Sermaye birikim sürecinde ‘kent’, hem üretim ilişkilerinin içinde gerçekleştiği yer olma özelliğine sahip olması bakımından hem de zamanla sermaye tarafından metalaştırılarak kullanılan bir birikim kaynağına dönüşmesi nedeniyle oldukça önemli bir işleve sahiptir. Kapitalizmin her safhasında gerek fiziki gerek sosyo-ekonomik koşullarıyla önemli ölçüde farklılaşan ‘kent’, her yeni dönemde işlevsel ve yapısal olarak farklı form ve rollerle karşımıza çıkmaktadır. Bu makalenin başlıca amacı öncelikle kapitalizm ve mekan ilişkisini sorgulamak ve sonra kapitalizmin farklı dönemlerinde kentte gerçekleşen değişim ve dönüşüm süreçleri ile kapitalist üretim ilişkilerinin bağlantısını kurmaktır. Bunu da özellikle iki farklı kapitalist dönemi baz alarak, Fordist ve Post Fordist safhada, bir dönemden diğer döneme geçişte değişen dinamikler üzerinden gerçekleştirmektir., In the capital accumulation process, the 'city' has a rather important function both from the perspective that it is the place where production relations take place and as it has, in time, been transformed into a tool of accumulation, commodified and used by capital. The “City”, which has changed significantly with both its physical and socio-economic conditions at every stage of capitalism, presents itself with different functional and structural forms and roles in every new phase. The main purpose of this article is to connect the processes of change and transformation that have taken place in the city in different periods of capitalism with the relations of capitalist production. It does this by focusing particularly on two different capitalist periods, the Fordist and Post-Fordist stages, and examining, in this context, the dynamics that emerged during the transition from one period to the next.

Balıkesir Üniversitesi, Sosyal Bilimler Enstitüsü, Resim Ana Sanat Dalı, Tasarım kavramıyla ilgili yapılan araştırmalarda, tasarım kavramının çeşitli anlamlarda kullanıldığı görülmüştür. Özellikle de kullanılmış olduğu alanla ilgili olarak değişime uğrayan tasarım kavramı, sanat, mimari, grafik, endüstri gibi bir çok alanda kendinden söz ettirmektedir. Sanayi Devrimi sonrasında, üretim anlayışında yaşanılan değişimler sebebiyle azalmaya başlayan zanaat tipi üretim, günümüze dek giderek azalmış ve yerini sanayi tipi üretime bırakmıştır. Endüstri ötesi olarak adlandırabileceğimiz, post-fordist süreç ise post-modernizmle beraber hayatımıza girmiştir. Fordist üretimde yaşanılan sıkıntılar sonucunda post-fordizm çözüm olarak sunulmuş, esnek üretim anlayışı gündeme gelmiştir. Bu dönemin sanat anlayışına bakacak olursak, çokluğun ve parçalılığın hakim olduğu görülmektedir. Hazır maddelerin hayatımıza girdiği ve sanat eseri sayıldığı bu dönemde geleneksel sanat kuralları yıkılmış ve düşünce ön plana çıkmıştır. Yaşanılan bu gelişmeler sonucunda post-modernizm sonrası hakikat sorunu doğmuştur. Toplumlar kitle iletişim araçlarıyla yönlendirilirken bu durum, dini, siyasi ve sosyolojik açıdan manipülasyonlara sebep olmuştur., It is observed that the concept of design has been used in different meanings in the research carried out concerning the concept of design. In particular, the concept of design which has undergone a change regarding the field where it is used, makes a name for itself in many areas such as arts, architecture, graphics and industry. Following the Industrial Revolution, artisanship style production launched due to the changes occurred in the sense of production, has gradually decreased at the present time, and is replaced with industrial style production. Post-fordist process which we might call as meta-industry, has come into our lives via post-modernism. Fordism has been offered as a solution to the problems encountered in fordist production, and also the sense of flexible production has been brought to agenda. When we look at the sense of arts in this period, we can see the dominance of redundancy and partiteness. In this period when convenience goods have come into our lives and are regarded as works of art, traditional rules of art have been taken down, instead, thinking has come forward. As a result of these developments encountered, the problem of truth on postmodernism, has come to surface. Therefore, while communities are directed by mass media, this has caused manipulations in the religious, political and sociological sense.
