chlorophyll content, canopy temperature and NDVI value are associated with yield indicates that these characteristics can be used as selection criteria.

Bu araştırma, tritikalede başaklanma döneminde ölçülen bazı fizyolojik parametrelerin tane verimi ve kalite özellikleriyle ilişkilerinin incelenmesi amacıyla yürütülmüştür. Araştırmada 9 ileri kademe tritikale genotipi 2014-2015 yetiştirme döneminde Diyarbakır ve Mardin koşullarında tesadüf blokları deneme desenine göre 4 tekerrürlü olarak yağışa dayalı koşullarda yetiştirilmiştir. Çalışmada 41-ITSN-8022, 41-ITSN-8024 ve DZ9-06 genotipleri tane verimi ve kalite özellikleri yönünden ön plana çıkmıştır. İncelenen fizyolojik özelliklerden SPAD ve yaprak alan indeksi (YAI) için genotipler arasında farklılık oluştuğu belirlenmiştir. Fizyolojik özelliklerle kalite özellikleri arasındaki ilişkiler lokasyonlara bağlı olarak değişkenlik göstermekle birlikte, SPAD ile bin dane ağırlığı arasında önemli ilişki bulunması dikkat çekici olmuştur. Bu araştırmaya göre; fizyolojik parametrelerden YAI ile verim arasında önemli ilişki olduğu ve fizyolojik özelliklerin tritikale ıslahında seleksiyon kriteri olarak kullanılabilirliğine yönelik kapsamlı çalışmaların yapılması gerektiği öngörülmektedir. This study was carried out to determine the relationships between grain yield and quality traits with some physiological parameters which measured at the heading stage. In this study, 9 triticale advanced lines were grown under rainfed conditions according to randomized complete block design with four replications during the 2014-2015 growing seasons in Diyarbakır and Mardin conditions. The triticale genotypes of 41-ITSN-8022, 41ITSN-8024 and DZ9-06 were found promising in terms of grain yield and quality parameter. Genotypic differences were significant for SPAD meter and leaf area index. It was remarkable the relationship between SPAD and grain weight although the relationships among physiological traits and quality traits changed depend on locations. Especially, the significant relation between LAI and grain yield suggest that physiological traits have potential to use as indirect selection criterion in future triticale breeding. The more related researches are necessary to reach this aim.
